The joy in Tremonti's face when Myles hits the note is mad bro love. One of those performances ya cant help but rewatch the last minute of a hundred times.
I've had the utmost pleasure in meeting and talking with Myles and Mark more than once. Class. Pure class. The talent of both men is off the charts. The authentic nature and grass roots friendliness is what separates them from so many others.
Met Myles at a meet and greet. I asked him how his voice seems to get better as he gets older, when aging singers seem to go the opposite direction. His answer was that he trains with Freddie Mercury’s former vocal coach. Myles is the 🐐
I was there in the Royal Albert Hall for this performance and goosebumps from start to finish. The audience were waiting in anticipation through the whole song for Myles to hit the high note at the end, everyone went mental when it finally happened. They cut short the length of the applause in the recording, the audience wouldn’t stop clapping. What a memory.
I love AB and always have but, to be fair all around, this was a two day event. I am positive this song was done early on day two. But it still is amazing to hit that note live, him knowing and acknowledging that he never wanted to do this song live, until this event. Had to be a huge relief for him when he did it lol
After a short research I can say they played it that late in the set on both days There are enough websites where you can see the actual setlists from both concerts
Alter Bridge is so incredibly good. The lyrics, the compositions, the artistry... extremely underrated. It legitimately angers me that they don't get enough appreciation and recognition
Amen to that. More fame would mean larger venues and higher prices I always see it like nature is giving them to us saying "here you go The best band in the world and everyone can afford to go to their concerts" 😅
I want to point out that Myles Kennedy is in his fifties and nobody is having the typical "can he still do the high notes" talks they have with other rock vocalists. The guy is a machine. Tremonti has obviously been taking lessons from a professional, if it isn't Myles. He's not going to fade either. This band is amazing!
@@archibaldsalyards926 Not Not this performance…. It was the recorded Wembley performance a few years earlier that he was fighting some kind of throat/sinus issue. Still killed it then too - but not like this!
He has a solid vocal technique, knows what he needs to do to keep his voice working well, and with that basis, there should be no reason why he cannot keep singing up to his standard into old age, in most cases. For a singer with sound technique, singing well at 50 or 60 should be no problem. Even better, because by then with all the experience you‘ve gone through in all the years of touring and recording, you know your instrument so well.
I thought you were spot on when you said "it feels like theres really good conversation between friends that have so much respect for each other". 💯 that is so true
The last seconds of this song are so great! Myles Kennedy hitting and holding that epic high note live, without wavering or cracking his voice was just the icing on the cake of an excellent performance! Also, Mark Tremonti’s look over at Myles in obvious awe was also priceless! He just looked so proud and probably thinking of how fantastic it is and how fortunate he is to have such an excellent vocalist in his band!💪

Their voices together are like guitar chords - Tremonti is a low note chord base, Miles goes around with melody and everything on top. Also... Bassist is doing hell of a job!

Loved the build up to "the note" as you got more and more excited and yet we all knew what was coming :). Great reaction of one of the greatest live performances ever.
I love the fact that Mark Tramonti knows to stay in is range comfortably. Too many singers push to their very limits when they start out and they disappoint live.
Well, Tremonti has been the vocalist of his own metal band for a while too. Its a bit like the Todd Kerns situation on Slash's stuff where he is a vocalist himself on his own stuff and only did a couple songs live on slash's tour.

Unfortunately I could only watch it from my computer, and when I was finally able to find a full version to download, I watched it on repeat non-stop. Such an amazing concert, and such a great video. Congrats
I was there that night and the way the crowd erupted when Myles hit that note was crazy. Was such an incredible experience to witness and easily the best alterbridge show I have had the pleasure of experiencing live
My god. So lucky that you were there. Sadly, I'd never heard of them back then - wish I had! I would have loved to have been there, hard to imagine a better night.
One of the most EPIC performances of a rock band in history and two of the best rock singers in the business. Alter Bridge has been my FAVORITE band since I heard them in 2004 and I never get enough of them. ALTER BRIDGE FOR LIFE!!!
I was really hoping she was gonna fully crack the code - she was so close...they treat it like there are three vocalists and they push their harmonies appropriately. That first bit in the chorus where that half or quarter tone pops out, it's being pushed from the bottom - Myles stays static and gets out of the way while Mark pushes their third player up from the bottom. Mark does the same in a few more bars - Mark drops down and Myles puts the secondary tones into a push to pop out their mystery friend again. I did a few years in a barbershop quartet chasing overtones so this one kind of stood out to me. They've been working together so long, they both get out of not only each other's way but out of the way of the thing they're creating, which is even MORE rare.
I’ve been a guitar player for 26 years and I’m jealous that Myles has more control over his voice more than my own life…. lol the guy ALWAYS brings the best surprises.
If I'm not mistaken, a high G in belt from a dude is supper impressive. I love this band so much. If they are not first ballet when they are eligible for the RnR Hall OF in 2029 I will riot.
If you ever get a chance to go see these guys live, absolutely go for it - I got to see them live for the first time a couple months ago and they were absolutely incredible!
For sure, in the chorus, you'll notice if you listen to this as often as i have lol, that Myles stays on his line... the overtone in "into the light may you fall," (the first time) Mark is the one that goes UP in his harmony... Then .. on the second time when they sing "Into the light may you KNOW" ... ON the work, 'KNOW' -- Mark GOES DOWN, so that he can match the harmony with Myles in the "Truth alone" lyric, where they have a little bit of matching vocal acrobatics ... truely a master class of harmony ... and not easy to replicate... it took me a few tries to get mark's part right without "searching" for the right note. love it. and interesting note... what made this performance so special, was that they never played this song live because of what occurs at the end. Myles had a lot of trepidation about not being able to hold the note like he did on the record... but the band finally persuaded him to do it for this performance.... HE DID NOT DISAPPOINT. AND Mark's look for total pride in myles, with that smirk after the note.. is gold. almost like he was thinking "I knew he could do it all along!"
Here in the states its one reason and only one reason: Creed. Even currently there's a Creed renaissance going on. Since the three guys can't let it go after forming AB, this is the result. Didn't help either that the labels they had didn't promote much for the first two Alter Bridge albums, then having to make there own afterwards. A real shame. But I'm with you 100% as a AB fan since '06.
Brilliant analysis as always! I was privileged enough to have been at this concert and to this day, this is still the best event I've ever attended and probably will ever attend!
Music brings all kinds of emotions...but when I listen to these guys, the sheer musical and vocal beauty of so many of their songs always brings tears rolling down my face...Alterbridge are just a class of their own..hope they come to Australia as they are my very favourites. I will be that person with random tears rolling unbidden, but probably not alone❤😂
It's the great skill of an experienced harmony vocalist to match with the other vocalist as much as possible, so far as timbre and intonation goes. These guys sing so well and so sympathetically with each other.
So glad you finally had the opportunity to watch this. Your thought that it was a conversation between to men who deeply respect one another....that's exactly what it was. The song was written following a conversation between Mark and Miles about their beliefs, and they turned that discussion into this masterpiece of a song. With the orchestra behind them, it's magical.
This is such a special song for me, not only is this such a rare performance but I was there on the Sunday night at the RAH, with my son and some good friends! One of those magical evenings that will stay with me forever. When they played WDTTW, the audience just erupted, no other word suffices. The cheers at the conclusion of the song seemed to last forever. My son and I still get chills every time we listen to this. Thanks for reacting to this, I now need to listen to the entire concert again!
Buy the blu-ray, about $30 and you'll always have the concert you went to. I own the blu-ray and I bring it out now and then. Not gonna lie but I'm a bit jealous cause you were there.
Once again, I learn of a great artist and learn plenty about them here on this channel. I encourage everyone to step out of their safe, comfortable bubble to learn about new artists. No doubt you will find new favorites.
I think Myles talks about it right before they start, how he likes the song but hates it too because that high note is so difficult and he felt he’d never be able to do it live.
@@nightsgrow6575 Myles didn't single out the high note as solely why he was apprehensive in performing it. He's a perfectionist by nature (I suffer the same personality trait...it is rewarding and a curse simultaneously). It was the totality of getting so many nuances and timing down, especially since it's a duet and an orchestra behind it. To add to his anxiety, they had never performed it live, so no real world practice with crowd reaction performing it...and so to do it the first time, for THIS concert...he had a ton of anxiety prepping for it. At the sound checks for this show, he kept complaining it wasn't ready yet. Mark kept reassuring him it was good.
Stay, off their new album is mostly Mark. They’ve been playing that on tour as well. Mark has been doing the singing on Burn It Down during the tour as well. So it’s happening. Mark’s voice has come a long way, so I’m glad it’s being used more in AB!
omg!! Finally!! The reaction we were waiting for! ❤❤❤ I love Alter Bridge! And Myles is one of the greatest singers ever. He's amazing. Tremonti is amazing too. Their voices match perfectly!
I've said for years that Myles has the best voice in Rock music today... but man, Mark's voice is damn good too. And only has got better since the Sinatra project.
Listened to this song 100s of times and watched dozens of reactions but never came to appreciate it as much as when I watched your analysis to it. This is the reason why I'm always super excited whenever I see an Alter Bridge reaction from you! :))
I would say find a good acoustic version of Rise Today or Before Tomorrow Comes to suggest. There's some incredible footage out there if you sort through it.
Mark Tremonti is the reason I picked up a guitar for the first time more than 20 years ago. When he started singing I was blown away, and he’s one of my favourite singers now too. I just saw then for the first time in Boston in February and I was 15 feet away from the stage. Best night of my life.
I'm gonna say this now, as someone who absolutely loves Alter Bridge and tries their damndest to sing anything Myles Kennedy, this is one of the songs that'll show you whether or not you can sing like him. This, Blackbird, and Far and Away (Slash & Myles) are in that tier of skill/difficulty.
Everything about This is amazing. The orchestration and arrangement is just phenomenal. Tremonti is singing this incredible complimentary vocal that is staying underneath and behind Myles and in doing so is adding incredible depth to the performance.
I’m a huge fan of Alter Bridge, I hadn’t heard these 2 live versions and they are so incredible. I love how articulately you can interpret the technical aspect but are so excited and passionate about the emotion and heart that Myles exudes. Mark is also fantastic and an extraordinary guitarist. It’s a joy to watch you watch this and comment. Ty
"in loving memory" live in amsterdam is great! myle's voice is so sweet there and it's a very beautiful song that mark wrote for his late mother :,) in it you can see the friendship between myles and mark.
Myles is one of the most underrated vocalists of all time. His range is incredible. It makes me sad when people say Alter Bridge is just a "Creed" runoff. I'm also from the Idaho/Washington area Myles is from.
@@brentj.peterson6070 I mean... it's literally Creed with a different singer. And the original drummer, who left Creed for "reasons". The band was going to go this way with or without Scott Stapp. I get the feeling from reeding some of their old interviews that the band got along with Myles Kennedy from touring with him and his band. They probably had him in the back of their minds long before Creed split up.
There are few songs, and this is one of them, that are such a glorious and beautiful journey through a soundscape of audible joy and emotion all at the same time..
Myles stole the show once again. I remember the reaction to Disturbed covering The sound of silence with Myles on the backing vocals and even then Elizabeth commented his vocals more. That's why I like her 😂
I'm so happy I got to see them live for the first time this past month! Alter Bridge is easily one of my favorite bands ever. Myles is one of the best singers of our time I believe. Mark and Myles are just such nice people too. I think it's funny they both consider themselves guitar players first but they are both so incredibly talented beyond just the guitar.
Yesss!! I love this song so much for its magnificent build up, and it was a joy to feel that in this video anticipating your reaction to the end! If Alter Bridge never plays this song live again, they at least 100% knocked it out of the park with this one 🥲
Just saw them on their current tour and Myles and Mark were in TOP form. Mark got the spotlight for a song on "Burn It Down" and it was flawless. Truly one of the top hard rock acts out there today - both vocally and instrumentally. The other thing I noticed was that their sound system was one of the best I have ever heard and the mix was perfection. You never lost the vocals in the mix and everything instrumentally was right up front. One of the better live shows I have ever seen. Unfortunately they did not do this song, but they have rarely performed this live (if ever) other than this performance from the Royal Albert Hall.
Finally! What a majestic song, i wish i could experience it for the first time, listening to some songs can make you cry because it makes you fear the day you will only hear silence and never know its beauty again, to me this is one those songs ♡ Also "the air was shimmering" ahhh so well put, you put into words so perfectly what makes music so beautiful, thank you so much Liz!
I have been waiting for this one since I joined the channel! 😁 I was at this show and the standing ovation for Myles at the end of this song was incredible. Absolutely world class!
Makes me smile all the way through this video because you were saying Myles is so good... But I knew what was coming at the end 😁 one of the best vocalists of our time!
Finally! I’ve requested this in probably a hundred of your videos haha. Glad you got around to this epic song. I can’t wait to see how you react to the high note at the end, and the moment that Mark looks at him in awe and disbelief.
I love the backing vocals Mark provides in the performance. It adds so much to the already perfect melody Myles is singing. I'm currently taking singing lessons and studying Myles solo single "Love Can Only Heal" and man, it is so much more impressive to learn how good Myles actually is and how high his range expands. I'm so glad you analysed this performance ❤️
So glad you finally got to this one. I've been waiting for your reaction since I first saw this however long ago that was. lol I knew you'd absolutely LOVE it! I'm also a huge Myles Kennedy fan, and Alter Bridge as well. Myles, IMO, has one of the best voices in music today.

But I'm with you 100% as a AB fan since '06.
Brilliant analysis as always! I was privileged enough to have been at this concert and to this day, this is still the best event I've ever attended and probably will ever attend!
Hello from Brazil!! I just love your reactions! I love Myles voice, this video is amazing ♥
i absolutely love your commentary and expressions on these videos. Alter Bridge is the most under rated rock band ever.
this performance of this song is what really got me into alter bridge. absolutely incredible performance
Finally, more Alter Bridge! This made me very happy indeed. One of their legendary live performances!
I saw them for the first time a few nights ago. Incredible concert.
Just wow! I have never seen this performance before. What an amazing display!
This is one of my all time favorite songs from Alter Bridge. That’s saying a lot. I love every single song they’ve ever made.
No doubt you will find new favorites.
this whole concert was amazing!! if i remember right they had never performed this song live before until this gig.
I heard this version for the first time hearing this song, and IMMEDIATELY fell in love with it. I'd love to hear more Tremonti in their songs.
Stay, off their new album is mostly Mark. They’ve been playing that on tour as well. Mark has been doing the singing on Burn It Down during the tour as well. So it’s happening. Mark’s voice has come a long way, so I’m glad it’s being used more in AB!
Myles is featured on a Sevendust track, Sorrow. Those two together are amazing. Mark is on a track, but just on guitar.
omg!!
Yes!! Love this song. I’m waiting on the “Metalingus” and “Ties that bind” reactions. Definitely will blow you away ☺️🔥🔥🔥
I would say find a good acoustic version of Rise Today or Before Tomorrow Comes to suggest. There's some incredible footage out there if you sort through it.
Metalingus is such an amazing song.
@@brunocarbone1272 It Really is!
@@russellzauner Love rise today 💯
I still want to hear the demo versions of Alter Bridge’s first album that Mark sang for Myles to learn the melodies.
One of my favourite parts of that performance was Myles' preamble and introduction to the song.
Excellent video!
I was there on the first night, Myles got a standing ovation. Great performance.
When Myles sings. The hairs on my arm raise. You said enchanting, truly great description of his voice mixed with the music...Mark too draws you in ❤
Mark Tremonti is the reason I picked up a guitar for the first time more than 20 years ago. When he started singing I was blown away, and he’s one of my favourite singers now too.
I just saw then for the first time in Boston in February and I was 15 feet away from the stage. Best night of my life.
He’s always been a phenomenal artist, but his solo stuff has really brought all of that to light. And it’s only gotten better!
It was a blessing having Mark and Myles find eachother to create music. I have been a huge fan since their first release.
YES. Ive been hoping youd see this song for a long long time
I'm gonna say this now, as someone who absolutely loves Alter Bridge and tries their damndest to sing anything Myles Kennedy, this is one of the songs that'll show you whether or not you can sing like him.
This, Blackbird, and Far and Away (Slash & Myles) are in that tier of skill/difficulty.
Everything about
This is amazing. The orchestration and arrangement is just phenomenal. Tremonti is singing this incredible complimentary vocal that is staying underneath and behind Myles and in doing so is adding incredible depth to the performance.
I have been waiting so long for you to deep dive this, so so happy now
This is Just one of The best Live versions That i ever saw . This job of both lead singers is crazy , crazy really
Ty
The fact that I was looking for a video of you reacting to this just two days ago… and now it’s here.. is wild
True! Creed was a very good band. ALTER BRIDGE is a completely different band in every way. It's too bad people make a judgement before listening.
Also Alter Bridge is just better, pure gold
I loved Creed but they really don't compare to Alter Bridge or Tremonti
My coworker says that all the time…. Tell him he’s wrong but won’t listen lol
I ‘ve been waiting for this video for such a o long time … omg
Finally! What a majestic song, i wish i could experience it for the first time, listening to some songs can make you cry because it makes you fear the day you will only hear silence and never know its beauty again, to me this is one those songs ♡
Also "the air was shimmering" ahhh so well put, you put into words so perfectly what makes music so beautiful, thank you so much Liz!
Myles is in the top 3, if not the number ONE male vocalist in the past 50 years at /least/, in any genre. No one can change my mind.
Love the smiling satisfied "well done buddy" look of Mark when Myles hit the high note
I audibly gasped when I saw that you did a reaction to this performance. It was one I really hoped would come to your notice haha
