He really likes Bella but she doesn't really reciprocate his feelings because you know 100 year old vampire dude. Eventually Bella and Edward have a kid, who they named "Renesme" (not sure if that's how it's spelled). So when Jacob sees this LITERAL BABY for the first time, he "imprints" on her, which basically in werewolf terms means that they're fated mates (EW). So the joke is that he couldn't have the mom, so he has the mom's child, like the guy in the story.

The story about the sister offering her bed to her brother and his partner was so odd. Its such a strange thing to be uncomfortable or upset about. And its especially sad that she was lovely enough to offer her own apartment while they stay in town, and yet her family and friends ganged up on her and said she was in the wrong. When she literally went above and beyond to be kind and accommodating
I wouldn’t say above and beyond. That is the standard for most (sane) people, especially siblings, which just makes their reaction all the more weird and I’m low key concerned about the possible reasons behind their behaviour

They're not "charging him" for the thanksgiving dinner. They're splitting the cost. The sister didn't host, they decided to have a dinner together. It just happened to take place at the sister's house.
Yeah but it sounded like a potluck… plus I’ve never heard of charging/splitting the bill for a homemade Thanksgiving meal, especially a family one. You pay for your own ingredients to make your own dishes, which you bring. At least, that’s my understanding of it.

It’s one of those situations where I don’t think anybody is the asshole, but if the brother doesn’t want to pay then the issue should be dropped.
They planned on splitting up the work ahead of time, and the brother took responsibility for the turkey. If that’s the only thing agreed upon beforehand, there’s no reason to expect that you’re responsible for the turkey AND for splitting the total cost of the meal.
Plus, OP has a lot of power to control the narrative. OP got to have a fun afternoon cooking with their sister and letting the turkey get cold; the brother got to sit around for hours waiting for the food to finish. OP was eating as the food came out, but it sounded like the brother didn’t eat until the full meal was served.
Overall, it sounds like the brother put in the effort to share half a day with his two siblings and instead spent most of the day hungry and alone at his sister’s place. Who would want to pay for that?

The story with the person offering her apartment for her sibling and partner to stay at, and offering her couch and bed, made me legit upset. The way the family ganged up on her? That has all the red flags of a narcissistic family system with this girl clearly being made as the scapegoat. I feel so bad for her. As the black sheep and scapegoat of my also narcissistic family, I can totally relate. It's one of the hardest things being in that position. Family is supposed to love and care, but also be understanding and appreciative, not point fingers and shame and blame one person for the slightest undeserved disappointment.
I’ve stayed at my brothers house before and slept in his roommates bed because he (the roommate)went out of town. He even washed all the sheets, blankets and pillowcases for me. Just like a hotel people!
This is the only other explanation other than the sister being a stripper and not saying anything about it

But Jacob and Bella are essentially best friends so like he's always around. I feel like you can bring a side if it's one you know you're good at, and it's not like. A staple side dish or trying to replace a staple side. No one needs 2 versions of mash potatoes but 2 very different salads are acceptable, you know? Or bring a snack to serve before dinner, like a nice cheese or something.
I always just brought a bottle of wine and some cookies. I figure that can't go wrong unless there was an allergy or alcoholism issue in the family, which was never the case for any of my serious relationships... but it can always be adjusted for with a non-alcoholic sparkling cider and different cookies.

Rosemary is a lot better on roasted potatoes than mashed. Roasemary can be "twig-like" so having a crunchy herb if not crushed properly can be a weird texture in mashed potatoes

Pro cooking tip, if you have burnt the pan- you see dark brown black at bottom, you smell that stinky burnt smell- that dish is no longer fit to serve anyone other than your self or desparados. The burn is literally introducing unwanted carcinogenic agents to the food, it’s now less nutritional and closer to problematic the deeper the burn. If you can smell an off smell, you likely will be tasting it. That’s how it works smell and taste. Are there quick fixes, sure if you are prepared skilled and fast enough. Ex, tomato sauce is scorching, remove from heat , DO NOT STIR, and pour sauce in new pan. Stirring the scorch just distributes the burn from the bottom through the mixture. But, fixes aren’t suitable for holiday meals in my opinion. If you are not a confident seasoned cook or preparer of a dish, refrain from starting your new hobby for gatherings.

The obvious issue about the thanksgiving dinner is wordlessly sending the bill. The financial part should always be discussed explicitly. You could feel things out by instinct and expectations for a **potluck** arrangement, but if you want to **share costs,** you talk about it ahead of time.
This isn't some office party where no one knows each other and the basic expectation is that everyone has to pay for themselves. You don't just expect financial reimbursement in a circle of friends and family without talking about it first.
