Do Expensive Golf Balls Make You Play Better?

- Today we are putting the Vice Pro Plus to the test and seeing how well it performs on Trackman against what is arguably the most popular ball played on the PGA Tour. We ran Wedge, 7-Iron, and Driver Spin test comparisons along with durability between these two brands and the results are shocking! So the question remains… are you paying too much for Golf Balls? Thanks for tuning and enjoy!

+1 Handicap here, played Vice for years now, both casually & in competition. As a young guy who plays a lot the bang for your buck is absolutely unmatched
I have been playing vice pro plus for about two years now, and I have been using the same 6 balls from my very first batch in my practice bay and they have held up incredibly well considering I take about 500 swings a week, and most of which are with 7-iron and below. There wasn’t one time on the course where I wished I used a Pro v1X or a left dash.
Ya’ll fibbin. I play left dash. You really don’t miss anything when playing the VP+?
@@yeaimfishing9583 I miss shots, but I don't miss ProV prices lol. Not even a little.
@@michaelallen2501 if we’re pinching pennies in literally every aspect of the game then I understand the draw to a ball that may perform pretty well for the price but when we pay anywhere from $25-$100 for 18 holes yet opt for a ball that’s $2 less per ball at most (not saying there isn’t value there) then it doesn’t make a ton of sense to me. Keep in mind that for me personally I don’t usually lose a ball during a round. It happens, yes, but maybe once every 2-3 rounds. That difference in ball cost isn’t enough for me. I’ll pay for the maximum performance.
@@yeaimfishing9583 but they perform the same. At least Pro V1x vs Vice Pro +. From every single review I've ever watched or read, they are every bit as good or better than the Titleist and Taylormade options. There's zero benefit to buying them by comparison. Can't say anything about the left dash, nobody has tested them directly against a Vice product.
PREACH!! Love the Vice stuff, especially because they have so many custom options to keep the game fun (like the Shade balls, which look so darn pretty and play just as well). Great to save the money, because they perform just as well! So cool to see a really really good golfer using these too, hopefully they become a little more common and lose the stigma every non-Titleist ball seems to have
I'm an 18 handicap been playing the Vice Pro Plus for 2 years love it. Glad to see Micah give it a try
Can't wait to see you entered and updating on your next tour event. And thanks for making these videos enjoyable, Bradley! MVP.
I've played Vice and Encore for years. Love them both.
Ya I’ve been playing vice for the past 2 years, love them
I don't know if it's just placebo but I really do think Micah is coming into his own since focusing on solo content. Love seeing the progression of this man ❤️
he's upped the production values - he had too though. Going solo he has more time to focus on it and all the other guys in GG have lacking production values aside from GM. Gm is top tier stuff with Ryder. Luke's channel is getting really good too.
Great video and I love seeing the data. I tried the Vice Pro Plus 6 months ago and that's all I play now. When comparing them to the other premium balls I cannot tell the difference in feel but seem to hit longer drives. The price point makes them impossible to pass up. I even rock a Vice hat most days on the course. Great product. Thanks for the great content.
Content, editing, and the vibes overall have been absolutely stellar lately. Keep crushing it Micah!
Wondering if Bradley does micahs editing. He's a great editor
@@Sagnasty17 whoever it is, they're straight up killing it. The swings on beat with the music was such a chefs kiss.
I use VICE PRO PLUS. Great balls of fire!!
The new pro v 1 x is actually more spinny than the ProV. only reason I know that is from Titleist University. The AVX is the lowest spin out of the pro line. The vice pro + I would say from use is very close to last years model of the TP5x, not too firm but does the job so so well for the price. You should give the ProV1X left dash a go. Awesome video hope that vice keeps you low out there! I will be playing the left dash and or vice pro plus this spring.
The left dash is a cheat code for me
The Vice Pro + is all I play. Have been playing it for the last 3 years and went from an 8 handicap to a 5. I love the ball and will never play anything else, especially for the price.
I’ve played the Vice Pro Plus for a couple of years now. Still play the Pro V1 from time to time too. They are virtually the same ball in my experience. The Vice might spin just a tiny bit less around the green, & is a tiny bit less durable. But it’s essentially identical. Great ball.
Way to nail your solo mojo Bro! I've been waiting for a review of this ball for a while. Pro, Pro+ and Pro Soft are all fine balls.
I love Vice! I played a lot of the Pro Drips this year.
I started hitting the vice Pro+ about 2 months ago and love it. Was playing Callaway Chrome Soft before and I like the feel of the Vice better
I've been playing the Vice Pro and Pro Plus for about 2 years now. Love them!! The Plus spins a lot around the green and shocked me. Can't go wrong with these balls.
I believe it. Switched to pro plus last year from TP5x, and I can't believe how close they are. I'm about a 6 HCP, so certainly no pro, but also can certainly feel differences when they exist and I honestly can't find a reason to go back to paying more than double
I would love to see you do these same test with an OnCore ball
Yea, I play the Wilson Triad, very impressive ball. I play other balls to test against Wilson and I always go back to it! Thanks again
Been playing the Pro & Pro Plus for the past few years. Love this ball! Very hot off the face, soft on the greens, and cheaper than the other premium balls. Additionally, it comes in some cool colors (I dig the Shade).
I'm a big fan of the OnCore Vero1... very similar to Pro-V1 as a lower price.
Love it Micah!!! Been playing the Vice Pro Plus for about 3.5 years now. Started out as a bet from a friend of mine telling me I was wasting my money on TP5x and Pro V1x and haven’t looked back!!! Welcome to team Vice!
I’ve been playing bass pro plus for two years. Great off the tea great around the greens. I love this ball. My wife ordered me five dozen of the face pro plus shade for Christmas 😎😎😎😎
Great content again Micah. The production work really shines.
I've been using the regular pro and like them a lot. I will also add that I used 6 of them all summer in my backyard chipping/pitching range and the they held up to the abuse great.
I like the Vice Pro a lot too. Definitely one of the best feeling balls out there.
I go smallmouth fishing by my local country club and have filled backpacks full of river balls. Love finding the Vices! Sweet colors and perform great!
I switched to Vice Pro early this summer. Love the distance, control and feel. Oh yeah and the price.
Before I got hurt last year I had whittled my handicap down to a 6. I was playing the Vice Pro and it performed as good or better than other premium balls I played.
Post injury I haven’t played much and it definitely shows. I turn 51 tomorrow and recovering from this injury my swing speed has dropped from 104-106 to the high 90’s. Still trying to figure out the distances on my irons with the lower swing speeds.
Been using Vice a lot lately found a few reuse boxes at Walmart for $12 yet the balls were brand new! It came with Pro, Pro Plus, Pro Tour and Pro soft! Vice definitely has quality with a cheaper price point! I even use their glove and I love it!
I've been playing the prosoft for years now. It's a great golf ball. Since it's soft and more like a chromesoft it has less spin in general but a bit more distance. I just learned that soft ball = less spin, I just like the feel around the green. I like the Vice balls and might change next year to the pro and see how they play for me.
I play the ProV1X at the moment and it was a great comparison between the two balls! I might need to take some Vice Pro + and do my own test along with the LAGolf ball.
I've been playing the Vice Pro Plus for a few years now and love it! I also play for TM TP5x and find them to be very similar. But Vice is my go-to, especially for the price.
I have been playing the Vice for years and love everything about it. Both my kids also play the vice balls in their tournaments and will also pick the vice over the Titleist.
Vice pro + is a fantastic ball and deal. My gamer for tournaments is the Callaway chrome soft x LS but my practice ball is the vice ball.
Had my first hole in 1 with a vice and I’ve played them since I love them
I'm a walking billboard for Vice.....they really should be paying me to use their balls! I play the Vice Pro Plus in lime green, and I wear Vice hats, use Vice tees, Vice towel, Vice umbrella, Vice Gloves and I just got my new Vice Bag! I just love the value of their equipment!
Been using the Vice Pro Plus for months, absolutely love it.
I am just a social golfer with an ageing slower swing speed & have found the Vice Pro soft neon. I love the brightness of the ball & my ageing eyes can now mostly see the ball in flight & it is easy to see on the fairway from distance. After playing with it through cold weather I found playing on a warm day I was getting an extra 25 metres distance from it on most clubs which is further than other balls I have played in similar conditions. It is a winner for me due the cost vs Pro V1 & it's performance. The Pro soft was the suggested ball for my game on the Vice website which has a in-depth look at what ball is best for you.
Hey Tig,
I've been playing the Vice brand for a few years now and absolutely love the balls but more importantly I love the brand. The customer service and customization is top notch and they really appeal to a huge variety of golfers. Thanks for doing this video, it's amazing to see more and more people embracing Vice Golf.
Keep it up bud!
I've played the Vice Pro + in lime green for a couple years. Love the way they play and even more the price. I do have to say with a 54 or 58 deg wedge I rip the color off the ball pretty bad. But for the price it doesn't bother me.
I love the Vice Pro. Been playing them for a couple years now.
This is what modern golf is about. No other sport allows athletes to show and publish their improvement or practice like golf due to scouting purposes. Producing quality content on your rise and one day entrance on the tour does nothing, but good for the sport. I love the quality of your videos man.
I just started playing the Cut Grey golf ball recently and I’m really impressed. 20 bucks a dozen from their store on Amazon. They also have a Cut Blue and Cut DC. I’d really like to see you do the same testing on those balls vs Pro V1 and V1x. Or the Vice Pro and Pro+.
I played Cut but switched to Vice for better distance and durability. Luv Vice Pro and Pro Plus
I’m about scratch, and I’ve played Titleist Pro V1X, essentially since it came out, but I’ll be trying the Vise now. Wow!!! Crazy close numbers, and for $20 less a dozen
I play the vice pro plus drips and I love them been playing them for about a year and a half and the touch they have around the green and off the club face is so nice
I love the Vice Balls and its good to know they are on the level . Also I love the Primo golf pants as well !
I’m glad you like the vice. I play them whenever I can find them in the store. I remember commenting on the vice when you tried the Kirkland. And congratulations on your new golf ventures.
Best deal is to order off website. If u can order at least 5 dozen u save like $7/dozen on pro and pro plus. Downside if ur in U.S. is they ship from Germany and can take some time clearing customs. Just have to make sure u leave enough time when it's time to reorder.
I play with many found balls (because I play alot at the course where I am a member) and the most found balls for me are Titleist. So I play those the most, however, I find a few Vice Pro's & Pro Plus's and they do have a similar feel and flight. But all in all, the Titleist seem to hold up a bit better over the long haul.
I’m a day late but SHOUTOUT to the editing for matching up your swings with the beat in the song. It makes my semi-ocd brain very happy!
Hey! I'd be super curious to see you to do a test of the best competitive budget balls, that being the Vice Pro + and the Snell MTB-X.
I used to play Snell and really liked them, but then their shipping rates went up and 2 dozen max purchase. So a dozen cost me about $42. I switched back to my Bridgestone BX for $6 more due to this.
I played Snell all this season. Had a couple rounds in the 60’s and my first ACE. Oddly, Something about the dimple pattern bugs me though.
Yeah I’ve been playing them for a while now and like them a lot
The Vice Pro Plus is all I play anymore. I converted from the TP5 and have seen very similar performance with much better durability. Love the Vice brand and all they have to offer.
Lovin' the TPC Deere Run hat! Great course local to me.
i played 6.5 rounds with pro drip lime recently that i actually had found. shot rounds all in the range of 78-83. the ball was in the sand, hit the path. smacked off trees and was played in wet soggy weather. it is literally the most durable ball i have ever seen. i was still playing it and unfortunately hit a drive that hit a cart path splitting the fairway and it bounded into the water.
i know that the paint job kinda hides some of the marks, but im not joking when i say that a lot of other balls i would have to retire after 1 or 2 rounds and this lasted 6.5 rounds, i was shocked.
That was the best “please subscribe” speech ever. Klicked the thing 👌
Also the numbers on the Vice sold me on it. Considering the price difference especially.
Funny thing, got a shipment of Vice balls today. Not the Pro+
Got the Tour, since I’m a beginner golf.
love my vice pro plus balls, been playing them for 4 years now
His swing is looking so good since he’s been working with Mike
Newish to the sport, only carry my driver about 230, I found a lost vice ball on the course the other day and played with it the entire round. The next day I went out ang bought a whole pack. I used to play the Callaway Warbird or three stripe and i just feel so much more consistent with the vice pro. At my ball price range I dont notice the cost difference much because I dont buy balls in 5+ packs from their site.
did not expect that outcome , but I may be converted at this point. Nicely done Micah, and many blessing on your journey to playing on tour.
I’ve played Pro V1x for years. I love color options. Might have to try the Vice!
Awesome video. So well done. It'd been super cool to see you hit something like a Top Flight after. I am playing the Pro Plus now. Loving them!
I tried them for the first time this year and was really liking them without knowing how they stacked up against the Titleist. Thanks Micah!
Few weeks ago, i do my own ball fitting on a trackman. My gamer was a pro v1x. Against Tour bx, srixon xv, snell mtbx, tp5x, prov 1, left dash… on trackman the winner is: proplus. More impressiv was in the short game Outside. This Ball is really amazing. Spins more in the short game, softer feel. And longer with the big stick…. I would pay the same for it… proplus in, v1x out!
Just switched from Bridgestone tour B xs to vice. Love the way they feel and play for almost half the price
Been playing vice for 2 years. They’re fantastic. When you order 5 dozen they’re even cheaper.
Yup, I have a uneekor eye xo. Got the same results. If you think a prov1 is better than a vice youre in your own head. However, I will say the TP5 does edge out the provs and vices.
I play vice pro plus. Got my annual 15 boxes on cyber Monday. Set for the next season and more.
TPC Deere Run hat is on point. I live about 10 miles from that course and play it often.
Used Vice and ProV’s all year and very impressed by the vice pro-plus
Micah we all love your content. Please don't resort to clickbait titles every video. Keep up the great work brother. I'm sure we will see you hoisting a trophy before long.
@Michael H You are absolutely right. It's just one of my pet peeves. Doesn't matter to me what the title is, I'm here for the content.
Vice Pro Plus is by far one of my favorite balls, it replaced my TP5X that I was using for about 3 years and the price is perfection!
TP5x is my fav premium ball. I switched to Snell mtbx but the ball looks so cheap at address. Something about the dimple pattern and finish reminded me of those old gag-exploding balls you’d give to your buddy. You had good results from VPP?
Been playing pro plus for years. Can't go wrong with them!
When you tested Kirkland's I switched to them. Vice's aren't much less than prov1 honestly, but those Kirkland's saved me some money for sure.
The savings comes from buying in bulk, the only annoying part is buying 5 boxes without knowing if you really like them.. their sampler pack doesn’t even have the newest models so that’s not even a perfect comparison.
But if you’re someone who likes premium guys, for $28 a box (at 5 boxes) vs $45-$55 for the others is a really good deal.
@@PMTCards been looking at Bridgestone and wanna check out their sampler pack
@@ironmarkgolf Bridgestone makes a good ball, I played them before switching to Vice.
@@virtue946 I've played vice before, pretty much played them all. However given that I'll be entertaining on RUclips after the winter I think I'm just going to see which ball is best for me overall from golftec the next time I go. Want my content to be the best it can be.
Great video man! Maybe if you would add tags to trackman (ball name) it would be really easy to see the averages and the dispersion! If you do a tag then it will show all the shots with the tag and give you the average on every number. Also tm has the dispersion chart. That would have been interesting to see!
I love the vice balls i won 2 tournaments and 1 scramble tournaments for school and i fell in love
Well done, always love finding a Vice when I'm out playing!
Bradley you're killing it. I've been using the Kirkland be thinking of the vice pro. I know finch has been using it up until recently
Playing vice pro soft for a long time. Loving them
This video is friggin awesome!!!! Congrats to you and the editors.
Recently just made the switch to Vice Pro Plus from Tp5x. I’ve been trying to tell people how good they are!!
I have plays A LOT of these vice balls. If I had to go down from something like a prov or tp5 I’d go with them. The one thing you have to be careful of is the cover. It tears up a lot quicker than a prov or tp5. I think that’s where the cost difference is, if vice used the same layer as a prov they’d probably be pretty close in price. So just keep that in mind.
I’ve been using the Vice Pro Plus for about a year. It’s a great ball and when Vice has their promos you can get them for $25 a box. Love the Lime in the fall.
Micah love this content. Already planning to stay in your Airbnb next year for a golf trip!
That swing. Thanks the comparison - will definitely check them out! Have seen Vice balls forever but haven't played them (other than a few found balls!)
I played TP5 for a couple years and this year I switched to the Vice pro and I think it performs better than the TM and they are way cheaper as well and they feel great too
Can you do a video playing a 1990's ball compared to Pro V1 with latest driver and 1990's driver...
Loving all your content.
Your swing is looking really solid...and your putting stroke is silky smooth...
You have alot of support (deserved) and you will succeed...
I play whatever I find, lol, usually Callaway or prov1..,vice is looking very solid..great video tig..
I’d love to see you test the Spalding SD Tour X.
Three piece urethane with 95 compression.
I personally love the way they play. Great distance, excellent stopping and I love the greenside control.
$20 a box.
Micah Shiels out here. Love this type of content
I’ve been playing the vice drives and like them a lot
I'm a huge numbers and stats guy. Picked out the Vice years ago against ProV1 and Chrome Soft. Not sure I'll ever go back to the Titleist/Callaway price.
Good stuff. Hope to see you and Grant play some matches soon
Bruh how tf would that make sense, y’all just trying to hate on gg at this point. Micah did his cousin Garrett so wrong
@@tikiprod11 ?? PRECISELY explain how Micah going out and chasing his own dream “doing his cousin wrong” ?? Some of y’all suckling the GG teet for far too long.

@@tikiprod11 GG has the focus on entertainment. Micah has the focus on Golf and I would say the same for Grant, in that respect it makes perfect sense.

Love Vice products. Great video and solid quality. Like the music add. Well done Tig!
