If you have Mazda 3, there is a valve that gets stuck WITHOUT an error code. The brakes will feel mushy. You need to get on an unpaved road and brake hard activating ABS 5-10 times. This will unblock the valve. No diagnostics or replacement needed. You are welcome.
Same issue with my 2012 Subaru Legacy, and at the same time, my sons Subaru 2016 Forester! Very dangerous when you suddenly can't brake! The brake experts replaced calipers , pressure flush, at lots of expense! Problem may repeat. A serious safety issue!
I've heard the issue comes back after some time though. What has been your experience with this? Also does it cause leaking from ABS module? Mine appears to have some leaking...
@@AudreysKitchen Yes, it has come back. I did the same reset and it's been fine, except that I did not need ABS since this winter. In the end, you have to replace the valve at some point.
Can hear this guy doesn't just talk he knows what he is doing. And is correct with voltage drop. From my experience and as a electronic technician old school one taught me also. A voltage drop can also be to a short circuit that has some resistance. So it can cause problems like on cars your battery life gets shortened. And you basically get 2 types of short circuit one with 0 resistanc which causes fuse to blow usually. And the one with resistance so the fuse doesnt blow yet you get battery drainage issues. And i have seen it in the past. Few months ago i worked on a Toyota hilux which had extra battery in for camping lights and so on. The owner asked me if i could test if there wqs 12volt at the connectors at back of rhe vehicle. I tested the ground 1st and its fine. 12v side dead. So went to engine compartment test that battery 0volt! He is like what?! 0 volt?! That cant be. I also tested a 100 amp fuse which is also fine. So he went in to make some coffee and now my brain is thinking and im like yeah 0volt is extremely flat. So i removed the positive terminal on that battery tested again and i got like 2 volt literally 😂. The moment i touched the positive terminal on battery volts drop immediately so theres a short circuit somewhere in that harnass. The client also said the people that fitted his reverse camera suspect that they might have damaged some wires. So yeah just to be extra safe i insulated the positive terminal. So in mean time the client can take vehicle to the workshop that fits the camping accessories and so.
I'm in the thick of things right now with my 06 GMC HD2500. I 'm using an old Snap On brick so did a bleed test & know ABS motor works, but pedal blowby felt where it should push back against foot during this test. I have done a road test & speed registers at all frt & r. WHEELS . If I delete abs light & drive off,ABS light stays off during complete drive cycle. Only when I shut truck off turn back on ABS light glows but yet no codes are being registered!! truck brakes fine otherwise. everything on truck is new from last year and nothing is worn & no seized "calipers" including a new master & hydro boost. Will check wiring for bad ground or ?? Coincidence after replacing a bad RF hub bearing yet, speed sensor registers ok! Thanks for sharing your knowledge!! you gave me a couple more tips to check out !! THERE IS A REASON AND I HATE UNWANTED DASH LIGHTS !!🤣
I hear you! I have a '97 Riviera with a Teves/ATC ABS/TC system that fails the pump-motor voltage test at 12mph after a hot soak. I've replaced the fuse & relay, cleaned the contacts with electronic cleaner, and even replaced the EBTCM with a wrecking yard unit. The pump always works when I need it, but the 'judge' in the module insists on deactivating the system & lighting the dash lights because it doesn't like the feedback voltages from the motor... Arghhh!
@@Ecutestinglimited halfords said my abs pump was not running but i have no abs light or fault on diagnostic would it still be pump with no errors please ?
@@jacko-gk2st Hi. This can occur, however it is unlikely that the pump would be malfunctioning without producing any fault codes or warning lights. Sorry to bother you, I'm new to using a multimeter and I don't know where to put it to see the reading. My multimeter is a craftman, can you tell me? I have the same problem as you. Wish all auto vids were clear and precise as yours. I just bought a 04 Pontiac Bonneville in wonderful condition except the abs pump had a leak from underneath the black cylinder. It was where the elec harness is mounted. Took off the module and used a whole can of brake cleaner inside /out then used permatex on the harness gasket and reattached it. Prior owner was using E brake to drive it. Do you figure the pump is burned up cause he left all harnesses connected and no fluid in the system? The brake system is bone dry I'm sure. Don't want to waste time putting module back on , replace fluid and bleed for nothing. Any advise would be greatly appreciated
Is it possible that the ABS module could be damaged after having changed the brake fluid in the traditional way? The traditional way of applying the brake, loosening the bleed valve, etc. When changing brake calipers, the brake pedal sinks. We have changed everything, bled the system and it is still the same.

Hello, I have a 2001 porsche 996 C4 with PSM. I have several symptoms right now: 1) the pedal sometimes becomes very hard or 2) sudden braking without any pressue being applied to the brake pedal. When either of these happen, ABS light comes on on the dashboard. Code 4460. I switched out the brake pedal switch which did nothing. I had the ABS electronic module verified and was told it was fine (no open circuit) and the problem is the hydraulic unit. When brakes come on unexpectedly, the only way to relieve pressure is to disconnect one or more brake lines from the ABS unit and then reconnect. Does this confirm that the problem is the hydraulic unit itself? Thanks for our help.
I have a 2001 ford focus. After renewing the entire brake system, the brakes started to fail. All parts were renewed but it did not improve. Finally, it was decided that the ABS unit was defective. Is the problem really caused by the ABS unit? Or is there another reason?

my car is audi a4 b5 1996 quattro. On diagnostics, it doesn't show an ABS pump error, but all my wheels lock when I press the pedal and stay like that until I let the air out. This has been happening since I jacked the car up, started the car and ran the wheels to idle. They told me that I am not allowed to work with the quattro drive because the pump has built up pressure and now it is constantly working, and that the piston in it was leaking and does not return anymore. Is this correct and is there any other problem?

my 2015 c-max hybrid will not release the brakes when in the hot sun, then sometimes flags the abs light. If I feather the accelerator, it eventually releases. Also, if I switch from reverse to drive, it will release also. The compressor sounds weak and slow. It's like it's gotten weaker over time. Braking during operation is not a problem. In fact, sometimes it's too strong, especially under 10 MPH. The dealership quoted $2,500 to replace the whole ABS module. Looking at the troubleshooting report, they're basing it mostly off the code and test values. No mention of the sensors being tested.

I am getting ABS Sensor errors, front outside, rear nearside. Also power steering Malfunction, several other communication errors When i test voltage at the plug these are 9v, the other two working ones 11.9v I checked the wire continuity to the sensor. I pulled the plug of the ABS module, put 12v in on the correct pins and tested the sensor plug and got 12v. So the ABS module is outputting 9v for these sensors. Why 9v on two diagonal opposed sensors and 12v on the other two? This is a Ford Focus RS Mk2. Would each opposing pair have a different supply maybe? Is the Module in need of removing and refurbishing?

Is it common issue the ABS pump to fail on Honda Civic MK8, 2006 with R16A Engine 1.8L? My Break pedal travels slowly down when pressed, travels excessively on the first try to stop, and its stopping but slowly. The second step on the pedal then it grips and stops great. Would that be a faulty ABS pump fault or something else? Thanks. Its great to see that it can be repairable as the original unit is about 500-600 Euros from Honda. I have no lights lid up on the dash.
Hi. These ABS pumps do fail, however the issue you're describing could be a master cylinder fault also. Have you had the vehicle checked over and scanned for fault codes?

Hi. If you have already changed the sensor and the fault still remains then you are right, there could be a problem with the wiring to the sensor or the ABS module itself. We have another video which goes into a bit more detail surrounding wheel speed sensor faults and how to diagnose where the fault lies which you can view here: ruclips.net/video/T74B_aELnU0/видео.html. We would recommend first checking the wiring to the sensor to make sure it is receiving the correct voltage and it has a good ground. Follow the steps in the video and if the wiring checks out ok, then continue to follow the other steps in the video to confirm it is the ABS unit that is faulty. If this is the case then please contact our technical support team via email at info@ecutesting.com or visit our website www.ecutesting.com to get your unit re-built. Thanks.
The brake fluid does not reach to the right-back wheel of my sonata car. The abs light is off. Could you please state possible reasons for that? Thanks a lot.

Hi. Have you got any fault codes present when scanning the vehicle? If you haven't then we would recommend checking all the basics, e.g. bleed the breaks to remove any air in the system, check the brake fluid level and quality, check for worn brake pads or rotors, and check for any damaged brake lines. If they all look good, or if you did have ABS related fault codes present when scanning the vehicle, the ABS unit may be faulty. Hi. A brake pedal going completely to the floor could be a sign of low brake fluid, air in the brake lines, issues with the master cylinder, or a leak in the system. Checking the master cylinder or brake callipers for leaks would also be worth doing. Hope this helps!

Hi. It sounds like it is a hydraulic issue as these generally don't log fault codes or illuminate warning lights. We would recommend testing the hydraulics of the brake system. Cheers.
I have an E46 330ci BMW which after driving for 30 to 60 minutes brings up 3 warning lights, all ABS module related. The scan says it’s an intermittent internal ABS control module fault. I clear the fault and the problem repeats. What I can’t understand is that if there’s an electrical fault why isn’t it there all the time - or could it be engine compartment heat/heat soaking that triggers the problem?

Hi. We would recommend checking the relevant fuse for the ABS, however we haven't heard of a faulty battery causing this code, and unfortunately we usually see the 01130 code when the ABS has an electronic fault within the module itself. If the fuse and the wiring to the ABS check out ok, then it is likely the ABS is faulty, and if it is then you are more than welcome to send the unit into us for a full test and re-build. This would all have been great to know before sending my unit in, but your website didn't offer any of this advice. I hope it is a fault with the unit as I'm supposed to be taking the van away in less than a fortnight, and I will have almost no time to find the problem once I have the unit back. Maybe you should link this video on the website, so that people are more likely to have checked all of these things before they remove the unit and send it in?

Same here what's happing with your Toyota is happening with my 97 Nissan Pathfinder LE. The ABS light comes on and when I turn the ignition of it keeps vibrating. I checked the fluid to make sure that it's was still full and it was. I also checked the fuses all the tiny fuses are good the 40 amp fuse time I unplugged that it turned off so I looked at the fuse we had corrosion on it. So I was thinking about ordering me some more 40 fuses but I started thinking that could be peace of the problem but not the problem solver. I put the fuse back in and it started back vibrating again from there I started to think what is ABS anti braking system so I went out on a dirt road going 5 mph hit the brake then backed up hit the brake pull forward hit the emergency brake after I did all of that it stopped I turned the key off turn it back on no ABS light and no vibrating. Do you know the cause of that? Do you think I should change my braking fluid because I had it now for 2 years never changed it. Before me it was belonging to an elderly gentleman that passed away and it sat for about 3 years so no break fluid changing has happened.

Hi. There could be a number of other factors causing the ABS and TC to be faulty. We would recommend scanning the vehicle for any fault codes to help diagnose the problem. If you could send the details of this scan, your vehicle make and model, and any further symptoms to info@ecutesting.com, then our technical support team would be happy to assist you further. Thanks.

I'm driving scirocco 1.4 tsi and the car had error code 01130, anyone know if this really ABS pumps faulty or maybe sensors, fuse etc. Thanks in advance!
Hi. The 01130 fault code is usually caused by either a blown fuse or a faulty ABS unit. We would recommend testing the fuses first before condemning the unit. If you believe your ABS unit is faulty and would like to get it re-built, then please visit our website: www.ecutesting.com/common-faults/volkswagen/vw-01130-abs-operation-implausible-signal/ and select your vehicle make for details of how to send it into us. I believe I've had a faulty ABS hydraulic pump on my VW Corrado SLC for many years now I took a pair of alligator clips from the battery to the motor and all I heard was a click, the motor never turned on, that's how I know it's faulty. I've got the worst parasitic draw because of it. I'm going with a non ABS swap!
2011 Audi A4 ABS module has lost communication with the car. I have a used work in working order but it will need to be coded. The stock ones doesn't work and has my car in limp mode and disabled a ton of things. Sometimes you'll hear the stock one that's faulty clicking as if it's trying to work. Any ideas from anyone on what could be going on or can someone point me in the direction on how to code the new one so I can install it. Thanks in advance.
Hi. If your old ABS unit is clicking whilst running, it could indicate a failed pump. In regards to re-coding a replacement ABS, the procedure varies depending on system type with some being done with simple diagnostic equipment, whereas others are more complex. If you contact our technical support team at info@ecutesting.com or by calling +44 1773 535638 (Mon-Fri 9am-5:30pm BST) with details of the fault and the make and part number of your ABS unit, then they will be able to advise you further. This what all automotive videos should be like to the point and informative very well done
Yeah unless you have adaptive cruise control
@@JokersHangout what do you do if it does have adaptive cruise control?
Voltage drop would be from B+ at battery to the power wire at module. You did available voltage tests
Arghhh!
I have used you in the past for a abs pump on a corsa with no flow to one of the outlets. Very quick turnaround service. Thank you

22 civic abs module diagnosed bad. If I replace it will it need to be reprogrammed?
Is it possible that the ABS module could be damaged after having changed the brake fluid in the traditional way? The traditional way of applying the brake, loosening the bleed valve, etc. When changing brake calipers, the brake pedal sinks. We have changed everything, bled the system and it is still the same.
Most common stuff I've seen recently is open circuits in wheel speed sensors traced back to ABS pump

My abs pump fuse (30A) keeps blowing. Breaks themselves are fine.
Could it be :
1) blown motor
2) sticking relays?
3) short, such as wheel sensor?
Where should I start?
So you can tell if it's the pump or the module that's bad by the fuse?

my 2015 c-max hybrid will not release the brakes when in the hot sun, then sometimes flags the abs light.

Also power steering Malfunction, several other communication errors
When i test voltage at the plug these are 9v, the other two working ones 11.9v
I checked the wire continuity to the sensor.

Hi there, please can you email us your vehicle details, the symptoms you have been experiencing, fault codes if any are present and any other relevant information to info@ecutesting.com or give us a call on 01773 535638, our technical support team can look into this for you. Thank you
Hi, i have a ford fiesta 2009 model. I got p0500-00 and C0031-07 fault. It says front left sensor but i have already changed it and bearing as well but still got same problem. On diagnotic tool the speed shows 0km/h. Can this be the wiring or abs module?
Hi. If there is no fluid reaching just one wheel then you could have a blocked or damaged brake line or a faulty ABS unit. Please watch our video explaining how to differentiate which could be causing the issue: ruclips.net/video/RrSn0M7n9eE/видео.html (test for no fluid reaching one of the callipers starts at 2:51). If you do believe your ABS unit to be faulty, then please feel free to send it into us and we can comprehensively test it to identify any faults. Thanks.
Hello. My kia sportage sometime shows ABS sign and wheel deviation signs. it stops by itself and come back from time to time. no engine check signal. I am not sure if related to driving in water or not. Do you have an idea?
Hi. If you are able, please use a diagnostic scan tool to obtain the logs when the ABS light appears and email them to our technical support team at info@ecutesting.com. Please also include your make and model of vehicle, any fault codes present and any further relevant information, and they will be happy to assist you further.
I have question is that possible
Hi, 2014 Ram 2500 soft pedal no brakes I can push to floor with a little brake. Did replace master cylinder. Same issue, I have no codes for the ABS system.. any thoughts
Hi the fault sounds like it is a hydraulic issue. If you have checked the brake lines for damage or blockages and the whole braking system for air leaks then the fault could be with your ABS unit. Please send the part number of your ABS unit to info@ecutesting.com and they will advise you of any testing/re-build solution we can provide. Thanks.
I have a 2007 Tahoe. Apparently my BPM is discontinued. My brakes are soft. Any suggestions?
Follow this link: www.ecutesting.com/product-catalogue/chevrolet/tahoe/abs-pump-ecumodule-combined/ and select the part number which matches the one printed on your ABS to get it tested and re-built!
In some cases fuse faulty but service center guys change whole abs control unit 😰.
I have a seat ibiza. My abs light and handbrake has come on and buzzing from pump even when engine is off. Even took fuses out and still buzzing. Gotta disconnect battery to turn it off
Hi. The ABS pump running continuously is a common sign that there is an internal fault affecting the ABS unit. If you would like to get your unit tested and potentially re-built, please visit our website and find the unit which matches the part number printed on your ABS. You can then fill in our online test form: myaccount.ecutesting.com/ for details of how to send it in to us. If you have any questions, please contact our technical support team via email on info@ecutesting.com or by calling +44 1773 535638 (Mon-Fri 9am-5:30pm BST) with details of the fault, the make and model of your vehicle, and the part number of your ABS unit. Hi, I have an issue, I parked my w204 c300 4matic mercedes 2010 for about 3 weeks and when I drove it for like 4meter away the brake pedal went flat momentarily ( happened 3 times ) after which it normalized, since then I haven't driven it again, please I would like your help on what could be the cause
Hi. A brake pedal going completely to the floor could be a sign of low brake fluid, air in the brake lines, issues with the master cylinder, or a leak in the system. Checking the brake fluid level and condition is essential, and you might need to bleed the brakes to remove any trapped air. Checking the master cylinder or brake callipers for leaks would also be worth doing. Hope this helps!
@@Ecutestinglimited the fluid is intact and also never worked on so not certain of air trapped in, also the calipers work fine when I step on the brakes but there a slow return from the pedal , and also it sinks in after some seconds of hardness when been stepped on

Sir , my sonata 2009 abs is electrocuted as there was a lot of smoke when connected to the battery terminal . How to fix this ?
You wanna know how to fix it, or how it works?
Hi, i have a 2009 Scirocco 2.0tsi. ABS & Traction lights came on randomly along with a flashing handbrake light. Took it to a garage that reset the error codes and the issue went away for about 15 miles; now it is back. Brakes feel fine, no issue with the way it drives either. Code is 16352 - Control Module - Defective.
Is this something your rebuild service can sort out? Your rebuild cost is really reasonable considering i have been quoted for a new module @ £1,200 plus 5hrs labour...

Hello, I need help, I have a brake workshop, they brought us an iveco daily 35s15 2019 ambulance, when you step on the pedal it goes very low, it does not show an abs failure in the ecu, the pump has no problem, neither do the wheels, everything indicates that the fault is in the abs, it has already happened to us with several vehicles, it is as if the brake fluid left somewhere inside the abs module, has it happened to you?
Hi. The symptoms you are describing are consistent with a failing ABS module and these do typically present as intermittent to begin with, but will quickly become permanent if the unit is faulty. If you would like to send your unit into us for testing please fill in our online test form at myaccount.ecutesting.com/

when going over 60 in a 2012 honda pilot, sometimes vtm4, traction, and abs light come on. After you turn the car off and drive down the road, they disappear. Anyone know the cause. Might be an abs sensor but who knows...
I hope you post your solution. I had a wheel sensor turning five warning lights on, sometimes. Then it was all the time. I bought a scanner but I was hoping the wheel sensor would fix it. It did.....all but ABS and traction lights and cruise control. WTF. I'm hoping to fix it still.
2012 Mazda 5. Brakes peddle drops to floor. Pumped they work fine, but after awhile of no braking then when applying brakes, it drops again. Also, could hear bearings. Replaced back brakes, calipers, bearings and still have the problem. You can feel peddle catch and then air leaves, peddle drops to floor. Was told to replace ABS HCU. What do you think ? This looks to be very expensive. Im in CA
See above comments. Trigger your ABS on a gravel road!
I have exactly the same problem on my 2010 Mazda 2 DE, how did you solve it?
Hi I have a 2010 VW GTI that has abs code 01130. Brakes feel fine and all wheel sensors are good. Could it be the battery?
If you would like more information on the fault, check out our article on it here: www.ecutesting.com/common-faults/volkswagen/volkswagen-golf-audi-tt-and-a3-abs-pump-failure/ Hope this helps!
