my dad was literally dying during the birth of my sister, and he made them wheel him from the emergency room to see my mom and sister, before going unconscious and having to be wheeled back to the emergency room. to hear that this dougebag doesnt want to be there for such an important moment is an outrage.

@@David-cc8xe i would say baby being born, like the week before would be best to take off (the body is ramping up) and then definitely after for as long as possible. the side effects of birth last for around 2 years including spinal, ribcage, and more. directly after birth you are peeing yourself, can't wipe yourself after pooping and leak.

@herb_rolls yeah i was just talking with my wife, wich we had 3 kids together and she did not need me a week before. Her mother even asked her to come over before they were born and she did not want anybody there. She was doing fine. All 3 births lasted max 3 hours, did not even tear once. I took 6 weeks off after each off them to be there for her and to be with my babies. And i was getting up at night to let her sleep. She did not need me to be there a week before. And after 3 kids i think we know what we are talking about thank you very much

I mean if you have problem with weight skipping breakfast is the best thing you can do. But first of all how does him not eating breakfast have anything to do with the pregnant lady? And second of all, exactly. If you don't eat/need breakfast than you could have left the two fucking doughnuts alone.
The fact that he ate 4 doughnuts in the span of 30 minutes is still baffling to me. Like at the start of the story I though he would say we had doughnuts so I ate two instead of one, which is understandable. BUT YOU EAT FUCKING 4 DOUGHNUTS INSTEAD OF 2? Right?? That guy's argument about wanting to save up money for after the baby is born is immediately nullified by the fact that his boss was going to give him PTO for as long as he needed. So he was going to make the same amount of money whether he was at work or not (unless he took on a bunch of overtime, which it sounds like he wanted to do since he asked for more work).
Bottom line, I would've been so angry with my husband if he wanted to make himself so unavailable when we were having our daughter. He was there for the entire process (I had a scheduled induction so none of the time I was in labor was a surprise). The whole thing was largely uneventful until it was time to start pushing, but just knowing my husband was with me no matter what showed me what kind of man he really is.

Pertaining the "I hide my personal life at work" story: I've actually been in deep hiding for a long period of my life. My relatives actively sought out my family to hurt us to a point that when my mum was spotted in the parking lot of her work she got a new car 3 days later(it was a process). I don't use my real name or even my nickname online, I don't list nearby areas to me, I don't have pictures online, my family's names are secrets, my job history is only presented in vague stories offline or on resumes, etc. I'm VERY private and secretive for a very specific reason. While the lady of the story isn't a case like mine I can 100% see why outing someone's private details like that is extremely damaging and can be potentially life threatening. If my relatives had ever found me and my family they would have continued to torture us and kill our animals again and this story really brought trauma back up. Everyone is all "It's weird to be private" without understanding that everyone who's private to that degree has a reason. Hers just happens to be a split life for her mental health. It is odd and absolutely should NEVER be pushed.

The woman who didn't say she had kids was relatable, because mother's get discriminated against at work. If you say you have a dentist appointment it will go over a lot better than saying you want to go do something for your kids. It wouldn't matter if you were a father, but if you're a mother they start to wonder if you'll be able to balance your work with your kids. Women avoid mentioning kids during job interviews for this reason. It harms your work prospects.
Edit: If you're married people also ask you if you're going to have kids soon. Employers worry about needing to give you maternity leave soon, but they won't usually say that outright. If your single, they wouldn't automatically assume you'll get pregnant.

He clearly isn't a tea expert like he claims. this is pretty basic stuff. Not only are they different teas, but they even require different water temperatures, and usually steeping time as well. This guy clearly doesn't know as much as he thinks he does, which puts into question his entire side of the story since he reported her to HR for "lying" about tea, when she clearly wasn't. It really is the Dunning-Kruger-effect in action. Imagine being so confident about a topic that you report someone to HR for correcting a wrong idea you have. No wonder she doesn't want to talk to this guy. He must be insufferable. She obviously has no issue with the other guys at her work place. Amazing. Also, I have a fart story:
I used to work construction, and was foreman for a crew building a power plant in Pennsylvania; in this particular instance, my crew (consisting of one of my roommates, and 5 or 6 of the best damn hands a guy could hope for) and I were all inside a boiler in a tunnel-like area that was about 3ft x 2ft x 40ft, wrapping some welded pipes for heat treatment, and my roommate had been eating red beans and rice for 3 days.
Long story short, there were 6 or 7 dudes crammed in this little tunnel, my roommate at the head of the hairiest, sweatiest, human centipede since that one where there were in that prison, and a slight breeze from the far side of the boiler.
Out of nowhere, Roommate goes, "Sorry guys," and before I could think to ask why he was apologizing, I was gagging. I'm glad we hadn't turned the heaters on yet, or we might've jump started the gas turbine and lit up half of Scranton.
By the way, if any of my pwht or civil guys are reading this, I wish you all a fond howdy and a hearty handshake.

@@thespankmyfrank Like Spencer said. We all do it, but to announce it to others? That's cringe. Also, it's not your story to tell or give out. They had a reason they didn't want to share. You're not entitled to other people's lives. You have to learn to deal with your disappointment from it lol

That’s like how my parents didn’t tell anyone at their office (both lawyers) about their plans to adopt a baby (me). It wasn’t until I was actually born that my dad went to his boss’s office and told him he’d need time off because he just adopted a baby, and he enthusiastically shook his hand and was so happy for him. Word spread around their offices and my parents received gifts for me from their coworkers for weeks afterwards. It was very kind.

I mean, to be fair, crying in the walk-in freezer is a completely normal experience of working at a restaurant. At least once a day somebody's going to cry in a walk-in, that's just going to be a given at any restaurant. And he is right, the walk-in is a very good place to cry

Its actually weird how if you MEET at a job, new friendship and life long relationships (platonic or romantic) can form. But if you are ALREADY dating or married, and then work together, its a fucking nightmare and ruins everything lol

    • @toaster400_
      @toaster400_ Год назад +21

I feel like it’s cause when you meet at a job you’ve already learned how to work well together. Likely you were great coworkers to each other first, and then the relationship formed.
Vs being together and the starting a job you have no idea of how to work together in a job environment.
Plus especially when one of you already was working there?? You would join and immediately gravitate towards them and can end up isolating yourself from other coworkers and smothering each other.

For the donut guy, why did he automatically assume the two 'spare' donuts were his anyways? What about the other 10 coworkers presently there? Even if the pregnant lady didnt show, it doesnt mean those donuts were his.

I think it's common for people to find out that women are parents and treat them differently, and especially over the years it kind of becomes exhausting. It sounds like it's really important to her to have that time outside of the house and socializing with other adults but I do think it's sad that culture is such that people feel like they can't share that info without being fully treated differently than men with kids or people without kids.
