Nice ride. Love that trailer. I pull a 36ft withe a one ton. It's alright but yours would be better lol. Enjoyed the video, much oblige!!!
Hey I have a question if you can point me in the right direction. 05 fummins f350 with an Sct x4 tuner my Question is on transmission Downshifts, hard coming to a stop. And when you're coming down a hill When you let off the throttle, it will downshift hard Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
I recently bought a 2008 F250 that has a 12 valve and is running the 5R110 off a PCS standalone controller. Turns out the TPS was dead when I bought it, and I had no way of knowing that, because the stupid PCS has no protection features, and me driving a few hundred miles with no TPS completely cooked the transmission. I know that it's better to run the 5R110 off the Ford computer, but that would require a whole new custom wiring harness, so I'm thinking I'm just gonna trash the 5R110 and swap in a manual to keep things simple. Probably a G56.
My family owned a few different Stockyards from the 70’s until about 2007 or so I should know but I think I’ve unconsciously forgotten when we finally sold our last sale barn in Arab Alabama. I was too young to work in the first two Stockyards we owned in the 70’-early 80’s (Fort Payne) and early 80’s-88’ (Sand Mountain). Even in between owning Sand Mtn and Arab my father managed another Stockyard in Ashville Al. So needless to say I literally grew up in a barn. I loved going with my dad, uncle, grandfather, or a family friend and employee to help load customers cattle and a lot of times catching the cattle for the customers and hauling them back to the Stockyard. Eventually I got my license and was occasionally doing the driving and going out pickup up for customers myself by 16 or 17. The older I got the more often I was called on to do that job. In northeast Alabama it’s very mountainous in most area’s with valleys growing less and less full of pastures and farms and more often sold in small house size plots that are worthless for any type farming. Anyway before 88 we used gas burning trucks. I remember squarebody chevy dually’s with 454’s V8’s that would suck the fuel. Before my birth it was done without pulling a trailer. Think taking a rollback style cab and frame and putting a cage (for lack of better words) behind the cab over the axle. Some were up to 20-24 foot long. Finally we got an 88 ford super duty with a diesel (why owe why not a 1st gen dodge idk) and put the miles on it for years. It didn’t like the long pulls up the mtn passes and finally we bought a 99 f-450 7.3 of course turbo powered and it was shit but a revelation once I talked dad into getting it tuned a bit. I was in on buying the next truck that we had at the same time as the f-450. I found a good deal on a 2000 something Dodge 24 valve 4x4 and a second “revelation” in cattle hauling came to pass. It was always hooked up to a 32’ gooseneck built in the same way as the trailer in the video. The 450 did better with our 32’ aluminium. Anyway it was the best job ever but I didn’t realise that until it was too late and we had sold out of the beef cattle industry completely. It’s now all but impossible for me to get back in other than possibly buying a truck and trailer and basically hotshot hauling but that’s at minimum 40-50k for used equipment. The world is in a bad place when someone with my rare knowledge of the cattle industry (especially for someone under 60 years old as I’m a fresh and young 41 lol) can’t put that background and knowledge to use in the industry without family money or maybe marrying into a ranch/farm. I don’t know how exactly we are gonna feed our growing population both legal citizens and all the illegal people coming daily. It’s mostly my own fault along with my parents that we sold our own farm and thought we wanted out. We had seen at least a thousand head of cattle go thru the sale every week for years and usually kept a 125-150 steers we were preconditioning for bigger outfits. Needless to say we thought we were ready to be through with cattle but idk 3-5 years later we all quietly and then loudly missed everything about it. Anyway I better get down from my soapbox and say I love the truck you can’t beat a Cummings.
How did you get lockup in 1st??
The sct tuner I’m using would let me set lock up to my desired time
@@thefumminspagerpope4452 I wonder if HP tuners can do that. My trans tuner told me he couldn’t make the truck do lockup like that but I really want it to
@@CheeseWheel03 definitely should be able too
@@thefumminspagerpope4452 is that lockup function only in tow haul, or do you always have that lockup timing?
@@CheeseWheel03 they way I had it set up was on throttle position. Over 10mph it would lockup if throttle position was over 40% no matter the mode
How about propane injection?
Awesome were did you get your Trans tune?
Twin turbo?????? Not compound?????
Yes compound. I know it’s not a true twin it’s a compound, I say twin turbos as in 2 for reference to it having 2 turbos. Most people don’t know the difference. Sometimes I say twin and sometimes I say compounds. Just depends on the day
You'll be replacing the transmission soon driving in over drive. Push the button on the end of the shifter to take it out of over drive. Congrats on purchase.
I would like to see under the hood to see how you have your turbo's set up in the day light
What program are you using on the android device? And how is the charging cord routed? It looks really clean the way you did it
Will a dead alternator/battery stop a 12v from running? I have a ZF6.
If you’re using the shut off solenoid and you loose all voltage yes. But if you have it on a cable then no. That’s the only thing that needs power on a 12 valve
@@thefumminspagerpope4452 I kinda want to have the electric cutoff solenoid that’s key activated for normal driving. But a cable actuated override for if there’s an electrical fault. Is that possible?
@@LimaTangoZulu yes that’s absolutely doable. I have the solenoid and have never had a problem. Had an alternator go out and still drove 100 miles
@@thefumminspagerpope4452do you happen to know the part # for the manual cable type shutoff solenoid for the p-pump?
I liked what you did with the air horn and I'd like to get more details on how you made it?
Stock Torque converter?
Yes
How can I get information about a coming swap?
Were you able to get check engine light to cut off? If not how do you get around a safety DOT inspection?
I love your videos and I love that your testimonial for this kinda build and so educated on it. I personally want to do a 05-07 f250 swap don’t know if manual or auto is good and for motor was thinking 97 12v or a 99 24v with a p pump swap. I am curious to know what’s the most you ever had gross weight and did your truck struggle on that load ?
Most gross was 42k and it pulled just fine just wasn’t fun to stop. A comfortable weight is about 36k total
Love the fummins videos…also appreciate all your advice getting my build done! If you get a chance…we would love to see an update on the “ultimate towing fummins” now that you have a few miles on it!
Thanks! The truck is still doing great over 600,000 on the engine and 300 on the truck still getting the job done
So you drive the truck using the 123 Lock doesnt allow any higher gears? Thanks for all of the info!
Great trucks but they needed to be a manual trans to do any real towing.
Why 12 value is the value better then then 24 value i need to know before i buy the wrong one ?? Please give me a answer
Cool! in eu we would be never allowed to build those kind of trailers, or tow those.
Wow really? What do you have to use??
@@thefumminspagerpope44523500kg is maximum weight what we can tow. Building your own trailer is very regulated, it is almost always easier to buy whole new trailer. Gooseneck is not allowed here.
@@AmisCorolla wow I am sorry about that lol Buying a trailer would be an option but they are way too expensive for what I needed
I just stumbled across this and this is the same idea I am planning to do to my trailer. Any tips, photos, things you would do differently?
Man that loadstar is nasty, and bro check out dps turbonator, that thing makes the s400s even spool up fast as hell.
Yessir I’ve got my eye on one they are just pricy lol
Glad to see you back bud. Sweet truck!
Thanks man!
I'm wondering about the DT466 engines how come these international trucks have a Doghouse in the middle
Well the hood is very short and the engine is really long, so it’s the only option to just have a big dog house
Nice truck, lot of getting use to shifting gears .
Yes for sure
Love these International Loadstar series trucks
Hell ya driver!
In for compound 7.3
Do you have a problem with rain getting in those stacks?
Well idk lol I park under a shed at night, and driving in the rain it has no issues
Kinda mpg you get?
Loaded is 10-11 empty is 18
Wheres the fummins?
Still driving it every day! Getting close to 700,000 miles on the engine now
@@thefumminspagerpope4452 i finally got mine going a while back, now I’m all over dallas doing service truck stuff.
That’s great, gotta make that money lol I’ll be in Lufkin for a semi truck show in October, I’ll have the international there maybe the ford too
Like the 2 nd gen on the rear
Sweet
Need more videos of the builds
10-4 will make it happen
Love this set up! I need that trailer
I did a 2008 F450 with a 12v, it worked great. But what i noticed is you need a GOOD THROTTLE LINKAGE... Mines a industrial rngine so it didnt have a regular pickup style setup. That messed with the shift points if my 5r110w... I will 100% get rid of the trash fan clutch/pully.... Gonna convert it to a 7.3 Powerstroke clutch, witch gives a better style plastic fan (bigger too) I had issues here and there, but ALL were from the cummins side of things, just parts that broke or failed. The engine has 6,000km on it from favtory... But i needed to convert it to a pickup style, and used rockauto parts lmao... They alsmost all failed on me
Awesome build…watched all videos! About to dive into a 2010 6.4 swap. May need to lean on you for advice…especially when it comes to getting the 5r110 to play nice with the Cummins!
YES!!!🏁🏁🏁
Could you do a update on the fummins truck now that you have the zf6 been following for a few years and wounder how its going. Thanks have a 04 4x4 with a zf6 and a 12 valve and looking to compund it. What clutch are you using hows it holding up?
Yessir I can It has a southbend dual disc ceramic Everything is great with the truck and running strong. Close to 700k miles on engine now
@thefumminspagerpope4452 thank you your the man I love that you practiced up on your aluminum welding and made your own piping. Sounds like a expensive skill but has encouraged me to spend the time and money to take it on.
@@Ryan-il5og yes to get started on aluminum tig welding is expensive lol but well worth it!!
Why the 6 function remote with only 2 solenoid valves? Do you have the 3rd hooked up to something else not in the video?
At that time it was not hooked up. Now it locks and unlocks the dove tail
@@thefumminspagerpope4452 ah I gotcha. Right on man
super sick! please post an update when possible
Informative video, inherited an 03 F350 with the dreaded 6.0. Want to swap a p-pump 12v into it. I wasn't planning on using the ford tranny though. Really want ALL the computers deleted.
Hey how did your shift transmission
Not sure if you plan on it but just a simple tune makes these trucks a whole lot nicer to tow with will make more around the 25 pound range of boost and just like I said more enjoyable
Much better in the cab now
LMAO! I saved that white truck to my Pinterest account a few years ago! Now i see it again
