I was the conductor of the Parallax orchestra that night and I can tell you our reaction to Myles high note at the end was pretty much the same as yours. One of the best nights of my life. So proud to been involved.

A note to add about Myles is that he personally considers himself a guitarist 1st & a vocalist 2nd. Yet he is looked at globally as one of the most premier male rock vocalists of the current era. Wrap your brain around that. The man is just ridiculously talented...

No doubt. And I think it's safe to say that they are both not only great players but also great songwriters.
With the passing of the late great Chris Cornell, Myles now holds the top spot as my favorite current rock vocalist. And to be fair second is not even really that close to him.
Which is one of the reasons he doesn't suffer from LSD (Lead Singer Disease). That and he's just generally a really good person. I have yet to hear a 'negative' story about him. And he works to save elephants. And he helps a foundation that helps get instruments and instruction to kids that can't afford it. And works and performs for other charitable organizations. BUT I have it on good authority that he kicks puppies, so there's that. j/k
I love that someone gives Mark Tremonti props for his voice. He's got a beautiful tone. Alter Bridge has such all around natural talent.
And he's grown so much. From Creed to his latest album, he sounds so much more in control.

The "other guy" is Mark Tremonti. As a guitarist myself (who sadly can't sing a lick) I appreciate him for being one of the few guys keeping the "guitar god" thing alive today. There sadly aren't many of them left.
Mark is a god! Great singer too.
I'm a musician, so I'm familiar with the inherent anxiety of getting on stage and performing, but I can't imagine being in Myles' position here. The crowd knows there's a 'big note,' he knows it, the band knows it...the pressure on singers to deliver in those moments has to be insane. I reckon it helps to just acknowledge it and have a laugh about it before the song starts, as he did here. And he sure did deliver! :0
He was thinking about it for sure, he grabs a different chord there for a moment a little bit before the the high note. At least he's a confirmed human after all.
Blackbird by Alter Bridge is one of my all time favorite songs. Miles is incredible.

Wonderful Life, Shed my Skin, Rise Today, Ties that Bind, Slip to the Void, Isolation, Addicted to Pain, Lover, Waters Rising. There are so many other amazing tracks, come on people, be different!

Brian Marshall is the bassist and he is incredible! One of the best as far as I'm concerned. (Steve Harris from Iron Maiden is my favorite tho!) Listen to more Alter Bridge! Best band on the planet! They are simply amazing!

I discovered Alter Bridge a couple of years ago. I showed up for Miles, but I stay for Mark. His voice adds such power to the harmonies, and I absolutely love when he takes the lead. They're both amazingly talented!

I knew he was good but I didn't realize he could go *that* high. I think I rewound that like 4 or 5 times....and as someone mentioned below, I love how giddy you got when he hit that. And if some of you are too young to remember, watch the end of the movie "Rockstar". That's all I can think about when I hear his name....lol.
He was supposed to be the new lead vocalist of velvet revolver with the original members of guns n roses but he remained loyal to his band. He's still playing with slash though..
And making good music
He was asked to audition for VR before the band formed and before Alter Bridge was even a thing. He declined because of bad experiences with The Mayfield Four and continued to be a guitar teacher. He then accepted the audition for Alter Bridge about a year later and the rest is history. 😁
@@joshuakirkman9691 i thought slash only met myles when he recorded his first solo album? The one with different singers on it, that's the time when he met myles Kennedy, he never met myles back in 2005-2008
@@kristoferramirez1966 yeah that's correct, it was Duff who suggested Myles for the last two songs. Myles was invited to audition for Velvet Revolver but never went. Their collaboration began with the first Slash collaboration album as you said. :)
Royal Albert Hall seems to be THE place to record live music. Every band that performs there just manages to push the limits of how good they can sound live. Magical place!
Myles Kennedy our lord and savior, try watching his work with Slash like Starlight live at rock am ring! The top note of that song is amazing as well.
And we can't forget his AMAZING hold near the end of "SummerGirl" from Mayfield Four.

Great! The other singer is Mark Tremonti, who also put out some solo records already. Killer guitarist.
I've just seen Myles Kennedy live with Slash a few days ago, and also with Alter Bridge twice before. He's always nailing it. And his guitar parts that he's playing at the same time aren't easy either. I'm just constantly amazed by musicians like him.

I'm just so tickled that you appreciate Mark's voice as well. He's always doubted his singing abilities until the last little while. And of course, Myles is just a vocal standard that all others are judged against. Can't beat them. I feel like a proud mama. :)
Welcome to Alter Bridge. I’ve been a fan since they came out. Myles is just incredible and Mark Tremonti, the other guy singing, is extremely talented as well. I’ve met them a long time ago and both are so humble.
Got there album as soon i heard open your eyes way back in Oct 2004. Loved them ever since.
having Myles Kennedy AND Mark Tremonti in the same band at this point is absolutely overwhelming. they might be the best tandem of all time, and i don’t think they’re gonna be fully appreciated until later.

Mark Tremonti (Lead Guitarist) is such a dark horse vocally. I prefer his more aggressive tone myself. He actually sings all of Waters Rising from the Foetress album. It is on their live Blu-ray as well. As others have mention you should check out his solo project Tremonti where he handles all vocals. Plus it is a heavier vibe than Alter bridge. In case you didn’t already know, Alter Bridge is basically three of the four members of Creed with a new singer.

He said in an interview that he doesn't sing this song at concerts because it kills his voice for a few days after that note. The guy is incredible.

I've seen Alter Bridge 2 years ago and it was amazing. This performance was flawless. It was great seeing your reaction on that high note. Myles Kennedy is one of the best vocalists of all time in my humble opinion.
I was there that night - I gotta say it was even more epic than can ever come across on the video. Myles was absolutely majestic. In fact, the sheer power of the band backed by a full orchestra was breathtaking.

Sorry, but for me Disturbed is overrated, Alter Bridge definitely underrated.
@@Eishocker Disturbed are not overrated, it's just that their version of The Sound Of Silence is very overplayed. They have plenty of very good material, such as Hold Onto Memories, Inside The Fire, Stricken, Prayer, and Indestructible, which are all originals. Disturbed also sound just like their albums live, which is something you can't say about many other bands.
Myles is otherworldly good. Alter Bridge is vastly underrated. Incredible talent all around.

I remember when I saw Myles Kennedy at the end of rockstar with mark whalberg his voice was unbelievable. After that is when heard about alter bridge and I had been hooked ever since.

The fact that Alter Bridge is compromised of three of the four members of Creed(guitarist Mark Tremonti, basist Brian Marshall, and drummer Scott Phillips) combined with the fact that Myles is just as unique and amazing a singer as Scott Stapp is is awesome!
Mark Tremonti is a great case study in itself. He knows his limits & stays lower. Listening to his solo work, he knows exactly what he can do.
Watched just for the reaction to Myles' high note. Was not disappointed. 😂👍🏻

I love the parts where they're singing together. Such talented men. Mark has grown vocally a lot since Creed. Really cool to see Myles seems to me like he's a natural talent. Frustrating for the rest of us
this complete show was very special, live at the royal Albert hall, with an full ochestra and songs they rarely play live with hits and songs from the latest album called the Last hero, als they are in the studios again to write a new album for a late 2019 early 2020 release. to me 1 of the best bands of the last 14 years, with a insane fanbase, and the band is very loyal to their fans, with meetings before shows. making sure all i well at avery stage.
I was at that gig, this song was so unreal and to be the among the first people to hear it live, for me as a true alter bridge fan, was one of the best experiences of live music iv been to. Iv seen a lot of live music and they are up there as the best performing bands around. Wish all you were there, it’s was out of this world :)

I've never heard of this band before, and I honestly didn't find anything too remarkable about their music, voices or song, buuuut, what I love the most about your videos is how much information you give as you break down vocal linguistics. I can't sing to save my life but gosh I'd love to work with you just to be able to get a better speaking voice. I love how detailed you are and how much attention you pay to specifics. Your breakdown of the voice and the mechanics is brilliant! I wish I lived in London. I may never sing, but I'll bet you could teach me so much about how to maximize my voice.
