After watching this video, I went out and bought the Maxfli Tour. The Maxfli Tour was rated #1 for mid speed, and my driver speed is 92-95 mph. I’ve been searching for a gamer ball for the past two years, and just couldn’t find a ball that suits me. I’d been going back and forth between the TM tour response, and the Srixon z-star divide and q-star tour divides. I usually shoot mid-80’s, but played my first round with the Maxfli Tour today. One ball lasted the whole round, although I did notice it took a little damage on the first hole’s sand trap. Still played it, and played it well. Shot a 78. Feels very soft off the driver, like it seriously feels like it’s flattening out like a pancake. But I love the way it springs off the face of the club. Mid irons released on the greens more than I’d like, but still playable. Chips were fantastic, you could really get after it and park it tight within putting distance. Putting for me felt great. I like a soft feeling ball and this one I felt it could strike it and not worry about zooming it 6 feet passed the hole. At $104 for 48 balls, this may be my new gamer.

As someone who falls into the 105+ club head speed, the supersoft is too soft and compresses too much for me. My preferred ball is the Maxfli tour or srixon z star xv.
But for someone who has a slow or mid swing speed, the callaway supersoft make great affordable balls.

Just got fitted and bought Taylormade 2022 Stealth irons (5-PW) and the fitter recommended their Tour Response. Saw that it changed some since your test of 2020. So I'll keep using the balls I have now (B RXS) until it id time to buy new balls (don't lose them as often now a-days) and come back to you to see if my ~85 mph at age 79+ I can still benefit from the new and improved ones. THANKS for this data! Sometimes a change in balls within a swing speed range is less than 10 feet so "feel" and cost may play a bigger role than I thought before. Thanks again!

Bottom line, I have been playing the AVX for the last two years.......until I discovered the Left Dash about a month ago and fell in love with the ball and now your testing confirms what I have been finding on the course. I find some golf balls fly straighter off the tee than others when dealing with my tendency to slice/fade. To me that's more important than distance. Bridgestone Tour BX and Taylormade TP5X are the 2 best for me, to date. Thanks for distance comparison, though !!

Keep in mind this data pertains only to 36 urethane covered golf balls, and a Pinnacle Range ball all from their August 2021 ball test. So only one non urethane ball was tested, and it was a ball designed for durability and use at commercial driving ranges. I know that my golf spy believes that almost all golfers should use a urethane ball for the increase in green side spin. But many golfers already hit the ball high enough to stop the ball on iron shots and play courses with greens that are well watered. So now the urethane cover is only an advantage on a shot sided pitch shot for those golfers. So, if a ionomer or Surlyn covered ball reduced a little spin on the driver, allowing for a little more aerodynamic long shot with greater carry, reduced curvature due to reduced spin, and perhaps slightly longer run out of the ball, and those combined to be even just ten more yards, wouldn’t most golfers who hit the driver less than say 240 yards, who don’t routinely reach 500 yard par fives in two shots and would now be able to hit one less club into par fours and maybe even one less club into every green, benefit from hitting one less club and being a little more accurate with say their six iron as opposed to their five iron? On par fives, with two shots leading up to the third shot into the green, they may be hitting two less clubs into the green. Hey my golf spy, how about next time you bring in five or six of the best ionimer golf balls into the test so we can see how they compete on distance, even if they don’t compete as well on spin. Titleist Velocity, TaylorMade Distance, and a few others, please.

When you did your ball test last year, I immediately ordered 4 boxes of the prov1 left dash ball online.. They were on sale ( 4 for 3) and clearly they’re the correct ball for my 85 mph swing speed. Add in the fact the quality and durability is there as well. It’s a leap of faith to go from what I was using ( Bridgestone E6) to a premium golf ball. My back up ball is the prov1. My index is 8.5. Thanks my golf spy. You guys rock!

Never been fitted for a golf ball. But I used your recent golf ball testing to narrow down the choice of balls to hit based on my 110 mph driver speed. I used my Swing Caddy SC300i at home out doors. The device is fairly adequate for the test and the numbers were consistent. The Snell MTBX was the best fit for me and it still performs great on the course. Now that I own the Garmin R10 I’ll perform the test again and use balls from this video.
The Snell balls are extremely consistent and I never find myself questioning the carry distance. Great video!!

I don't want a "low spinning ball" if my swing speed is going to be incorrect for compression or # of pieces, but I also don't want to lose distance off the tee just to have a ball that works around the greens with short irons and wedges. I cannot be alone!

Was fortunate enough to get fit by a Titleist ball fitter at our Club earlier this spring. Informative and thorough process. Recommended the ProV1, which is the same ball our Club's PGA Professional, Chris Nelson, had previously recommended for me. Getting fit for clubs and balls eliminates many excuses. :)

I did a fitting with Bridgestone years ago. I have been playing the ProV1 because of MGS ball test showing it was the best all around ball and has the highest score in your ball lab test.

I haven't been fit. But interestingly I play the left dash and it seems extremely long. My swing speed is in the mid range. I purchased the Maxfli Tour X and have played it as well. It is a great value and I was very impressed with its performance. Now I have a decision to make. Great video - going to share with my golf buddies.

Never been fitted for golf ball. Just started using Srixon on my indoor setup. According to monitor, flying over 10 yards further with driver than random balls from my shag bag. Thanks for the info.

I would agree with this. Been Playing the Left Dash for the last Season. It’s longer off driver and Mid irons. Interestingly found a Chromesoft X playing yesterday and played it for a few holes. Certainly noticed the softer feel but was slightly shorter off the tee and spun allot.

I was very surprised to see the Bridgestone recommendations are at odds with how Bridgestone markets their balls. For instance, the Tour B RX is said for being swing speeds under 105 and the Tour Bx and Tour B XS are for over 105. Just the opposite of what your tests showed. I've been playing the Tour B RX for awhile (90 mph swing speed) and have had several personal best rounds.

I've been using the Pro V1X Left Dash for about a year now and I love its distance and low spin.

How is the spin around the green? Does it grab pretty good?

    • @michaeldejesus
      @michaeldejesus 2 года назад

@@joegarza1835 There is no doubt that Pro V1 and Pro V1x are better around the green, but I find spin adequate around the green. A bigger concern for a lot of people may be the putter feel. It's pretty firm. Some people may have a problem with that.

Great video report. I've never been tested for a golf ball - but it makes good sense. Also the idea of playing the same golf ball in a round = good thinking. I play what I feel I've been striking well and getting good distance - until I try something else.........

Slower swingers should be aware that while the Left Dash did finish first with driver at 85 mph, it came in almost dead last in iron distance at slow speed, narrowly beating out the range ball and the absurdly spinny Kirkland ball. The AVX, however, comes in 2nd in driver distance and 4th in iron distance. The Tour Response is top ten in driver and 3rd in iron distance. As they said in the test, for a lot of us, our best ball is often going to be somewhere in the middle of the pack, with a mix of speed, spin, compression, etc. that works best for the individual. For me it's Tour Response or Vice Pro Soft, although I am going to give the Maxfli a try, as well, especially considering how well it did in the quality tests.

I was fit for a ball using ballnamic. One of the top suggestions was Maxfli Tour X. I’ve been using that this year and I’ve been really happy with it so far.

Great video--central to this is knowing your swing speed ! Have not found on line ball fitting very helpful because it is not brand agnostic.
By knowing my swing speed (depending on the day, 85-95 mph on the cusp of low and mid), as well as on course trial and error, I have concluded for me at least, that the Titleist Tour Speed and the Maxfli Tour CG offer the longest distance, best feel and spin, and best VALUE !!!

I play the Callaway Chrome Soft X LS. Love how it performs tee to green and then excels on the green due to the triple track imo.
Heard plenty bout this left dash Pro V1 but haven't seen one. They are like hens teeth to find...especially here in Australia 😔

Same here dont know how it wasnt at least in the top 5 of high speed swings. Its a good 4-5 mph faster the ProV1s for me, plus a few hundred less spin off the tee.
