    I wanted to see an update from the Blond Siblings. There were so many other ways they could torment their mother. But the little sister really just wants bodily autonomy her own way. Noah's suggestion of using a wig to prank the mum is fantastic. All the siblings need to sit down and establish the common objective: to never be like their mother in any way. 'Cause the problem was never the hair, it was the negligence of the mother who only cared about one thing in the siblings' lives.

      I DO kinda wonder if the youngest blonde sib should consider exploring feelings about her mom and hair in therapy.
      It is totally valid for her to like her long blonde hair.
      But, she DOES talk about their mom favoring her hair, spending hours brushing it, etc. If Mom was often neglectful, but the hair IS the way OP got attention, it's also possible there's a tangle there that needs unraveling at some point. (Honestly, see Tangled/Mother Gothel)
      She might still like her long blonde hair in the end. That's cool. I'm just seeing....at least yellow flags.

    • @MissCaraMint
      @MissCaraMint 11 месяцев назад +81

      @katyvanhouten1487 I think you also have to consider that as the youngest she grew up under the inevitability that she would “ have to” cut her hair. So there is no room for her own autonomy here. Either she does what her mom wants or she does what her sisters want. Where does she get to do what she wants with her own hair in all of this? As much as the older sisters are rebelling against their mother forcing them to have long hair, the younger sisters doesn’t want to be forced to cut it. She has no way to rebel and do her own thing in this scenario at all.

    • @IzRainaYall
      @IzRainaYall Месяц назад

      @MissCaraMint I do see both points. I think the reasoning for the sisters is the mothers perspective is going to be "ah at least one of my children have this beautiful blonde hair" which is why they want her to cut/dye but after the youngest said she didn't want it because she loves her hair they should have accepted that even if they knew their mother would think that way. Imo I think this mother only care for their hair and neglect in every other way made them think when they cut/dye it they're "winning" maybe not the best choices of words but it might be freeing for them and a way to actually get through to the mother since that's the only thing she cares about and forces the mother to see that her children do not like her. I think that they wanted her to have this and also for all of them to and the final sibling cutting her hair would make the mother realize her issues and cry nd give them some reaction. Overall when this sister said she didn't do it they shouldn't have accepted that instead of being angry bc I agree that they did the thing their mother did by using a hair as a controlling factor. Her deciding to keep her hair is not her picking sides and I get why it could be upsetting to the sisters but their feelings are not the youngest or anyone else's responsibility but their own.

      @hashgmrs Год назад +74

      Yeah that first one was super weird. There has to be a looooooooot more there. There is resentment being passed from a relationship dynamic shift from the sisters to the kid. Maybe they had been much closer before the marriage and now with the baby they see each other less? That could subconsciously have someone recoil from a root cause of the situation.

      @@nadiamarie9833yea, that felt... weird. it's like very much this "be the bigger person" idea idolizing kindness at any cost. but sometimes empathy is not a solution. it's a hook luring you in to become ensnared by a venomous trap. and that's one of those situations where you just can't expect kindness from someone. (and that was a big mix of metaphors)
      like, if they found it in themselves to see her as a tortured soul likely suffering from her own traumas that led her to be this woman, see her as rather pitiful instead of monstrous. I'd consider that great! a wonderful thing, as long as they kept keeping eachother safe from her and didn't underestimate the lengths she's willing to go to, whatever those are.
      However
      It's not something you can expect or mandate from someone. Their cruelness is as much cruelness as refusing to respect a police officer is disrespect. In a sense it is, yet it's not just acceptable but necessary. the negative tone to it has to fall away.
      I do want to give Courtney the benefit of the doubt tho and assume she just had a gut reaction to hearing of a person being hurt, likely thinking of their own much kinder mother who they wouldn't want to see hurting for anything in the world, and unwittingly projected that lense onto it. Feeling too baffled by it to really parse it. But it definitely is very victim blame-y and shows that they haven't had to deal with a person that level of toxic. Good for her but jeez what a take.

      @@nadiamarie9833 my thought, which I had assumed is where Courtney was going as well (but obviously I can't speak for them), was that the motive behind it shouldn't be to see her cry. That just sounds sadistic to me. I love that they are using the dyeing/cutting of their hair to represent them becoming their own persons, but that's all it should be; it should be about them, not the mother. Ideally, their intent behind it wouldn't be to hurt the mother but to free themselves of the mold she put them in instead.
      I'm not them, so I don't know the full situation, but it sounds like they are continuing that cycle of hurt (as was also brought up in the video). The mom was abusive, yes, but you can't heal pain with pain. It won't make you feel good unless you also enjoy actively hurting people.

The youngest has the least knowledge of the past and is the easiest to manipulate. They probably never said they do it to make the mother cry that's her interpretation (or her mom's). It also seems like she's trying to maintain her mom's admiration which okay.

I've done pretty much nothing at the traditional age other people do. I've only had one boyfriend my entire life and that was four years ago and he was abusive as shit. I've never had a job because of how bad my chronic pain is. I often don't feel like a human being. The added reaction of most people saying that living with your parents is the sign of a loser or unsuccessful person isn't helpful to what I have going on already. I'm working on more independence and getting more active because some positive changes have happened recently. However, I'm not someone that could probably ever live by myself, always with a roommate or partner. I had parents who overcomplimented my brother's every achievement while glossing over mine because he didn't often have "easy" successes (due to a learning disability) while I did. His B's would always go on the fridge, my A's would always go in a drawer. While it may make sense in the moment for a parent to want to build up a child that struggles, there were unintended consequences for me. It definitely was a seed for my adult imposter syndrome that downgrades and undermines every milestone I have. Meanwhile my brother cannot stand not being the center of attention because of his upbringing of constant praise and encouragement. My takeaway is that you need to be mindful as a parent in how you define "equal treatment" of your kids, because it can easily come off as favoritism.

    • @marije8562
      @marije8562 Год назад +4

      I have the same thing! My brother is autistic and he is for sure my mother's favourite child, the way she always compliments him. For stupid things, too, like clearing his plate. He is not stupid, does not have learning disabilities, just autism (what used to be asperger's syndrome). Meanwhile I was an honours student, literally achieved awards for being the kid who kept the "problem" class together, and my mother just celebrates my brother's normal things that he can already do since he was 6. He is now a misogynistic asshole because he has never been told "no" and it was always up to me to fix any fight we had, when I literally never started anything. Oh, and he got a tutor for his French classes whilst I was left to figure out physics on my own, which I was struggling with.
      So... This turned into a rant, but this gets me angry. I haven't spoken to my brother for a year now because of his latest misogynistic rant, and neither have I spoken to my mother because, like always, she wants ME to apologize to HIM when he was literally threatening me and all I did was say "I don't agree, you are wrong."
      I only found out others have been through the same thing as I have, too, because my therapist told me about facebook groups of siblings of special needs. There are subreddits with similar stories, too. It helped me out tremendously. I recommend r/siblingsofspecialneeds and r/siblingsupport .

When I was still living at home with my multiple siblings, we also formed alliances whenever soap and toilet paper and other things were running low and our parents couldn't pay for it. For the misogynist brother, it feels like he's gotten this worldview where women are only good for housework, but men are supposed to be the absolute best at everything else. He's got such high expectations for what he "should" be that he can't ever actually reach. Meanwhile, he sees his sister being reasonably happy and successful, and that completely breaks how he thinks the world is supposed to be. That's why he's complaining that she's being too womanly - if she was more masculine and playing into the role that men are supposed to take, then it would fit into his worldview. Of course she's being successful - she's acting like a man and men are successful.

      DUDE EXACTLY WHAT I WAS THINKING, also I don't think it's necessarily misogyny, as a person who lives with a brother exactly like this he has a very general world view where one group should have one goal in life, I'm bi and have a boyfriend, and multiple times he's acted like it's insane that I'm going anywhere in life and also that we have an extremely stable relationship, he acts like it's crazy that my mom is incredibly successful, and he even has said that he just cares about my parents because they fund things for him and give him food, and he won't care once he leaves, long story short I think it's a weird simplification of the world and how it functions rather than just misogyny

    Hot take on the wedding planner one. I honestly think the sister was super insecure about her wedding, and deep down, she knew it wasn't going to last. She wanted her brother to tell her otherwise, but once he confirmed her insecurity she flipped out because she wanted to stay in this fantasy that her partner was right for her. If you were confident enough in your relationship, you wouldn't ask, especially to someone you know is jaded in the industry.

However, I NEVER had the sense he didn’t like me as a child! He definitely limited his overall interactions with us to his personal wheelhouse if entertainment (he restores classic cars for a living so he’d show us around his shop or take us for a ride) and set firm boundaries (he wasn’t a sit-on-my-lap, piggy back ride, or rough housing uncle). but he never straight up ignored us or treated us like we didn’t exist. My older sister and I (half siblings, same dad but different mom) are only two years apart. Apparently my dad used to say I was his concert pianist and she was his serial killer (tbf she is very spoiled and was bratty as a kid and always liked ordering me around). I do love my sister and wish we could talk more now that we’re both much older and more mature. But we also just don’t have much in common. She was a popular girl at her school and I was the socially awkward nerd at mine. I think what my dad used to say was just a joke but I don’t think we’ve ever really been compared to each other (unless you count her throwing a tantrum when she didn’t get her way and me just standing there awkwardly). But I was also spoiled as a child. However my parents didn’t bow to my every whim, they would put limits and vetos on things. Grandparents did most of the spoiling lol since I was their only grandchild, but even they had limits too. Her mom just gave her everything she wanted.
