Thank you and Congrats on ur success! and for sharing info like this thats sorely needed by so many people who have no recourse other than to try to do it themselves...
I just installed a used module on a customer’s vehicle not knowing this and ive got the system bleed but all the light are on cause I didn’t know i had to rewrite the vin😑 thanks for the video great job!
U need mechanics that are good with diagnostic and electrical, they have to test electrical system using wiring diagram to see if it’s the ABS module has problem, relays, fuses, the PCM or the wire between them has problem before replacing parts. The thing that u can do for yourself is check for blown fuse first (ABS). Look in your user manual for the fuse diagram
I just starter today with the same issue hcu module but ford is charging me 2,900 dlls to do tge job its almost what my vehicle cost at this point 2013 ford edge. Thank you for your help
The job is not that hard, the only thing that I have problem with is the bolts on the battery bracket. But u can do all this work then tow the car to the mechanic to ask him to program the module for you. Please do not throw away the old ones, he’s going to need to use it to programming
@@vallynsworld awesome, I'll pick up my vehicle tomorrow from Ford, tow it home and order the part I'll do the job my self. I will keep the old part. Thank you so much
@@jonathan_0124if u can bleed the brake yourself too then tow it to the mechanic and have it program it, I have the procedure layout in the video. Good luck and save money
2003 ford focus here.. the ABS and brake dash lights both came on at one point and have been on for quite a while..codes are the dreaded B1342 and C1267... supposedly the module itself is bad...I have looked high and low trying to get Clear definitive feedback and info as to whether the module on these can be swapped with a used but identical yr and part number match...some people have said it needs to be recoded while others stated they were able to swap the module part with no recoding at all.. perhaps its dependent on whether you have a newer ford verses an old one..or whether the part was a general match or an exact part # match.. whatever the case , I ordered on ebay as exact a match as I could get, same yr same part # as well... I intend to swap the module Only, not the pump part since the codes indicated module failure...I will repost back here for others to let you know if it was possible without a recode...Ive heard you Can reprogram these with the Forscan software and a laptop...Im prepared to try that if needed or if I have to, get one of those Autel machines to get it done...antilocks are Very important for safety! we have been using the car without the function but Man! all seems normal till you need to do a panic stop, then you skid with no antilocks! makes you appreciate how they are always there to save you from a skid and help you stop in Much shorter, controlled manner.
Thank you, Ive watched many videos on RUclips and gather as much information as possible to get the job done properly. My mechanics have the Autel OBD machine but didn’t know how to do it right. It didn’t work well the first and second try until I watch one guy do the programming and ask to borrow the machine and do it myself and it worked! I think it needed to code bc I saw other people send the broken part to get it fixed so they don’t need to code.
I bought a used ABS and borrow a professional OBD machine to program the module to transfer the old ABS information to the new used ABS so the computer can read them
I Also did this swap and did a utube video. I endured months of soft pedal and normal bleeding before. I also tried the grenade brake method to activate abs. Had a pro bleed it but apparently they did not have abs activate tool. So I swapped module for a used one. I found out you can't swap the electronics. So I used old one. That finally fixed my problem. What a knuckle buster to get that bracket. Ha ha
I reprogramed the used module from the local junk yard. You can do both, new or used if you have the right scan tool, that's why I called the one of the mechanic I used before to ask them to program and he didn't do it right, so I borrow the scan tool and do it myself. it's not hard to do.
Look at the bracket of the ABS, it’s all the way towards the wall, and you have to go underneath the car to get to it. Trace your hands on the metal bracket, you will reach it
Im sorry I don’t think we live in the same town plus it’s pretty easy to replace (except two crazy bolt) but the only thing is you need the fancy professional OBD machine to program the ABS. Ask your mechanic to do it for u
It’s Autel, I don’t know the model, I borrowed the mechanic’s machine, you have to look for machine that can program modules, u can finish the job, bleed the brakes, then lift the car up, 1) disconnect the “new ABS” 2) connect the old ABS then follow the steps in the video…3) connect the new ABS the program, the OBD will tell u when to disconnect and instructions
There’s also an abs bleeding procedure that should be done anytime the hydraulic pump is opened on the system. The system has to be bled manually and electronically with the scanner along with the module reprogramming. Looks like you got it fixed but the first shop should’ve known that. Might’ve saved you a lot of time.
The first shop replaced master cylinder and brake booster and did bleed the brakes but nothing works bc they didn’t replace the right part…which is the ABS. They attempted to take out the ABS but only got one of the bolt out of two on the battery bracket then gave up and asked me to take it to the dealership…all their sloppy job cost me tons money…incompetent job
I had the mechanic do the bleeding procedure, it's easy to do but after taking the ABS apart a few times. I don't want to deal with the bleeding anymore.
@@pokeyboy1 The first mechanic changed out brake booster and master cylinder and attempted to remove the ABS but after attempted to remove one of the bolt, they decided it's not worth messing with it bc tge other bolts are difficult to get to. They called me apologized and gave me discount bc the brake still not fixed and they adviced me to take it to the dealership. The dealership wants to charge me $2000 to fix it, that's why I took it home and do it myself.
Great video, best I’ve seen on this procedure!

Thank you, the mechanic I took the car to didn’t know how to do it too. I did an extensive research and borrowed his scan tool and did it myself.
Thank you for the video, If my module says no communication can it still be used to program the new one/used one? Is the another method with machine?

Does your Edge come with Adaptive Cruise Control?
It doesn’t have adaptive cruise control
how did you get that last lower screw out of the abs ? can't see anyway to remove it from going under the car.

Use short wrench
Short and Small handle

I had the ford dealer replace booster to fix plus it was a recall. The brakes were still terrible after. Even a dealer can't get it right
