    Wow -- great job. What a placement for the fuel filter, so much labor (or relative expertise) to reach. Am I overreacting that this seems like bad design, or are all engines of this type similar in terms of this particular component? Enjoyable watching you deal with it so competently.

      You make a good point. It's a bit harder than it should be, but it's doable by someone with moderate mechanical skills. I hope I didn't make it look to hard! But then again, if it looks too easy then someone who shouldn't be doing it might try and get stuck or do something wrong.

I am still drawn to Trona and have seen many videos; I hope to visit the town and this canyon someday; Lord willing ! Thanks again for such awesome videos of Trona and surrounding areas ! I remember back in the day we had pet turtles for awhile that we got from the desert…probably not ok nowadays ?…

      A qualified yes. Conditions vary so I could not guarantee it, but with a little skill it should be doable. The lower campsites are a no-brainer.

      I think I saw the major attractions there but of course there is more. The song that made Winslow famous and was the inspiration for the downtown attraction was "Take it Easy" by the Eagles. I think it was recorded around 1972. Enjoy Winslow!

    I don't think you know what you're talking about. It's never crowded and really a "foot spray paint?" The people are nice and share the spray paint and it's cool to write something then take a pic of it to share and let others know you were there. I know they were nicer when they were first buried but even if they were untouched they wouldn't look as nice now.

  • @Cclovercollectiive

    If the cars had sat there untouched the entire time they would be severely weathered & not look much better than they do with paint on them. Why get upset when it was installed as an art piece in the first place, let the art continue.

    • @fiestaadventures
      @fiestaadventures 13 дней назад

      Thanks for the comment, but I respectfully disagree with your assessment. But I also realize they are beautiful to some people and that’s fine, it’s just an opinion. You can see from the comments that some people think the place is wonderful, and others think it’s an eyesore. Nobody is wrong. It’s just how you feel about it. And whether you like Cadillac Ranch or not, it does not determine whether or not you are a miserable person.

    Your opinions about graffiti are not as strong as mine. People who intentionally wreck the planet shouldn't get to live on it. Parents who don't teach kids proper respect and don't supervise them should not get to reproduce. Obviously, retailers restricting sale of spray paint hasn't had much deterrence. A longtime resident in our community suggested a more creative solution: The consequence when getting caught vandalizing should be the vandal has to perform community service on a substantial section of walls to paint over the graffiti himself and be assigned to monitor it for 6 months. Any time graffiti appears on their section of wall, they have to repaint. The idea was for the vandals to put pressure on peers not to deface community property since the burden to restore it would be on them, anyway.

    I think it's nice. As someone who grew up in Amarillo not very rich at all, it was something that was fun and free (relatively cheap if you buy spray paint to use). There's not a whole lot to do here that doesn't cost money (or doesn't cost a lot of money), but that's one of those things. I have fond memories of that place, and the sunsets are absolutely gorgeous out there. I also remember being out there and thinking about all the names that've been left there by people and feeling kind of awestruck. I think it's a very cool thing that it's become a place where people leave their mark, albeit small, on the world. It's fascinating and rather beautiful to think about how many other people have stood in the same place as you. Maybe there's beauty in chaos. Maybe chaos isn't all ugly. Please look at the chaos a little harder and see what it's made of. You might find something you'll love.
