Sorry not sorry, but that was not three easy steps. After check fuse you lost every person who doesn't know about mechanics and that's why we come to RUclips to get three easy steps to fix something.
My 2015 dodge challenger is code is u1412 what do I have to do?
My 75 year old friend wants to give you a kiss. After all the work he did, the light came on. Thankfully I googled it and found your video. Not even a blown fuse, just resetting it cleared the lights that he was worried about.
Thanks for watching!
Hello. After spark plug change mines came on. How do I get it reset? Please and thank you sir
Thanks not talking about nothing or how great you are for 20 minutes like all these other guys.
BRUH FOR REAL
😂😂
The most common problem is magnetic trash at the wheel sensor. Very simple fix - disconnect the wheel sensor at the brake. It is nothing but a magnet that moves as a cogwheel rotates with the wheel. Spray it with brake cleaner and reinstall. You don't need to change the sensor. The magnetic particles collect on the sensor when you drive in high water or wet conditions.
Nice info as the module costs $500 and that's just the part.❤👏❤️thanks
I just know this is my issue as I drove whole day in heavy rain on a road trip and ABS and stability ESC lights came up. But I also know when I go to Hyundai they’ll come up with some hefty repair price. Unfortunately I don’t know about cars as I’m a girl so unable to follow your easy otherwise instructions. “Disconnect the wheel sensor at the brake” hmmm 🤷♀️
@@rainacherienne1010 same thing happned to my nissan extrail. After draining through water logged street due to heavy rainm the abs and 4wd light came up on the cluster because the ABS sensors got debris or magnetic particles clogged on it. Or maybe it messged up the ABS motor control relay like mentioned in this video. Every since sometimes I have speedometer dropping to zero and then working again and then nit for for few minutes and then coming alive again while I also notice chnage in power and speed of the car when then speed needle drops. It all might be because of the abs sensor or wheel speed monitoring sensor getting too dirty or failed.
@@rainacherienne1010 m
@@FishingAdventuresDubai Same, I drove through a flooded street. I’m at the dealership service as I type and it’s $1,700 to fix it.
Try this first... My 2010 Subaru legacy 2.5i abs , flashing brake light and disabled AWD. It was the battery ground wire . I unbolted it from top of engine block and wire brushed it and the engine block. Cleaned out the threads and wire brushed the bolt threads. Hooked back up and turned key on. No lights. Been 3 months now, no problems.
Great video shows you how to diagnose and it doesn’t lead to just one problem but it shows you other factors that can cause the ABS light to come on 👏🏼
Just info - some vehicles have the reluctor as part of the wheel bearing. In this case the new bearing has to be oriented correctly or you're back to where you started - no ABS.
Great video and helpful, one small additional bit of information. Not all cars are four wheel ABS, some are only two wheel abs. it’s very helpful when you’re going to ask for a price and availability if you know what your car is equipped with.
step 1, remove abs fuse
step 2, store fuse in glove box
step 3, place small piece of tape over abs warning light
:)
Great Esay super grant i do that sooon hic
Yes garage told me take bulb out and will pass MOT but had been thinking about tape as well.
Hey that’s my way also lol abs brakes suck anyway
farm.central. ohio you deserve a drink. If this works for me, I need your cash app info. ✌️
How do you know what fuse to pull out?
Very good informational video for the specific problem, thank you. Pretty sad people are mocking the video just because they don't have the obvious requirements you need in this type of maintenance. Neither do I but now that I have the knowledge I can safely inspect and question the mechanics who do have the equipment to use.
I mocked the video because it was crap.
@@oldgeordiegeezer3086 or cuz you r a fkg clown
The video is being mocked because he starts the video saying it’s for everyday people, then he has wheels taken apart and a number of other skills people generally don’t really have.
ABS light on (05 Blazer) causing a parasitc draw I cleaned the ground wire on the Rad frame And removed the butt connectors further down the line which had rust inside them ..Problem solved Saved myself from testing a module and calling myself a parts replacer
actually helpful! thank you so much. my cables been eaten up and two cables were kissing each other. once i wrapped them up individually, the abs light went away!
What about when you have intermittent steering issues and your calipers stick with no patterns? Nobody seems to notice a problem yet there's 0 volts going to my ABS module and a constant drag noise coming from both front rotors.
I wish mine would throw a code.
Did you ever figure it out?
I had my rear wheel bearings replaced, now my ABS light and Brake warning lights are stuck on. It really upsets me because if it's just sensors and not actual problems with the brakes, this useless stuff could run into a lot of money. Stopping back at the repair shop after work today. I hope they can fix this problem. My check engine light has been on for weeks and I was told it was just a sensor. I'm not rich to spend a couple hundered dollars on each warning light that happens to come on because a sensor is dirty.
So what happen? Did they fix it for free? I think the guy working on it messed it up putting it back together.. 5 years ago lol.
Its happen to me now..after brek check using throttle and brek at same time..
@@fatahaac3 How is that? Tell me exactly how did that light come on in your vehicle?
Same as my car, after they put 2 tire front bearing the ABS Andthe check Engine light came on,the mechanic told me to buy a sensor, huh head ache.i did not fix the brake yet coz I don't have money......
Its all a con .
I wanted to add that it could be your brake switch as well. My brake lights worked normal however my abs light was on. It actually turned on and off for awhile. But eventually stayed on and wouldnt turn off. I did have a code for brake switch light. I changed it out and my abs light turned off.
On my Chevy pickup, I let it roll backwards down the driveway with the key on (not running) and hit the brakes. When I started it up, the light was out and stayed out. Play around with different sequences and see if this works on your vehicle.
If this saves my truck, I’ll be so happy
Lots of good info. My ABS and brake light warning are not on, but at less than 5-6 mi/hr the anti-lock kicks in making it dangerous in quick stop situation. It started as an intermittent problem but no is constant. I have quotes of up to 375.00 per spindle to repair it. I know I can do it for less than that. when I pull the fuse the ABS and brake lights come on and stay on. The question I have is... If I unplug the ABS sensor at the spindle will it effect the vehicle in any negative way
I have the same problem.. wen coming to a stop, right at 5-0 mph the truck jerks. Idk what to do..
Same problem my car ??
abs is good but for many years, from the beginning,we had no abs in any car. You don't have to have it to drive. Of course abs does add a slight degree of a safety.
I learned to drive 50 years ago in Northern Wisconsin (think snow and ice). I hate abs - when it is slippery I have to continually remind myself not to pump the brakes if the vehicle goes into a slide. I like the solution that involves removing the fuse and putting tape over the idiot light. Easier to dismantle the abs system than to turn off my finely-honed inner abs system.
Abs light is a mot failure now so it needs to be off
Excellent example of over-engineering. ABS is not needed. Period!
@@jeffmilum9001 say that to a pile up on a highway and your doing 70mph and have only 40 odd meters to stop
@@kiviKatKa I have been in a situation where there were several pilots and/or I had to slam on my brakes and I didn't want gravel or some other substance to cause my ABS to kick in. In 50 years of driving I have never needed ABS I just use my brakes and my steering wheel
Very helpful! Where I live in Texas, an abs light makes a vehicle fail the annual inspection and you can't get it registered.
I'm a licensed Texas safety and emissions inspector and can tell you a lit abs light will not cause your vehicle to fail an inspection. Whoever told you that is full of shit. Code 4.20.11 line q of the TXDPS inspection code says "Anti-lock (ABS) lamp on signal which is on or comes on during test will not be cause for rejection." Basically Abs is an add on to the service (regular) brakes and as long as there's nothing wrong with the service brakes, the vehicle will pass the brake portion of the inspection.
@@frankgonzalez24 If I slam on breaks a couple of times in my 96 Blazer less than 50k miles and if you have a friend that does inspections ask them if they can use another vehicle to pass the inspection.
@@frankgonzalez24 Thank you for citing the regulations. (I confirmed it with a simple Google search.) I just got rejected today because of the ABS light. I'll try that again.
@@frankgonzalez24So, basically it’s just emissions & tires that the vehicle has to pass?
@@sunshine3914blinkers and license plate light too, where I live
Reasonable, quick overview of ABS, without great detail. Thanks
So basically if the fuse isn't blown it's going to go to a repair shop. Sure hope people have found an HONEST one or they are going to tell you it's the most expensive fix, even if it's not. Here in the south, no snow and drive carefully in the rain, no need for ABS system. Remember we drove without these for 70 years at least. Mine just went off at 10,438 miles on a car that is 5 years old.
Congratulations, now you have 1 million plus 1
Thanks for watching Tommy!
My own tip : If it is a ABS module like the one shown Chances are the solder is cracked Or corroded You can open the lid after Carefully using a razor or thin blade to remove the rubber gasket seal.
Items you will need : Solder gun pen tip. solder. Water proof/high temp chauking, Thermo paste for computers
Remove the lid Heat up and remove any solder Then reapply one at a time Do not try to solder the smaller connectons as they are hard to do for people new to this Or without better tools for the job
Clean any paste that was on the lid Reapply where the lip dips downwards and meet's the board Make sure your old gasket is cleanned off then apply new gasket ..install and test
If it works .... You just saved $200 - $600 on buying one ...
Another issue is Wiring after the ABS sensor line in the engine bay : Many car makes have wire connections with crimped butt connectors These in time do get wet and dirt And fail
Find a Hanyes manual for your year and make Head to the back of the book for diagrams on electronics under ABS And you will find the color of the wires And where they go
I'm not a car person, so thank you... but I didn't understand a word of this.
@@jeezursilly5252 Well thats's a fix too Pay a mechanic to fix your issue
Seriously!!!🙄
Makes prefect sense to fixing the control box instead of replacing it.
@@jeezursilly5252 it's not necessarily just car related, but useful when it comes to basic or advanced electricity.
Many older rear wheel drive vehicles have a single abs sensor located on the differential housing using 3 sensors total.
I can confirm this on my 1996 vehicle.
Love these guys! I use them at least once a month and they have yet to fail me!!
Thanks for watching!
Very good information, after reading through some of the comments I realized there are some really stupid people out there, you made it so easy to check and you have people talk about how hard it is, but then when you look at most of the politicians that keep getting voted in office time and time again you start to realize that stupid really runs deep. Good day sir
You are not wrong. Thank you so much for watching and commenting!
I hope it is as easy as you make it look. Thank you.
man I hate using mulit meters.. I'm not confident with those..
I have a B7 vw passat. 2 rear wheels not returning speeds. I have had to pull the abs fuse to disable the abs as the offside right front abs is activating at moderately low brake pressure. The rear abs rings and sensors check out ok.
Great video, It was simple and easy to follow. I have one question. What does the ABS pump sound like when it is running?
😊 a
it buzzes very quietly, put your hand on it - you will feel it\
Thank you. It gives me an idea what the mechanic is checking
Thanks for watching!
I like that clear Snap-On test light.
It is my favorite test light! Thank you for watching!
Just had a quick question if the back wheel is locking up and the abs is on what should I be troubleshooting
My ABS ABD light would come on after driving about 20 feet, in either forward or reverse. Turns out it was the relay (one of two) in the trunk on the pax side. The one closest to the gas tank was the culprit.
Really useful. Thank you. I have the basic tools & knowledge to follow what you have described, i just need a little time to get to the vehicle & check it over.
Nice! Thanks for watching Jon!
will the light on the dash still light up on the dash with the fuse pulled? Never mind I'm gonna go do it and see for myself, but thanks anyways , I couldn't wait for an answer. Keep up the videos.
Heck, let us know if it worked!
With the ABS fuse pulled there should be no power going to the ABS system... The car's computer should detect this as a problem and the ABS light should still come on.
thanks for the video, if the diagnostic is reading changes in 3 out of the 4 wheels except one which is stuck on a fixed number. I changed the wheel sensor and still . this happened after a hit to the right front side of the car what could it be?

This problem can be a pain and expensive to fix, some cars have metal cased wheel sensors that mount into alloy or steel hubs and after a while are impossible to remove without breaking them, plus if the pump is at fault the cost of the pump can be more than the value of certain ageing cars.I can tell you after 50 years in the motor trade that this is seldom a simple or cheap fix.

Tape on the light is the best way to go!
But still cheaper than a new car..

Great simple straightforward advice 👍
If a sensor is suspected also make sure there is no rust build up under the sensor causing it to be out of position
my lites been on 12 months ..my ck engine been on longer than that.someday iwill have to get my 20 year old Malibu inspected.
I believe that using OBD scanner is much easier and more safe than these steps otherwise visiting the mechanic. I don't recommend for any car owners without professional background to do the ABS sensor testing.
Thanks for the video because I can't deny that you provided useful information and ideas.
What type of special training do you need to follow the simple steps in this video? If you're worried about backyard mechanics then your worries are wasted, you should be worried about the person beside you ordering dinner on the phone while meeting their side piece before they get home!

Nice and straight to the point
Another problem could be GROUNDING cables between the battery, and body, to engine, points. On Ford products these cables become corroded, or rusty. This causes poor grounding. Many other Ford vehicles have similar problems. Their bare metal woven ground cables corrode to the point of breaking. On my 2008 MKZ the Check Brake System light would come on as I drove out of my driveway. I checked fuses, and other pieces. Upon inspection of the two cables, one from battery, to shock tower, and another cable from engine , to the other shock tower were dirty, and loose. Using a jumper wire from the engine to shock tower mount, the problem was solved. Later , replacing the small bolts that attach the cables, to the body, and tapping the holes for, slightly larger, bolts, assured a much better connection.
After restoring the ground connections paint them with liquid electrical tape to seal out all moisture and air.👍👍

Will sticking brakes cause abs and vdc lights. My 350z will suddenly (in drive) shift into low gear and come to a sudden stop when I let go the gas paddle. I can take my foot and lift the brake paddle and all seems normal. I can drive a few as long as I dont touch the brakes.
Thanks for this video. Very helpful. I found the issue with my pickup truck ABS warning, one of the wire speed sensors was chewed by our dog. Reconnected it, the light turned off and the ABS itself is working again.

Looks like I'm Not alone in the ABS light thing. I've had this thing for almost 10 yrs changed wheel bearing its 4x4 & light came off after all was put back together & drives & sounds Great I don't get it.
My local Midas Muffler shop where I get all my work done changed the right front sensor on my 2008 Ranger. $475.00 Now my left front sounds like a cat got caught in the wheel. Not wanting to pay that price again I did as this video said after a long search for the correct fuse. Ford sucks on that, they number the fuses and finding the right one was a cluster. Now it works like any power brake system I've used forever. Doing the Snoopy dance now.
Midas is the worst. Ive paid for an oil change and checked it after before, and it was still black. Same filter. Find a good shop

Midas is such a rip off..incredibly over priced and their work isn't great.

Dig that lounge music too! 💯
ABS is nothing but icing on the cake and 99.9% of drivers will never need it. I have known the ABS to cause hella accidents when people changed a bunch of stuff (that they shouldnt have changed - one guy i knew just had to have a higher rear end ratio in his Dodge truck, and this totally botched the ABS!) I drove, my parents drove, your parents drove, your GRANDparents drove without ABS! To me its more junk to go wrong and cost you all your savings! Keep your speed down in pouring rain and you'll never need it. Not that ABS is not a good thing but look back and ask yourself HOW MANY TIMES have you locked up the wheels during braking? Chances are the answers zero, whether you drove ABS or not!

2009 dodge caliber sxt light came on a week ago. Checked tires by grabbing them seeing any looseness. Seemed fine in all 4. Put front up on jackstands and sped tires to 50 mph. Noise seemed fine on both sides. Checked rear wheels for looseness. None. Spinned wheels by hand and seemed fine. Checked tire pressure to see if psi was OK. NOT. All 4 tires were 25 to 27 psi. Put in 33 psi in all tires and took for a spin and ABS light went out. Holy shite. I wouldn't have thunk that. CHECK tire pressure. It was a easy fix.....

Test light checks fuses.when light comes on is it bad or good
_"When this light is on, it means the system is disabled"_
Not true. My ABS warning lamp is on and yet the ABS works just fine. I've tested it on a dirt road. The brakes pulse just like they should and the car pulls straight.
The only thing I can think of is a short in the lamp wiring. Any other reason the lamp would be on? If it is a short, is there any common places this would happen? I'm not looking forward to completely disassembling the dash in a '93 Caprice just to get the stupid light to go out.
Wrong bro if your abs the light is on it means your brake is not properly working, the cause sometimes your brake should not open proper or maybe if you apply your it could be dragging, or going on other side try to figure it bro 100%

Good vid! If you have time i have question. My 2005 Dod Grand Caravan has had ABS light on for a few years.
Don't ask bout inspections:)))
I finally need to fix this. Cost of guessing mount up fffast.
I sent to Garage to scan looking for a direction as I had checked sensors and (rings), with no visible issues.
They said pump ABS would not power, no codes for sensors.
I removed battery and checked for power to plug on Module. 12 v and good ground to both heavy wired connectors.
Top 2 positive, lower 2 ground
I did the ohm check on all sensors they checked ok. Have power to plus side of connectors (close to each sensor).
However i tried the connect sensor pins to meter set to A/C, spinning tire I get no current detected on any sensors.
What I did not check while I had module plug off was pin 7 left side (holding the plug as it fits) is supposed to be powered as well.
I guess i need to get up and close to wiring diagram.
Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated.

Could low braking fluid cause an ABS light to turn on? It’s a bit lower than that max level.
It can cause your "Brake" light to turn on, do not complete the lost fluid until you check you brake pad, if they are wear off change them that should raise your brake fluid level, if they are not you have a leak and you should get some one to check your brake system.
