    Thanks so much for including my vid, i knew i didn't have the best form that day but honestly I would never have guessed that carrying my little ones on my hip would have made a difference to it! Wow! Mind blown! Thanks so much for your feedback, I'll incorporate it and if you like i can send you a vid to see if i got it right. That's the downside of VR, no one to tell you hey get your butt down or change your pose a bit. Thanks so much Tine!!! Xoxo

    Very nice analysis. And congrats to those who sent in their videos! (which I was too shy to do).
    Something that can be a challenge is when good form doesn't align with the gaming. E.g., I know I am using my shoulders too much for punching and sometimes standing on one limb reaching out and not maintaining good stability. However, always punching with good form won't let me get those high scores with no missed targets and a 50% speedup for a song. On the other hand, I'm getting my heart rate up into a good zone and getting a good cardio workout. Of course I want to make sure I'm not doing something actually wrong (e.g., a bad posture that puts me at risk for injury) but otherwise, as you've mentioned in past videos, workouts are a means to a goal and I'm happy with improving cardio health even if I'm not getting much improvement for my core and legs. And getting those high scores is great for motivation!

    Regarding the first guy that's punching: It's been decades since I have been in the ring but unless things have changed a good punching (save for quick jabs) form involves using the entire body to punch in an effort to increase the energy delivered. I believe he should be using his core to generate rotation.
    But, hey, again, decades out of practice.
    But later you seem to be approving when the others who are getting in good torso rotation to drive the punches and (correctly) calling out when punches only engage the shoulder and arm joints.
    Anyhow, nice video otherwise
    Edit: Ok, lots of people punching. Comment edited after seeing more peeps punching.
    Edit again: Did anyone else notice the cute confetti when leaving a thumbs up? That's so cute.

      LOL - you are correct. This was a difficult video to do, and I ended up cutting it down from over 40 min of feedback to under 10 - to make it more watchable. I am sending more detailed feedback via email to each person that submitted their tapes - so that there is no confusion. But yes, Movement from torso is great, as long as the core is engaged. In the first part of Nyanmaru's video, he did not have an engaged core, which you can see based on the hip movements, weight shifting, etc. But he has done a great job changing that, as can be seen in the last video :)
      ps., YAY CONFETTI! 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉

    Trust me you are never wasting your time. The body needs to move so just keep moving. Perfection is not required. Balls to the wall is also not required. As someone who was once recovering from being physically compromised and could barely walk. Any movement that is not causing or leading to pain is good. I debunked so many fitness myths through my own fist hand experience. Just move regularly. Use it or loose it as they say.

    • @VikingPrincessVR
      @VikingPrincessVR  2 года назад

      Ah! That makes sense too! Adding weighted gloves is great to help increase speed, but the weight should not decrease your performance by more than 10% - if it does, it's too heavy and counterproductive. So if your power score is on average around 5.6 when using the gloves, and if it goes over 6.1 when you are not wearing gloves, then they may be a little too heavy for this workout :)

    My problem is I have arthritis in my knees, and it is very hard for me to do squats. I am quite overweight but losing. I have lost 40 pounds, so I am able to walk better. I have been riding my stand-alone recumbent bike with my friend from Missouri (we ride for a half an hour). Sometimes I ride for a half hour with her and a half hour by myself. I also have been utilizing my treadmill (I started out 10 minutes and thought I was going to die). I am up to half an hour at least 3 times a week. When I sit for too long it is hard for me to get up (my knees again). It's getting better but not fast enough. I used to be very active. My sedentary job makes it very difficult to move when I know I should. I like watching your videos because your stances in them are what I would like to emulate. And to answer a question you posed to me a while ago I do like Cybrix. It's like I am a human Ping Pong table. I can't yet squat as low as I would like, but I'm pretty sure I will get there.

      Thrill of the fight is the answer. Watch some boxing tutorials first. Rehearse the punches before you actually go and injure yourself playing the game, which is very intense. You might also want to look over breathing like a boxer for the core tightness and endurance.
      BTW, Thrill of the fight will make those vr fit games look like child's play. It is fun, but don't start with 30 min or an hour. Believe me, your shoulders will be sore for a while. However, after some time playing it daily, I can do 1 hour now and barely feel it on my shoulders after I cool down.

      @VikingPrincessVR  Год назад +2

      @@vrfitter Sitting is so bad, and the effects definitely sneak up on you! Bodycombat, FitXR, and AudioTRip Cardio mode are my favourite leg workouts. Just keep your chest lifted and choose a slower mode rather than a fast one. It's easy to lean forward in the squats - which take the work out of the quads, and if you've been sitting a lot, it's easy for your hamstrings and hip flexors to take over. So be cognizant of the muscles you are using - keeping the core engaged!

      There are different ways to do punches, based on the goal of the punch. As I clearly describe in the video, my corrections are based on a fitness goal, not a combat/real boxing ring fight.

    • @pedromiguel1228
      @pedromiguel1228 Год назад +1

      I agree with you on that one. Also, that fitness punches vs real combat punches is just a weak excuse. Real combat punches are the only way to use them. If you train a broken form, you will only enforce bad habits which might cause more harm than good in the long run. Saying that just discredits you as a trainer.
      It might be best to delete this video. Do some research on boxing punching form and come back with solid knowledge.

    I have one piece of advice, learn how to actually box and then do this. I remember seeing cardio kickboxing classes at golds gym. It’s somewhat hilarious. Yes it’s a work out but the technique is god-awful and if you do use proper technique, it will be harder.

    • @VikingPrincessVR
      @VikingPrincessVR  Год назад +1

      I agree that better technique makes the workout harder/more effective. But remember that we don't start there - people have to learn. So give them space to practice, get stronger and more confident, and improve. VR is an excellent tool for that, and if that's what motivates someone to start moving - then that's what matters. Not everyone has access to a gym or even feels comfortable going there. Any movement is better than no movement, and perfection is not a requirement for achieving health benefits and having a good time.

    • @andrewstutz4240
      @andrewstutz4240 Год назад +1

      @@VikingPrincessVR I don’t give people a break on this because they end up building bad technique which can become a habit. It’s like swinging your arms when you do curls you get in the habit of half-assing.

    • @VikingPrincessVR
      @VikingPrincessVR  Год назад +1

      @@andrewstutz4240 Learning and half-assing aren't the same thing. You still have to give people space to learn. Another thing to consider is the goal. Is it to be a boxing champion or to get off the couch?
      One of the toughest lessons I had to learn in my many years teaching group fitness was to let go of perfection. I expect that from my personal training clients, but they are at a different part of their fitness journey, with a different commitment levels, and looking for different things. If you expect perfection at every step, then you are scaring people away from starting and likely also from moving at all.
      It is wonderful that you set higher standards for yourself, but we also have to respect that other people come from a different journey, and what might seem like "half-ass" to one person, might be the result of a long, difficult battle for another.

    • @andrewstutz4240
      @andrewstutz4240 Год назад

      @@VikingPrincessVR we will agree to disagree, I trained people in Muay Thai, tae kwon do and Jiu Jitsu for years I would have 5 year olds doing push ups for repeated improper technique. I don’t consider it a favor letting people keep a lower standard. I am sure in a health club it’s a different story because they just need to sell to enough people and the effort part is just a bonus.
