I’m about to buy my first exige on Monday, I’m going in with my eyes open! It’s had a new rad and resistor pack, the front suspension has all been done but the rear needs doing. The air on also isn’t working but the price for the car is decent. I guess the saving grace is that whatever work you do will make it more desirable when you sell and, the prices of these are going up slowly. The way I see it is I’m doing my bit to keep a classic on the road and, there’s not really much on these that goes wrong.
Got this coming myself in a couple of weeks. My break lines are perished on my exige and it’s a clam off job. So while it’s off I’ll do the same I think as my AC isn’t working either. It’s gonna be a big one but once it’s done it’s done and it’s part of the lotus ownership.
Good to see another video from you. My radiator also has the plastic end caps. Was something I knew when I bought it, knowing I'd probably have to replace the radiator at some point. So I've kinda budgeted for it but it will be a hit when it happens. Had aircon looked at recently, thought it was the condenser but luckily it was split hoses. Now fixed for much less expense and without clam removal! Has your roof lining started sagging again? Thought you fixed that. Signed up to the newsletter. Look forward to checking out tomorrow's edition...
Glad to hear your issues were an easy fix! That’s sounds far less financially painful. I know people complain about it, but I find the AC in the Exige to be quite good to be honest. Worthwhile at least. Headlining has sagged unfortunately, serves me right for doing a quick job! The roof was leaking a bit and the headlining got very wet which didn’t help, I’ve since sorted the window alignment and it’s stayed a lot dryer. I was thinking about properly sorting the headlining this weekend, stripping it back and adhering new fabric, but the weather hasn’t been conducive to roof-off type work 🌧️ Appreciate the newsletter sign-up 🙌🏻, hopefully there’s something in there tomorrow of interest!
@@BritishRacingGreens I agree AC is a must! Who wants to drive in an oven?! Good luck with the headlining. Hopefully the weather will change soon so you can get it sorted.
AC is defo useful all year around, esp in such a small cockpit, so well worth the investment. I suspect the fans will fail earlier now as they will be in direct rain 24/7. Why don’t you go on your road trips with the soft top on & then you can use is as a convertible when suitable & store hood behind the seats? Still got the original rad/fan/heater matrix/hoses on my S1 and it’s all 27 years old now!
I’ve subscribed to the newsletter, looks good 👍 Let me know if you might like to feature with your Exige on my owner stories series of driving videos 👍😎
@@BritishRacingGreens thank you! Turns out there’s a little more work than just the brake pipes! It’s having a whole suspension removal/ refresh, brake pipes, aux belt, hand brake cable and 4 new tyres! My advice is keep an eye on your suspension parts and get it done early. It’s another when not if jobs. I’ve been advised the front end is ok for now so I’ll save for the clam removal and rads/ air con in a year or so.
That's a decent chunk of change, but still not bad at all for how long you've had a 15 year old exotic. If you had an old Mclaren, you'd probably be sweating more from those bills than you did from that road trip you took.
I believe the pipes had to be fabricated, but the other parts are available from Pro Alloy and easily found on their site. The parts used (minus liquids) were: - Pro Alloy radiator - Top mounted fans - AC condenser - Condenser pipe to side sill and pipe to drier - Tow post

Good luck with the purchase, I’m sure you’ll love it! Warning: they’re quite addictive…

Appreciate the sub! I've sub'd to your channel too, I like the format 👌Would love to feature at some stage, thanks for reaching out!
@@BritishRacingGreens thanks very much. It would be great to feature another Lotus, always loved this generation Exige 😎
Which garage did you use for this work matey? I’m about to do all this myself including brake pipes
Back on Track near Guildford, they’re brilliant! Incredibly knowledgeable.
Good luck with the work!

That sounds expensive! Good plan though 👌🏻
@@BritishRacingGreens 5.5k…. But if it doesn’t get done it’ll kill the car

😂 very true!
Can you please share the part list?
Thank you
