  • We visit the Mojave National Preserve near Nipton, CA and Searchlight Nevada. Along the way we see Desert Tortoises, visit Mojave Desert Preserve, explore an abandoned homestead at the ghost town Barnwell, CA. We then move on to Castle Mountain National Monument, and finally visit the Walking Box Ranch formerly owned by Rex Bell a silent film star in the 20's. Bell hooked up with Clara Bow, also a silent film star who is referred to as the "Marilyn Monroe of the silent film era." Bell and Bow lived at the ranch in their post Hollywood days and raised two sons. A splendid day of exploring in the Mojave Desert!

I spent the day out there a few years ago. We had a great time. Only a couple of hours from Vegas.

Thanks for the comment! I was overseas for a while, traveling in Thailand have posted videos on a separate channel called Thailand Travels. As it turns out I’m heading out tomorrow to Death Valley and will be shooting some interesting videos on this trip. I’ll post them as soon as I can but it shouldn’t be long. Thanks in advance for your patience.

I really enjoy your travels and the info you provide. Hope to retire in a couple years and travel to some of the places you've gone. Do you think a 4x4 truck camper would be able to traverse the areas you explore in your van? Thanks for your content😁

Thank you for the comment. My 4x4 Sprinter is a great off road vehicle but with a couple of major limitations. It is top heavy and does not manage off-camber trails well. Also it's quite heavy at nearly 10,000 lbs. I'm guessing a full height camper would suffer from the same limitations but be at least equal to the Sprinter in off road capability. A pop-up camper like something from 4 Wheel Camper would likely be far superior to my Sprinter in off road conditions. Good luck on your travels!
