Keeping with MCM tradition, our last episode of the year is out on Christmas Day. While Christmas is a day of celebration for a lot people, for many others it can be a difficult, lonely time particularly for those with broken families, severe financial stress, those dealing with the bush fire crisis or families dealing with the loss of a loved one. While we can’t fully understand what each person is going through, we want to acknowledge that for many people it won’t be the kind of Christmas we see on TV. Don’t worry about RUclips videos of people getting new super cars and houses or $1M for Christmas. This stuff is not reality and certainly not a basis to compare your own situation. The best gift you can give anyone is your attention - keep it simple and don’t give yourself a hard time if your Christmas Day doesn’t look like the ads on TV (nobodies Christmas Day actually looks like that) Huge respect to all of the emergency services personnel and volunteers that are battling bush fires around the country. And for those that need some extra help, please check out the ReachOut website where there is free support for those in need. All the best for the end of 2019 and we hope you enjoy the episode. - MCM

“Imagine buying a used car and the owner not telling you all the fine details of its history” This describes every private party sale to anyone under 30
I bought my first car recently. A Toyota Camry with 284,000 miles and it had some missing exterior pieces like the gas cap cover and the driver's side door handle was broken off halfway. the thing had been used up but it's still got some useful miles left in it. The previous owner's kids went ham on the fuse box so I had to use the pre-existing fuse box diagram to put them back in the right spots. The alternator went bad after 200 miles of driving so I replaced that and the old battery. It's been driving fairly well ever since with regular maintenance so I don't think I got ripped off. Still, i wish I had just bought a 2,000 dollar camry instead of a 600 dollar one :l .
The good thing is that all goes away when you get older. If you believe that I’ve got a minty fresh one owner car of your dreams for well under book that you can pick up for cash

If you look into it, it's a relatively easy swap. You can actually use factory engine mounts from a Scion xB, harness and ECM as well so it's all Toyota stuff if you wanna do it that way. You can swap in the 6 speed or the 2ZR bolts up to the 1NZ trans. If you have the tools and resources for it, this swap is much more cost effective than trying to squeeze more power out of the NZ. Even with boost on the NZ you'll make basic bolt on 2ZR power so it's wise to swap first and boost later if boost is the end goal. If you want the low displacement and don't ever care to make over 130-140whp then boosting the NZ makes sense, but it's going to cost big up front.

@@sk0kiE The Toyota Probox is a very common car in SouthEast Asia usually used as delivery vans or taxis. I already made some modifications to my Probox. Eh, it's a Toyota. They don't like to change anything when they don't have to. As an example, I was recently able to fit the stock touchscreen radio off a wrecked 2013 Scion FR-S (86) into my 2003 Celica with the same harness. same mounts, and without modifying the dash in any way, basically complete plug & play. In any case, this is by far one of the best videos you guys have made for a while. Awesome!
For sure, it's a massive upgrade over stock in terms of both functionality (with Bluetooth, USB, and navigation) and sound quality and I got it for the kind of money that can normally get you a pretty horrible low end unit. The interesting thing is that the unit is actually made by Pioneer for Scion and has speaker profiles for pretty much all Scions that Toyota ever made in the settings. The one for the Scion tC seems to work best for me.

First off, you're gonna need all the tools. Meanwhile, I'm doing a transmission swap and half rebuilding my motorcycle with little more than a cheapo 160 pc Autozone tool kit.
I put a turbo on my US 1.5 version (1nzfe) and got to 162 HP on the dyno, but it ended up costing me as much as the car price once I got a new computer, and all the needed parts. After about a year I removed everything because it kept cooking the coolant lines; I think metallic or well-shielded coolant lines, or a turbo that only uses oil and no coolant would probably be a better choice. This is a great video! Thanks, guys!
Very cool! 162 is great power for the 1NZ. May I ask what management you used? Was this the Zage kit or custom? I've had no overheating issues with my 2ZR-swapped and turbo'd 2006 Yaris RS and I'm using the stock cooling system. The highest I've seen for coolant temps was about 215 and oil about 210 or so. My turbo is water cooled. I don't thrash on it constantly. Trans temps are great too, max I've seen is about 200. I have the automatic (for now) but I did install a cooler and thermostatically controlled fan. Vids on my channel, if interested.

Toyota Technician here. What a lovely episode. Toyotas as so easy to work on. Everything is quite simple and with 10, 12, 14, 17 and 19 sockets and spanners you can replace clutch or do headgasket. Check if airbag has been replaced as recall :D
ahaha damn.
We replace them since a year here in germany.
(I'm a mecanic at a toyota/mitsubishi dealer)
by the way, I just orderd a Corolla 2.0 Hybrid GR to be my own one.
should be here in late January / early February!
just wanted a "normal" car to own. with my S13 for the more fun stuff that probably kills me😎 🤣
@@descent8275 I would like to have a new corolla, lowered and nice rims on it. And fact that is hybrid one would be pretty useful for low emission zones, especially here in Brum in next year.
@@xMSZx are you getting that strict low emission zones?

Edit: Yeaa that ''celebration'' segment was questionable... haha love it!
In a half hour episode
MCM - full engine swap and 5 second lap time increase
Binky - Move a door bracket.
Maybe one day BOM and MCM will collab, now that would be interesting.
@@buddhamack1491 thatd be the next best thing after the mcm roadkill colab!
I just finished both now haha
Funny on how extremely different the builds are but how much they are to watch. Quality shows are so much better than the people buying super cars from auctions then editing videos with the same footage for a month with no progress.
Definitely a fantastic 2019 MCM season. Looking forward to what’s to come. Thanks for the many years of automotive excitement.
Moog: I mean, look at the severity of the crash
Marty: I mustashe you a question....

So nice to see you playing that radiator harp. I miss those days
too bad the last owner didnt bother to tune it
I feel like he's strumming it the wrong way just to mess with people :(
I know I trip out thinking that
My Toyota Probox will be big blocked with that 2ZR-FE engine! The corolla that you took the engine from also accommodates my car's 1.5 1Nz-FE engine (The engine that you thought will be in the Yaris hilton) so it should fit. Thank you guys for showing me the way to supe up my dreary econobox!
Never seen one of them in Australia before
@@sk0kiE The Toyota Probox is a very common car in SouthEast Asia usually used as delivery vans or taxis. I already made some modifications to my Probox. So far I've fitting the same tire size as Yaris hilton with 15 inch bronze Konig race wheels. I replaced the disc rotors with bigger drilled/slotted units in the front brakes with taller calipers from a Toyota IST . I have also fitted in "Angel eye" Projector headlights with LED strips inside the headlights and painted the reflectors black. It really looks good now. After watching the video Ive just learned that my Probox's 4 speed auto transmission can accommodate a 1.8L engine. I'll start looking for one in the junkyards next year. Wish me luck. ^^
"Martin give me 11"
"That was really weird"

The MCM Christmas "special" is always the highlight of my Christmas! Thank you guys for making it better for us! For sure idk where i would be without you guys! Merry Christmas and have a wonderful time! I know i will with this awesome video!
This is like a dystopian version of roadkill where V8s don't exist.
V8's are basically crutches.
The free dystopian version that isn't behind some corporate paywall on a subpar webplayer and is not pure Dodge this and Dodge that
I heard BIG Block and got excited. Only to be let down
Actually I wonder if the starter motor for a Big Block has Kilowatts?
And they call 4 cylinders big blocks
Merry Christmas from Croatia to all in Australia!
Cheers mate, Merry Christmas

After binge watching for a few weeks im praying that you guys never quit. The seriousness followed by comical attitudes is an amazing combo that just works.
I think the "give me 11" is one of the funniest things i've heard in a long time. Thanks guys
Just pull the key antennea out, ziptire the Corolla key to the antennea and tuck it under the dash.
Or they could have changed the lock barrel from the half cut and had an ignition key and a door key
TreyixToober yep
I do it to any one key car. Superglue the chip to the coil.
Or just bridge pins 4 and 13 on the OBD port and turn the key on and let sit for 40 minutes
Lol, pop the key apart place the chip in the corner - job done
2ZZ-GE is a mighty unit too.
2ZZ's are expensive.
NCD2294 no doubt, but it’s a mighty unit.
Yea I've seen one in an AW11 and it went hard
for a stock engine, the LIFT hits pretty hard.
@@of_lion22 Just bought one for 280 with a 6spd transmission, only 128000kms hhaha
love the video, brings back happy memories of chucking a 2.0l Calibra engine in my Vauxhall Nova 15 years ago. Still easily the most fun car I've ever owned. Unfortunately it was such an easy popular conversion by 2005 it was almost expected that every Nova on the road had one :-)
I'm glad this popped up in my recommended... I've had an interest in learning at least the basics of car mechanics but its always seemed mad daunting. Seeing vids like this definitely sparks new interest for sure. Good stuff fellas.
Run with that new interest. A couple years ago all I did was brake jobs, a few bolt on parts and oil changes. Then I decided to jump in a little deeper.

Awesome!
Thats insane with a 10 year difference between the cars
That just sounds like a win to me!
Had the same win with steering wheels between models and steering wheel controls
Wondering If This Would Work on a zzw30 🧐
Was anyone else expecting Benny aka Mechanical Stig to be stood there when they said they got the ultimate scan tool 😂
It's awesome that you guys are still around.... I remember watching a blow off valve video like 10yrs ago....

I love what you guys do so much. Simply because, me being an american muscle car junkie, I always look at carburetors and points ignition, old v8s and about three total wires to get something on the road.
