For anyone asking why I used the ProV1 as comparison and not the X remember the 2017 ProV1 is the most popular selling ball and spins LESS than the 2017 ProV1x, BUT MORE IMPORTANTLY
The comparison/review is not to show which one is better (because my impacts will not be different than yours, and yours will different to someone else etc) but to give an impression of how the guerrilla balls compare to the market leader. There will also be a video coming where I reveal the prices. In this series I tested three guerrilla balls initially.

I just did this, myself, oddly enough. I found the Vice ball to be fantastic off the tee and fairway. I tried the Bridgestone tour, Snell, and am going to get the Jack N. ball as well. So far, I am loving the Snell and Vice. Hope you try the Snell ball.

5 dozen headed to Hawaii, $26 a box... we'll see, I'm a 125 club head speed guy, concerned I'll over spin these but I can always sell em so I have that going for me, which is nice:-) thanks Pete for taking the time to do these consumer tests, sooo appreciated my friend

Sam Rankin I like em, the Bridgestone B330 is my go to but the Vice is great. Cover not as durable is maybe the only flaw in them. Feels soft flies great stops spins everything...

Please try the Snell ball. It’s from the r and d guy that helped developed the pro v1 and than the Taylor ball, than left and created his own ball.

Pete, For us golfers that just play what we find. Test an old Pro-V1 that's been stuck in the mud or lost in the rough for awhile against a new Pro-V1. Now that's real data I need to know:)

    • @lawrenceshdow
      @lawrenceshdow 6 лет назад +10

I've been asking different testers/reviewers to do this for ever. It just doesn't happen. I don't think these guys believe we play the balls we find; I think most of us do it though.

    • @Dude0000
      @Dude0000 4 года назад +1

John Buick it’s because the best players play pro v1 and in competition they only had 5 mins to find them. Now it’s 3 min, there should be more pro v’s around...

    • @golfingCitizen

    • @SS-dm5iy

@@lawrenceshdow I'm not particularly good, mid-handicapper, but I can't stand playing balls I find. I don't know where they have been, how old they are, and then they are all different brands and models. I bought a 5 pack of Vice Pro balls a couple years ago for about $125 and have been running on them ever since. Still have half that order left. I like to know my ball is going to be the same as the last ball I hit.

Try reviewing Snell. I play the Snell MTB and really like it. In my experience it has a little more distance off the tee than a ProV but has a little less check up on the green. Definitely like your reviewing these types of balls. If more people start using them the big guys will have to lower their prices.

Tried them out when then made Golf Digest gold list for the first time and have been using them ever since. I noticed no difference and the fact that they were half the price was a big factor in making the switch for me. I also get them custom printed so I always know that it’s my ball. Great test by the way!

I’ve used one of these balls today...I was very impressed with it...hence I looked up the reviews...It did launch higher for me..which I found helpful as I tend to be a bit steep with my irons and hit low ball flights....great price mark as well....

Bought my first case of vice pro plus as a tester. I am about a 14 handicap. I am one hop stopping chips with a lob wedge. I am getting about 2 feet of back spin on approach shots. Am buying the 5 cases for 130 bucks on Friday and will continue to play this ball forever!! Absolutely love it and can’t beat the price. They also have some pretty insane customization options to make the ball all your own. Great video thank you for the data! Confirmed my feelings and experience.

Very good video and in depth research. I've been getting back into golf and after losing a bunch of ProV1's I picked up a pack of Vice Pro Plus Neon Green balls which are easier to find out on the course. As I've been improving (and losing less balls) I've still gone back to the same Vice Balls. For the price and my skill level its a great value for a premium ball. Thanks

Thank you so much for conducting this test. I'm a Brit who now lives in the US so not only is it wonderful to hear a familiar accent, the increased spin off the driver with this ball means I can play the M1 440. Previously my spin was too low to use the M1. I appreciate I am out of the ordinary but I tried all the premium balls to no avail. I can also confirm the Vice Pro+ is only very slightly behind the ProV1 for me with a 6 iron and for $25 a dozen when you order 5 dozen, a total no brainer.
If you get a chance, it could be fun to try the Honma 6 piece TW-G6

I bought one of those selection packs, and am working my way through them. As a senior golfer, I was very impressed with the distance improvement I got from the "Drive" ball over the ProV1s I usually play. I picked up a good 10 or more yards. Right now, I'm trying the Pro+ and finding it seems a bit longer than a ProV1 but doesn't seem that much more spinny around the greens than the Drive. In my experience,, nothing spins as well or stops faster than a ProV1. However, I haven't yet tried the Pro or the Pro Soft, so more to come. I did not care for the Tour ball. It didn't seem to spin any better than the Drive or the Pro+.
Now, as to prices. HUGE difference compared to the Titleist products. The top line balls (Pro, Pro+, Pro Soft) are HALF the price of ProV1s, and the Drive model is only $11/dozen! Great value when you consider the price/performance vs the Titleist products.
Oh, one more thing. It could be that the Vice balls lose performance after a couple rounds. Not sure yet as my game is not consistent enough to tell. After I try the Pro and Pro Soft models, I'm going to buy a dozen of at least one model. The Drive is a definite, but I have yet to decide on another one if any.

I used to play only with Pro V1 until I played with the Vice Pro+. They are just as good. and 1/2 the price. For $6.00 they will put whatever logo you want on the ball for as many dozen as you buy for $6. They are a great company. Great job Peter. Really enjoy everything you do. I watch everyday!!!! Really hope you get to play in the Open next year.

    Great ball review, sir.
I switched from ProV1x after playing it for over 15 years to Vice Pro+ a year ago and have absolutely loved it and am not looking back. It plays a little softer than the ProV1x to my liking and prefer slightly less spin ball with my wedges. I love the colored choices with Vice. The fade yellow & orange I love the most because I can see it very well; you can't ever miss that ball in the air and on the ground, and it's a cool color. The price is another story in itself. The 5-dozen + a free dozen which is equivalent to $26/dozen for premium balls is crazy good. I paid twice as much for a dozen of ProV1.

Hi Peter, great video. Only thought for the next viedos, could you put in the Clubhead speed, dynamic loft and and attak angle. Those values will acutally generate the ballflight values and so you can get a better feeling for the diffrent values and if they because of the ball or because of strike.

I found a Vice Pro and played a round with it, nice and just as good as the ProV1x that I normally play. If you go to their website, you have to buy at least five dozen to make it worth the money, comes down to around $26.00 a dozen, not bad.

Great , honest review👍🏽Two years ago iIn a club matchplay game I played with ProV1x hit my second shot on a par 5 in the rough. My opponent called that he found my Titleist and It was at the place you would expected it to be. I looked and saw the white ball and hit it to the green, close for birdie. I marked my ball and than saw that it was a Vice Pro. Of course mentioned it to my opponent and lost the hole. And of course it was stupid not to check the ball thoroughly before hitting it 🙄At that moment never heard of Vice. But kept playing it , did won the match and after that bought the Vice Pro plus and love the ball. Indeed similar to the Vice Pro X old but at half the price. So why throw away extra money for a Titleist ball if the results with the Vice Pro plus are similar ....and love the "feel". With the money saved you can do other nice things......

Hi Pete great review of the golf ball test, I've been using the Vice pro for over a year now and find them excellent golf balls, I'm a 6 handicap player sadly going up over the last ten years! But I played the pro v for over 30 years well Titliest brand going back to 90 compression golf balls showing my age yes I know! But for value you can't go wrong, can't remember exactly to the penny but I ordered 6 dozen for I believe £114 rings a bell now that's value. Played golf for 45 years and I can't see much or any difference in ball performance so I'm a fan of the vice pro ball, yes I agree with the slight colour change but at over half the price you can change the ball mid round if needed and your still better off. Also delivery to your home within 5 working days can't go wrong really, leather golf gloves are also very good quality definitely worth looking at. Keep up the good work really enjoy your videos.

I bought the pro plus balls in all the colors and I can say they perform well for my novice game ability lol. They do get more launch high than then when I play other balls and where I play at Monarch Dunes in Nipomo California, they definitely are affected by the wind when hit so high. I have to learn the best way to hit them still but I’m very happy with the color options and performance of these balls

I tried out the Vice Pro about a month ago. It is now my permanent ball. You get a discount the more you order on site. They just perform great. In particular Ive been getting great spin on low irons and the feel of them on chipping for me at least is exceptional. I don't know what it is but since I started playing them my game improved mostly on my irons play. I did try the "Tour" version as well but it felt... harder to me. Once I tried the Pro that was it.

Great video Pete. Clearly this comparison was one people were dying to see. A buddy of mine has been using nothing but Vice for 2 yrs now (he even rocks a Vice Scottish flag hat). I definitely can vouch for the performance of these balls and haven't really seen any discoloration issues. The only minor gripe I have about Vice balls is that you've gotta buy like 5 doz at a time to get a significant discount. The balls are great and you'll eventually go through them all but still, it's a large chunk of change to throw down at one time.

Purchased 6 dozen Pro+. Never going back to ProV1 for the fact that in Canada, after taxes, they are $78 a box. I picked up 6 dozen for $200 shipped to my door. Can’t beat that for basically the same ball.
3 handicap. I endorse this ball for anyone and everyone to try (If you think you’re a player)

Both Snell and Vice make exceptional golf balls. Every spring I grab a sleeve of every ball available and test them just in case I play one better than my current choice. I have always preferred a Titleist golf ball all the way back to my childhood in the early 90s. There are so many great balls out today, but I still find that the pro v1 is the best choice for me. I played a pro v1x for one season, but switched back when the new pro v1 was released. For me, Titleist has the best ball in golf. The pro v1 and v1x are changed, updated, and improved every few years, but for me they still are above the rest. However, there are other great golf balls that are much cheaper than Pro-v1 balls. play what's best for you.

Hey Peter. You should test the Volvik S3. I'm absolutely amazed by it. Cheers

Pete, nice test! Thoughts on durability? iirc, the one knock on the Kirkland ball is it scuffs more than the Pro V1.

They are great balls and the price especially in bulk is awesome. Service is great. While I have new custom fit titleist irons...they will probably be hitting vice balls quite regularly.

Loving your work, Pete! Can you add club head speed to your data sets in future ball tests? Obviously your club head speed isn't going to be identical on each swing, so we lose a bit on context on ball speed without knowing club head speed.

I play the vice, and i love them. But my question is what camera and editing software are you using? Because the quality now feels like pro production. its amazing

Great video. As the BBC’s interest in golf wanes thank goodness for RUclips.
Never forget your roots, for most golfers price does matter when it come to selecting a golf ball to play. Some manufacturers spend a lot of money telling you that their product is great and that goes in to the pricing of the balls. Other companies like Nassau and their Quattro 4 piece ball do not spend much (virtually nothing) on the marketing and just let the ball do the talking, which means golfers can play a great ball at an affordable price.

I'd love to see you or Rick start gaming the Vice's out on the course. Even get some of their Neon colors as well. Add a little flair.

They raised the price on the vice since this video. Trying out the Vice Pro + now and its nice

Hey Pete, I also Play the Vice Balls and must say the Performance is outstanding. Given the fact that we amateurs do loose quite some balls the price-performance Ratio is perfekt. From my point of View you could not distinguish Performance vs a titleist except from its feel.

I game the Vice Pro Plus quite often and purely on "on course" perception it is as close to my primary gamer the Pro V1X that I have come across to date and I like to try as many different balls as I can. It's a great ball and I can't say I have had any issues with discolouration.

I play the Vice Pro and can honestly say its the best ball I have consistently used. They are very durable I played one ball for two full rounds (no cart paths hit) with the ball holding up very well. For me the only balls that compare are the TP5 (best on the greens putting and chipping) and ProV1s (best on long iron shots with feel) but all around I give it to the Vice.

I just started playing the Vice Pro + this year. I was able to get six dozen balls for $131(USD) with shipping included. That's half the price when compared to other tour balls. It's a great ball for people who enjoy the playability and feel of a tour ball but don't want to break the bank to do so. For anyone that is curious, I would definitely recommend them. Especially given Peter's test results.

Pete have you tried the Snell ball? Dean Snell worked at Titleist and Taylormade. I like the ball a lot.
