I dont see things blurry or feel like im not in my body. Its mainly my thoughts thinking something isnt right and im so disconnected ill be in the bathroom trying to name things around me because im scared im going to forget everything. Ill be in my room and look around like its a foreign place even though i know its not. Whenever i get through one phase and start feeling better my thoughts will just switch to something else and ill be in a new cycle back to square 1

Can it make you feel like no matter what you do or where you go, you aren't comfortable anywhere, you're depersonalised when you walk , touch things, do things, listen to people, sit down, lie down, doing activities - like dirtbikes, watching a movie, playing games and no matter what would normat make tou better - even like meditation. It is working?

My experience was that it was always there 24/7 for just over 10 years, so yes it was there during all activities and I felt uncomfortable most of the time, but the strength of the symptoms would change, sometimes it got worse other times it got better, until I learned how to completely recover and it gradually went away over time.

I started daydreaming when I was 13 and now I’m 25. These whole years I fed my conscious and sub conscious mind with fake scenarios, with the things I desired to have in reality. Surprisingly, whatever I daydreamed about in past years became reality. As I’m aware of the never ending cycle of desires and wishes, I still daydream about things I want, In the hope that it will become reality one day.

But if you believe in multiple realities, different timelines, time travel. And actively looking for them. You travel as a shaman. Constant. Every day. Continuously. Meditating. Dancing. Well... If I experience lost time, or forget things, I don't see it as a bad thing. I write down what year it is. Then maybe I live on an island. From 1996. In the middle of 2024. I can lose memory, let's say, what I've done today, but at the same time I can remember things. Which I know was hidden from me. In my normal state. If I didn't meditate, or dance. It's hard to explain. But I am also extremely skeptical of all the diagnoses that DSM 3 through 5 created, "discovered" There is nothing scientific at all there. Controlled by money, politics, and god knows.

One thing that helped me quit quite fast is when i would listen to song i would focus on the lyrics and whenever i would start daydreaming i would snap out of it and because the songs are timed you can tell how much time you spent and if you started daydreaming in this specific song and slowly i would not daydream for 2 then 3 and then 5 then 7 songs and eventually it will stop. Yes this is hard because songs are a big trigger for most mds but i highly recommend this. Edit : ( if you have a playlist you can also test how many songs went by that you daydreamed and you realize sooner when you started and when it ended )

Hi Rumzi, thank you very much for getting back to me on that issue. As I mentioned in the last comment, my therapists never gave me a clear description about my condition. I did. psychoanalysis 4 years and behaviour therapy 3 years. So I just described my experience and my todays condition to chat gpt, when I lost the sense of reality and sensations of being alive 14 years ago. I described the whole situation as it happened and how do I feel now. So it gave me descriptions of what I might have: dissociative disorder and derealisation. It helps really much just only to understand what is going on, so I can search for support like you offer. Very happy you got over it. And thank you for your contribution, it is so important for us!

I’m 15 and I think I might have maladaptive daydreaming since I was about 12. It started when I had for some time anime phase and I watched it a lot. I’m more of introvert and when I was younger I used to read a lot of fantasy books. I liked to imagine different things but then it was a normal daydream. It became more less maladaptive when I was about 13 yo. I didn’t affect my studying or anything but it was triggered by long walks, going by bus or learning to music. I actually liked it, because it helped me to escape reality from time to time and I really enjoyed it. A problem started when last year it became my routine and every time I walk somewhere, doesn’t matter whether with my class or not, I daydream. I feel that I make stupid faces and it happened a few times that I caught myself giggling to myself. It became exhausting at some point. It’s hard to stop it since it feels natural. I became separated from other people, because on one hand I love daydreaming and being by my self, but also sometimes I feel lonely and mad at myself and lack of social integrations. Also the problem is for me became that it is harder to keep an eye contact, which is kind an annoying. I hope I’ll be able to stop it one day

The worst reason to have MD is because of a *BIG* goal you want to reach. And I mean *BIG.* It’s so far but and when you keep thinking of your ideas of what you want to do, you unintentionally suck yourself into these addicting universes of you and others that you’ve met, or have seen in some form of fantasy. Or at least for me, that’s how I got here. But I’m working on it ✌️
