This lady has got it all over most of the "Men" that are basically trying to sell some gimmick on RUclips. She is a great teacher, and explains things in plain English without the confusion. Thanks for the video!
I had an ABS light come pop up on my 86 BMW 325 es. I was fortunate enough to run into a BMW mechanic who was doing side work ln the street and he pointed me to the left front wheel bearing area. I also remember having no breaking issues and he remarked that on my particular model it was a common problem. I unscrewed the old one put in a new one and the ABS light went off. I am no mechanic but always thought it to be a good idea to get a service manual for every car I had. Now with RUclips you really don’t need to buy one. Thank you for the video.
My ABS light went on and I thought it was the ABS system. It turns out to be the wheel bearing that was worn out. When ABS light turns on first check the wheel bearings, it will save you a lot of money.
This video was very helpful. I’m actually dealing with an issue like this at my job and I replaced the wheel speed sensor because there wasn’t one on there and then come to find out it’s the eccentric ring that was broken. This video was very helpful.
Great job ! The speed sensor returns a voltage which is proportional to the wheel speed and the voltages from all the wheels have to be in the same range. It uses a magnetic circuit where there is a magnet inside a coil and when the reluctance wheel rotates it deforms the magnetic field with each tooth of the gear (not a gear but may look like one) This causes a back and forth current in the coil which is read as an AC voltage that is proportional to wheel speed. Pretty cool !!
This was the THE MOST simplified, thorough explanation of a repair or issue of a vehicle I have ever seen. Nicely done. I am going to subscribe because of your video. I'm trying repair a 2010 prius with the abs light on. I don't want to a mechanic or dealer if I can do it myself. I know they are going to try to up charge me. If you can help me, I would appreciate it. Thank you.
2:48 I didn’t know this but wondered if it had another name. Some people will throw out names of things knowing it’s called something else but don’t have the patience to give you the other name while teaching. Anyway I’m super glad she just taught this
Over here in Sweden/Stockholm there are just a few workshops that can work on american cars. Mine’s a Cadillac CTS and I have to wait for a month to get a time to service it. This video helped me and cleared things up for me. Great job!
I am dealing with ABS light on my dashboard, and I changed all 4 ABS sensors. One of the rear wheel bearings was the worst from the other ones. If my ABS light doesn't go away after I reset my truck, I will definitely look into the wheel bearings because they look pretty beaten up. Thank you for this incredibly informative video 😊.
Thank you for all the information on this job I need to fix this on my 2004 mini cooper , you went into very good detail. I now have to find out what is at fault
Yes I have an abs light on my car dash but couldn't find the actual fault I even tried to change my break pads and the discs are still new, thanks I will now try your tip
I have and 05 Saturn Relay/Chevy Uplander a few years ago a mechanic replaced my CV joints and wheel bearing and hub, and when I drove home this ABS light was on, wasn't on before the new wheel bearings. Anyhow I watched the Scotty Kilmore channel about it he says if the ABS light is on means your ABS system won't operate but your vehicle will still stop. It's been on for over two years, last week I had my front brakes and rotors serviced by a mechanic he replaced all of the brakes and just mentioned that my ABS wasn't operating but didn't suggest me to bother repair it. To date vehicle is riding ok the light is on but seems to stop. If it's just and expensive sensor then maybe I will check the wrecker yard to see if I can get a few there.
Excellent! Information and explanations. Only one helpful tip was not discussed could lead to another discovery and that's tire wear. During the abs check as she described, once you notice movement on that tire indicating a losing bearing, more often than not, a "tell tell" sign will be uneven tire wear. Look for it.
Thanks again guys for keep us teaching and safe and blessed all your team i very proud to watch your videos and i keep learning so much and I feel a of your teams again thanks so much keep safe and blessed
My mom came to me because her abs would activate every now and then when she would brake, I took a look at it and there was rust jacking under the speed sensor. Cleaned it up and put some paint over the bare surface, problem solved (02 trailblazer)
That's the video I was looking for ,OK I'm on the right track iam to replace bearing hub, one question that's the bad abs sensor activate esc service light??
I just bought this 2004 Suburban and I noticed the brake/ABS plug underneath the front passenger seat was unplugged. Soon as I plugged it up the 2 front brakes passenger /driver started dragging. I wonder if the previous owner unplugged the plug for that reason. To release the brakes I opened up the bleeder screw. And when I changed the brakes both passenger/driver side brakes was to the metal. Can having the ABS plugged up cause the brakes to drag? Leaving it unplugged will it help stop the dragging?
I wrongly thought ❤ if the ABS light is “on” then the ABS isn’t working. Apparently it can continue to operate. In CA a “CEL” is an auto smog Fail, but ABS isn’t required.
I just had new tires put on my truck and abs/stablitrack light was on immediately after turning on truck. I told guy that put tires on and he says oh something must be in hub causing it. I finally got around to searching and found the crimped wire he hit while putting wheel on. Newer truck and the wire runs over upper ball joint so I can see how it could happen. They are at least paying for new sensor but not my time to install
Thank you very much. alot I need to repair. now I know. Problems been there for 3 months and ABS light came on bout 2 weeks ago. Its my hub and I think that its doing exactly that to the brake pads and rotar etc. SMH. I got laid off about a week after I damaged that front right hub bearing.
Wooow I just realized what the issue is with my Burban and why the back tire sometimes sounds like my brakes are sticking.i think my back wheel bearing is going out but not completely out
It's not the abs, on these old chevy/gm vehicles it's mostly the solder joints on the abs bcm board. They Crack over time and it will trigger your abs & service brakes light. This is assuming you already checked your hub sensor (abs wire) 🛞 and your brakes still work fine.
I had an ABS issue that didnt cause the light to come on. My steering wheel would turn to the left when braking and I had squealing brakes. I pulled the fuse and the issue went away. It ended up being a very easy fix and was simply a gunked up ABS sensor.
I’m gonna try this on my 2018 CRV. Only the ABS light came on because all the dashboard light already disappeared after replacing my old battery with new one by AAA. The technician said all the light will disappear after a mile of driving. It did except the ABS. Wish me luck.
I got 1992 Suburban K1500 model. The ABS light comes on when I drive around 15 - 25 mph but turn off when I stop. Sometimes the Parking Brake light comes on too. After driving with the ABS light ON, the Service Engine Light comes on. Replaced both CV Axle and the outside centrex are in good condition. What might be the problem? Thank you.
2010 Silverado 1500, abs comes on along with service trailer break system, service traction control, service stabilitrak. Spent $1500 at the local shop to get this fixed but it still comes back. and it only comes on in cold weather. 50 and below. Please help.. Matt
I replaced my wheel bearing, but the warnings still come up, and O'Reilly didnt come up with any issues in their scan, but my brakes are stuttering at times when the lights come on. It's not often, but it's sketchy when it happens
That grinding sound you mentioned here, does that come on instantly when you're driving or when you reach a certain speed? My car is having this weird sound, abs VSC light came on but now it's off and I mostly hear it when I press on the gas pedal and when it reaches speeds 30 mph and over. but also hear it just cruising. 2010 Toyota Corolla LE 1.8
My escalade had this issue and my wheel caught on fire in the midle of no where in I94- North fen Dakota!!! it was - 20 outside and pitch black dark. I literally thought i was going to die while waiting or the tow guy. I paid 2 thoousand for the entire break system
I've just replaced both rear wheel bearing hubs on a a-class, w169. During the test drive the abs light came on and the car went into limp mode. I disconnected the speed sensors. Wiped them clean and put them back. Same thing happened on the next drive. I don't get it. Found code 4A42 with the obd2 scanner. So.... speed sensor is faulty? I don't have patience to figure out which one so will replace both. They were working fine before I replaced the hubs... and this makes me wonder if it's not the sensor but something else?
I have a Toyota Highlander 2009 4wd and I changed my axle for the driver side last Saturday, after that the car ran good but all the time the ABS light comes on sometimes coming on and off every 20 to 30 minutes. Do you know what I need to do?
My ABS light was on and after changing all breaks and rotors and speed sensors I found the problem was the magnetic disk in the bearings that reads the speed sensors where broken and corroded away. I changed my bearings, and the ABS light went out.

Incredible explanation. Her knowledge & explanation was well put together
Can a wheel bearing cause the “BRAKE”, ABS, and traction control light to all come on at once?
She's incredibly talented

My abs light was due to bad bearings. Put a new hub on and it was good to go.

I'm hoping to see more toyota camry's troubleshooting from her. Her previous videos related to camry/aurion were really helpful.
Why don’t the ABS tell the ECU which tire is affected as well? We are living like fred flintstone still
Thank you for this!! Who knew a bad bearing could cause so many problems!
I love your understanding of cars.
A real mechanic.
Amazing explanation. I wish some of my professors had that ability to relate information
Thank you for all the information on this job I need to fix this on my 2004 mini cooper , you went into very good detail. I now have to find out what is at fault
Sue is truly the best! Very knowledgeable and well spoken clear information. Thank you!! Now Give Sue a well deserved raise. $$$
Great job keep them videos coming not many talk about abs issues like this great topic
Nice job on that video. Clear and concise
Great review it's very interesting to hear that information about the abs lights thanks it was helpful.
Yes I have an abs light on my car dash but couldn't find the actual fault I even tried to change my break pads and the discs are still new, thanks I will now try your tip
If your brakes work fine, 1st thing is to check your ground straps. GM/Chevy have 4 and if it's 4x4 they have 5 ground wires
Sue! Great video MY friend has this problem on his 2008 F150

Amazing demonstration,
Yes most of the time it the quick disconnect to the hub assembly or also known as wheel bearing but it's really called hub assembly
I wrongly thought ❤ if the ABS light is “on” then the ABS isn’t working. Apparently it can continue to operate. In CA a “CEL” is an auto smog Fail, but ABS isn’t required.
I love your work
Awesome channel! ❤😊
She doesn’t mention if wheels have no play and brakes is good then the problem could be your ABS module🤔Honda pilot are Notorious for that problem

very nicely explained, well done you.
No ABS parts (speed sensor) come up to my 2006 Lincoln Navigator.
When the ABS sensor fail, will starting the ABS sysytem working and reduce brake distance? Especial on downhill.
What an excellent discourse! thank you!
Excellently explained, really helpful video.
Good afternoon family and good health to everyone especially MENTAL. Thank you very much for sharing.

I've heard that strobe-style LED bulbs can cause the ABS light to come on if they're being used as brake lights.
Perfect timing, mines just started doing this, after I just cleaned mines. My plug is all shattered into crumbs.
Very good job l Learne from this lady thanks

Super, Well-Done explanation!!! Thanks much... much enjoyed.
When replaced the failed ABS sensor, any extra work needs to be done? Need any calibration by dealers?
Will you please put a link into a code reader you recommend? Thanks!
Some vehicles have the sensor on the dust shield behind the wheel bearing… (S10)
