    I’d love to see you guys create a golf ball chart. Based on Ian’s fitting experience with different balls. Have some kind of chart that shows, these balls spin the most, these spin the less, these launch higher these are faster. And maybe split them up in a swing speed bracket.... I know asking a lot! But I think people could do a lot of troubleshooting of their own ball flights if they utilized information that you provide which is non biased compared to what every ball advert says that it’s the best, fastest most played, spins more goes further blah blah blah

      Look at the MyGolfSpy ball test and play with the widget at the bottom. You can select which balls to compare.
      I use Vice Pro, according to their testing the Vice Pro Plus' dispersion is significantly worse than, V Pro, ProV1, & ProV1x.

      @@henrylipscomb5660 Only thing there is that the MyGolfSpy test is based on the 2019 ball, both Vice and Titleist have new balls for 2020.

      @@kevinallibone9214 That's true, but I think it gives a reasonably good reference.
      Vice Pro seems to have improved ball speed slightly since then. So it's possible Pro Plus has improved dispersion since then, but for me if a robot has trouble hitting it consistently that's a big red flag for me. Hence, why I use Vice Pro, and I love them. On my second 5 dozen bulk buy.

      Not sure if you've seen it, but Today's Golfer did a robot test of 21 different balls, including the ones you mentioned. I won't link to it here, but you can search for it using that information. Pretty illuminating. Snell MTB Black is my gamer. I used the X last year, and tried the Red before that (which was unusable for me, as a high spin player). Big fan of both of Snell's current offerings.

    I found one of the Vice Pro Plus golf balls on my golf course and I was totally shocked at the distance, control, spin, and durability of the 2020 balls.
    Playing the ball for 4 rounds before I lost it in a water hazard, the ball was amazingly similar to the Titleist ProV1 X ball or the TaylorMade TP5-X, but for some reason I was hitting it a little farther and I scored some of the best rounds of the year with it. So I decided to purchase some and ordered the 5 Dozen Lime Green Vice Pro Plus golf balls, because the prize to buy 5 dozen dropped to $25 a dozen! I am simply amazed at how well they perform and in all categories, especially off the tee. Irons, hybrids, chipping & putting, is outstanding....just like the other top two golf balls, but for some reason it just has that bit more roll out or flight than the them with the driver. I am completely overwhelmed by these balls and could not recommend them more highly.
    BTW - I love the "Lime" green" balls, simply because they are much easier for me to pick up the flight and see the lines on the greens.

    Probably a good ball for players that like to Draw their Driver - some added spin to reduce the magnitude of the toe'y diving hookball

    • @kgeyedoc
      @kgeyedoc 4 года назад

      Spin helps with duck hooks? I always figured it was too much spin...

    • @wallstreetoneil
      @wallstreetoneil 4 года назад +2

      @@kgeyedoc the draw that becomes a diving hook is falling out of the air because it doesn't have enough backspin to hold the ball 'more' online and in the air. I'm not talking about a high in the air 50 yard overdraw that is because of poor face to path control and induced curvature. Modern drivers have all become lower spinning - trying to find that optimal & playable 2000-2300 rpm spin window - but 1700rpms is a cliff where if you have any spin axis tilt and don't have enough speed and angle of launch then draws have a way of diving hard and left (right-handers) - so using a ball with 300 more rpms of spin can literally save your drive - but you will give up a few yards of carry. All of the previous is why many of the tour guys live in the 2300-2500 spin window with their drivers - they have enough speed and launch and that little extra spin 'controls' the curvature at the expense of a few yards more carry - and mostly all of them have moved to hitting fades (which is basically a 1 word summary of all of the above)

    I played the Vice Pro for a couple of years (5 cap). It was a really good ball all round, as this video found, it was basically a Pro V1 but did feel it gave up a bit of distance off the tee. The reason I stopped playing it though was quality. Over the two seasons I played it I had two instances that led me to drop it. First, a newish ball formed a big crack around half the perimeter after 27 holes of normal play. Weird. No impacts with trees, cart paths etc. Then, months later on a brand new ball I noticed a finger nail-sized chunk of urethane had fallen off the ball when I approached the green. It was the first hole and I’d literally pegged up a brand new ball and hit a driver and a pitching wedge with it. Good ball, but I couldn’t trust it after that. I sent Vice photos of the second ball and they didn’t want to know either, so that was that for me.

The bottom line for me is neither of these balls has a negative impact on my ball-striking or scores. It comes down to saving money. I basically play the Vice Pro for everyday rounds and PRO-V1s for tournament and league play... I give the Psychological edge goes to Titleist or more honestly my name brand Vaness goes to Titleist but the pragmatic side goes to Vice!

    To help save on cost, I play the ProV1 practice (which tends to be a mix of V1 and V1X) and Taylormade now sells the TP5 Practice. $30 a dozen and my understanding is they only have cosmetic blemishes. I will also play Srixon Zstar XV when Srixon does the buy one get one free sale.

    Definitely do the Vice Pro Plus vs ProV1x. I use the Vice Pro Plus quite often.

    I can vouch for the durability of the Vice balls; I'm a relatively high handicapper, and managed to play one ball for 88 strokes last weekend. I put it back in the "use these balls for the bulk of a game again" part of my bag (as opposed to the "use these balls when you think you might lose one" part). Really good value for $30 a dozen (although I tend to use Kirklands more, just because I'm bad enough that losing balls gets expensive; the course I played last weekend didn't have a lot of water or impenetrable rough, so I "splurged.").

    Love the video guys, won a sleeve of the vice pro balls at a scramble a couple of weeks ago and have been very curious about them, this helped answer most of my questions.
    You guys should try out the Cut Grey golf balls. I got a dozen at Walmart for $20, and they're also a 3 piece golf ball with a urethane cover. I've played a couple rounds with them this year and they might be my favorite ball currently since I lose a good amount of balls when I golf. There aren't a lot of videos out about the cut greys, and I would love to see the numbers on a launch Monitor compared to these balls from this video!

    For sure please do Pro Plus. Would be good to see those numbers compared to Pro also and see if they fit the styles that Vice's ball recommender spits out.

    I have been playing the Vice Pro this season and so far a great all around golf ball for the price!

    Ian, just a thought about the Vice testing. Whilst it is great to see Matt pounding the ball out there, not many of us mere mortals have his swing speed. What would be good would be to see these tests done with Matt and someone with say a 100 mph swing speed, This would obviously have a big impact on spin rates. Then you could get a good comparison of which type of player they best suit.

    Please give the Pro Plus a test. Played the Vice Pro for a few years and switched to the Pro Plus this season. Both are great!

    Yes please test the plus version. I’m hoping that it good for me as a spinner if the ball. (But also prone to losing a few off the tee).

    All the ball tests are great. The wife and I play OnCore Elixr. My handicap is too high to constantly lose ProV

    Great info for sure. Let us not forget that is also important how well each does in the wind and when wet. My guess is that balls like Titleist, Taylormade, and Bridgestone would still be better in the wind :)... Keep up the great work.

    Would love to see also a review of the Vice Pro Soft. If possible in a direct comparison to the Taylormade Tour Response and Titleist Tour Speed as all of them are the entry level of urethane cover for moderate swing speed.

    Snell MTB is a great direct to consumer ball. Not a fan of the vice. Might be in my head but could not like it. Seemed less durable but that was a year or more now. Likely improvement by now.

    I’ve been playing vice lately, and my only gripe is that the paint holds grass stains and residue easily; even in dry conditions. If you play 2 holes, it looks like you’ve played 2 rounds with it. It’s durable, but i catch myself having to clean it off a lot.

    You guys should check out the Snell balls out next. Both the MTB-X and MTB Black. They are my go to balls and love them. Also being desigend by Dean Snell should be interesting to see how they perform in your testing. Great content as always!
