Was totally gonna order a stool while watching the video but I exceed the weight limit. :(
Do you make those stools in men sizes?
Moog picked up an intercooler and didn't play it.
I'm calling the cops.
already alerted the authorities mate they said they'll be a bit of paperwork and it may take some time, but they will have this travesty sorted.
Should call the cops on the Lotus guys for missing that “everything was way off” twice before letting Moog go out on a track and almost get wiped out.
@@xpictos777 I do remember them saying it was off in previous episodes so it was a known factor. No idea why they still ran it knowing or even having a suspicion it was off. Best guess would be they didn’t have time and just wanted to get it on the track! Can’t really blame them there! Heha
THATS ILLEGAL
Also removed the seat and didn’t lick anything, wtf am I even watching
Insert your comment here about adding more power when the car doesn't handle well. Then you can watch the video and check out the bit where we find out what was wrong with the suspension and fix it. Or just comment without watching it - that's cool too 👍
I prefer to backseat comment while I twirl my comical villain moustache and cackle.
Also, great vid.
was thinking the same thing lol...also keen to see what marty does to be able to keep up with something this fast and good handling. Will be interesting for sure to see how he gets on with that task.
I don't know how you keep your head when reading some of the Muppet comments.. great videos. Thank you
Will do!

surely you guys know that comment munters know better even before they watch your videos.

Quick shout out to the camera guy. I hate the modern shaker style, gives me vertigo. Your guy is smooth, solid and frames the shots very well. So much so I forget there’s a person holding the camera. Awesome skills. An example to be followed. 👍
it's on a gimbal, but yeah he moves very well
Camera Op here, that dude moves ridiculously well with the gimbal. Not only that but his timing is impeccable. Always manages to pan back to Marty & Moog at just the right part of the sentence.

I thought 3 was going to be “I’m just not a very good driver”
Scrap that, "more power!"
Moog needs to accept he ain't ready for a car of this calibre.
Even when the car was dunk Steve said you didnt push it in the car true power band.
Aka pussy.
Thought the same thing
Yeah, he was not very honest 🤔😁
It has nothing to do with Moogs. The Lotus guys should have picked up all these issues when a) he bought the car and asked them to check if it was ok and b) when they “set it up” prior to the track day. It is outrageous that they’re now saying it is “all wrong” after Moogs was nearly taken out at the track day. I can’t believe no one else is upset as I am about this.
Here for the purity, wasn't disappointed

Confirming everyone's suspicions, the suspension setup was well and truly boned. I'm excited to see what it'll do with a proper setup.
You think lotus can’t set up a car? 😂😂😂
As one of the vocal proponents of that theory I am happily vindicated.
Now Moog can feel the true purity of a Lotus.
@@rhileyradnedge2501 I think Lotus can absolutely set up a car (as the people at Simply Sports Cars show here), but I think the previous owner may have had a bit of trouble.
@@rhileyradnedge2501 it was even said on a previous episode this car was 30mm higher than factory hight. It's not lotus fault some who didn't know what they were doing with it fucked it up
Would of liked to have seen the lap times with it properly sorted , before they put the better super charger in , as it’s a very expensive car should be quick stock
Moog: I'm not used to the lotus handling on the track
Also Moog: I need a bigger supercharger
🤦♂️
Id imagine its not only alighnment but theres most likely bushings as well.
If feel like over 50 % of the issue is tires. Rest can be spread over small adjustments and bushings. I found out first hand how much fresh tires can do when I was starting out. But my opinion doesn't matter. Im no pro
I love how enthusiastic the Lotus guys are. Was very joyful to watch and the whole car... pretty impressive!
Lol @ all the people commenting “wHy dO yOu nEeD mOrE pOwEr yOu cAnT dRiVe iT” without actually watching the entire video and realizing they fully re did the suspension setup/alignment. Keep up the lotus content, RUclips needs more lotus videos!!!
But all 31 of us know
Funny thing is I don’t think 99% of the people in the comments realize how important a proper alignment is. I’ve been a mechanic for years so I’ve driven cars with far from proper alignments and they would cause any driver to spin out. Also doesn’t anyone realize how much attention professional race teams put into alignment?
@@21Willly ESPECIALLY on a lotus, that’s why I was so confused. Especially the whole rake thing. They’re always lower in front by a good amount mine is about 6/7 mm higher in the rear than front
Also need tires. The fact the tires were old coupled with the terrible alignment wearing them unevenly means the girp had to to terrible. Weight transfer and downforce would be terrible with the poor rake, all the nice smooth under tray was doing jack all. The chamber and toe being off and inconsistent kills the predictability of the cornering grip.
That's kind of the point. He had no experience with it in its proper form. I don't think any of us are saying he can't drive (unless I missed some comments) we just want to see more of our friend Moog in the future. Lol
New tyres and correct alignment set up will shave just as much, if not more lap time than the power upgrade alone. Fun times ahead Moog. Now it'll drive and do like it was meant to. It's been a good journey watching you guys over the years going from driveways to track days. Thanks for the huge effort of taking us with you. 👌🏻

10:34 Taking the roof off and removing the passenger seat not only made more room for wiring the ECU, it also ...ADDED MORE LIGHTNESS.🧐
Colin chapman intensifies
Think of all the drag the roof off wil cause..
@@Sajuuk9
🤔 hmmm ...
...done.
They engineered the angle of the windshield to flow over the cabin to create a positive pressure. At a high enough speed this pressure is sufficient enough to prevent any wind force from entering the cabin. So even without the roof, the air just flows over the cabin and prevents drag.🤓
Targa top
How do you add lightness though? 🤔

It's so awesome to see the mechanical gurus from Lotus continuing to help you out. The wealth of knowledge you're getting from these guys is priceless. Definitely makes sense now why your track day was a bit wonky. Proper alignment and fresh sticky tires are going to make ALL the difference, the extra ponies with the new SC is a nice bonus. Good luck on your next track day, Moog!
I would have liked to have seen some lap times with the suspension/tyres sorted out without the supercharger upgrade to see what a difference it made. Then do the supercharger and see how that affected times
I love that they're using all manual/analog tools for the alignment. Now that's a PURE alignment!!! I do the same whenever I can!
A lot of the race teams do it with string and gauges as well, right at the top level too - I've been to Le Mans several times and seen the LMP1 and GTLM teams doing the suspension setup in the exact same was as the Lotus guys did it

10:27 Tuning Fork watching this. I hope you pull the top on your next dyno run for the guy.
Compared to some of the nuggets they've had on the show, this Lotus shows how well a car can be built.
Lotus make some of the best sports car out, period.
The thing I like, is that the recipie is remarkably simple. It's a great chassis, coupled with a reliable, but yet powerful engine (thank you Toyota) - makes for a killer combo!
If I could buy a new sports car, it would hands down be a Lotus Evora GT410 Sport. Comfortable to use everyday, but brilliant on the track! And not to mention one of the sweetest sounding V6's on the market! Partially helped by the factory titanium exhaust!
@@upgradeNEVER yup amazing what a exhaust can do to a camry v6
And bolt on parts that actually fit! (Falls off of chair.)
Mechanically they are very good. The bodywork is a nightmare though. Mine has un-even panel gaps everywhere and the drivers door needs completely re-fitting as it's way off. But then you get the same thing on the F40 etc and people only notice if they look close enough :P
I hear the current ones are far better put together though.
@@BlatentlyFakeName Low number car's issues any "exotic" car producer ever had, still has and probably ever will have. (Except Bugatti while Ferdinand Piëch still was around, of course)
Would've been interesting to see him drive it with a good suspension tune first and then the supercharger replacement
Yes potentially, although at least it created a good baseline to work from to then show how improvements can be made by addressing all the key areas like brakes, tyres, suspension, cooling, oil management etc.
I’m really happy you got the suspension sorted. Watching the first track test was scary, Lotus cars are amazing to drive and you didn’t seem that happy with the car. Great job guys. Great video as well as always.

When you were recording videos in the driveway did you ever think one day you would be working on your Lotus with a couple of the best tech's in the business?
You mean the absolute worst mechanics/techs of all time that almost got Moogs killed at the track? They’re boarderline criminals. Suspension is such an art.
In japan negative rake is actually preferred by drifters to try and keep the car squatted down at the back to limit the weight transfer to the front to prevent uncontrollable liftoff oversteer.
So in some cases negative rake is used to maintain rear grip, but then in this case they must also have their reasons for positive rake having the same effect under different driving styles.
The nerd part of me loves this side of cars.
