Actually, they knew exactly what they were doing. Mod Shadow initially claimed to hate SJWs, but later came out against the mission of the blog, saying "I'm an SJW" which parallels Shadow's arc in SA2, from despising humanity to understanding the value of life so much that he sacrificed his own to protect it. That bit about being spacekin (which apparently means identifying as alien) is also golden because Shadow the Hedgehog _is_ part alien. Mod Shadow respected the lore.

@@nymthetyrant I guarantee you that right now there are at least thousands of people working on a sociology or anthropology thesis for a Ph.D - it's a vast new field of human interaction happening right in public and developing at an unprecedented speed. The only reason it isn't more popular is because in the 2-3 years it will take to put together a decent thesis the group of study will have probably mutated to the point you need to start a new one just to explain it. In small subcultures it ends up almost as live social archaeology.

Part of the issue with this entire SJW/anti-SJW war Tumblr had going at the time was that no one seemed to agree about what was what. Being anti-SJW could mean anything from pretty much being a nazi to being against Tumblr's particular brand of "everything is problematic", and being an SJW could mean anything from being vaguely leftist to being a communist to being the kind of person who bullies people of the site for drawing a character in a way they disapprove of.
I feel like SJW became like "Karen" or "pick-me" where it became so overused, it lost it's meaning.

Mod Shadow was definitely based on the Ow the Edge memes, and the rather wrong-headed portrayal of Shadow that permeated his own game that gave rise to said memes, more than the actual character.

Its something that neither a book or television show can truly capture properly, it's so entrenched in the format of the medium it's presented in, and I *love* stories told in unusual mediums!

As a Sonic fan and someone who (unfortunately?) grew up on Tumblr, this story is absolutely iconic. The Sonic characters being anti-SJW just feels, incredibly ridiculous to anyone who’s familiar with the characterization of these characters; they all have different motives, but a lot of them fight against oppression and injustice, so I have no idea why people think it was all genuine. Me and my friends quote from the blog from time to time. Dramas wish they had as much development and intrigue that this blog had

i wasn't directly involved in any way, but i remember seeing this dumpster fire live. it was legitimately HILARIOUS to watch everything play out and the curveballs of different non sonic characters appearing was like getting hit with a sack of bricks. also i like to imagine that there's at least one fanfiction where someone wrote this as the actual characters having this argument, and if there isn't i'll create it with my own hands.

I feel bad for people who got caught up in the anti-SJW craze, the term was unfortunately many people’s gateway into politics and equated terf, wokescold type leftists with anyone who believed in feminism and lgbtq rights. It turned a lot of potentially progressive minded people away from the good arguments in favor of minority rights and pushed them to believe the only alternative to unreasonable sensitivity was far right reactionary views. I’m glad the term and its stigma has faded away with time.
As ashamed I was to have been part of them once, i'll admit it was fun while it lasted.
It's like how Karen used to be a term for a very specific type of person, but then it slowly devolved into any woman you happen to disagree with. SJW used to refer specifically to the type of people who use the veneer of social equality to bully and harass people who "deserve" it.
I think with some people, they gotten pushed into one side through external circumstances, so you have people who blame the progressive side for radicalizing them. So like, a weird nail in a bridge moment. But otherwise, it's fascinating that I ended up with chronic skepticism instead of anything major. I questioned stuff on r/tumblrinaction and they have a dedicated question subreddit for asking questions like, "What are trans?" And stuff generally in that vein.
I think of this ask blog as like a weird reaction to things they couldn't fully understand at the time. Weird, yet historically fascinating.

IMO it's exactly like a performance. The pictures in the posts add a comic feel, like there's a thoughtful script behind it, characters thought out and even coming out after the curtains close for a little cast Q&A . Honestly really well done for some kids over a summer break.

Holy Hell, as someone that was a pretty big Sonic fan and pretty close to falling into the anti-SJW movement at the time, I can't even comprehend how I would have followed this.
But at least it seems to have given us a predecessor to Shadow "You're a beta male, Sonic" the Hedgehog.
I would like to point out that unfortunately, while Sonic For Real Justice was satire, actual anti-SJW character RP blogs were a very real thing on tumblr at that time and predated SFRJ.
In fact, I'm pretty sure the reason for SFRJ becoming a DanganRonpa askblog for a bit is directly inspired by the fact that for some fucking reason, DanganRonpa characters and Komaeda very much in particular were VERY popular with many anti-SJWs on tumblr. The whole "Mod * character name *" thing with reaction images on each post was something you'd definitely see on an unironic anti-SJW DanganRonpa blog too.

I actually remember when the "tucute" thing started, and the description you've got missed a few key details.
It wasn't started by transmeds. It was started by the anti-transmeds after they realised that the term "truscum" had been reclaimed by the transmeds, and they decided they needed a term for themselves, deciding on "tucute" because it was impossible to make that an insult. It became an insult by mere association with them, because it turns out language does not define thought.
I think it's so funny how they tried to make it a label that couldn't become an insult, yet the transmeds re-reclaimed it successfully(as they should) cuz I've never seen a single person self identify as a tucute, it's only ever used as a derogatory term(as it should be).

The fact that all of the mods act pretty accurately to the characters that they chose to their names not only astonishes me, but goes to show that these people cared way more about Sonic than there ask blogs. Like the shipping wars between Sonamy and Sonally are still echoing through the fandom TO THIS DAY even though Sally is mostly irrelevant at this point. I can 100% see the real Shadow coming out as Spacekin and posting himself giving the middle finger to Sonic before leaving. AND the fact that Silver is the one that gets shit on the most is also accurate to the fandom even though people have become a lot more accepting to him as a character in more recent times. I'm only half way through the video ( 15:56 ) but I'm going to predict that Knuckles and Sonic are going to get into a huge blow out with each other over some petty argument.
