I think it’s the orchestra and how the vocals are in this song. It has to take a lot out of Myles to sing this song. Especially when he get towards the end and has that 80’s rock and metal style of vocals going on. I always thought he would have done very well in that era in a band.

I would add I was there the first night with my son in one of the boxes. After they performed "Words..." we divulged to each other later that we both were so overwhelmed by the song and the swell of the crowd reaction, that we were moved to tears. The best concert of my life, and I've been to hundreds.

I think that having Myles and Mark is what makes Alter Bridge so special. They're both crazy good guitar players, I mean they're guitar Gods, AND they're both amazing singers, with very distinct range and style of singing. It's like the perfect combination. Plus they're awesome songwriters. And yes, this was the first time Mark sang in a song together with Myles and fans loved it so much that he sang two songs in following albums, Waters Rising (off of Fortress) and Forever Falling (off of Walk The Sky) Plus, this is a song where the two of them talk with each other about their religious beliefs (Myles being pretty much atheist and Mark being more religious) and I think it is one of their most powerful songs ever! Alex, love your channel and reactions!
I don't have their lyrics tattooed on me for nothing. I've seen them live a couple times and they are amazing. Definitely keep checking them out, anything live is well worth checking out. This is easily my favourite live performance of theirs. That note miles hits is absolute insanity and that little approving smirk on Mark's face right afterwards is great.
Alter Bridge is just on a whole other wave length. Myles Kennedy is one of the best rock vocalist out there right now imo. I've never heard of this band and WOW, that was a stunning song and performance. The Royal Albert Hall is an amazing venue so when you plan a trip to London definitely see a concert there.

Fun fact: Myles Kennedy is from Spokane, WA, where i live. In 2017, i went to see the band, they chose Spokane as the LAST CITY on their tour supporting The Last Hero. I’ve been telling your for months to listen to this recording. I’m glad you enjoyed it. If you listen in the intro, Myles says that they don’t play it live and joke about him trying to hit that high note...but he’s manning up. This song also really showcases how well Myles and Mark harmonize together and that note at the end is a note that only Myles can hit. You can even watch Mark look at him and give a little smile and nod after that note. Also, this song is a back and forth dialogue between Myles and Mark, about mark trying to convince Myles about his Christian faith.
I was at the Indianapolis show in February and have that version of Blackbird on my channel ;) I was very surprised they still took the time to play it with a new record to promote and so much other catalog choices.

I have seen alter bridge about 5 times live and every time we see them i get as excited about it as i did the first time. They are one of my favorites live and thats saying something. ive been blessed enough to get to see many bands live from dream theater to porcupine tree. I consider dream theater and porcupine tree to be the best live bands but alter bridge is the only one to get me super excited every time.
I saw these live many years ago when they released their first album and I was as awe inspired now as I was back then. Myles is just angelic. No better Male rock singer than him. Alex there are soooo many more songs like this where the band just take you on a trance. You arent doing yourself justice by not reacting to more of their art.
Mark sang the chorus to Creed’s ‘My Own Prison’. Besides that, ‘Words Darker Than Their Wings’ was the first time we ever got to hear him sing lead in a song; even before his first solo record came out. That’s why it’s such a special song. Fans of these musicians, going all the way back to the Creed days, wanted to hear Mark sing.

I've never heard of this band and WOW, that was a stunning song and performance. The Royal Albert Hall is an amazing venue so when you plan a trip to London definitely see a concert there.

Fun fact: Myles Kennedy is from Spokane, WA, where i live. In 2017, i went to see the band, they chose Spokane as the LAST CITY on their tour supporting The Last Hero. They played this song live, since it's Myles' hometown, and he fucking SHREDDED that high note.

I saw Alter Bridge Live last year RIGHT before the pandemic and no joke it was the best musical experience of my entire life. It was a small venue, and it was so clear that they were WAY more talented live and the studio doesn't do their work justice. I swear I almost cried

Mark Tremonti has his own band called Tremonti and he plays the guitar and sings.
I’ve been telling your for months to listen to this recording. I’m glad you enjoyed it. If you listen in the intro, Myles says that they don’t play it live and joke about him trying to hit that high note...but he’s manning up. This song also really showcases how well Myles and Mark harmonize together and that note at the end is a note that only Myles can hit. You can even watch Mark look at him and give a little smile and nod after that note. Also, this song is a back and forth dialogue between Myles and Mark, about mark trying to convince Myles about his Christian faith.

I was at the Indianapolis show in February and have that version of Blackbird on my channel ;) I was very surprised they still took the time to play it with a new record to promote and so much other catalog choices.
I've seen Alter Bridge in concert a few times and they kill it when they're on stage. Myles's vocal range is amazing. You should definitely react to more of their songs!!!

I have seen alter bridge about 5 times live and every time we see them i get as excited about it as i did the first time. They are one of my favorites live and thats saying something. ive been blessed enough to get to see many bands live from dream theater to porcupine tree. I consider dream theater and porcupine tree to be the best live bands but alter bridge is the only one to get me super excited every time.

I saw these live many years ago when they released their first album and I was as awe inspired now as I was back then. Myles is just angelic. No better Male rock singer than him.

Mark sang the chorus to Creed’s ‘My Own Prison’. Besides that, ‘Words Darker Than Their Wings’ was the first time we ever got to hear him sing lead in a song; even before his first solo record came out. That’s why it’s such a special song. Fans of these musicians, going all the way back to the Creed days, wanted to hear Mark sing.
