It was my number one on my bucket list hearing them with my own ears live doing your gonna go far kid. And when they started the latest tour (I am from isreal) they didn't planed on going to my home country so I was planing on going to other country to see them. But I am a 16 years old teenaager with no money so that was not happening. And one they I woke up and the first thing I saw was the new concerte of the offspring, this time in Isreal. Needles to say I had a ticket less then 4 hours later and I was one of the first in line. It was the best time of my life and listening them doing my all time song was a dream comes tryr.😊
"I reach to the sky and call out your name. And if I could trade, I would." Simple straightforward lyrics, but they pack a hell of a punch. This song so is a great example of how their sound matured from their first album.
Lost the love of my life after almost 40 years together. Two hippies who fell in love together since ages 15 and 16. Grew up while raising children best guy ever gone ten years and still in love with him. Always will be. Watching him fade and die was horrible . Can’t really put it into words that fit. Miss him every day. Felt like half of me left for heaven. Funniest, sweetest man I’ve ever known. It was a joy to love him. Still can’t figure out why two people who can’t stand each other get to live into their 90’s hating each other but we really dug each other and he got taken out at age 57. Still hurts. Thanks for the song and your reaction.
I'm not religious but I pray for you and hope you find happiness for as long as your alive. Ive been with my wife 13 years and could only imagine losing her. My deepest condolences
To an original hippie from a millennial hippie, I feel your pain, and I hope you can find peace and happiness. It's what he wants for you, always hold onto that.
Speaking from experience as someone who thrives on anger the reason people who hate or get angry live so long is because happiness is the ultimate goal. There's a reason people say " I could die happy" being happy is what everyone wants. So when you're driven by anger you're not giving up on fighting the world which pushes us forward and keeps us going.
The line "If I could trade, I would" breaks me every damn time. I've said it so many times, about pain, and death alike. It's such a relatable sentiment

Never confirmed by Dex, not something people ask as he doesn't like talking about, was just sharing the wikipedia which I know is not always accurate.
The Offspring were one of the first bands I got into that were “weird”. I was bullied horrendously in school because I was a “weirdo,” “moshed,” “freak,” “greb.” Etc etc. When to Columbine school shooting happened being alternative was seen as “wrong,” “dangerous,” “shameful.” I’m from the UK but even over here I felt that. The teachers seemed to think it was okay that I was a target because I didn’t fit into their norm. ‘Smash’ and ‘Ixnay on the Hombre’ were incredible albums for the outsider. They affirmed that being different was okay. The Offspring got me through some tough times and I’m forever grateful.🤘🏻❤️
Huh, you just highlighted something for me that I never connected before. Columbine had such a huge international effect, but i never made the connection that it highlighted the outcasts in that way...
Never knew it affect other countries overseas. That's just so sad. Sorry to hear that. I was just graduating that year when Columbine happened. So, I was able to avoid the new era of mass shootings of children in schools. But now I have children of my own, so it pains me and touches me in a way I never had to think about before having kids.
@@TheJamator I used to wear a black trench coat to school. I remember a few days after the shooting my new head of year came into class and asked my form tutor “do we need to be worried about her?” He talked about me like I wasn’t even there and couldn’t hear him. It was horrendous. All the other kids thought it was hilarious. Another stick to beat me with. Even the teachers thought I was dangerous just because I was different. Looking back I should probably be grateful. I developed a thick skin. A high school experience like that taught me inner strength.
@@SherriLyle80s yeah, I was in 6th form so not far off from leaving school. I was born in 81. It was a weird time to be different. Since then the whole Emo culture seems to have made being alternative “cool.”

The emotions are still fresh and this song evokes exactly what I feel on a daily basis. The road is long but I'm going to have to travel it.

I had a friend of mine who I cared very much for die years ago. About a year later I discovered this song in my phone's MP3 files and I never downloaded it and had no idea where it came from. I had heard of The Offspring but never listened to any of their songs. So I decided to listen to it instead of just deleting it. Upon listening to it I had this feeling wash over me that it was somehow from her. Like it was a message to me because I could almost feel her there with me. I still feel her presence from time to time. Especially when I'm in emotional pain. The song used to bring me pain because of losing her but now it's one I enjoy because it's a way to bring me closer to her and that brings me comfort.
This one hurt. Brought back memories of my mom who lost her battle due to cancer. Not ashamed to admit I cried though the entire review. Lost her a little over 2 years and it still hurts. Bit it's been getting better one day at a time. Love and miss u mom. "If I could trade, I would."
This song makes me cry everytime I listen to it. I have lost several relatives, a brother, a cousin, an aunt and most recently my father, all in a short time, literally months apart. This song speaks volumes about how I felt losing these people, and yes the world is definitely colder without them 💔 it makes me appreciate all the people who are still here because they wont be here forever....
This was one of those songs that I was listening to a TON after my brother died a few years ago. When he and his wife passed away suddenly, we had to pick up the pieces, and eventually sort through their things. My sister and I found this song on one of his playlists, and I still jam out to it all the time. It’s hard sometimes, because it makes me a little emotional because, but I think it honors his memory, and it reminds me of his laugh and smile. They say everyone dies twice. Once when your life ends, and again when someone thinks about you for the last time. So, this song certainly keeps him alive.
I feel you, man. Favorite song of a dear lady friend of mine, and I mean looping for HOURS. Got killed in a hit-and-run accident three days before officially finishing school . Somebody just literally wiped her off her bicycle and off the street. Never caught the guy. Almost 20 years later, I still get a lump in my throat when that song comes up. Miss you, girl. Might still be a few decades, but we'll meet again.
It is one of the band's signature hits. One about life and death, and remembering/honoring those who left this world. There is also a piano version of this.
My father-in-law passed away last year after fighting 3 years against lung cancer. When he passed away my wife was so devastated, even though we knew all along that there were any other ending, and I felt myself so helpless seeing her in such pain and couldn't be able to take it away from her. At the time this song and particularly that "and if I could trade, I would"- part hit me so hard it broke me to tears every time I listened to it.
My favorite Offspring song of all time is “The Meaning of Life.” One of their older ( relatively ) songs with a harder edge. I also really like “All I Want”. Both are worth a listen.
No one ever mentions the older stuff. Lol in one of his reactions to The Offspring I mentioned 'kick him when hes down" from Ignition and 'beheaded' from the first self named album.
Love that you're doing a deep dive into The Offspring. Another really intense song, lyrically, by them is "Kristy, Are You Doing Okay?" They are still one of my all time favorite bands. Because they can go from intense punk to really silly to really deep just on one single album.
"The End of The Line" lyrics hit me the hardest. "You can't take back, the one mistake. That still lives on after life it takes. In that one day, that changed our lives. And bitter memories are left behind".
The "Whoas" in that song actually sound haunting, like a painful scream from the other side of existence. Sounds cheesy but I'm not even joking. That song gives me fuxkin chills everytime
one of my favorite tracks from them, but it hits right in the feels of anyone who has ever lost someone they loved. Emotionally brutal and sonicly beautiful, ...i miss you mom.
If I hadn't been listening to the offspring since I was like 5 because of my dad this song would hit way harder. My mom had a really bad stroke and was officially dead for a few minutes. When she came back she had forgotten everything and everyone while we were not close it still hurt to know that she had no idea who I was. I cant reach out to her now because she knows she has a son but she doesn't know that her 9-year-old boy she somewhat knew is now 23. The song that made a strong resonance with me was alter bridge's wonderful life, because when I was 16 I lost a friend so close to me that I loved and I was with her when she died. So for anyone going through some shit I hope music can help you heal and keep you going stay strong and happy holidays.
This is one of my absolute favourite Offspring songs. More Offspring to react to (Other than the songs everyone else has reacted to) and in no particular order: - I Choose - Want you bad - Me & My Old Lady - All I Want - Living in chaos - Dirty Magic - Come out and play
lost my girlfriend 11 years ago been single ever since. some days i just feel like giving up, but i know she wouldnt want me to. she was 39 and died from a brain hemmorage. one day there next gone.
I can't even imagine I've been single my entire 23 years of life never even gone on a date before, so I honestly have no idea what that kind of relationship is like. I'm sorry you had to go through something like that.
This song brings me to the verge of tears every time i hear it. Was listening to Offspring a lot when two close family members passed within a year of each other. Song always bring those good memories of them back. I miss them.
Really glad to see The Offspring getting some well deserved love. Definitely up high on the list of one of my favorite "90s" bands. Now you need something a bit less heavy. Pretty Fly for a White Guy will put a smile on your face. Totally different vibe than this.
It’s not just technical proficiency that makes The Offspring great. For example, in this song, Dexter Holland really puts his heart and soul into singing the lyrics and it comes through.
React to “The Show Must Go On” By “Queen” At the time of the recording Freddie Mercury was deathly ill with AIDS. Bryan May wrote the song and asked him if he should lower the key Freddie Mercury responded with “F*ck it darling I’ll do it” Then he took a shot of vodka and did the vocals in one take
@@equipbasicsword Both actually. But if I had to choose Alex to react to only one of these it would be Innuendo. SMGO is my all time fav Queen song but seeing reaction to Innuendo would be awesome.
The great thing about The Offspring is that they're really good at concealing freaking dark and sad lyrics with the most upbeat and bitching music. I'm not a punk rock enthusiast, but I've been listening to these guys since the mid-90s and I really love their music. Great lyrics with great sound, what else could you want? Cheers from Argentina!
@@robertdills5071 man I am sorry you had to go through that. I went many years without seeing my mother, but when I was with her she had abusive partners who became my stepdads one after the other. The song makes me thankful for my father, but I still resonate with it having to go through what I went through with my mom, and how she didn’t even want my brother. She makes an effort now, and things are different, but still not the relationship it could have been all my life.
Man, I had a happy childhood with a great dad who did everything he could for me growing up, and that one *still* hurts me to listen to. I can't even imagine how people who didn't have that feel when they hear it.
One thing that distinguish The Offspring from other bands are their uniqueness. You can immediately recognize their sound without even knowing the song. My first CD ever purchased was Americana at the age of 9. Very special. Fell in love with this song after my dad passed and appears on almost every Playlist I make...
This song hits home for so many reasons. I had a friend when i was 17 that passed away due to a cancer she never knew she had. This song reminds me of her everytime i hear it. I fucking love this song and think it's one of their best.
I consider this “Nick’s Song!” The album this song is on “Ixnay on the Hombre” came out four months before he killed himself. He was an amazing musician and an even better friend. I always choke up and cry when I hear this song, even twenty three years later. RIP Nick!
Hey Alex, I am a huge The Offspring fan! This song has helped me through a lot of heartache. I even learnt to play the song on guitar. I can play almost all of The Offsprings stuff except their new albums, though there is still that ending part to The Kids Aren't Alright. I dedicate this song to my Uncle and Aunt that passed away 4 days apart from each other in June 2021. My Aunt had the Rona and my Uncle had to say goodbye, the Saturday before father's day. On father's day, just after I had called to wish my Uncle happy father's day, my Uncle passed from a heart attack from seeing my Aunt so sick, then the Thursday after my Aunt passed. My Uncle was my Hero. You saw the photos I emailed you... I should have left the world on 20 January 2015 in that car accident I was in. My Uncle and Aunt were so in love and so happy. I miss them... Father's day is ruined.
This song hits hard. The Offspring was my stepson's favorite band. We lost him at the age of 16 four years ago on the 15th of this month. My husband and I still have difficulty listening to some songs, but this one in particular. Thanks for the reaction to this song 🖤
Omg. Thank you for reacting to this song. He's right, that pain never goes away. I lost my only sister in March 2020, then my only brother in law Dec. 29, 2020 both due to COVID..so suddenly.. it feels as though someone reaches into your soul and rips it to shreds. Sharing your musical journeys has helped more than you will know. Keep being you and the world will shine a bit brighter each day.
This band is perhaps the most innovative rock bands of the 90's and 2000's, and for reasons I cant figure out they haven't received the recognition they deserve. They are masters of their craft on many levels.
Thank you for discovering this song. It has meant so much to me since it I heard after friend died in a boating accident in 1997 as a freshman in high school. Only a short time after hearing the news this song was on the radio. It was so uncanny and on point for how I felt. This song has been there to channel my feelings through others passing including my mother 5 years ago. Seeing Dexter and The Offspring play this live in all its variations is so powerful... Especially the slower piano version. Thanks again for showing this song to a new generation.
My first favourite band when I was a kid. Listened to this the night of my grandad's funeral. Don't listen to them much these days but it's good to go back
I have loved this song since the first time i heard it, it's raw emotion is brutal if you are not tearing up within 30 seconds then you have never lost pure love.
Hello Alex. I'm from Brazil and recently find out the songs of Offspring and share it with my nine years old nephew. Songs extremely powerful and your reaction was the same I had some time ago: feel the pain in my chest. Congratulations for your videos about this amazing band.
This song encapsulates the feeling of loss. When you want to trade all the pain just to have them back. My soul mate was a dog named Molly, for five years she saved my life. I've felt with schizophrenia since I was 15. The most peaceful part of my life was when she came into it. She knew when I was getting bad and gave me something to love and remind me I was needed. My heart broke when she died.
@@adamdyson3977 I disagree also it's called personal opinion... Ivan Moody is a powerful singer , take a look at songs like Wrong side of Heaven and coming down... theses songs lyrically are very powerful and sad makes me tear up , but also theses songs, saved my life. in regards to Five Finger death punch's cover of "Gone away" they are both good ,
You can see his pain In this music video.... I get so many people telling me "oh my god five finger death punch is so much more better than Offsprings version," my response " watch the music video, dexter holland looks like hes having a meltdown and it's way more sad than listening to five fingers death punch cover"
Alex I can’t remember if you reacted to FFDP version of gone away? But it’s amazing how you can take the same lyrics and come out with a different point of view of the song based on the video content.
This song has meant so much to me for so long, and it still has the ability to tug at my heart-string while bringing me to the verge of tears. You said it just right, It Hurts So Good! It has helped to pull me through the losses of both my Cousin/Brother/Best Friend & my Younger Brother. Grief can be a Strong Emotion & this song has always been one to help pull me through without dishonor & regret! Thank You for reviewing such a great song, the Offspring Kicks Ass!

Love that you're doing a deep dive into The Offspring. Another really intense song, lyrically, by them is "Kristy, Are You Doing Okay?" They are still one of my all time favorite bands. Because they can go from intense punk to really silly to really deep just on one single album.
I love the Offspring, definitely one of my favorite bands of all time! 🤘😝
Alex: "Without further ado..."
Also Alex: "Btw have you heard of Raid Shadow Legends?"
You're gonna go far, kid, NEXT
*gonna
but yes this one of their best songs

“Kristy are you doing Okay” is an amazing song by Dexter and the boys. Highly recommended. You won’t regret it.
Yes please do this song! Its a song many people need to hear for sure!
I recommended this one, also. Really think he'll like it.
Hope you and Sarah had a good Christmas Alex!
We've all appreciated the content over this fucked up 2020, hope we all have a better 2021!
Absolutely one of my all time favorite Offspring songs. Such a great song.
According to the Internet, Dexter wrote the song about his girlfriend, who died in a car accident. Brings it to a whole other level...😭

Hands down my favorite Offspring song 😍
FFDP did it better...Im joking
@@trumphatesyou bruh... lol
"Anywhere but here" by Sick Puppies has a very strong message like this. Please Consider hearing this song.
I'm glad you can't fathom the pain. It's so hard.
one of my favorite tracks from them, but it hits right in the feels of anyone who has ever lost someone they loved.
More Offspring to react to (Other than the songs everyone else has reacted to) and in no particular order:
- I Choose
- Want you bad
- Me & My Old Lady
- All I Want
- Living in chaos
- Dirty Magic
- Come out and play
Dirty Magic is my favorite song by them. I like the original and I love the updated version.
Bad Habit I would add
lost my girlfriend 11 years ago been single ever since. some days i just feel like giving up, but i know she wouldnt want me to. she was 39 and died from a brain hemmorage. one day there next gone.
I lost my wife 6 months ago from a pulmonary embolism. She was 43. I feel your pain and have had the same thoughts.
@@JP_Flys Just wanted to say that I'm sorry, and I'll be thinking of both yours and Andrews partners this evening.
@@CitYosh Its been very difficult but music and a few very close friends have seen me through to this point.
I truly understand. Lost my husband 8 yrs ago suddenly from meningitis!!! I want nobody else!!
I can't even imagine I've been single my entire 23 years of life never even gone on a date before, so I honestly have no idea what that kind of relationship is like. I'm sorry you had to go through something like that.
Love this song, the weight behind it... it touched me when I heard it. And it still holds a special place in my heart
This song brings me to the verge of tears every time i hear it. Was listening to Offspring a lot when two close family members passed within a year of each other. Song always bring those good memories of them back. I miss them.
I literally get goosebumps the moment Dexter starts singing in this song. This song has helped me through so many losses
Me too Carla~
Really glad to see The Offspring getting some well deserved love. Definitely up high on the list of one of my favorite "90s" bands. Now you need something a bit less heavy. Pretty Fly for a White Guy will put a smile on your face. Totally different vibe than this.
Offspring : Pretty fly for a white guy. 😃
It’s not just technical proficiency that makes The Offspring great. For example, in this song, Dexter Holland really puts his heart and soul into singing the lyrics and it comes through.
React to “The Show Must Go On”
By “Queen”
At the time of the recording Freddie Mercury was deathly ill with AIDS.
Bryan May wrote the song and asked him if he should lower the key
Freddie Mercury responded with “F*ck it darling I’ll do it”
Then he took a shot of vodka and did the vocals in one take
Innuendo, my dude. Innuendo.
That man was an absolute legend and will forever be a national treasure
Y'all remember the Tribute concert for Freddie Mercury? I do. And have it on VHS recorded on the day.
@@equipbasicsword Both actually. But if I had to choose Alex to react to only one of these it would be Innuendo. SMGO is my all time fav Queen song but seeing reaction to Innuendo would be awesome.
You're Gonna Go Far, Kid!
Heartbreaking, but one of my absolute favorites.👊🏻👌🏻
This one of those I found them but get in tears every freaking time...
I more relate to Falling. But i managed not to take my fall ....
The entire Smash album is legendary!
That's from ixnay btw
The piano version broke me, it's so great.
I lost my girlfriend when I was 14 and this song hit directly in my fk memories.
Greetings from Mexico.
Lo lamento bro, no me imagino lo que se debe sentir :(
@@ErikGalan ya tengo 23, las cosas pasan.
I think you would relate to “Father of Mine” by Everclear pretty well. It’s a great song, worth reacting to!
Don’t kill the man damn.
yeah that song got me thru life havent seen my father since i was 10 im 44 now
@@robertdills5071 man I am sorry you had to go through that.
Meaning of life is such a great song, als react to it, you won't be disapointed
One thing that distinguish The Offspring from other bands are their uniqueness. You can immediately recognize their sound without even knowing the song. My first CD ever purchased was Americana at the age of 9. Very special. Fell in love with this song after my dad passed and appears on almost every Playlist I make...
This song hits home for so many reasons. I had a friend when i was 17 that passed away due to a cancer she never knew she had. This song reminds me of her everytime i hear it. I fucking love this song and think it's one of their best.
"Defy You" - The Offspring. It will not disappoint.
Great Choice! Also L.A.P.D
I consider this “Nick’s Song!” The album this song is on “Ixnay on the Hombre” came out four months before he killed himself. He was an amazing musician and an even better friend. I always choke up and cry when I hear this song, even twenty three years later. RIP Nick!
the offspring...that "Smash" album surely was enjoyable when it came out when i was a teenager!!
yeah man, Smash was an awesome album
@@trouserferrets indeed dude!!
Still is
So was their first album.

Yes. Can't Repeat is one of thier best for sure
@@lisandroxiii5031 they did good putting it as the first track of their greatest hits.

This should have been a cover vs original video.
Five Finger Death Punch did a cover of this song. It's actually really good too.
Cant believe this was relesed more than 20 years ago and ive never heard it before,
brilliant .. had cold shivers
I think you’re ready for “Bro Hymn” by Pennywise.
I second this
Songs that brings tear to your eyes
I love this song!!
Or "Same old story" ...
Gotta be done!
Alex if you like this version you'll really love the five finger death punch version I highly recommend it
No. They completely butchered the song
I think it's way better. In my opinion it's better than the offsprings version. Ivan's voice is much better. Although I do like the original too
Wrong.
@@eric8604 Out if curiosity, what about the FFDP cover do you feel is so butchered?
I mean I think the FFDP song is way more powerful sounding. As someone who likes heavier music I prefer that one. Although the original is good.
I love playing this song on my Bass in the video game Rocksmith!!
The Offspring " why Don't You Get A Job"
L.A.P.D.
I checked out this song after I heard that lazy cover from FFDP. This version is so much better and way more emotional.
FFDP are pricks for covering this
@@Stepea-vg4zk Most of their covers aren't great, but this one was a straight up insult to the original.
The offspring Pretty Fly
My first favourite band when I was a kid. Listened to this the night of my grandad's funeral. Don't listen to them much these days but it's good to go back
I have loved this song since the first time i heard it, it's raw emotion is brutal if you are not tearing up within 30 seconds then you have never lost pure love.
Another incredible song about grief is Clapton's "Tears in Heaven", about the death of his son who fell out the window of the 53rd floor.
That song brings me to tears every time I hear it ... beautiful and heartbreaking
Need to do "Why don't you get a job". It is a fantastic song by the offspring.
After such a heartbreaking song you should have a great time with One Fine Day or All I Want
Shortly after my dad passed this song came on the radio , it captured the grief poetically
This song means so much to me. After losing my Mum this song has really helped with releasing pain and grief
The Offspring Pretty fly for a White Guy.
Come Out & Play is a fun Offspring song.
Words as weapons, plastic man, tied my hands, driven under, and never leave

The pretty reckless - 25
Strong contender for the next James Bond song
Omg yes The Pretty Reckless is up there with my favorite band Offspring... 25 is so fucking amazing!
Yes! Love this song.
I haven't heard that song yet, so I'll have to check it out, but The Pretty Reckless is awesome.
I love this song so much, the Five Finger Death Punch cover of this is pretty amazing too. The video for that cover is depressing.
thats a terrible cover imho. its so flat, issac just sounds bored singing it.
I love both also, true art
@@adamdyson3977 you mean Ivan? Not Issac
5FDP's cover isn't bad, but I think they should've kept the original pace with Ivan doing harder vocals instead of making it into a ballad.
Im with you bro..100 x
Absolutely agree. Hell, you don't even need to watch the video to realize that. It's all in the song itself.
@@bobthebear1246 yep definitely!!
Ivan did it well, but it just doesn't compare to Dexter.
Alex I can’t remember if you reacted to FFDP version of gone away? But it’s amazing how you can take the same lyrics and come out with a different point of view of the song based on the video content.
Offspring version's better
emPtysp4ce way better
This song has meant so much to me for so long, and it still has the ability to tug at my heart-string while bringing me to the verge of tears. You said it just right, It Hurts So Good!
