I went golfing last week and think I may have hit a world record for amount of trees hit in an 18 hole round. Like, I did the math, and it was atleast 54 trees
I made a "barky" par the other day with an AVX after hitting an 8 iron 2nd shot straight into the trunk of a tree which bounced back at me and left me 10 yds further... Then hit the next 8 iron THROUGH the 90% air of the tree to 8 inches...
Jim Powell speaking. I just recently tried a sleeve of AVX. I play the ProV1, so I was a bit skeptical of the AVX. To my surprise the very first T shot was about 8 yards longer and the trajectory was indeed some lower, but the roll out was really great. Around the greens both the ProV1 and AVX were quite similar. I am a 77 year old senior who hits my tee shot 210 to 220 yards, so getting that 5-8 yards longer means a shorter club in for me. Will use both of these balls for more comparison, but I must say I really liked the AVX performance for all 18 holes.
Rick. You don't know this but you cured my shank today with one of your older videos. This means that if I won these I wouldn't simply shank them into a hedge anymore. Thanks for all of your help.
This is one of my favourite reviews you’ve done, Rick. I’ve always just brought golf balls depending on what I ‘think’ is best, but now I’ve just been fitted for a new driver I know I need a low spinning ball - guess I’ll be getting the AVX then! Thanks 👍🏼
Just hit the AVX last week and I can say they are perfect for me. They hit well in the wind and they spin fine on irons. I would recommend them for those who play in wind or spin too much. It has helped straighten my driving out too.
Great review! Played my first round with the 2020 AVX and absolutely love it. I struggled with high spin with the ProV1x so I was losing distance. I was hitting the AVX much longer off the Tee 10-15 yards and about an iron less. It putts like a dream. Very nice ball.
I usually only hit prov1, but I found an avx and decided to try it out. I hit the avx lower, straighter, and longer. It definitely get better to me, but I only have one!
Thanks for making this a little more clear! Does the AVX best work for those of us who don’t have a swing speed of 115 mph? I have a struggle getting over 90mph.
I love the Pro V1. And best of all, I find enough of them that I basically play for free. Haven't bought a golf ball in years. Thank you, all who hit Pro V1 into the bushes!
I enjoy all your videos. I had previously subscribed to a large number of golf videos but had limited the videos to only yours. For me, your videos are very easy to follow and make the best sense. I have my swing to a number of tips that you have given and find that my game has improved tremendously.i am 79 years old and my handicap has dropped from 20 to 16 thanks to you. If only my chipping could get better.
Aww dang. The club I'm at actually is in the few states that were selected for the trial run before Titleist went live with these. right out of the box I could tell the difference in distance, trajectory, and spin. as someone who spins the ball way too much, it was like a blessing. hope you guys get them soon!
Great review. I’m a 14 HC and I’ve been using AVXs this season. It’s helped me off the tee with less spin for sure. A lot more “dead” straight shots when I strike the ball well. Also really like the feel on the green. I’ve always had a sleeve of Pro Vs for putting practice and loved the feel. I think the AVX is the best of both worlds, especially for a mid handicapper
Ever consider letting mid handy capper help or give input with ball testing? My swing speed being 100 ish, the performance from balls does not seem to match your results lol
If I'm researching any golf club, or golf related product, I search for a Rick Shields review. I trust your comments and appraisals. Plus, your sense of humor adds that extra punch. Keep up the good work
Excellent comparisons. I’m a 7 handicap that hits a flat lower flighted trajectory. I now know why the ProV1x works better for my ball flight. Grew up in the Bay Area where there’s a prevailing 20-25mph wind and had to keep ball flight below tree line level or else you’d lose your ball. Us lower ball hitters benefit from the higher ball flight of the 1x.
I did a Titleist ball fitting a few weeks ago and they had me hit all three. The spin and flight were low to high....AVX, Pro V1 and Pro V1x. He said the Pro V1 was the best fit. I have played them for a while and am happy with them. They also gave me two 2-ball sleeves.
I have been using the PRO VI and PROVIX for many years. Then came in the Volvik crystal golf balls which I thought was very good. Last week I used an AVX with my Driver…a silent thud and the ball flew and good 15 yds beyond my usual length….thinking it was a fluke I thought I would use it on the driving range….the sound off the face is definitely different…with a cushioning effect…and definitively longer. Just ordered 2 boxes online.👍👍👍
Thank you for the review. With your ball speed, I would expect the results. I am 65 years old and had several spinal surgeries but still a 6 hcp with a much slower swing speed. I played the Pro V1 for 10 years. I changed to the AVX 2 months ago. I gained distance and feel. I shoot 2-5 strokes lower per round on average.
Hey Rick, I am here in the states and I work for a sports company. One of my areas is the Golf Dept and am an avid golfer myself.I have been watching your reviews and have used them when customers have questions. We do carry the V1, V1x, and the AVX. Since I have been watching your reviews I can now use this one when a customer wants to know the difference between the three. I have also used your reviews on Drivers, Irons and instructions. Thanks for some of the best reviews I have seen keep up the good work. Good Golfing...Jim Bartosch
Thank you so much Rick. I appreciate your commitment and dedication to the accurate assessment of ALL products out here in the Golf world. And I thank you for the giving of your life to do it. I surely hope that life is treating you as well as you’re treating us. Cheers from PEI Canada 🇨🇦
A couple of my long time Pro v1 player friends tried this ball and didn't prefer the sound. They both thought is sounded thin off the driver. See what happens. Love your videos, thanks!
Great review rick! Everything being so close the avx ball is obviously a standout in windy conditions....i switched and feel way more confident in all conditions
Great Video. I started using the new AVX on certain days. Still use ProVX. Getting older (66) and losing distance. Handicap now 12 after being 8-10 for last 10 years. My Club in Lakewood,CO a 110 year old Donald Ross Course demands straight shots to small greens. I too have noticed a lower trajectory than the ProVX. I still tend to hit the ProVX longer on a normal day without wind and I can hold the greens better. Your video confirms my findings. The putting feel is the same and the sound of the ball also similar. So depending on the wind conditions It will determine my choice that will hopefully give me a little extra edge on a particular day. So I have that going for me...Which is nice. Thank you.
I've been finding more of these as I find a lot more balls than I lose. Wondered how they compared to Pro V1(x). Learned a lot from this video. My 16 handicap, sweep with my irons, game would benefit from this ball. I have no business playing the Pro V1x. Spin is going to hurt my driver and I don't strike turf after the ball so spin is of no consequence on the short game.
Rick I've played the AVX a couple of rounds now and I LOVE IT!!!! It seems to suit my game very well both off the tee and around the greens. I play to a 12.
The avx came out in the US in 2018. I started using them 3 years ago. I love them. I get more distance. I'm 65. I have a 95mph swing speed. I get more distance. I notice no difference in spin on short shots and launch monitor showed minimal difference in spin rates on short shorts and chips. I call it the old man's pv1. I play the yellow most of the time I find it easier to see for older people for some reason.
Great video, as are all your videos. I currently play the Pro V1, but only on warm days. I'm a senior and can compress the ball better on those days. In the spring and fall, or cooler days, I use a lower compression ball. I now have the AVX as an option. Can't wait to try it.
Am now in love with this AVX Ball. Have not been a fan of the V1X due to the high spin rate. Spin is not a fan of a 18 handicapper. Today was my first round with the new AVX ball and my drives were straighter than usual, and longer than usual, due to less spin. I have not been too particular playing a specific brand, but this AVX really helped my game today. I can't believe it.
Currently using proV1X but did use Prov1 as well. Received a sleeve of avx's as a present and will never go back to other two. Felt softer, went further especially into the wind. Had to club down a club with approach shots to green. I predict within this year everybody is going to use the AVX.
Hola senor Shields from Dallas,TX. I have been watching your tutorials for a bit now and I have learned a lot and I am a fan.I recently purchased a dozen of the AVX in yellow cause I can really focus on the ball color, let's just say it works for me very well. I WAS VERY IMPRESSED and happy with my purchase and highly recommend it.The ball is great off the tee, fairway and green side short game along with great feel and roll.Keep up the great vids!
I had the same triangular dispersion when I tested all three balls, and I am not even a pro like you are. That being said, I prefer the Pro V1x because of its flight pattern. Great video that is still relevant two years later.
Thx Rick! I really enjoy these informative videos. For all of us who don’t have the tech to perform these tests. Or the skill 😆! Enjoying the run to 1 Million! Congrats on all your success!! 🇨🇦🇨🇦
Great review! My buddy is going on and on about these AVX golf balls. He says his game has changed 100% and all he had to do was sacrifice backspin on the green. I’ll make the trade off one day.
These balls for me work well... first off I hit a higher ball and they helped me with trajectory (bringing it down). I’ve scored some of my best rounds with this ball... and your comprehensive testing I can clearly see now why it works well for me... Thanks Rick. You rock
Started using the AVX last year as it was recommended to me by a pro - I hit a high ball and not the longest hitter / standard lofts on irons, so made sense to give it go. Love it, and have been using it ever since. I find it gives me a touch more length but the same feel and touch on short game as Rick said. Maybe only slight downside is I notice less spin on the green with wedge or 100 yard shots but then I don't have a quick swing or zip through the ball so that affects it too. Great review and nice to see the numbers from Rick's testing!
Thanks Rick..recently had a titleist fitting and was told Pro V1x. The AVX wasn't available to try and I was curious but thanks to you I'm thinking might it be better. Will have to try for myself I guess.
I have been playing the new AVX for the past 6 months or so & love the lower flight. Great video & I am part of Rick Shiels Nations in the USA!!! Go Rick! :)
Great comparison mate! I do like the Titleist Pro V range of balls (haven't tried the AVX) - except for one thing. None of them are bright enough. I no longer use them, preferring the Bridgestone Tour BX, but my brother always uses the Titleist and I can pick my ball a mile away because it is so much whiter. My brother has used the refurbished balls for the entire Titleist range and likes them all. Love your videos, but my wife thinks I waste far too much time watching them (obviously she's not a golfer).
High ball flighter here in Florida. For me the AVX is the best ball to play. Grew up learning all about carry distance. The 1x flights is too high with no penetration. I also feel that the AVX is a bit firmer, it helps me manipulate lower shots (probably a mental thing). I also love the sound off the putter. A little more “clicky”... but that’s just me! Cheers!
great video. I am enjoying a slightly more penetrating flight with the AVX and a few yards more total distance. it feels soft but need to wait for better conditions to judge the pitch shots spin.
Morning just join the golf ball I have hit both Avx. Vs pro vi my friend when we play he always look for prv1 he said I just find a 4 dollar ball. For me playing for almost 45 yrs I just hit all types off balls. Thanks for the information on all balls. Hope we all keep them in the shot grass. I live in Alabama. We have the Robert Trent golf course.
Love the review! I purchased ProV1 due to its ability to check on those chip shots so I like the higher spin for that reason.... however a lower spin rate feels like you’ll have more forgiveness if u slice or hook it a little! Tell me what u think....
Interesting....may be a different option to change things up for me sometimes. I'm an amateur golfer but unlike most, I don't accept bad play from myself. I'm always looking to improve and work on my game.
Hi Rick, loves your reviews!!! I found this poor lost ball yesterday and wanted to learn about this ball and found your video.after watching this I can’t wait to try them.
Just bought a new box, £35.00 i thought it was a good deal but a free box now that is a deal, im so glad this ball came on the market as i am a low spin play lower flight suits me playing northern ireland weather and links
Great work Rick! Fantastic ball, I’m reaching par 4s in one, now I’ve got to go looking on the course for some more! I lose far to many to justify actually buying some.
I need a lower spinning ball and I love the new AVX balls. My results seem to reinforce Rick's conclusions. I love the lower flight and lower spin on the longer shots but same control of the Pro V1 around the green. The AVX is a fantastic golf ball.
I am a high spin, high launch, long hitter. Thanks for your side by side comparison, because I have played Pro V1 for the past 10 years. I’m excited to try toe AVX because I feel like it will help me control my drives more. 350 yards doesn’t help if I’m in the long rough!
Great job Rick!.. now what you should do; since the vast majority of golfers in the golfing world would be considered average, and would not necessarily be using or fitted for these premium golf balls, do the same expose on the Titleist Tour Speed, Tour Soft, Velocity, and True Feel golf balls. This will round out the entire Titleist line and be very beneficial to the average player!..
I have used AVX & V1’s (not a V1x user). If I’m smashing it the AVX is great but if I’m not feeling quite as strong I find it feels a bit dead like Rick was describing off the tee. The other issue is I think the finish fades more quickly on the AVX & they look a bit dull sooner than V1’s. Tale of the tape - my three best rounds the last year were all using AVX’s.
I’m using the Tour Soft, and found for the price is a great ball. Can’t seem to spend $48 on the AVX especially with the 2018 ProV1 selling for $39. I’d like to try the AVX though. Great video Rick.

Q: What golf ball do you use? Would you try the Titleist AVX?
*If you are NEW to my channel SMASH that subscribe button to stay connected!*
I currently use Callaway supersoft, without question THE best ball I've ever played! I'd definitely try out these AVX balls!
Picked up a dozen AVX last week. So far after the first 3 or 4 rounds. I love them, just not going to continue to play them at that price point.
I currently use the srixon ad333. Wouldnt mind trying avx.
Rick Shiels Golf I have been playing the callaway chrome soft but have been wanting to try the AVX might have to after this review.
I want to try them as well. I like the color option as well.
I think I will like how the AVX sounds hitting trees. Thanks Rick
Made my day.
And going in the water
I went golfing last week and think I may have hit a world record for amount of trees hit in an 18 hole round. Like, I did the math, and it was atleast 54 trees

In an effort to improve my game, one of the statistics I keep track of is TIRs, trees in regulation.
The only time I use pro-v 1s is when I find them in the woods lol
Glad I'm not alone lol
Mee too lul
I wonder if I can tell a difference shanking them into a pond!
koenig427 😂😂😂
koenig427 it will skip a couple more times I'd guess. Ya know, lower spin.. lol
You so beat me to this comment. So what I was going to say
One floats better?
The AVX’s lower ball flight may cause additional skip across the water.
Jim Powell speaking.
I just recently tried a sleeve of AVX. I play the ProV1, so I was a bit skeptical of the AVX. Rick. You don't know this but you cured my shank today with one of your older videos. This means that if I won these I wouldn't simply shank them into a hedge anymore. Thanks for all of your help.
I played the AVX last week and loved it - hit the longest drive I've ever hit.
11 months late but great video. Been finding your instructional videos very helpful. Brand new golfer and after three weeks I finally broke 100.
Good job man keep practicing and maybe you will be the next Rick!!!
Getting my handicap soon, wish me luck!
Well?
What hdc did you get?
This is one of my favourite reviews you’ve done, Rick. I’ve always just brought golf balls depending on what I ‘think’ is best, but now I’ve just been fitted for a new driver I know I need a low spinning ball - guess I’ll be getting the AVX then! Thanks 👍🏼
My 8 year old Daughter and I love your videos. keep up the great work... Kaitlyn and Dan

yes. Unfortunately I don’t buy balls and I rarely find AVX’s, so I have so many ProV1s and V1X’s but I only have one AVX
Same!!!

Rick Shiels by far best golf videos on RUclips !
I"m a little late, but just found your channel not to long ago. but love the content. Love from the USA.
Rick is the Top Gear of Golf. Keep up the great work.
Great video, what’s not to like, lower flight, further distances, same feel, negligible difference on ball stop
I want to see a blind ball test. No bias or preconceived opinions black them out and give it a go.
Gd player can still spot a premium ball, more matt and creamy in colour
Also he's using a ball tracking device and that has no bias sooo
Yet he talks about feel..... Black out 5 premium balls mark them and do a test then rank them. It's not rocket science!!
John Wood ummmm you only test premium balls. Callaway, Bridgestone, tp5, proVs and so on. Now black them out and test why is this hard to understand?
Troy, black them out and i'll still tell you each ball. Dimple shape and colour all unique
I use TP5 but I really want to try these golf balls!!
Óliver Scheving I confirmed with a Titleist rep just today that the AVX is Titleist's attempt at rivaling the TP5 series. Definitely try these out!
Justin Salum thanks for that! 😄 I’m excited to try them but don’t they launch later in Europe?
Aww dang. The club I'm at actually is in the few states that were selected for the trial run before Titleist went live with these. right out of the box I could tell the difference in distance, trajectory, and spin. as someone who spins the ball way too much, it was like a blessing. hope you guys get them soon!
Test the Precepts the “Laddie” would be awesome I wanna know what I’m playing with compared to the Pro V
Best value ball on the market. I have used them 15 years. 💪
Anyone watching this
in lockdown
This and 30 other videos of him 😂
@@extremo6 watched about 30 videos as well
Salvador Guardiola yes in ni ireland
About a year late and have never seen this ball Great review
Ever consider letting mid handy capper help or give input with ball testing? My swing speed being 100 ish, the performance from balls does not seem to match your results lol

£50 a dozen......MADNESS !!
Garry Grant they were just released a few months ago buy used on eBay!
thank you for the info
AVX name doesn't sound like a premium ball not sure why!
I dunno ive always thought pro v1 was too close to prov1sional not professional
Yeah, maybe PRO V1A or something similar like Rick said
Excellent comparisons. I’m a 7 handicap that hits a flat lower flighted trajectory. I now know why the ProV1x works better for my ball flight. Grew up in the Bay Area where there’s a prevailing 20-25mph wind and had to keep ball flight below tree line level or else you’d lose your ball.
Love the AVX, started playing it this year and the results have been great for me. Longer off the t-box and soft enough around the greens

Excellent analysis. I’m a mid handicapper and like the low spin rate. Fewer slices. Also great for links and West Texas golf ⛳️ Courses.

Used an AVX for the first time today at Sickleholme GC. Very impressed and will definitely be using these in the future

Back golfing after a long hiatus due to raising kids and my game is improving rapidly due to your videos. Thank you!!
Been using these this yr for the first time and enjoying the performance of them coupled with new ping irons and arccos
Rick. I agree I played the Avx in Florida in windy conditions and loved them but I would have to say my favorite is still the ProV 1
Currently using proV1X but did use Prov1 as well. Received a sleeve of avx's as a present and will never go back to other two. Felt softer, went further especially into the wind. Had to club down a club with approach shots to green. I predict within this year everybody is going to use the AVX.

I love the AVX in the wind, a great ball. Derek Groves
Just bought a dozen of them love the feel and lower spin. These will be my new ball.
Love Ricks content and reviews , straightforward, honest and light.. but really useful to amateur goofers…top guy
Agree on the naming - should have been Pro V0 or Pro V1,2,3
Thx Rick! I really enjoy these informative videos. For all of us who don’t have the tech to perform these tests. Or the skill 😆! Enjoying the run to 1 Million! Congrats on all your success!! 🇨🇦🇨🇦

Been using AVX since it was introduced and I do see longer distances with great spin.
Great review! My buddy is going on and on about these AVX golf balls. He says his game has changed 100% and all he had to do was sacrifice backspin on the green. I’ll make the trade off one day.
In Texas, the AVX is my ball of choice with wind and dry conditions I play in all the time, plus I have found I like yellow balls over white.
Thorough review that allows you to make an informed choice on your premium ball choice
Just ordered a sample of all golf balls from titleist and most excited about the AVX. Thanks for the great review again Rick
These balls for me work well... first off I hit a higher ball and they helped me with trajectory (bringing it down). I’ve scored some of my best rounds with this ball... and your comprehensive testing I can clearly see now why it works well for me...
Thanks Rick. You rock
Thanks, Rick. Seems perfect for slightly lower swing speeds?
Great test. After switching between V, X and the AVX, your test confirms AVX is my ball.
I’m currently using Titleist NXT Tour golf balls. I would definitely try the AVX.
Great review and nice to see the numbers from Rick's testing!
always wondered what the difference was between the Prov1 and ProV1X was ... thanks for clearing that up
I’m going to try the AVX, I currently play the ProV1x, but I’m now a 9 HCP with a slower swing speed.
Go Rick! :)
Used pro v1 for years love them. After your testing I am going to try AVX. ball. Thanks for your great tests Frank...
Great reveiw Rick. Didn't know anything about AVX, but now I do. Seems like Titleist got them self a nice trio balls there. Thanks.
Decided on the Snell MTB and I love the affordability of them!
My son absolutely loves your videos, keep up the good work.
Hi Rick, loves your reviews!!! I found this poor lost ball yesterday and wanted to learn about this ball and found your video.after watching this I can’t wait to try them.
Just tried the AVX ball compared to the TP5. Used Arccos for distance and I gained 20 yards over the tp5. All I say is wow. Going to give them a try.
Rick this is great! While I am not as good as you I found the same results you did! Thanks for the analysis.
Thanks for the detailed review of the AVX. Found one on the course a couple weeks ago, and played a couple rounds with it. Great feeling ball...
Excellent! You’ve helped me a lot to decide about it!! Awesome, greetings from Spain
Hey Rick, I don't need any free stuff, I love the testing and tips....And I just Got my First ACE.
Par 3, 140 in the wind with a 7 iron, Thanks Mate .
I love these balls. Shot an 83 the other day (first time below 90) and the feel of the AVX was brilliant. I'm looking forward to the next round
Enjoy all of your reviews. I may be moving from TP5x to AVX after this video. Keep up the good work Rick.
A very thorough and informative review. As a Pro V1x user for years, you've given me a reason to try the AVX.
I’m using the Tour Soft, and found for the price is a great ball. Can’t seem to spend $48 on the AVX especially with the 2018 ProV1 selling for $39. I’d like to try the AVX though. Great video Rick.
Totally agree with name prov1L low spin. Just that would make me want to try it more
