    plastic front wings are standard on all clio 2 and Clio 3, I owned both of them and they both had plastic wings.

     @Car Diaries The door lock was more of a cost cutting measure than anything.
    It's a bit like the loss of a sun roof between ph1 and ph2 172's, a few early monaco blue ph2 172's had sun roofs to use up the shells...but who really wants a sun roof in a sport? I had an electric one in my 1.4 clio dynamique plus and I thought I'd miss it but I'm actually glad it's not there in the 182.
    Whilst I'm here, I'll mention a few other things.
    The front wings are also fiberglass on non sports, however they're wider on sports, along with the front bumper and arch lines to accommodate the wider track of the sport models. It also gives it a sportier look imo.
    The rear arches are rolled at the factory unlike the non sports, again this is accommodate the wider hubs on the rear axle.
    The factory cups, trophys and cup packed Full Fat (like yours) sports had different aerial bases, they are more upright to prevent the aerial hitting the taller rear wing when the boot door is lifted. The trophy also has shorter boot door gas struts to aid with that issue. The sports, along with some of the non sport initiale and dynamique plus models that were equipped with sat-nav had different bases again, longer and bulky to accommodate the gps antenna.
    There are many, many other things that have changed on them and/or vary between models but I'd be here all day haha

      Fair point on the door lock, I was being a bit flippant. Not having a lock on the drivers side is a totally acceptable compromise for affordability. You've dropped some serious knowledge there though, you clearly know what you're talking about, thanks for sharing 👍

    Also if you turn your light stalk on and off to the sidelights setting 3 times quickly you’ll activate the auto headlights if you have them.

    I’ve got 182 cup in that colour great great cars these would still surprise a lot of modern hot hatches seriously quick for what they are. I’ve had it since nearly new I’m now in my 50’s and the ole back can’t take the suspension anymore and a little noisy inside for me these days 😂

      I've just picked up a 182 after driving a Mk1 MX5 for the last 7 years, getting into the Clio was like stepping into an anechoic chamber compared to that

    Wow the glovebox trick something I never realised 😂 could’ve used that one summer
    Just a another little feature hold the right stalk button down and the reset button on the clocks as you turn the ignition on
    Should hear a repeated bong noise and the clocks themselves should be dancing away 😂 but the trip computer gives it a bit more info like how much fuel you have to the litre and a few other bits of info

    Love the RB on it... The 182 remains my dream car. My 2005 dci Rush edition though has the plastic front wings as standard, which have a very nice finish to them... I love them. My glovebox is also cooled which I love, and mine also had factory Aux and ohone connectivity, which was something rare back when the mk2 came out. I personally think, that the mk2 clio, whether in RS form or not, is a future classic

    • @BritishRacingGreens

      They’re certainly a lot of fun and offer great value for money. I agree that they’re a future classic, the question is, how long?

      @@BritishRacingGreens If you look at the fast fords from the 80’s now commanding daft money I’d say another 15 years 182’s are starting to steadily rise in value especially the rarer coloured ones say racing blue or liquid yellow.

    • @BritishRacingGreens
      @BritishRacingGreens  3 года назад

      Very true, the older fast fords command incredible prices these days. I think you’re right about the colour too, liquid yellow are already a step above.

    I picked up my 182 on Saturday and found out about the glove box when I read the owners manual when I got home. Also started frantically googling electrical faults because I was convinced the wipers and headlights were broken... Had no idea that it had automatic headlights and rain sensing wipers! I've just come from a Mk1 MX5 so even having a clock seemed a bit high tech, this car might be too modern for me 🤣

    • @BritishRacingGreens
      @BritishRacingGreens  3 года назад

      It’s quite impressive isn’t it! Interested to hear your thoughts on it as a driving experience vs. the MX-5, that’s another car on my wish list.

    • @khaaaaaaaaaannn
      @khaaaaaaaaaannn 3 года назад +1

      @@BritishRacingGreens I'll have to come back to this when I've got more seat time, but the thing that has impressed me most so far (aside from the obvious power increase) is just how confidence inspiring the brakes are. They're still only single piston calipers, but the extra 30mm of disc diameter really is a massive improvement over the MX5

    • @BritishRacingGreens
      @BritishRacingGreens  3 года назад

      I was thinking the same thing while switching between my girlfriend’s Ibiza and the 182, the brakes are far more effective. Interested to hear what you think after a few more weeks.

      @@BritishRacingGreens finally managed to take the Clio out for a proper run on a favourite B-road yesterday and frankly I'm blown away by how quickly it covers ground. The thing that really surprised me is just how similar yet different it is to the MX-5, especially the ability to use the throttle to rotate the car mid corner, except this time I'm lifting instead of accelerating. The Clio has better steering feel, but does suffer from having a slower ratio which is compounded by the steering wheel they seem to have sourced from a local shipyard. Brakes are not only stronger than the 5, but the car feels more stable under heavy braking. Changing gear in the Clio is hilariously bad after driving an MX-5, it feels like the stick isn't actually connected to the gearbox, but it does find the correct gear every time so I guess it's not the end of the world. And the exhaust that a previous owner fitted, which I consider obnoxiously loud when driving around town, makes the most addictive set of noises when driving in an "enthusiastic" manner... All sorts of woofles, crackles, and the occasional deep boom. None of that awful "pops and bangs" nonsense that the McDonald's car park gang are so fond of 😂

    • @BritishRacingGreens
      @BritishRacingGreens  3 года назад

      Glad to hear you've had an opportunity to properly stretch the Clio's legs, they do scamper don't they! Really interesting to read your thoughts thanks for the comprehensive comparison. The pops and bangs topic is certainly divisive, I prefer the more authentic sounds too though.
