Did anyone catch that the part of the first story with the tire where he said if the group doesn't work together including everyone speaking on the subject during the presentation then they all fail it? And how she wrote everyone a script to memorize and when she asked to go over it once they didn't show up or memorize it. She would have failed with them if she did the presentation with them. So she didn't just remove herself from the situation she also saved her grade. Good for her.
Yeah, I thought the same thing. A lot of group projects are all pass or all fail, not individual grades.
Professors like that are trash. In the real world, if someone doesn't do their job, you don't get fired, they do. The "you're adults" means absolutely nothing. You can't force someone to do their homework.
I'm glad she found a way around that
Heck yeah
Group projects like that are hard enough, add on top that you could do all the work and still fail because of your dumbass teammates, or do all the work and they get a grade they never deserved, and it makes it all so much worse. I've had a multiple year long friendship completely end because of a group project.
Like, I understand the importance of teamwork, especially in engineering where all my group projects were, but if the professor doesn't put any safeguards in place to ensure good teamwork is rewarded and bad teamwork isn't, then not only is the point not served, but the exact opposite is reinforced. The people who work the hardest and are happy to help get completely exploited and may still fail despite all their efforts, and the worst of the worst go on to be in positions that absolutely require that teamwork and are completely unable to meet the demands of their career.
The fact that the girls thought the first girl was “doing too much” is insane. They clearly don’t know how infuriating it is for MULTIPLE other people to ace a project while fully riding on your back. That girl was WELL in her right. Amazing. Love it. Wish I could’ve seen it for myself.
Also group projects are needed in university because the majority of people can’t work in groups and that’s all companies want when you’re working.
fr when she said that i got so mad
@@munschirlright! Group projects so that you can work with colleagues. It’s less about the content of the project it’s a test to know if you can work with people.
I had an advanced communications class called small group communication. The majority of the class was a group project. And guess what, I did everything. The professor picked the groups and it was obvious that he put high performers with low performers. He also said he wouldn’t mediate the groups at all. He’d help with our content, but not with our group dynamics. Thankfully we got to review our group members at the end and that was like a 1/3 of our grade. I did not hold back.
I took that to mean she did too much by wasting her own money and time on the plan, rather than it being too much for the others.
I've BEEN that person in a group school project. The one try-hard, actually giving-an-eff person in a group of "Screw this, I don't care"'s.
I would ABSOLUTELY have done what she did in the story, had I thought of it. They do not deserve to pass on my dime.
The first person didn’t really inconvenience themselves because they can actually return the tire.
Or keep it and use it later, she might eventually get a flat tire.
@@lopezcarmencecilia girlll or for that winter weather 🤣
Tbh more often then not I feel like their votes and opinions are way off. The disconnect to the actual story is insane. Are they not hearing it right? Those two guests were severely off the mark and gave me the ick pretty early on. I usually finish these videos but I opted to skip.
@@lopezcarmencecilia Yeah, having a spare tire is always a good idea. She should just keep it in her trunk, so she doesn't get stuck on the side of the road someday.
It’s still inconvenient to get up early to buy a tire. Also to then go out of your way to return it.
This is such a small thing but I love how when Olivia and Amanda are talking about how women are constantly being told to cover up and are being shamed, Shayne didn’t interrupt them or argue, he sat and listened and patiently waited for a chance to add his thoughts. Such a small thing to appreciate but I just wanted to say it
Compared to the people I know, I think Shayne genuinely loves his psychology degree. He pursued it even though he's already earning in the industry, and that's commendable. The podcast and Reddit series are proof of his open-mindedness.

I wonder why she is still in smosh. Washed up, unfunny, the "odd behaviour trope" has played off. I think she is dragging her heels until they decide to shut down. Not happy when she gets cast waste of a space for another member.
They will say "you guys are adults figure it out" like we have any power over our class mates. Teachers can control them because they have a position of authority, we are equals the only thing we can threaten is just letting us fail which they clearly don't care about either. That group really deserved what they got I can't stand people who won't pull their own weight, she went above and beyond to organize everything all they had to do was show up.
Yes! I'm glad you mentioned the professor because it's honestly a bit disrespectful to say that students can't email about slacking off. It's just not right. That professor would've been totally fine with that student doing all of the work as long as he didn't have to deal with the drama.
Isn’t the point of education to prepare people for their careers? In a job, if you’re working on a group project and someone isn’t doing *their job*, you report them to superiors. Superiors manage the conflict.
Unless you’re management, it’s not your job to manage your coworkers, so why does a professor think it makes sense for students to manage their fellow students?? He just doesn’t want to do his full job. If he doesn’t want to manage conflicts, he shouldn’t force group projects in the first place 🤦🏼♀️
@@MaryLoveJane, it's busy work and makes things easier for the teacher
You can assign class time for group discussions, which means the teacher can check their phone or read or whatever
Not have to lecture or facilitate discussion themselves
@@janeeyre1990 school, at all levels, is for EDUCATING not distracting/babysitting, but especially in adult education. Making up unnecessary assignments just to kill time is a huge part of what’s wrong with most public education systems.
And I’m pretty sure that doesn’t even apply to this scenario, it sounds more like a project they are working on outside of class for the most part.
I've had profs like that, "You're adults now! You deal with it!" Yeah, lots of college kids are sheltered and are STILL KIDS. If they've been riding diligent students their whole educational career what makes you think that suddenly becoming an "adult" will change them? You don't suddenly become a different person who properly communicates and pulls their own weight just because you pass an imaginary milestone into adulthood.
Profs don't want to mediate squabbling children, I get that, but hanging your good students out to dry like that is shitty behavior that just enforces the fact that once they get to the workplace that they will have no one to turn to, so they keep their heads down and don't "make waves" for others. Grit your teeth and bear it. People will step on you and you have to smile and offer to shine their shoes while they do.
The first story is a total hero. She's one spare tire richer and got the credit they deserved. Each class is hundreds of dollars. Especially if it's mandatory for your degree. 1000% worth it
In that first story she's totally a hero. Fuck those assholes that would have made her fail due to their selfish negligence. Genuinely omg she slayed
As the good student that was ALWAYS paired up with the slackers in class (teachers thought I'd motivate them or something, but really it just stressed me out to do a group level amount of work by myself well enough to maintain my 90+ average) that were always absent, suspended, and couldn't care leas about school. In college it was the same speech "you're adults, don't tell me about it" so I for real would've done the same thing, especially since I went to college before like Google docs and "shared" PowerPoints and stuff was a thing. Thankfully a lot of powerpoints we had our own slides to present and we'd get graded on our own projects. It's was NEVER a situation of people you didn't get along with, it was legit always the people flat out not doing ANYTHING but wanting to coast and get the "A" knowing the "A" student didn't want to get a bad grade. Pretty grad school was the only time that groups were AWESOME. Everyone had 3.5-4.0 GPAs they wanted to maintain AND they wanted to be there so we'd all divide the stuff evenly and collaborate and such.
I had this experience with my own friends. Very sweet girls for the most part, but they did *not* want to apply themselves on the assignment (I was generally one of the better students in the group). I didn't get revenge or anything, but I had kind of a nervous breakdown and snapped a little bit, like, 'ok, are we going to do the assignment or not?' kind of attitude. They responded to that like, 'ugh, alright, *fine*, I guess we'll try to not fail Science.'
I was also kind of at my wits' end already, cause I wasn't doing very well in Science, and wanted to take every opportunity to push my grade up. I did push it up in the second semester, with a chemistry project, all by *myself* because my friends all joined together and left me out (can't remember if they did it deliberately, probably not).
@@cranberryrosebud This is why when I was in college and was in group projects I would kinda gather the information on the entire project not just my portion just in case. It proved good in one class because all 3 of the folks I was grouped with dropped the class mid project. I would have had a nervous breakdown as well if I hadn't prepared for worse case scenario like this. Just cause people are supposed to be "grown ups" doesn't always mean they have the maturity to resolve things like grown ups should
Yeah I don’t get how they felt sympathy for the free loaders. Maybe bcz they didn’t participate in group projects themselves during college.
Massive props to Amanda for being the first person to kick her shoes off before putting her feet on the couch.
She's from the Northeast. In cold weather climates, shoes off in the house is a much more common thing. I live in Canada, the idea of people wearing their shoe in my house is gross lol
@@KS-xk2so I also live in Canada, we wear our shoes in the house. We just use the doormat and clean our floors. That said, no shoes on the furniture.
@@Lurklen Huh, never seen that here at all. What province, if you don't mind me asking?
@@KS-xk2so B.C. Lower Mainland
We just kind of keep them on, unless we're settled and not likely to need to wear them again. Everybody kind of keeps their shoes in their room (or they are supposed to, one of my brothers and one of my sisters have a habit of their shoes escaping and ending up under the table or in the living room). On and off we did shoes at the door, but I have a million siblings (actually just 9, some are adopted), and the front landing was never really conducive to them all getting their shoes on at the same time, or taking them off and on as they went in and out of the house like a horde of shrieking goblins.
You'd always have to go get your shoes from the little mountain of them, and then go back to where you had room to work to get them on without getting someone's elbow in your face, or go into the house to get them off, and toss them down into the pile while risking whoever was down there. So then we'd move the shoe spot further into the house, but then you're already inside and well past the door. And we don't live in a rural area, so keeping our shoes outside seemed odd. So it kind of just became something we didn't care about.
Now that I think about it, we're not the most typical when it comes to that (or a lot of things haha), so I wouldn't use us as an indicator of Provincial custom lol.
@@Lurklen Cool, yeah it may be more typical there. I'm an Ontario native, and everywhere I've been around here, its the norm, shoes off at the front door.

@@Bunny-ks1mddid anyone think of op returning the tire after purchase? I’m pretty sure you can do that since the tire wasn’t even used
I disagree with their take on the neighbors. For starters, these new neighbors chose violence in handling a new area when EVERYONE tried to let them know all intentions were friendly. At this point OP does not need these new neighbors; they're obviously surrounded by plenty of others they do get along with and have for help. The new neighbors are the odd ones out, who chose to be ignorant and aggressive towards everyone around them. They are the ones who need their neighbors and therefore are the only ones who should put forth any effort to mend what they broke.
YES
I totally understand that they were angry at first like a stranger is touching your car, that's scary. But after they were explaining, if they still didn't feel comfortable about it, they could've been nicer.
Though I disagree with them taking the high road and helping them. Those neighbors are entitled and prideful people because when she asked for help and he made a snarky comment, instead of just thinking fair or apologizing, she called him an asshole.
agreed so hard
Also, dude was just getting back from working an overnight shift. Taking the high road or whatever was probably his last priority.
Agreed, I see the take of being the bigger person, but in this case it just its just an excuse to not have any confrontation. Its not this family that will suffer in their relationship with the new neighbors, its the new neighbors who will suffer because they seem to be making a bad impression in the entire neighborhood.

I sometimes wonder if the truth is something closer to: while not all Canadians are nice, nice Canadians are some of the nicest of all the nice people. Just a hypothesis, though, and I only have anecdotal evidence for it (I've known some incredibly kind Canadians).

I would disagree, the main reason behind group projects is to teach people how to work together with different personalities. This is a very usfull life skill as you will often encounter all sorts of people through out your professional and personal life.
The amount of time and energy used to be petty could have be redirected.
The professor is going to be able to tell who knows more and most likely was the leader during the presentation.
Plus they could just return the tire after
@@DuperMate If this was in a company, I would fault management for not vetting good employees. Also, if one person in a group is absent during a team presentation and the whole presentation falls apart, there is something seriously wrong with the capability of remaining group members themselves. Working alongside someone who is jaded, coasting/underperforming, and does not care about nor want to do the work is demoralizing and this type of negativity can be contagious to other employees. IMO not a good employee.
I would agree with you if this was a difference in personalities, but this is a difference in work ethic and presence of drive imo.
I'd end up firing project manager who hired the team and the coasting team members, watch the OP to see if they can work in a team (amidst other hard working employees), then promote them, since they are one person who was capable of doing all the work that was assigned to multiple people, on time.
@@DuperMate yeah no, not happening, no one is freeriding anything on my expense and my mental health. I told my professor this muppet isn't doing anything and he removed the muppet and I did the work alone and he failed. If they dont want to do anything that's their problem, not mine. If this happens in your professional life when you eventually start working the same thing is reported but to my boss instead. I don't care what you have to say, you are objectively wrong. I will gladly take the leader role and motivate my group member if they show any sign of effort and that they want to contribute. I will make that work, I always do. But if there's no effort from them, then I'm not wasting my time on them anymore. Good bye.

as a hospitality worker im so shocked she doesn't know makes me think a lot of restaurant patreons or people in general don't know about it either
Her not understanding the concept of shoveling snow every day made me laugh
This video made me realize the only way she has survived life is that she grew up with money
@@--Danni-- straight up haha
@@--Danni-- i mean, i wouldn't go that far immediately. if you don't go to bars or don't drink much and have never heard someone talk about cutting someone off, you're just not gonna know about it. and if you didn't grow up in a snowy area, you're not necessarily going to think about how much work it takes. if she's someone who is concerned over how much her car repair costs, i wouldn't say she's drowning in enough money to not know how to survive without it. i'm sure she's had it easier in some ways and harder in others, but just cause they make entertainment content doesn't mean we get to gawk at them and make judgements on their life based on the bits and pieces of info we know. in fact i think it's just as parasocial to think you know enough about them to make judgement calls about how they've "survived life" as it is to romanticize their existences. just weird and kinda rude
Commenting on the last story. This is my personal favourite story about my friend being a badass. She's worked in an auto-parts shop for many years and has a lot of mechanic knowledge. I was working in a coffee shop at the time. She stopped in every day for her morning coffee, and one day had some car trouble in the parking lot. The cafe had big windows, so every one could see her as she popped open the hood of her car to figure out the issue. We had these regular customers, a group of men in their 60's, who watched this and got up to go and help her. Me and coworker both knew my friend knew what she was doing, and let them know she was fine. Sure enough in less than 5 minutes she had fixed the problem and drove away. It was incredibly satisfying to watch their reactions, and it's a story I bring up with my friend all the time. This type of thing happens to her at her job constantly, where people expect her to know nothing about mechanics but frequently has her male coworkers come to her with questions in front of customers. Shutting down sexist assumptions always brings me joy.
The difference between throwing people under the bus vs not in group projects isn’t about their grade, it’s about yours. Once you figure out that they’re going down, your job is to figure out whether you be nice and go with them or whether you save yourself. Good on her for doing that. As a huge nerd whose gone through similar, it was a lot, but honestly? Respect

"i'm always revenging, avenging and venging." that is so real olivia
As the person who did most of the work on group projects, the first story is so satisfying.
family friends of mine had a drunk driver crash into their house and it burned to the ground. apparently the server at the bar knew he was VERY intoxicated and planned on driving but continued to serve him. and that’s a clear example of why it’s necessary to stop serving alcohol at a certain point, even if that customer gets pissed
That is backwards thinking. It is your own effing responsibility for iversonsuming alcohol, not the worlds.
“Getting water from the bubbler” Amanda continues to represent Massachusetts beautifully
We say this in Canada too
Oh wow, i thought bubbler was just an Australian thing!
I agree with what the first person did, they didn't waste their money, they've got an extra spare tyre.
Or they probably returned it after, if the tire is unused you can just bring it back.
@@kaylawoodbury2308 Even if they didn't return it, one tire is probably less expensive than having to retake the class and it's definitely worth the amount of time it would take.
Take a shot every time Olivia is shocked or says “wait what?!” Hahaha
Shane’s boots are KILLER. Also the zoom in on Amanda playing with the blanket is so hole-some.
Love that Amanda pointed out that fun fact, that a server/bartender/cashier can cut someone off of alcohol whenever. If you are caught selling alcohol to someone who is legally intoxicated, you can lose your liquor license and face felonies and even jailtime depending on certain factors.
same deal with being a pharmacy tech, fucking scary, you can be held liable if a doctor fucks up by overprescribing or the person is doctor shopping picking up at different places etc just because the person ODs on something that happened to pass through your minimum wage hands to theirs. this is being remedied by electronic records thank god but it's actually insane what laws can do to make sure that low wage service people get held accountable for the lethal mistakes of strangers
No duh, your adding the fact that she said something about alcohol, then say exactly what they said but act like you added it
@@bottle3124 she didn’t mention the liquor license or the part where if ur serving to someone who’s ALREADY intoxicated, it can also be illegal. Amanda only mentioned cutting someone off. No need to be a smart ass
@@vixen205 who the fuck said I’m a smart add
Yeah but the bit about being legally liable for their behavior after overserving is literally all made up bullshit. A bartender can't go to jail for having overserved someone who then went on to drive drunk. That is absolute hogwash.

As a proud Minnesotan, hearing Amanda explain her experience with snow and shoveling in the windshield wiper story and Shane and Olivia being amazed made me cackle
Hard same
Sameeee lol 😂
exactly! there's definitely some winter camaraderie the new neighbors in the story were missing. in college i helped like 2 random people push their cars out of snow just because i was walking by and they needed help. you cant fight the cold alone!
Hello fellow Minnesotans
Hello from another Minnesotan!
"Hurt people hurt people" sounds too much like a chant for me not snort in laughter when I hear it
Every episode just reminds me that Shane is the best role-model for young men
The windshield story sent me. If you don't want people helping you, that's totally valid, but you don't get to go off on them about it and then expect them to help you later. Either accept the help of others or do things yourself. Both are fine, but you gotta pick a lane.
Exactly. I would have said, “I tried to help you yesterday by putting your wipers up before the weather hit, but you chewed my ass out, so no. Not helping you anymore”. Dude was totally justified to take that stance. If you decide to be a shitty neighbor, don’t expect any help from other neighbors.
@@EStramel09I agree he was told to not come back and if he did it could be trespassing. I agree with him not helping her.
@@EmJeClFr Not really, considering he was being actively invited to help. Trespassing is a stretch.
It would be trespassing if he tried to put the guy's wipers up again.
That being said, he was justified in not helping them. They burned their bridge, the wife tripled-down on insulting this older man that was just trying to help in the first place. It's straight from a parable.
The old man wasn't helping. He thought he was, because he doesn't understand how ice and snow work with vehicles. He's an ignorant asshole putting their vehicle at risk of damage. Replacing wipers isn't free, and he's making it more likely for the wipers to be damaged and need replaced.
Asking a person for help doesn't make you an asshole. And them forgiving this old man for his attempted vandalism shows a level of maturity that this old man clearly doesn't have. He wasn't entitled to help them, but that "fuck you for not letting me break your shit" was uncalled for.
The yoga pants story is great. "I can't say anything. He's IN dress code." bit got me lol
Also, screwing with creepy guys checking out the yoga pants girls is amazing

As someone who worked at Best Buy for four years, telling the store employee something along the lines of “I don’t what’s going on, it’s not your fault, it’s me, I’m the stupid one, I need help” is really the best way to get good help. About the biscuit thing, I would like to speak in defense of the iced tea thrower. He said it was very unlikely that the drink would actually hit the truck, nevertheless go inside of it. He was right handed, and his car had a very small window; he threw the drink with his left hand. I would also like to say that he was not trying to brag about his car. To me, it just sounded like he was explaining what his car looked like so that the readers could visualize how small the window was.😅

Amanda wondered why she was defending the restaurant industry, and I can relate. My dad was a chef and owned restaurants, and I worked for him from the age of 15 until I graduated college. I was expected to work harder than everyone else, and I did everything--cleaning toilets, washing dishes, bussing, waiting tables, food prep, line cook, you name it. There is no "easy" job in most restaurants. It's physically and emotionally difficult work, and I think when you do it you form a sort of group trauma bond that extends to everyone who has ever worked in that industry.
So far I’ve only bussed tables for two months (while not in school) and already my respect and gratitude to my peers in the food service and hospitality industries has grown astronomically.
Just smile and wave boys, smile and wave...
Exactly, this is why I feel like everyone should work at least one restaurant/service and retail job so they know how it feels to be on the other end of that situation. I’ve always been nice to any employee but my respect for them definitely increased after working those jobs
@@rockinonthemove I’ve never worked in the restaurant industry but I have some family that does and has in the past, I have so much respect after hearing the shit they’ve had to deal with

Obviously it’s just my opinion, but I agree with every revenge so far 42:13 . I will not give up my safety, comfortability, or happiness because someone else is rude and nasty. Screw being the bigger person because then you literally get treated as if you’re small and can’t handle yourself. Absolutely not. Especially the guy with the biscuits: a stale biscuit is HARD. I’ve been hit by one like a baseball and I had major bruising. It can DEFINITELY damage a car. The fact that y’all were talking about how you didn’t like the fact that he brought up he had a nice car- it was for a reason. The other guy could literally lose his job for ATTACKING someone. An empty water bottle doesn’t hurt but I don’t want one thrown at my car.
"be the better man", easier said than done. Im w the guy who just walked away, im canadian and we are nice folks, but dont mess w us. Dont expect to give a bad first impression and expect to be helped, its up to you to gain that trust back
Yeah, it also feels more like people-pleasing / you're becoming someone you could walk all over without any conversion or apology, so it could further enable this behavior so they'll feel like they can act out to all neighbors, and still demand more from *you* since you didn't need any reciprocity before
And honestly, if you’re chewing the guys ass out for that and still yelling even when other neighbors get involved, being the “better man” isn’t going to do a damned thing. I doubt they would apologize or be a better neighbor.
