172/182s are by far the best bang for buck car on the UK market for the average user who doesnt need a family sized car. My first car was a 1.2 clio and after around 3yrs i jumped at the chance to buy a 182 FF. I paid £1800 and its never let me down in almost 9 years now, its been an absolute blast and i still enjoy every minute just as much as i did when i first bought it

Glad to hear you’re still loving your 182, and I agree, excellent value for money!

I'd say the colour is a huge part of it, RB is absolutely the most popular colour and if you don't include the lame 182 'cup' cars, they're quite rare in comparison to the other colours. Try and find a standard-ish racing blue 182 with both cup packs for sale at the moment. To put it simply, you won't.

Sad to hear its gone but also good to know it’s gone to someone who will love it and get solid use out of it! I adore mine and although there’s loads I fancy out there I won’t let mine go anywhere!

Congrats on the new car. It appears to be a lotus, another bucket list car of mine to get. Looking forward to the reveal.
The Clio was priced about right but yes, you probably could have got more especially being the favourite Racing Blue.
As you describe, they're so much car for the money in terms of practicality and performance. Great cars!

Thanks! You’re right, it’s a Lotus, a dream car of mine for years. You’re also right about the colour and price, there’s a real premium on Racing Blue, the wheels are a perfect pairing too.

Sad to see it’s gone! Glad it went quick and to a good home. I might sell the cup in a little while too but let’s see 😬

Only going up in price, would do well to hold on if you can!

These car are so cheap in the UK…
£5000 is nothing compared to Europe prizes. If the steering wheel was on the left side, I would take the next plane.
For your Clio in that color with 100k miles you could ask double the money here….

You’re right about the colour too. That could and those wheels 😍

Sad to see the clio go mate. Was a great example. But i totally get your thought process. Just out of interest where did you list and what platform did it sell on because there is always debates about dont sell on FB because of xyz or dont sell on autotrader because nobody uses it etc. So would be good to hear your thoughts

Thanks, I know I’ll miss it! I only listed it on Auto Trader, immediately had lots(!) of serious interest. I think I originally found it on Pistonheads.

Are you in an MX5 🤔

It’s not an mx-5, I’ll give you a clue, the engine is behind me and it’s a British brand.

Who are these people falling over eachother to buy an old Clio for £5000 😂 it's a decent hatch, but lol.

The market talks for itself! If you had £5k to spend on a fun car, what would you go for?

@@BritishRacingGreens everything else has gone up with it I guess. Not a clue! I had a single owner 2004 WRX That was mint a few years ago that I got for £4000 and sold for £4900. It probably wouldn't be as fun as a 182, but it was great in the snow the 2 times we had it.
Tbh I'd rather spend more and buy something like your exige or maybe an Evora S.
There is definitely something fun about a small hatch with a lot of power though.

Best thing about us enthusiasts is everyone has a different opinion and it makes for a great debate! WRX is very different but a great shout, I’ve spent a short time behind the wheel and they’re incredibly competent.
