Today, let's dive into the infamous drama of Rainfurrest 2015. With unruly attendees showcasing some truly inappropriate behavior, irresponsible organizers who put attendance numbers above guest safety, and one truly fed-up hotel, Rainfurrest was a ridiculous spectacle that would go down in internet history as one of the most disastrous conventions ever,

“Yes, a lone gunman pulled the trigger, but the board of executive staff sold them five years’ worth of bullets” Such a raw line and it’s about a furry convention lmao
right
Brig I need to I use that line now
saving for english class

It sounds so epic
I find stories about cons and festivals that go off the rails fascinating, I don't know why exactly. It's like they're tiny temporary societies and when they go wrong you get a miniature apocalypse.
dashcon is my favourite terrible con
Honestly this is way fandoms fascinate me as well. Some fandoms really do feel like Lord of the Flies at some points (vld survivor here lol) but what fascinates me most is how there is often not much of a leader. Sure if it’s a fandom for a media there’s the creators of it, but they clearly aren’t respected enough by fans since their word is hardly ever gospel (which to be fair, that much isn’t a problem, nothing wrong with headcannons and fanfiction) and the sheer amount of death threats they get. I supposed their are also respected members of a community such as well known fan artists or youtubers but not everyone in the fandom knows them. There’s no “government” or structure to fandoms so they are this anarchist free-for-all
I should clarify I’m not saying fandoms SHOULD have a leader, this is simply an observation I made
That's actually a perfect way of describing it. It's also worth acknowledging the positive outcomes that can occur. It allows people to experiment with different social paradigms from the ones that are so entrenched in modern Western culture.

I'm a hotel manager, we look out for our fellow hotels in the area.
When we experience a criminal or extremely unpleasant individual, we will contact other hotels and share their names, so it doesn't surprise me in the slightest that every hotel rejected this side-show, I know I would.
It reminds me of what the Internet Historian said in regard to this: "Big hotel chains *talk."*
I once went to a furry rave party and when I walked around with my furhead one I felt a tap on my shoulder, I looked back and saw the mouth of a gun, than I heard the trigger.
I informed the management and left, when I came home my mailbox had like... 20 massages that all were the same: 'Don't be overdramatic, everybody knew it was a fake gun.'
1. no body told me.
2. this happen a week after the shooting in Belgum.
3. She never excused herself.
That sounds awful holy crap. I’m glad you’re okay
i hope your okay, nobody should ever do that to anyone without permission as a joke first
The fact they sent like 20 messages says a lot about the fact they knew it wasn't ok
wtf, and then harassed you after? What a scary person :(
"It wasn't a real gun" doesn't fly as an excuse for armed robbery for a good reason. It honestly doesn't make a difference if the gun is real or not, the threat is the same. The fear you experienced in that moment is the same. You have to ask what the joke is when you point a fake gun at someone and pull the trigger, because the only answer to that question is that the "joke" is that they are scared for their lives for a split second.

Adam/YourMovieSucks (who's an open furry) had some insight--he said RainFurrest was either created by, or at least became the only remaining option for, furries who were banned from other conventions... most likely for the behavior documented above lol
Yeaaaaaah, the whole way the con staff/heads approached things, as well as the abundance of sh1t behavior, really support that idea. Would not be surprised if many of them were at minimum those "Furries other furries don't like" types who got salty and made a new con w/friends, hookers and blackjack.

@@bakaichigo Oh, absolutely. I can't speak for rainfurrest specifically, but a number of cons that don't ban certain problem characters (coughcough nazifurs, most notably) don't ban them specifically because some on the board are buddies with those problem people or because the problem characters are some of the donors for the cons. Most fur cons are actually good about banning known problem causers, but some just... really are not.
I hadn't heard of Rainfurrest before this video. Now all I can think is "If Rainfurrest and Dashcon had a horrendous lovechild, it'd be FreeFurAll."
As soon as I heard it was held in Seatac (living around that area lmao) I immediately winced as I knew it would be BAD
Something about this reminds me of New Zealand's more standard convention, Armageddon. I went to the Auckland one *once*. It was fine, barring one incident that made me turn my back on it forever. Namely a professional seamstress in the costume contest mocking me, a 15 y'o who sewed most of her own costume by hand.
Thankfully the contest now has divisions for professional vs amateurs, but I can never forget that this 20's woman looked at a child and laughed at their love of cosplay.
That's horrible! I'm so sorry that happened to you, for an adult she acted pretty childish and gatekeep-y towards you. I hope you're still cosplaying/ sewing? I also went to Armageddon, in 2014 I think. It's the only convention I've been to before or since, though I'd like to go to another one day.
@@sabiyadusk7357 I don't have as much time for it with work, but I absolutely still do. I've been Raven multiple times, The Tick (with accompanying Arthur), Axel (KH2), Alphonse (FMA), Ash Ketchum, Mother Sarah from same, Mablerose from The Courageous princess... to name a few XD
The tick was intense sewing work. I did the muscle padding by making two of the costume suit and sewing the muscle padding between them. It worked really well :3
This year for wellington I'm going as the king of Rohan, my mother made the armour for her own project and I'm going to show it off
It was absolutely a gatekeepery thing. I have made sure that any cosplayers I see I encourage. I also run a standing repair service at cons (free of charge, costumes go BONK) so I often get to go "Oh I love this, tell me more about it!" while I put something back together, with no shame for it coming apart because any true cosplayer has been there.

I went to aucks armageddon for years and the judges they usually had for the cosplay competition always, always came across as gatekeepy and elitist af. The winners were almost always professionals from ozzie. I remember them turning down this little boy dressed as master chief because "he had outside help". Like no shit, but shouldn't you be supportive of parents helping their kid do something most parents would ridicule them for?
They also never allowed fursuiters at all even if they were a character from a show like a pokemon or something. Monster cosplayers were hardly ever showcased.

Hello! Furry here! I have a short story that describes how much we DETEST this convention. Once I was sitting in a busy room at a furcon (Furlandia 2018) and I noticed a box fan in the center had some writing on it. I realized this fan HAD BEEN SALVAGED FROM RAINFURREST since it said “property of rainfurrest staff” or something like that on it. So I say “uh… Hey guys, this fan is from Rainfurrest.” The whole room went silent for about a second, then EVERYONE erupted into NOOOOOOOOs and OH MY GODs and DONT MENTION THATs. It’s so bad I sent an entire room of about 30 people into complete agony and chaos.
Oh man I would’ve thrown it away just in case it still smelled of shit.

This is the best way to look at it. Most regular furries or regular people in other fandoms look at it this way too.
There's just some people who think they can get away with anything and everything with no consequence. Ans then when people get on their case they try to deflect and call it drama or something of that ilk. Crazy stuff

Agreed. I'm not a furry and I've never even met or seen a furry, but for so long I hated them solely because of other people's opinions. The truth is, they're just normal people who like to have fun and express themselves. A lot of furries are even really good at craftsmanship because of the complexity of fursuits! I think it's beautiful that so many people could come together and appreciate just having fun. It's unfair that mascots are seen as normal and for some reason furries are treated like a crime. That's the sort of sh1t that gets done to you when you not only fvck up, but fvck up consistently and so badly that it inconveniences the entirety of the group you've collaborated with. It could easily have been a salty Furry, but I doubt that. Based on what I'm seeing, the Hilton would have 100% been most likely. Also "We don't want to make clear rules, we'd rather play it by ear in private" sounds a hell of a lot like "we know or are people who engage or that kind of behavior and would rather bully any victims into silence than discourage it".
If people are just socially awkward, inept, or ignorant of what is and isn't appropriate it would be a hell of a lot better to have it spelled out than have them guess what "be nice" means...
As someone who is socially awkward. There's no way in hell that those people were socially awkward. Sociopathic yes, but not awkward. My kind would at least have the self-awareness to understand that they are going to attract unwanted attention. . . Right?

great analysis! the furry fandom is an interesting mix of outsiders. the subculture provides an accepting social network for folks who have been unjustly marginalized due to their sexual preferences/gender identities/neurodivergencies, yet this "open door" policy also attracts another category of people who wanna poop themselves in public and leave the soiled diaper on a stranger's car. seems to be an ongoing tension within the community.
Man..communities like that are a wildcard
I'm just a occasional cosplayer who through that and some people who are somewhere in between being a furry and being a normy and yeah furries can be the sweetest people ever but some are just flat out insane and not in the good way.
I've met some I would actually consider dangerous in some way and honestly unless one of these friends who is somewhere in between is with me I tend to stay a bit away from furries. Very welcoming bunch but lots of people I would prefer to stay away from too which is kind of sad.
At least from my experience, there's been more being done in the fandom lately to be open and welcoming, but have cons and online furry spaces be a safe place for folks. Like, I've seen a more concerted effort to push out, e.g., Nazis (like, literal people-whose-fursonas-who-wear-red-armbands-and-are-named-"Foxler" kind of Nazis), MAPs, abusers, and zoophiles/zoosadists from the fandom.
@@NoirTheSable I remember the Confederate flag fursuit that was just a wolf with the flag all over him I remember that blowing up and laughing at the audacity of the mf thinking nothing would happen
right. on. the. fucking. nose. the core issue is that the fandom is likely THE most open and welcoming fandom in the world (a stance that was fought for YEARS ago) but that kind of openness is a double-edged sword because if you say that EVERYONE is welcome, then that also includes the freaks and degenerates that will no nothing but ruin the furry image (and, you know...crimes). it's TOO welcoming and the fact that the fandom was partly based on sex/other adult things really doesn't help matters.
I feel so sorry for the workers it must have been so embarrassing and awful to pick all that up
At the time rainfurrest tanked, I was working a hilton property down in Portland Oregon (The next nearest major city to the Seattle metro area) There wasn't any need for someone outside of the hospitality industry to start talking; there is a very active back-channel of managers that talks about these big recurring events, and the discussion of rainfurrest on that back-channel was damning enough.

Wait until you hear about the monthly house parties in the Seattle area and the problems that the furry fandom had there from 2006-2015.
I can also tell you ghosting the con (getting in without officially paying for a badge) was common, including people who were banned from multiple other cons. As a person who cut all ties locally with furries in the area, I can tell you that drugs and alcohol were a HUGE issue, as was problems with minors getting into parties and uh.... sexual stuff happening.
After I had constantly warned people about their behavior, I walked away from them all.
The party hard subculture of the locals was probably why this became such a big deal.
One incident that made me want nothing to do with them was the fact that during one party, one individual decided in his drunken state that he would follow my friend around and whisper slurs into his ear the entire time. When I confronted him, the people organizing the meet essentially ignored any wrong doing on his part, and later went behind my back to claim we were the ones starting drama, not the drunk person. He would later get into actual fist fights with people, and they would, instead of banning him from future events, banned the people he fought with.
Several of the people involved were also involved with RF and staff were consistantly ignoring real problems locally because "drama bad herf durrr". They were always the type that claimed "You're starting drama" if you called out bad behavior and because of their complete ignorance, it ended up costing them. It's still so prevalent that when a new furry convention finally was allowed in the state, many labeled it as "Disney-con" or "Kiddie-con" because they are, by contract, not allowed anything NSFW in con spaces and are VERY strict about the rules.
thank you for this video! as a furry who grew up in the seattle area, i remember when rainfurrest shut down and became anthro northwest, but never knew the exact details. it really is a fucking shame that abhorrent freaks exist in every fandom and they felt like doing whatever they wanted when the rest of us just want to have a good time and respect the convention host and staff

Re: the bitter ex-staff member sending all the emails to the Washington hotels, I wonder if people in the hotel community were also talking among one another. Could the emails have been from someone at the Hilton wanting to warn other hotels in the area about how bad the convention was? And that was why it was taken seriously, because it was from someone in the business? I'd imagine hotels in similar areas talk to each other about conventions or clients to avoid and this seems like it'd fit perfectly
As someone who has worked in hotels for many years I would not be surprised if this is the case at all. There's usually a culture of courtesy between hotels as healthy competition means better rates for everyone. Also Hilton is a HUGE company with a lot of subsidiaries so it wouldn't surprise me if the hotel in Spokane was actually a part of the Hilton brand under a different name and this was an internal veto or something got passed along through internal channels.
Or it could've been a family member or friend of someone in the staff warning the staff member, who then was asked if the person could send out a more detailed account. Since the con had already been banned from a lot of places, I suspect the initial warnings had already passed around, and it wasn't until someone heard through external means what exactly is about to happen that there was a request for more information.
If the claims that Hilton blackmailed the convention organizers was true would you really put it past them to also warn all possible convention centers and event halls?
As someone who's had experience working in a similar community, I can absolutely believe managers/employees from other hotels trade horror stories with one another so that's a pretty safe bet on what happened.
Edit: I talked to someone who works in hotel management and she told me that hotel employees under a larger parent company absolutely talk to each other about this kind of thing.
Yeah Internet Historian said in his video that the different hotels in the Seattle area were warning each other, which is why they had to go all the way to Spokane
imagine just being a normal person who just so happened to really like funny talking animals and you go to this convention thinking you're gonna have a fun time talking about your interest with people who share it and other stuff like that
THEN ALL THIS HAPPENS

This year at Furpocolypse there was a couple of incidents. One was in the main hall during the 18+ dance (which I don't think anyone was checking ages for unless there was some mark on my badge I didn't notice. There was also a mandatory mask policy that half the crowd seemed to be ignoring) where someone brought a 4' beach ball and the crowd hit it into the ceiling hard enough it knocked down 2 ceiling tiles. There was some near misses with a chandelier and the audio set up too.
The big one that everyone talked about though was The Window Indecent. For context, theres a big open main area that's surrounded on 3 sides by hotel rooms and then the main entrance. All of the hotel rooms facing inwards still have windows for some reason. The Incedent happened on Saturday I believe, someone punched a gigantic hole through their window and rained glass on the people below. I wasn't there but from a blocked off area I'm fairly certain the window was directly above the main entrance to the artists alley/dealers den so it was heavily trafficked.
the way someone who was there said "i remember the diapers and emergency responders firsthand" and the con twitter had the audacity to say "yeah but it wasnt the tornado the internet was making it out to be" huh?? what do they define as a "tornado" then? a sinkhole opening up under the venue? a literal tornado?
Literally every furry convention of any real size has first responders show up. Any convention of any real size practically does.
They were probably one of the good ones who weren't getting into those kinds of con-ending shenanigans and didn't see the extent of the chaos
i didn’t have an experience with rainfurrest, but i had a friend who went to midwest furfest in 2014, when the hotel was chlorine bombed. he ended up in therapy for years. shit sucked.

The hotel was WHAT?
i heard about this from a friend, yikes
@@camwintlenewell6448 Yep. Some sick fucko decided to set off toxic gas in the hotel. 19 people had to be taken to hospitals.
To add to how fucked up this situation is, the news anchors of MSNBC, who covered this story, LAUGHED. THEY LAUGHED. People could've gotten killed and yet the news anchors were laughing like "LOL funny animal people almost died". In a way, that's also how the internet reacted too. Smh people are screwed up, just because they have a strange hobby doesn't make it excusable to laugh at their suffering. They're a human being just like you and I.
I'm not a person who wishes ill on anyone often, but genuinely SCREW those news anchors. I genuinely hope the two who laughed got fired or had some sort of punishment for their actions. GOD that report makes me so mad. Sorry for the rant that situation genuinely pisses me off-
Also, to the OP, I hope your friend has gotten better. I wish him well! 💖
My ex was there too, he said he was going to the dance hall when suddenly people started yelling and running the other way. I'm sorry your friend had to endure that, it sounded terrifying.
Haha, I attended RF 2008-2014, had a (mostly) great time-- my husband and I decided to skip 2015, figuring we'd go the following year. Really dodged a bullet on that one, I guess.
No, you dodged a missile.
Wow I’ve only been in this fandom for a few years and I’ve never heard of this and now I see why. The attendees destroy the hotel and when the hotel manager has had enough they eat the contract and the attendees blame the hotel
Never told anyone this, but I went to a furry convention around 2013-2014 as a minor (about 12 years old). And there was a guy there that kept pestering me, even with my mum around, he was overly interested and kept saying inappropriate things. For example, when it was “fursuiters only” in the room for the fursuit photo shoot, and my mum had to leave, he came over and insisted on looking after me. Luckily we had a trusted friend there that watched me instead. This guy was creepy.
This guy ended up being reported to the con and was put on a last chance warning, and then the following day he came up to me and another minor, put his arms around both of us, and said something like “so, it seems I was reported for being inappropriate with a minor?” I freaked and mum and I left the room. He got banned from the con for inappropriate interactions with a minor. But this isn’t where it ends.
So it turns out Pocari Roo was friends with this guy, and pocari made a couple of posts on Instagram about the situation and this man, defending him. The man had told her a story that he got banned from the con because “an over protective parent was discriminatory over grey muzzles (older furs)” and because Pocari is a popufur everyone jumped on their bandwagon and were posting harsh comments about me and my mother without even knowing who we were or what the full story was. If you scroll back on her Instagram far enough one of these posts are still up.
This guy has since claimed to have left the fandom, but he still wears fursuits and is really into the blow up toys aspect of the fandom. Either way he is creepy.
I’m still apart of the fandom none the less, making fursuits and all that, but yeah some of the members of this fandom aren’t right, that’s for sure. I will argue that most of the fandom is neurodivergent (as myself and all of my current furry friends are) and although that isn’t a bad thing at all, from experience it makes things feel a little weird when someone isn’t getting help for some potentially fucked up thoughts and behaviours.
That’s all folks, thanks for reading I guess?
I shouldn’t be surprised that Pocari Roo of all people defended this, but I kind of am. Popufurs are just fucked in the head it seems. I’m deeply sorry you had to go through that, he was not in the right for harassing you like that.
I see, can you tell me who is the people he harass you?
Because I went to her instragram I didn't found any posts about this guy, maybe I miss it or she already delete it.

I can't imagine the new furries who were so excited for their first con and have it turn out to be an actual dumpster fire. My first furry con was a great experience and ended up reinvigorating my love for the fandom. I ended up making my first fursuit and attending another con a year later. I have since had a couple bad experiences at cons but nothing to this extent. Like you said, I think a lot of the issues with conventions have to do with the staff and the way they operate. The only issues that I've had were on the people they hired/volunteers and making sure they were doing their jobs properly.
I think it was at BLFC 2018 and I was going to the furry concert. When I got there, the volunteer who was in charge of keeping people out until the stage was set up was drinking on the job. When the concert was about to start, we ended up leaving because more staff and volunteers were drinking by the stage and it turned into them doing shots. I personally am very afraid of p*king and the rate they were doing shots and drinking vodka from the bottle looked like they were headed in that direction, so I left. My evening wasn't ruined though, me and my friend found something else to do and the rest of the con ran smoothly for us. I wish these things wouldn't happen though.
i feel so bad for all the genuinely nice and sweet furries that have to deal with this as their reputation now :(
I've been to only one irl furry convention (Confuzzled 2019) and compared to the horror stories of US cons, it was pretty tame in comparison lol. I think there was some mischief but it was very minor stuff such as a hotel room bible being thrown out a window and a random shoe in the hallway that became a running gag.

The mischief happens in the 18+ only hotel rooms at night in european cons. I'm guessing it's the same in america now.

I have family that participat in Furry culture, with a couple of them actually often being either Con Staff or Guests of Honor, and while neither of them attended RainFurrest 2015, it was still a well known disaster.
The family member I have that often attends cons as a staff member has mentioned one con they attended where people had moved all the potted plants to another floor as a prank, which sounds pretty funny as long as it was cleaned up by the prankers afterwards.
From what I understand, Furries in general are a delightful bunch of creative like-minds, and I admire the ingenuity in many of their fursonas and costumes. But, as with any large Fandom (trust me, I'm a Sonic fan, I know this), you're going to have a handful of wierdos that ruin the fun for the people who are genuinely there to have a good time and reconnect with thier friends they may have not seen for months.
Whats up with pranks and cons? Staff already have to deal with a huge mob of probably drunk and definitely stupid people and they also have to clean up and pay for their stupid pranks? Tf out of here
@@shaunyjimenez9637 I totally agree that damaging pranks are totally not okay and should be reprimanded, I was just referring to a more harmless one that the people who set it up had put everything back in place by the end of the night, and only localized it to one area. @@ShingoShojiCoolVibrations Ironically, I'm not actually a Furry. I just like drawing cartoon animals because it has a much more lenient form of anatomy when it comes to squash-and-stretch with animation.
I happen to be a fan of Sonic the Hedgehog and Darkwing Duck (and Disney Ducks in general) because I grew up with these familiar characters, and appreciate the nostalgia they envoke and the consistency they provide by having been around for several decades.
I also suck at designing clothes, so the simpler the world rules, the better; I can focus more on the character traits than trying to figure out what the heck thier shoe treads should look like and what color thier stupid shoelaces should be.
If anything, I'm less Furry and more of a Toon Enthusiast.
Besides, Furry isn't really an insult, if that's what you were trying to go for. So WHAT if someone enjoys a little bit of fantasy on the side? Why are you so intent on destroying someone's fun just because you want to be a dick? What are you, some sort of stupid sports fan, or are you a muscle car guy? Comic book fan? Why would that be considered any different?
Honestly, the most interesting thing to me is that even at this scale, the furry fandom is called a singular "fandom" rather than just a full blown internet subculture. There's not really something in particular they're a "fan" of, so it feels more like just the usage of a word because it was already a word in circulation, but I don't think the connotation works.
furries also vary greatly in how much of a furry they are, though. the spectrum ranges from people that just like disney movies and TMNT to people that flat out think they are animals trapped in human bodies,so calling it a "subculture" is a little too restricting since you can be a furry in so many different ways.

Sad thing is, the furry fandom is full of amazing talented people who are positive and cool. But like most fandoms, there’s always a bunch of toxic people who ruin the rest of the fandom.

Unfortunately with drugs and alcohol so heavily in the mix it becomes impossible to have a culture of 'hey, let's all behave well to keep this community nice for everyone!' I feel bad for the organisers who were clearly watching their permissive, non exclusionary atmosphere of con management blow up in their faces.
BTW the tweets trying to defend the public diaper wearers really bugs me because what they are doing is non consensual exhibitionism. They could wear a diaper and use it in their room if they like the feeling, I don't kink shame, but part of the experience for them is walking round in public wearing a used diaper and clearly it was obvious to everyone what was going on. Saying hey don't fucking do this in public areas full of non consenting bystanders is not kink shaming.
Based on other comments, apparently what went wrong was that the con was for those who were banned from other conventions

Throwing this out there, I think modern fandom zines could be a good topic to potentially discuss! There's quite a few scandals with well documented call outs, and not to mention how these high productions kind of go against a lot of what a zine typically was back in the day.
god, please no. we don't need more evidence of how horrible furries can be.
Is there a common culture to all fandom zines?
@@aeddiefarmer I've only been in a handful of fandom art zines myself, truthfully. But I'd say a lot do not adequately pay their artists, mostly due to poor management. Mods will have 30-60 artists on a project, which spreads any profit you make pretty thin..I've had friends that have made literally /cents/ from a zine for fully rendered illustrations. (The most I would of made one a zine would of been around 30 bucks but that mod ran off with it 😊) I will say its usually pretty well known going into them they aren't that profitable and most ppl are motivated by their love of fandom but I feel like its not the best thing to normalize for so much work?
The high quality expectations of the zine are also kind of a problem since zines are traditionally supposed to be cheap and obtainable and just a fun thing for a community. I've heard some folks say they wished they could call their fandom zines "art books" but it makes them nervous that it sounds too official and could have studios coming after them.
And then back to how hard they are to mod again...especially ones with so many artists. A lot of folks go into them with no experience and just can't keep deadlines or don't actually know how to properly estimate production costs at all. Modding/organizing projects is a pretty hard, thankless job to begin with so I'm not trying to roast anyone cause it's surely not something I would do but like...know your limits? Especially if there's money involved and a lot of folks depending on you.
This is just what I've observed though! Sorry if it's long and a bit all over.

From someone who use to live in Washington, I can tell you that Spokane (pronounced spoke-anne) is EXTREMELY different culturally from Seattle. Seattle is known for being extremely liberal, while Spokane is... well, it's like the whole city has made it's goal to balance out the "hippies" over in Seattle. Like, I've honestly heard parts of Washington outside Seattle being compared to the deep South or Bible Belt (the incredibly die-hard conservative portion of the US). On a more fun note, my very first convention took place around 2009, when "The Game" (yes, the one you just lost) was at the height of it's popularity. The convention Saboten Con, and anime con that was put on by the same people who have put on Arizona's absolutely massive Phoenix Comic Con for years, and there was apparently a WAY larger attendance than the people who ran it intended. The hotel they reserved was definitely not large enough for the crowd that attended. Nothing really serious happened that convention, it was just cramped as all heck. Now, I mentioned "The Game" because at one point con security literally started threatening to throw out anyone who mentioned it. Sounds ridiculous, but for reference, the hotel layout was essentially the lobby leading to a massive indoor square, which was used for artist alley. That square looked clear up to ALL the rooms. Every floor was a balcony overlooking artist alley, like one big hollow building. And since the hotel really wasn't that huge, artist alley was pretty much the only place to just hang out if your weren't in a panel. Thus, when someone screamed "I lost the game", you had a huge, extremely compact crowd of people all immediately start shouting and groaning, many of which were sweaty, tired, stressed, and all around irritable. But again, the place was so densely packed that I'm not sure security could have thrown anyone out if they wanted, because even they couldn't push through the absolute ocean of bodies to catch any perpetrators.
ffs... You just had to mention TG multiple times there didn't you. I do not appreciate this troll & I feel attacked.

When we showed up at the convention the last year we saw someone who had been banned from several of our meets for illegal and often times violent behavior. When we came to quietly let convention staff know to keep an eye out for the person along with some of the times we'd had to call the police for the individual we were threatened with expulsion from the convention for trying to harm the convention's inclusivity. not gonna lie,a part of me questions if i should choose a different fursona to get a fursuit made of (she's a disney princess-esq cat girl from a mystical land of wonder where only the purist and most kind-hearted are granted powers) simply because i fear what would happen if a fursona that innocent were to go to a con full of degenerates. in reality,i could easy beat any of their skulls into the ground and would without hesitation but i'm also a VERY committed actress/fursuiter and don't want to break character unless i ABSOLUTLY have to.

It's easy and fun to find non-perverted ways to take perverted things...but.
You're also going to paint a target on yourself, and some folks will absolutely want to win that game.
If you're in good company, they'll limit themselves and respect whatever rules you've got going. It can be a running joke among friends?
But I've also met actual predators who were attracted to innocence. And what one did, without my consent...she's why I'll never regard myself as a furry. .
So, before making a decision, make sure whatever slice of the community you join is open-minded about good people, and judgemental as hell about anyone who'd try to hurt you. And this remains a necessary precaution, even if you decide to play the most evil creature you can imagine.
Eh, it's a bit more complex than just "these kind of things". But I see where you're coming from.
@@novatare mhm, you know what i mean
I don't think there were a lot of innocents, but that's just me and my gradually loosening mental stabilty
Washingtonian here! Seattle is a pretty common place for cons to go because we're pretty subculture-friendly generally speaking. Also, they're right. Spokane is way, way more conservative than Seattle by just a ridiculous degree, and it's 5 hours from Seattle. We have to drive through Spokane to get to our family's cabin, and I always feel a little on edge there.
I have family in Coeur d'Alene Idaho and we need to drive through Spokane to get there. I hate Spokane lol
I’m the same with feeling on edge. Happens with a lot of places in Eastern Washington and Idaho tbh - I just feel this strange sense of not belonging when I’m there for some reason
Yeah, Spokane is weirdly conservative for washington
Spokane leftist here. Maybe it’s just my experience but I’ve grown up here and don’t see nearly as much conservatism as what is commonly reported. At least not to a “ridiculous degree.” Idaho, however…
This is like Oregon. Most people know you'll be pretty okay in Eugene or Portland, but you really have to worry about places like Springfield or Roseburg.
I can't stop listening to you speak, idc about what just calms me
7:39 imagine having to be arrested or taken to the hospital in a fur suit 😭💀✋🏻
They cut you’re fursuit to get it off of you too 😭
