  • After collecting a new driver's seat, the Clio decided to act like a royal baby, throwing all its toys out the pram at once. In the spirit of the channel, I want to share the challenges as much as the good times, let's just hope that it's not too expensive to fix!

    For the airbag light. Disconnect you’re new seat, then disconnect the battery for 5 mins. Plug the the seat back in followed by the battery. I was told to do this when fitting resistors as I don’t have airbags. Because apparently disconnecting the battery resets something I believe. Also keep up the videos, I also have an RB 182🤙🏻

    Hope you get it sorted soon - still a great little car! I had a similar issue with my cup recently and injector 4 was shot. Take it to a specialist and they’ll have you back on the road soon.

      I think you were right here, replaced the injectors with genuine parts and then worked a treat. Replaced plugs and coil pack for good measure too.

  • @koolkat969
    @koolkat969 3 года назад +4

    Coil pack and injectors could be possible causes like you say. Tends to be the common issue with those symptoms. The Cliosport face book page is also very useful in getting pretty quick responses. Out of curiosity, do you use 95 RON or 98RON petrol?

    • @BritishRacingGreens
      @BritishRacingGreens  3 года назад +2

      I've only had to fill it up three since owning it, but I've put 95 in. Just yesterday I was thinking, I should really be putting 98 in, next time...

    • @koolkat969
      @koolkat969 3 года назад +3

      @@BritishRacingGreens Yeah, definitely advisable using 98. I don't use any other and never had issues with injectors or coil packs.

      I’ve owned a 182 for 5 years , put 95 in her once and the Tickover was noticeably worse. It defo makes a difference, best of luck fixing the car mate.

      @@BritishRacingGreens These cars really like to be run on premium fuel, 98 octane/ron or higher - shell vpower or tesco momentum will be your best bet, then any other super unleaded. It's worth remembering that these cars have a 12:1 compression ratio so need the higher octane fuel to run well and safely!

    Echo the comments below re injectors, coils and plugs. I ve the airbag light on too, mines intermittent been told its the wiring under the seats I plan to code it out in Reno Clip (official diagnostic)

    • @BritishRacingGreens

      Injectors all sorted, still plagued by the airbag light though, will check wires under the seat when I get a chance.

  • @somelegend1526
    @somelegend1526 Год назад +1

    Airbag light on mk2 clios will just be the wires under the seats, nothing to worry about and usually a wiggle will turn it off again. If not just cut out the connectors and crimp the wires instead

    Could be many things, but the cars love eating injectors. But only buy genuine Magneti versions. Airbag light, have you tried putting your old seat back in the car? I know it’s a pain, but if the lights go out you know there is a fault with the new seat wiring.

    • @BritishRacingGreens
      @BritishRacingGreens  3 года назад

      I’ve ordered the genuine Magneti ones 👍🏻, they’re not too expensive and should help the car run better regardless. Sadly on the seat, I’ve now chewed up the old one salvaging parts to try and fix the new one 😫 with the benefit of hindsight I should have done what you suggested.

  • @mike444c3

    Resistance test each injector by taking the plug off and using a multimeter between the injector pin terminals. Each should read about 14ohms. A faulty one will read around 10ohms. You can easily do this whilst they are still fitted on the car and also without starting the engine. I had this and it was injector 3 that was faulty.

    • @BritishRacingGreens

      Appreciate your help Mike, I decided to replace the lot just to keep the engine in tip-top condition. For the price (and peace of mind) it felt worthwhile.

    Had a very similar issue (without the Airbag light) and mine was Injectors. I would guess Coils/Injectors or Plugs

  • @hsustyle1

    Hi mate
    Shoot me a whatsapp if you need pointers sorting any of these issues, all pretty common and an unfortunate coincidence.
    Cruise control -
    Check if your traction control stopped working too? If so, this will be a faulty ABS sensor, only use genuine Renault. Your diagnostics reader should help find what side is faulty /front or rear.
    Flashing engine management light is injector fault or coil pack. I would guess one of your injectors needs replacing. Let the car run and unplug one at a time and you'll hear which one makes no difference, that's your culprit.. I have a few spare genuine Renault injectors here, happy to post them to you, its a common issue.
    Airbag light - most likely damaged existing wiring. You can get a resistor that gets rid of the light, lots of info online, common issue that sometimes just sorts itself.

    injectors are shot, get 4 new ones from RenParts should be £32.50 each

    • @BritishRacingGreens
      @BritishRacingGreens  3 года назад

      That's what I'm hoping! Even if they don't turn out to be the culprit, they're still likely to benefit performance.

  • @iamjonwright

    Injectors as everybody’s pointed out. End of the day it’s an old car so just spend a few quid on it. Don’t wait for it to breakdown, which it invariably will. And despite what people say, they’re not meant to be lumpy. Renault wouldn’t have sold many if they sounded like that from the factory.

    • @BritishRacingGreens
      @BritishRacingGreens  3 года назад +2

      As you say, to be expected from a 16 year old car. Totally agree, I replaced all injectors, plugs and ignition coil. Genuine parts, now back firing on all cylinders 👌🏻

  • @dickie8184
    @dickie8184 3 года назад +1

    I would guess the airbag light is from you swapping seats. As the seats have built in air bags, maybe dodgy connections. The other issues, injectors or coil packs. Sorry was writing before I'd finished the vid.

    • @BritishRacingGreens
      @BritishRacingGreens  3 года назад +1

      I've tried my best to sure up the connections for the airbag, but no luck 😭 Fingers crossed on the injectors and coil pack, hopefully good as new by the end of the week 🤞

    just take it to a renault specialist and get them to run diagnostic and fix the issue. wont be anything major but no point guessing what the problem may be and spending money on things it doesnt need.

    • @BritishRacingGreens
      @BritishRacingGreens  3 года назад

      That will be my next move, the injectors and spark plugs sound like they should improve the car regardless and don’t cost a great deal so figured it’s worthwhile and a chance to get to know the engine.

    Hi, I don't know what's the quality of the petrol in your country, nevertheless it's the no1 suspect.
    No2 are the ignition coils, 90% in my opinion, 10% the injectors, airbag wiring etc, compeletely irrelevant 😉
    Good luck !

    Don't fire the parts cannon at it you will hate the car when it doesn't fix it. I suggest diagnostics first. Once you find the issue use genuine Renault parts Renault are picky snobs

    • @BritishRacingGreens
      @BritishRacingGreens  3 года назад +1

      😂 to be honest, I had my finger on the trigger of the parts cannon all day and only fired it this-evening. I figured, even if they don’t solve the problem, the spark plugs are needed soon regardless and injectors should benefit too. I’ve ordered genuine parts because as you say, I understand they’re rather fussy!
