It's more they gas light themselves. "It didn't happen like that, I'm a good person" Then they tell themselves this until they literally no long remember what happened
@andyp4437 Those who do not remember the past are doomed to repeat it. And those who do not atone for their sins can not be forgiven. It can even be argued that by willfully "forgetting" their bullying past, they are, in fact, continuing to bully their victims. And even if they truthfully could not remember, a decent person would apologize for any hurt or pain they caused another when reminded of it, if only to help alleviate another's suffering and help their healing journey.
No seriously, i think its actually a thing. Most people somehow dont remember their behaviour as bullying. Its just a small part of their high school experience while its way bigger for the person experiencing it sees it way bigger
@@cricketcoop2038yup. My mindset is they're all dumb for banking everything on this single thing, ESPECIALLY the ones who wouldn't graduate if they failed. Even then if you're gonna depend on the study sheet at the very lowest least SHOW UP! 20% grade for attendance is not something to just shrug off. At least show up even if you're not gonna put in effort and depend on what they were treating as basically a cheat sheet. Don't know the timeframe between the mid and final term, but that's a big chunk to just shrug off so you can go party.
The fact that everyone told this girl she "caused them" to fail is so wild. She was literally just attending the class, she's not obligated to help other people who don't even want to be associated with her.
Right. If it’s a 20/40/40 deal and you got a 75 on the mid, I’d think you’d be doing everything in your power to bump up that attendance score. Like the curve can help a bit, but really get the easy points.
Absolutely NEED you to cover this one called “i didn’t get a job because i was a bully in high school.” It’s in best of redditor updates and it is WILD.
On the bullying story: I once had a guy lie and say I was sexually harassing him and almost got me expelled from high school. I met him again years later and he genuinely didn’t remember me. For me it was my life almost getting ruined and for him it was just another Tuesday.
that's how it be - usually the bully doesn't remember bc it's just another day for them, but the victim is scarred for life this can happen with like stray comments that aren't intended to be offensive, or even a comment that's meant to like encourage you, in a way.
About the guy secretly "dating" the girl for a year: I guarantee you most girls listening to this story saw the coffee shop scene coming. We've all experienced men like this.
I knew IMMEDIATELY that he was gaslighting her by acting like he was her boyfriend all of a sudden. He thought he was being slick. I’m bummed she didn’t call him out right away, though, and nip it in the bud. I would’ve been like, “Did you just call me ‘babe’??” before he ever had the chance to kiss me.
That last story becomes so clear as soon as Shayne reads "he started sharing his opinions about women with me". That guy went from ok dude to incel in one sentence.
Which honestly makes me feel like it's maybe be fake... like you're telling out of all the time, they've hanged out not once those opinions ever came out.... not even like in an argument... it's just too perfect of a scenario...

That last story was a literal psychological horror movie for me. Like imagine having a best friend for years and then he is suddenly a misogynistic piece of garbage.
For anybody in the comments going through something like that last story, you are NOT overreacting to share your location. that situation can become stalking or worse very fast. It is never bad to be too careful---if you feel unsafe trust your gut. Take care of yourself and stay safe.
It was also very smart of her to meet him in a public place, from my perspective if she felt that she couldn’t speak with him in private she felt threatened by him, with good reason and that post could have ended very differently. I’m glad she’s safe now.
@@bej7784 I did wonder in the beginning if he had girlfriend zoned her and just assumed they were a couple because they spent so much time together but I wanted to give the benefit of the doubt. I should have trusted my instincts. It’s sad and really scary that this happens.
The reason the brother didn't tell the family is 100% because he was afraid his sister would tell the family and thought she wouldn't say anything if they were all at dinner.
I also think he knew that if he told them her name while dating they would not approve at all. With how the parents reacted, it's almost a guarantee that he knew (even subconsciously) that if he could make it all the way to the fiancee stage that his parents would be willing to drop the issue.
Yeah he knew exactly how the sister was going to react solely on that, because what do you mean you do not tell the family who you’re dating, not even her name until you meet her AFTER she said yes to becoming his fiancée?
The last one is terrifying for so many reasons. Imagine a person you trust manipulating your life without you even knowing. That’s nightmare material and I hope OP is okay.
The bully story... Yes she remembers. She's embarrassed. Instead of apologizing she's pretending. She deserved what she got. If she'd changed. She'd request a meeting with carter present in order to apologize. The fact she's playing amnesia and then runs off crying. Naw she's still manipulative.
yo that last story hit really hard, because I feel like a lot of women including myself eventually have that crazy mindfucky moment in high school or college when they realize that guys they thought saw them the same way they see themselves actually view them in a completely unhinged, misogynistic way and it really changes your entire worldview
My first bf was like this. His family held the same beliefs but they all kept it silent because they knew others would judge them?! Yeah, that is a big hint for them right there that maybe their beliefs are unhinged and misogynistic. The bf was unhinged, but the mom saying this stuff made my head spin and then I lost a little faith in humanity.
To be fair, this dude was exceptionally stupid. He was one youtube recommendation away from believing in flat earth theory and that the moon landing was faked, IF he doesn't already
@@highdefinition450hy do you think that? Any story anyone tells has a chance of being fake, of course, but I personally don’t see any massive leaps in the story that makes it obviously fake. The fact that a lot of people can relate to having guys in their life the underlying belief system of OPs ex-friend, it doesn’t seem so out of left field for someone to act like this in real life, especially with the advent of alpha bro podcasts that can easily nitro charge their awful beliefs. I’ve met a lot of absolutely unhinged teens, I imagine a lot of us have, and a lot of them would have easily been able to do this if alpha bro content was prevalent back then. Kids lie all the damn time to your face and behind your back, truly nothing in this story is a reach in the slightest imo
That final story scared me. Scared me to the core. To think that so many men, and even women, are falling into this hateful mindset. I just hope someday, people will accept one-another.
Ik right, I totally agree with you. That story is genuinely nightmare fuel. Imagine anyone you love no matter who or in what way is secretly, well, evil pretty much is terrifying.
The men being misogynistic af, alpha etc, meet the sexist, anti man women. I like read their Facebook arguments, but I don’t wanna meet any of them irl. Lol
The scary part is that so many of these people just can't be convinced that what they believe is bad. No matter how many rational arguments you throw at them, their brain just can't comprehend actual logic and form their own opinions. They need a big muscular cigar smoking dude to tell them what to think. They can't actually use critical thinking to reason about their opinions and question if they actually make sense or not. They're like conspiracy theorists. Trying to convince a flat earther that the earth is round is almost impossible. It's one of the fears I have of making friends with people online (or even real life). You never know how insane someone is until after quite a while.
I’m Korean. The gaslighting and the type of misogyny from the guy from the last story is pretty typical of Korean men. The way he behaved, screaming at her and grabbing her when she tried to talk to him, is also pretty typical too. I’m not sure if this type of behavior exists in other cultures, but I definitely see it in Korean men.
@zaytin1 I'm a white person. However, I briefly dated a Korean-American boy once when I was 21 after my bf broke up with me. Didn't consider this going anywhere serious but omfg.. He was really immature and took pride in drinking and driving.. Like you're a psychology student at Emory why would you put that in the line? And told me I needed to shower more. I didn't stink, but for some reason me not showering twice every day wasn't enough. And made some comments that were just like... wow you don't understand how women work do you? Needless to say, that was an interesting experience.
Misogynistic stories like the last one usually send me down a pessimistic spiral because I’ve been through some really bad gaslighting situations. But hearing these three guys talk about it in such an emotionally intelligent, caring, and mature way, helps remind me of all the good guys out there who still understand what’s right.
Yeah I think both women and men have good and bad people. It's just that we see the negativity and that's all we can think of. We might see just as much good but it gets less attention or it's not as memorable because negative emotions are so much stronger.
Agree 100%, which is also why I got really happy seeing Noah's very obvious reaction to when she said he grabbed her when she tried to leave. Men knowing right from wrong for these cases is always a relief
@@SEAkuaayeah propably isn't right of the comment above to associate gaslighting with just one gender. But I get why. It’s so crazy to me that people need to be told this, as a cis man. Like, just talk to women, please. They’re not Lying to you about what women are like; if they tell you something and it’s different for some other women, that’s just because women are people and are Not a hive mind ffs

Man, when the guy in the 3rd story said, "I'M okay with cutting YOUR parents out" really gave me Farquaad "Some of you may die, but thats im willing to take" vibes
For me it was weird that the parents were to blame.. the OP's partner chose to go to a for profit private college to get a degree she should have known wasn't going to get her a job, and paid for it by agreeing to pay for it with a job that never existed. Before they've even TRIED discussing it with them. Maybe they were fine with her not paying back? Maybe they were okay with some sort of payment plan over decades? Licensed Nurse here, Shayne is correct on the protocol for seizures. Don’t put anything in their mouth, like a spoon or especially a finger unless you plan to loose it. A seizure is essential neuron overload and that overload could cause their jaw to clamp shut beyond normal strength possibly biting your finger off or breaking their teeth on a spoon.😅 After getting them to the ground safely, the two big things is protecting the head from injury, laying it on your lap is fine, and airway protection including removing tight jewelry or clothing around the neck and turning them in the recover position if they start to vomit so they don’t choke. Stay with the victim and don’t hold them down, let the seizure happen. Many times seizures resolve themselves. Do be ready to orient the victim after they come too because confusion post seizure is common.
And eyes closed isn’t impossible. I had a customer have a seizure and his eyes were closed the whole time. It was absolutely real as we called ems and they took over. He was in the parking lot and I put his my tennis shoe under his head to protect him from the asphalt. It was so scary, but my basic cpr and safety training kicked in. Ems said I did a good job. I hope it never happens again, but at least I know what to do.
Note don’t move the person unless necessary (I.e vomiting, choking or unsafe environment). My sister has dislocated her shoulder because she got stuck in the couch during one, you holding them could cause the same effect
@@C0ttonEyes That is correct! The big thing people don’t realize is that a body that is fully seizing holds nothing back and doesn’t follow the normal movements of the human body because all your fine and gross motor skills go out the window. All movement is random in direction, speed, and power. If your hand is stuck or held down and you yank with only your torso at full force and your actual arm and shoulder is relaxed, it wouldn’t be that hard to dislocate your shoulder. I think many people don’t realize how violent seizures can be. I guess they want to think of it like Parkinson’s which is very different. I’m sorry to hear about your sister, I hope she’s ok!
I’ve been the first on scene to my coworker having a seizure and she had bitten her tongue so we elevated her head and put her head kinda sideways to let the blood out of her mouth

The seizure "faking" story messes me up because I got accused quite a bit about faking vasovagal syncope when I was a kid. I wasn't faking it. Why would I want to pass out in the middle of my meals, or even worse the few times it happed when I was in the restroom? If she was faking it, she's the AH, but really the OP is the AH in every situation.
I totally agree. I have chronic health problems, and being accused of faking something that affects your life so deeply... really hurts. I'm sorry you had to go through that. I get vasovagal syncope as well
Same. I have psychogenic seizures like the girl in the story. They’re not a neurological misfire, but it usually takes DAYS for me to feel better after having an episode. It makes your body hurt.
I had a high school classmate that faked having lung cancer. She was a chronic liar so I was skeptical, but wasn’t about to assume she was lying about something so serious. It was solidified as a lie when she came to school one day and she said she was “cured” because the doctors scraped the cancer out of her over the weekend.
HOLY SHIT LOL. I love how fked up the implications are when it comes to chronic liars like that. "Oh yea, I got my cancer scraped out over the weekend... Yup, easy as that.... Nah, anyone who dies of cancer just didn't bother getting it scraped out... You can defs do that..."
Someone in my middle school pretended to have eye cancer, and when everyone found out he lied they bullied him really hard. He ended up switching schools. I always felt kinda bad for him, but at the same time karma’s a bitch.
Lmao thats such a bad lie. They cant even operate on both lungs at once, because whichever one theyre working on gets deflated and needs a few weeks to heal before they do the other one. And it cant possibly all be taken out, they can only operate on a small part of each lung at a time and only go for the biggest or easiest to get to nodules…… and honestly its usually just for diagnosis, they take some out to test exactly what type of cancer it is and then treat it with chemo/immunotherapy. Source: i work in medicine and have a family member going through lung cancer treatment right now.
The last story made me genuinely upset because I relate to the shock of finding out a man in my life was secretly a psycho misogynist. My cousin has fallen into that Tate, alpha male, podcast bullshit. He has become someone I don’t recognize in only a year. He has become cruel, violent, with deeply warped views of the word. I’ve cut him out of my life, but I hear stories from other family members still in contact with him and the things they tell me are scary. I do not know how anyone can help him out of this well he’s fallen down before he does something he can’t take back. It’s such a weird, other worldly experience to realize someone you loved is not the person you thought they were.
The only time they will know that the screw up is when they don't have what they want a girfriend to marry to make family, they are gonna be all alone and miserable thinckin that the "perfect girl" exist, those "alpha youtubers" contradict themselves all the time, one video is attacking women who watch for his career rather than being housewife's and then in another video they are attacking the women who want to make a family and want to be housewife (in the before video his "ideal women" were housewife's). The "alpha idiots" just wants to attack any prospect of women, they just want to see like "profesional migonistic imbecils"
I’ve had a similar experience where he did something that I never expected and couldn’t get over. It completely destroyed my view of him. He was the person I was closest to and now it’s like he’s a stranger. I’m really sorry you went through it as well
I imagine the guy in the last story needs therapy. Forget not having a female authority in his life. It seems he doesn’t have a positive male figure in his life, either. I find that the Top G community gets more views from people with no positive male influence.
As a nurse, I'm so glad you guys immediately debunked the seizure/tongue issue! I can confirm you don't want to insert anything into their mouth and don't want to restrain them during a seizure. You can move things away that they might bump into and can put a pillow, balled up jacket, or slightly elevate the head so it doesn't hit the ground, and call EMS if it lasts more than 5 minutes.
The one thing I took away from being a lifeguard as a teenager was that, when it comes to seizures, I think of two things, and two things only: “Don’t constrict the movement, but protect the head.” One of those things I never thought I’d use, but lo and behold, my younger brother had a seizure in the garage in front of me not six months ago. We never knew he was epileptic before, but that phrase was the only thing in my head, and I feel like it really made a difference
My cat has seizures, so I've done some general research on epilepsy. Most of what I know is regarding cats, but the recommended reactions seem to be relatively the same.
My father has frequent seizures, diagnosed by a professional, he always closes his eyes when it happens and can recall if someone was touching him during the episode. in fact when one of our family friends were riding in our car when he had an attack, the friend tried to help by hold his shoulders down (a panic induced impulse to seeing the seizure I guess). when he recovered from the attack my dad told him not to do that because when the episode is happening it becomes a very scaring feeling and being pinned down only makes it worse. We mostly just protect his head or arms from hitting anything near by, or hold his hand until it stops.
@@elreturner1227 Mate thats NOT the point. Even IF it was fake and i have strong doubts about that, kid with barely passing knowledge is NOT qualified to make that distinction. I went to school with someone who developed narcolepsy or some other condition in 7th grade. Everyone was convinced he was faking fainting to get out of class to the point where no one would try to catch him when he started to faint to “prove it”. I was in several classes with him but didn’t sit anywhere near him so couldn’t try to catch him either. It took him fainting and hitting his head on the radiator for everyone to realize he wasn’t faking it. So yeah, maybe just believe people because it’s really not hurting you that bad and if they are faking it they’ll get bored of it after a while anyway 🤷♀️
If it gets all the way to the hospital or emergency services level that is where there should be consequences. Like if someone calls 911 with a non-emergency issue.

OP and the reddit story TERRIFY me. My neurologist diagnosed me with psychogenic seizures - which aren't epileptic but are a real unintentional episode usually brought on as a trauma response. He was about to end the call about my results when I suggested cataplexy and THANK GOD got referred to a half decent sleep specialist. Given there are so many conditions going undiagnosed that look kinda like seizures AND given people with psychogenic seizures are devastated at diagnosis because they feel guilty for *unintentionally, unconsciously* "faking" (and there's no treatment besides trauma therapy) I don't care who they are - we need to give people the benefit of the doubt.

Hey, just a nursing student but as far as the seizure thing goes, DO NOT support any part of the body or hold anything down, first thing you should do is slowly get them on the ground, turn them on their side so you help them maintain their airway and they don't inhale any spit, then clear the area of anything hard that they could hurt themselves on, then put something relatively soft and flat to elevate the head off the ground, something like a pillow is ideal but in a situation where that's not possible use something like a hoodie or a jacket that's folded up, finally if they have glasses on take them off, that is all you should do if you don't have further training. Hope this helps, sorry if this has already been posted somewhere else.
Yep this, you don't need to apologize btw I'm still seeing comments from people confused, hopefully with enough likes more people can be educated on what to do, thank you for the info
I have psychogenic non epileptic stress induced seizures, and people have told people I'm faking when they have literally ruined my life. First thing I thought of when he said that was that that's a good way to get your fingers bitten. I know you don't have to hold the head the whole time. Just pretty much make sure nothing is around for safety & get them in the recovery position & keep an eye on them

This, a million times. If the kids in my school had had that kind of class or explanation or message the kids AND the teachers at my school might not have caused so my trauma.
Very glad that they immediately corrected Noah on the tongue thing. As long as the person having the seizure is in no danger, don’t touch them *at all* and if they are in danger of hitting their head, then you can support it (with a pillow or something soft, don’t just like stand there and hold it). Touching someone who is seizing risks both harming them and them accidentally hurting you
Yep. As a person with epilepsy, and who has seen people have them, I can attest. If anything (and really, you should be very cautious with this), attempt to get support under the head, especially if it happens while on a hard surface. But, yeah, definitely don't stick your hands, or anything else, in their moth, eyes, etc. That kid also angered me when he posted that they were having "fake" seizures because the pattern on the EEG wasn't "correct" for a seizure. You can have nonepileptic seizures as well. I did after having brain surgery back in May. People need to learn the facts and stop believing crap on the internet and on TV. Sorry for the rant.
General info: if somebody is having a seizure DO NOT restrict movement or put anything in their mouth. Put a pillow/shirt/anything soft under their head to mitigate head trauma from convulsions. If you can, try to put them on their side to prevent aspirating on vomit. If you’re there at the start, try to time the length of the seizure and tell EMS when they arrive. Remember, many times seizures look scarier than they actually are. Just do what you can and make sure emergency services are called and on their way
Epileptic here. No need to put anything under the head, just move tings away from the body. If you try to move their head to put something under it, it could do damage. Also, if the person has epilepsy, just monitor for safety, time the seizure (if it lasts longer than 5 minutes call Emergency Services), after the seizure, roll them onto the recovery position (look it up, it's a fancy way of placing them on the side), if the person has difficulty coming out of the seizure also call emergency services. As they wake up, you can ask them simple questions to help the brain make connections again. But with people you know have epilepsy, please don't call 911 for me. I'll recover fine on my own and don't want to pay for the ambulance ride and spend time going to the hospital and back just for them to say oh, you have epilepsy, so you had a seizure. I don't need an ER trip for something I know I have, unless it's one of the two things I listed above, prolonged seizure or struggling to come out of it.

So weird to hear him say he'd pull at someone's tongue. You're gonna either harm the person seizing or they'll clamp onto your hand like a Dobermann, I've personally had very bad damage to my mouth after a seizure. I tend to also tell people it looks horrifying but I'll likely be fine, emergency services are often not even needed
The bullying one absolutely got to me. I got bullied pretty bad from the age of 10-18 in high school and sixth form. And if someone from that time 'turned up' and 'forgot' that they bullied me, I would be SO angry. And the brother knows she went through that and chose to not put his sister first. So maddening.
The brother is what pisses me off the most. He remembers this girl putting his sister through hell and then forgives her and keeps dating her. What a shitty brother.
What really gets me is his gall to support his sister's bully and still act like his opinion on the situation is valid or worth anything. Like, whether or not you wanna be there for your sibling is your business; but don't act like everything's fine or they owe you their compliance just cause you trying to get hitched. It's the two-facedness.
I love that after all these years I can never decide if Noah is just the most positive human alive, or just batshit insane. And I like to believe its both, and that's pretty great.
as a recent high school graduate it's absolutely crazy how much cyberbullying happens now like everything is online and it's so much harder to not be made fun of
I was in middle school during the MySpace era and the cyber bullying was bad then too. People would post bulletins about you and everyone would pile on. The thing is that back then we didn’t have a name for it and parents and schools didn’t really care. We also had a top friends portion on our myspace pages and that caused a lot of drama too. But I imagine that it’s just insane these days with all the platforms
@@cosodesign8953I was literally talking to a buddy the other day about all these new features they keep adding on insta that no one is asking for and we joked about bring a top friends section back and how it would literally crumble society in this day and age 😂
I went to high school before cyberbullying was a thing, but it was such a small school in such a small town that we all knew everything about each other anyway.
@@Subsistence69 Haven't they basically done that though? There's a story feature for chosen people, right? And when it was released, it would tell that person that they were on the list... I don't think they do that anymore, but still. It feels kinda like a top friends thing lol.
Dude, no exaggeration, that last story legit terrified me even before the update reveal, during the moment I placed myself in her situation of finding out everyone of their mutuals thought they were dating. "Wrote a Love story"? Girl, you have a horror best-seller in your hands. I felt second hand anxiousness from just listening and thinking about the before and after the comfrontation. If that's all real, this girl needs to move ASAP because thats scary as hell, it almost sounds like a documentary story iykwim.
True, I'm even having a hard time with excepting that this was real. However, the best part is that her entire family is moving from there, regardless of these events that would drive everyone at least 3 states further away. This guy is a psychopath, no matter if it's another culture or another planet, that would be my nightmare.
The story about the girl who spread false rumors, I’m glad y’all acknowledged how weird it is to fabricate lies from nothing. If I were the brother I wouldn’t want to be with someone who has done something like that idc if it was high school that takes a specific kind of person with specific mental issues to do. The only time I’ve lied was to get out of something or to avoid offending someone but it has never occurred to me to completely make up a story about someone like it’s bizarre and weird and you’re not someone I want to associate with if you are ok telling tall tales. The lies we’re against his sister that’s bad enough but the fact she felt ok doing that to anyone wouldn’t sit right with me if I were him.
It’s so refreshing to see such emotionally mature men, in a calm and respectful environment, with compassionate and logical opinions about misogynistic issues in particular. I’m struggling quite a bit at the moment with men in my life being disrespectful and immature. Hearing their thoughts at the end of the last story genuinely made me emotional. @fosixsix225 No hunny, Drop seizures or Tonic Clonic seizures are where the whole Body convulse's. If you're standing up, you will drop.. What your cousin? Some people can actually tell before hand and get to safety like sitting down or out of the shower ect. Which honestly is AMAZING! My son also has absent seizures where it looks like he's just day dreaming or staring off into space but he's actually actively seizing. It's just not a whole body seizure. Also with drop seizures, It makes your body go limp.. So for instance, my sons last seizure he was sitting down and because of that his head flopped forward and cut his airway off.. He's slammed his poor face into desks and tables and he's busted his nose,he's hit his face on the bathroom sink cuz he was brushing his teeth at the time.. The seizure story is something . I have seizures and most definitely can hear and feel everything that happens to me , I just can’t respond when it happens. I’ve literally heard a doctor say their going to stab me with a needle to show I was faking and was on drugs . I didn’t wake . I had multiple needle stab wounds on my hand and drug test done showing no drugs . No apology was granted . The whole "my daughter doesn't hear me" reminds me of when I was little (like 5/6) my parents got my hearing checked bc I wouldn't respond/ asking for repetition to questions. I had (maybe I still do idk) perfect hearing and they the doctor told me that I was just ignoring them. I ACTUALLY have a auditory processing disorder that causes me to literally not comprehend people (it's usually in people with ADHD/Autism but idk if it's exclusive) but I used to get into SO much trouble because I legitimately wouldn't understand/hear them and parents/teachers thought I was being defiant.
I have pretty extreme ADHD but wasn't diagnosed until adulthood, and I had much the same experience. If you don't already have my direct attention when speaking to me, It's significantly more difficult for me to parse what you say. Trying to teach me lessons on "paying attention when they speak the first time" didn't do much on that front, surprisingly.
Dude the story about the twins and swapping places gave me such a bad feeling in my stomach. I know this isn't really near the extremity of the reddit story, but a long time ago I often fell victim to a lot of scenarios where I would be having a nice long conversation over text with a friend, only to find out a different person that I didn't know had been using THEIR phone. It always left me with a strange feeling in my stomach like I almost never knew if who I was messaging was who I thought they were. Often it lead to times where I had to ask "Is this really you?" if I noticed my friend acting a little differently over text. It may appear as a silly joke to them, but having it occur more than once is pretty concerning.
I had this acquaintance in high school that I was trying to talk to I had something serious going on and he had offered support (it was a family health matter) but half way through our text conversation the person said they were another one of his female friends. It honestly made me really mad and I called her out on it and that friendship didn't go to far after that.
This has happened to me, I met a interesting friend on Facebook and either they lost their phone or account or something cuz when mentioning the name to them on the phone number message texts they didn't know what I was talking about and said I'm not that person you named.
this video makes me so happy because it’s adults putting themselves in teenagers these days shoes and actually understanding high school situations instead of just making fun of it like media always does
As a teenager with epilepsy, who is about to move out, it’s so nice to see people know how to support someone having a seizure! I appreciate how Noah’s first instinct was to help, though he was thinking wrong, and I love how everyone jumped in to kindly correct. Wonderful episode! :)
As a mother of an epileptic teenager, when Noah said to stick his hand in the mouth ASAP I ABOUT DIED😂😂 I was like NOOO OMG NOOO 😂😂. Unfortunate as it is to have to do, you just Need to let them seize.. Make sure they aren't in danger, make sure if they are still seated that the head isn't tilted forward essentially cutting off the airway ( MY son graciously taught us that one.😢) Talk to them, tell them they are OK ect. DO NOT RESTRICT MOVEMENT. Make sure they are safe, but don't try to restrain. Epilepsy is awful.. Its so fucking scary for everyone. Now you listen here.. you had better call your mama EVERYDAY!! Make sure to take your meds on time and please let those know around you that you have Epilepsy and educate them on how to handle you in an emergency. Good luck in all your endeavors darling!! Just to add to his stupidity he said it was psychogenic and not a real seizure. Psychogenic seizures are a real thing and are real seizures. So him saying its both faked for attention and psychogenic is completely contradictory. Psychogenic seizures are also called Psychogenic Non-Eplileptic Seizures (PNES).

The phrase of 'useless debt' by that euro dude grinds my gears, like it paid for his girlfriends education and even if it might not be in a super employable field, he's essentially saying her education and all the work she put towards her degree was useless.
I think his argument is that she could've gotten just as good an education for free. If you go into debt to get something you could've gotten for free, that *is* useless debt. Like Smosh said, I think he has a good argument but he's going about it in the most AH way possible.
Especially because there is nothing in the story about her regretting any part of her decision. She has a first job and is ready to start paying her parents back however much at time and I just see him as being out here saying "Your parents need to understand that you wasted their money pursuing your failed dreams."
If I was him I would tell her hey you pay back your debt to your parents cause I get it you made a deal but leave me out of it I'll leave and find someone I'm more compatible with and just break up with her it's that simple talk communication is key when it comes to a romantic relationship of any caliber
you'll literally get the same education for free. if the end result of two methods is the same but one costs nothing and the other costs more money than you will in decades, then you did indeed waste your money.
@@Sam-fq8dmhi veterinarian here,if u or anyone u know come across a K-9 or Feline having a seizure never try to grab their tongues including humans it’s extremely dangerous U can get bitten really bad or hurt them just protect them from falling off anything or hurting themselves same for humans roll them on their side call for help just incase u ever come across this again 🥰
My son has seizures, here's what to do. Make sure they're in a safe position. Protect their head (don't hold it, on top of a lap or pillows is fine). And soothing words, like "hey you're having a seizure. You're a home. I'm here for you". Anything longer than 5 mins call an ambulance.
And dangerous for the person having the seizure. What would it even entail to disprove this seizure? It's like that witch thing where if you live you're a witch and killed but if you die thank God you're not a witch poor corpse.
Want to just state for the record DO NOT PUT ANYTHING IN ANYONE'S MOUTH DURING A SEIZURE! the chance that they will bite off your fingers and choke on your digit is a lot higher than them choking on their own tongue.
And do not use your hands to protect a person's skull, they'll just break your hands, put a sweater or some clothing between their head and the floor, and look up the appropriate recovery protocols for Grand Mal (body shaking and convulsions) seizures.
I think because for this generation specifically, it’s “cool” now to have something wrong with you from mental illness and disorders to faking seizures and sicknesses for attention from others. So while it is kinda sh*tty to question it, it’s a highly plausible thing.
As an epileptic, never ever grab someone’s tongue... Make sure they didn’t hit their head, turn them on their side, time it if possible. Also, never assume that someone is faking it. In that case they were right but seizures are different for everyone and are not like what happens on tv (at least mine aren’t)
Fun Fact: my first job out of high school required me to undergo extensive first aid/CPR training, and I did it again for my college degree. One of the main things I learned about was helping those who are having seizures. You DO NOT hold their tongue or restrain them in any way (or open their eyes). Doing so could result in severe injury to you or the patient! Instead, you help them gently to the ground and carefully turn them on their side. Make sure they have plenty of space; don’t crowd around them, and make sure there’s no furniture that they can hit their head or limbs on. Check for any sort of medical bracelet/necklace/tattoo etc. Time the seizure; they should only last a few minutes, but this varies from person to person. If it lasts too long or if you don’t know if they have a history of seizures, call for help. Shayne is right about supporting the head to make sure they don’t hit it on the floor or anything else, but like I said, don’t restrain or crowd them. Last but definitely not least, do your best to stay calm. Edit: if they’re sitting up and not falling, don’t guide them to the ground. Keep an eye on them just in case, but the main dangers are of them hitting their head if they fall or swallowing their tongue/choking on vomit if they’re on their back. Sorry for the TMI, but it’s true.
Additional info (if you’re in the US where ambulances mean debt): If you Do know that a person has a history of seizures, you don’t need to call an ambulance unless the seizure lasts too long or they have two in a short period of time.
@@prnc96 sometimes, instead of wearing a bracelet or pendant or something with a brief alert about their medical condition in case of emergency, people will get it tattooed on them. I feel bad for OP to have a brother who cares so little for the wellbeing of his sister. If he really loved her he would mever date her former bully, not the least without Anika sincerely apologizing and making up. I can't imagine dating someone in my siblings' circles let alone anyone who had bullied them, regardless of change or not. OP did mention that "they're made for each other" so it seems like he is indeed just as shitty as Anika.
Noah's "ask any of them, cause they all will have an answer" is like, the quote of the century honestly. so true... so sad but so true. most men don't realize just HOW common these experiences are for women. they shrug it off as like "oh well this happened to someone i guess". but no. something or another happened to ALL of us. actually, many things. as women, we quite literally all have a story to tell. it feels nice to hear it acknowledged so clearly and unequivocally.
hey i've been in the same situation of not knowing you were dating someone... im aromantic, quite a shock to realize that the person i was hanging out with didn't think my romantic orientation was valid and just kinda ignored it. she also ignored the fact that im poly and got mad that i was interested in another person when i was under the impression that we were friends...
i didn´t waited and looked it up in the link of that video, things went very smooth after it happened, the ex visits the pregnant mom every now and then
Noah's reactions are always my favorite, he gets so rightfully angry/shocked/worried on the behalf of those who were wronged. I love these reddit episodes and watch every one, please keep doing them for as long as they're fun!!
Thing is about the guy in a relationship, he was basically saying ”people with loads of money(the parents) will cripple our tiny economically gaining relationship with no money. He wasn’t an asshole, he just worded it wrong. I’m actually kind of dissapointed that he was seen as a ”mega asshole” as all he was implying and trying to get was insight into ”is being secondhandedly affected by a immoral debt on my girlfriends side something i should intervene in?”
The Anika story makes me so angry. My mom had a bunch of friends with kids my age, and one of them hated me. He constantly pulled embarrassing pranks on me and at one point threw paving stones at me. I would be forced to be around him when Mom saw her friends and I always dreaded it. Him bullying me went on throughout elementary and middle school, and thankfully I didn't have to see him much after that. He did come to pick something up for his mom once after we had both graduated college though. He tried making small talk and asking how I had been. When he realized I refused to give him more than a one word answer he asked what my problem was. I reminded him that he bullied me for years and that I still didn't like him and he asked me why I "hadn't gotten over it yet". According to him, he was a kid and it didn't matter. BS. He wanted me to be "civil and polite" when the thought of apologizing never once crossed his mind. You do not have to get over/forgive your bullies if they refuse to even try to apologize! I'm so sorry her family doesn't understand or fully support her. If Anika really has changed, she'd be trying to make it right because she would genuinely feel bad. She isn't upset that she got "embarrassed", she's upset that her immature and awful behavior caught up to her and bit her in the butt.
i have a cousin who was an awful bully to me when i was a small child whenever we visited my paternal grandmother. we moved overseas for a time and werent able to visit my grandmother or really any family for several years. the next time i saw her, (edit, i think i was 14) she tried to make small talk and just shoot the breeze or whatever and i just stared her down and waited for her to apologize to me. she never did.
Yeah, he's a POS. I kinda come from the other direction... I had a "friend" in middle school who would bully another "friend" relentlessly, in the name of good fun. I never actively participated but was definitely an enabler, standing by the side and saying nothing, at worst sometimes laughing along. Ironically, I think the bullied kid might not remember me, but I will remember him for the rest of my life. I've really had to reckon with the fact that I've contributed, even in a small way, to this kid having social anxiety and trouble making friends. If I ever met him again, I would apologize for what I did (or didn't do) even if he didn't remember himself. I understand why some people would claim to have forgotten. Apologizing means recognizing and feeling shame for what an asshole you were, and that's hard to do. But expecting to have any kind of cordial relationship with your victim because "they should've gotten over it by now" is delusional. No dude, it's your job to apologize, so maybe you should get over it
I know I'm not the first to say this ,but I really connect with the raw emotion and sense of what is right that Noah exhibits when speaking on important issues. I'd love to see more of him in these reddit episodes.

@@anotheralainatruly terrifying. i always wonder how things like this happen. did they really show no signs of a poor moral code? did they never have meaningful conversations with their bff? did they lie about their beliefs to appease the other person? if they lied, how did they converse about that and still maintain their misogynistic beliefs? how much should i give my friends the benefit of the doubt? i like to be trusting and optimistic, but i also don’t want to support an insidiously evil individual

the high school bully one genuinely makes me so mad. her description of feeling physically sick when she saw her bully again was all too familiar for me (i was bullied pretty badly in 8th grade and felt sick even just hearing her name)-and what she’s describing is actually a trauma response. she went through some serious shit
the accidentally dating my bff story really burned a hole in my chest. red flags. ab*se at its finest. if someone begins to walk away from you, you let them. you never under any circumstances put your hands on anyone let alone a woman. horrifying. so glad she got away from that.

I just want to clarify something about psychogenic seizures as someone who has had them! It's not a conscious choice or someone faking it/choosing to do it, it's a genuine physical response from your nervous system. It's like how some people get faint when you go through immense stress. I'm sure people do fake stuff, but even though they tend to get better with awareness and coping skills they're not a choice
Its just the icing on his stupidity cake that he claimed the seizures were both psychogenic and fake. My partner also gets them too so it just pissed me off more.
@@ettinakitten5047 I'm unsure if all are classified that way, but it seems like the majority for sure! For a seizure, you roll the person on their side (so they don't choke on their tongue or vomit) and elevate their head. You NEVER want to hold their tongue...you can lose a finger.
That last story broke my heart and nearly caused me to spit out my water onto my work computer, especially because of his attitude to her. That’s an awful person and I’m so sorry she lost her best friend. I hope she knows how much we all support her and care for her.
As an epileptic- I almost removed an old woman’s fingers during a grand mal ( tonic clonic ) because she believed the swallowing tongue myth. I had to get shots, she got stitches. I heavily recommend avoiding our mouths. 💀😂 If you wish to help: time our seizures, stabilize our head, avoid restraining us and locate any medical ID if possible.
It is really ard to get that low of a grade if you do the bare minimum, meaning showing up to class. Grade curves make or break, so lucky OP for getting an average exam grade and it being curved to a near perfect score lol. I had a similar thing happen to me in a chem class too
would like to at least point out that psychogenic seizures aren’t the same as someone “faking a seizure”! I have PNES (psychogenic non-epileptic seizures) which, for me, is essentially a panic disorder that manifests as fainting spells that are seizure-like in appearance. also, noah, you freak, if i had an episode and i came to to you grabbing my tongue, I’d bite your hand off 😂
It is truly amazing how many bullies apparently suffer from the medical condition of intermittent amnesia.
It's more they gas light themselves.
"It didn't happen like that, I'm a good person"
Then they tell themselves this until they literally no long remember what happened
the good old 'politician at a hearing" trick- they do not recall
@andyp4437 Those who do not remember the past are doomed to repeat it. And those who do not atone for their sins can not be forgiven. It can even be argued that by willfully "forgetting" their bullying past, they are, in fact, continuing to bully their victims. And even if they truthfully could not remember, a decent person would apologize for any hurt or pain they caused another when reminded of it, if only to help alleviate another's suffering and help their healing journey.

The reason the brother didn't tell the family is 100% because he was afraid his sister would tell the family and thought she wouldn't say anything if they were all at dinner.
I also think he knew that if he told them her name while dating they would not approve at all. With how the parents reacted, it's almost a guarantee that he knew (even subconsciously) that if he could make it all the way to the fiancee stage that his parents would be willing to drop the issue.
it's like that one comment said, the brother was manipulative too
Yeah he knew exactly how the sister was going to react solely on that, because what do you mean you do not tell the family who you’re dating, not even her name until you meet her AFTER she said yes to becoming his fiancée?

This is why I watch. I mean, the stories are amazing, but the discussion is primo.

Ew. What goes through these peoples head?
Had a girl say her dad died because he was shot in California. He picked her up from school a few days later.
I’m really sorry you went through it as well
That's definitely fake believing the menstrual cycle is fake is just unbelievable to me
I imagine the guy in the last story needs therapy.
You forgot to bring up getting them on their side to make sure they don’t choke on spit
Thank you. All I was thinking was "for the love of God please don't do that"
My cat has seizures, so I've done some general research on epilepsy. Most of what I know is regarding cats, but the recommended reactions seem to be relatively the same.
He’s absolutely correct about his classmate faking.
Ok fair but right after being told which questions you have to do is pretty suspicious
@@elreturner1227 Mate thats NOT the point. Even IF it was fake and i have strong doubts about that, kid with barely passing knowledge is NOT qualified to make that distinction. Touching someone who is seizing risks both harming them and them accidentally hurting you
Aside from rolling someone on their side and cushioning their head with something soft, yeah, never touch someone during the seizure
@@emilyferguson3718100% agree.
34:14 Epileptic person here! The proper procedure when dealing with someone having a convulsive seizure is to put them on their side :)

Especially not your fingers, good way to get them bitten off or at least badly damaged.
That's what really had me boiling! He has no consideration for what she went through, which I cannot fathom. My sister's enemies are MY enemies.
I feel like the brother is the true villain here. Cause the bully might be a bitch, but he straight up betrayed her
The brother is what pisses me off the most. He remembers this girl putting his sister through hell and then forgives her and keeps dating her. What a shitty brother.
❤❤❤
What really gets me is his gall to support his sister's bully and still act like his opinion on the situation is valid or worth anything. Like, whether or not you wanna be there for your sibling is your business; but don't act like everything's fine or they owe you their compliance just cause you trying to get hitched.

THIS. when I heard hold their tongue I fully stopped functioning 😳 never, Jesus. I'm so glad they immediately walked that back
Additional info (if you’re in the US where ambulances mean debt): If you Do know that a person has a history of seizures, you don’t need to call an ambulance unless the seizure lasts too long or they have two in a short period of time.
From someone who has seizures, thank you.

I’m actually kind of dissapointed that he was seen as a ”mega asshole” as all he was implying and trying to get was insight into ”is being secondhandedly affected by a immoral debt on my girlfriends side something i should intervene in?”
True! Agreed
I'd love to see more of him in these reddit episodes.

how much should i give my friends the benefit of the doubt? i like to be trusting and optimistic, but i also don’t want to support an insidiously evil individual
@@skywayve7473 I was thinking the same things. How much do we really know the people in our lives? When do we stop giving a loved one the benefit of the doubt? I guess cautious optimism is the best way to handle friendships.
Unfortunately I’ve been in a situation similar. My ex started introducing me as their partner to people without telling me first, and I unfortunately ended up staying with them for over a year. It’s a weird situation
spencer’s smile & point at kiana when shayne talked about friendships with women restored my faith in men a little i’m ngl
Exactly! Warmed my heart
Not Spencer clearly making eye contact with Kiana off screen and smiling when Shayne says "one of the best things you can have as a straight man is a genuine friendship with a woman" :)
I noticed that too, it was super cute 🫶🏼
Imagine how much funnier shayne could’ve been if he went through public school life
He’s already really funny. He could’ve not flourished more if he did go to public school. Him being like this is a canon event
40:31 that story is word for word the plot to “You Again”
the high school bully one genuinely makes me so mad. her description of feeling physically sick when she saw her bully again was all too familiar for me (i was bullied pretty badly in 8th grade and felt sick even just hearing her name)-and what she’s describing is actually a trauma response. she went through some serious shit
the accidentally dating my bff story really burned a hole in my chest. red flags. ab*se at its finest. if someone begins to walk away from you, you let them. you never under any circumstances put your hands on anyone let alone a woman. horrifying. so glad she got away from that.
Ikr. When they read the first part I was like it HAS to be a joke. There’s no other way for this to be legit. No sane person would seriously do that to someone, and that turned out to be right
That last story broke my heart. I went through something similar during my senior year of high school. His family would straight up tell me we were dating even when I said we weren’t. He tried to unalive himself, and said the reason was because I didn’t love him.
Dear lord… So sorry you had to go through that.
Jesus Christ. I hope you’re doing okay now. No one deserves to be put under that kind of pressure.
christ on a fucken bike
@@mortua_conjuga pretty much
Spencer pointing at someone (Kiana, maybe?) behind the camera as Shayne talks about the importance of having female friends is so cute 🥺
@@euryid8920i don’t think he is saying the act of having a seizure is fake the girl ids faking seizures
@@4.3Devvhe said "it's just a psychogenic seizure" a psychogenic seizure is not controllable
Aren't they basically a form of dissociative episode?
@@ettinakitten5047 I'm unsure if all are classified that way, but it seems like the majority for sure! Mine are like a fire alarm when I'm so dissociated from severe muscle spasms that I can't identify where the adrenaline/panic is even coming from, and I have to ground myself by focusing on each part of my body until I find the issue.
That last story felt like a playthrough where you just try to find out what the bad dialogue options do
you put it into words!!
For a seizure, you roll the person on their side (so they don't choke on their tongue or vomit) and elevate their head. You NEVER want to hold their tongue...you can lose a finger.
They don’t choke on their tongue only maybe on vomit
@@elreturner1227vomit but mainly saliva
This comment had to be pinned. People should NOT be holding tongues.
It's like putting your hand into a police dog's mouth, DON'T DO IT can't believe people think that method is real
Oh my god! That last story made me want to hurl. I actually started crying for that girl. I hope she stays safe and far far away from that boy.
8:15 I love the double take when they realize it was an overshot of a guess! We need more and more combos of guests, they all work so well together.
@Angela-zp1qsBRO OMG! This annoying bot bommented on SMOSH's video, I'm Crying 😭 (tears of disappointment in humanity)
@meowJACK 🤣 Right tho?
