The more non-industry related stories Shayne shares, the more I realize he IS a disney princess. Swimming with sharks? Feeding crows? Befriending a squirrel? Get this man a castle in the woods.
I just watched the Oliva butterflies video and the amount of butterflies that landed on him, including on his hand!

To be fair, he didn't befriend the squirrel the squirrel got confused and tried to eat his finger. But from the other stories tell me if he did have food the squirrels would befriend him

You forgot the update to the crow story! If I remember correctly, the neighbors started feeding the crows too, and the crows stopped attacking them. One elderly neighbor fell down in his driveway at some point and the crows saw it and made a ruckus when they saw he couldn't get back up. This alerted the neighbors who went to check what was going on, and they helped the guys who had fallen. It's such a good and wholesome update, I wish it had been included! THe whole neighborhood is now under the protection of crows!
I found that the update is in a different post from the same person. It’s not in the same post so I can understand them not finding it. Once you go to that person’s account to look it takes a bit to fight the crow story posts

I was also coming here to add the update!! They actually got some advice ON the original post to have the neighbors get in on feeding the crows, which is how he brought the crow/neighbor community harmony and yes, eventually saved a neighbors life

Homeowner's Associations feel like a very American form of collective psychosis.
100%. I grew up in a neighborhood with one bc we had a golf course (that my family could not afford to have a membership to and didn't want it, but hey, we got to move to the 'burbs!) and my god. There was litigation going on between homeowners and the HOA constantly for a while 😭
I would rather die than be stuck in an HOA.
It's insane! Even if I found my dream home I'd pass on an HOA SO quickly.
There’s a show called The X files and they have an episode on a HOA where they basically had to follow the rules or the monster would kill them.. idk how this is relevant to our story just something my brain thinks of when HOAs are mentioned

Just wanna say that is beyond extremely unlikely, as someone with a little bit of experience in the world of plumbing, potable water and sewer lines are entirely separate systems. If your water was contaminated with sewage that'd likely mean your entire neighborhood would be and something has gone horrifically wrong with your municipal water to the point it'd be in the history books. Water is extremely important infrastructure so we put an abundance of care into it in the US at least

@@scedrastoffel5142 I know about the actor thing. JP is actually why I first started watching Supernatural, and it took me a while to think of him as Sam. I was specifically referring to the characters as the discussion was around naming the kid Dean.
The two Deans are so vastly different in their values and characters that I find it hard to imagine someone who's seen both shows thinking those are close.

As soon as the crows story popped up, I screamed because I had seen it before! It’s one of my all-time favorites. A bit sad they didn’t share the update, where the neighborhood got in on feeding and the crows helped save one of the elderly community members after they slipped on their driveways.

I think I remember there being an update on the crow story, and that they successfully got the neighbors on board, and the crows started liking the neighbors too. If i remember correctly, at one point some of them even helped save one of the older neighbors having a heart attack by bringing attention to them. So cool.

There was a radio play called THE MURDER. It was about a murder of crows that helped solve the murder of their beloved friend. It was an amazing thing to listen to.
Although the heart attack thing is nice, you really shouldn’t be feeding wildlife. Zoonotic disease transmissions, aggressive behaviors, and habituation to humans and their property are all highly likely from it. Also, the crows do not “like” anybody. They are a source of food. Anthropomorphism has killed animals in the past.

With the steak guy, I have a different take. He should have ordered her the exact same thing immediately to replace it, and eaten the days old one. This way she has a fresher version if and when she wants it and if it turns out she doesn’t he has another steak to eat in a few days. This way he’s not wasting food, being prepared if she does want it and extending the amount of time it’s still good for.
That just seems excessive though. The real answer is just apologizes get a new steak and some flowers and hope she’s able to eat when you get the new steak.
I feel so bad for the one whose new gf smells up close, and I agree- since it's so new that makes it such a sensitive time that's hard to just talk about those things. My partner and I have been together 17 years- we've BEEN THROUGH the depression stinks and bad times, so I can always gently be like "oo I think it's time for a shower this week, you're gettin' a little stinky" and it's not going to come off as an attack/putting them down. But it's hard to maneuver around it especially when you have no idea what exactly is causing the issue.

If I remember correctly, that crow story had an update where the crows ended up potentially saving a neighbor's life. One day an elderly individual slipped and fell on ice in their driveway and the crows caused a ruckus until people looked outside in annoyance, then saw the person on the ground and went out to help. The person wasn't severely injured, from what I recall, just unable to get back up on their own. OP said the neighbors all feed the crows now :)

Lil tip about tonsil stones, they can also be poped out with your finger from the side of your tonsils, and also can hind in the folds, and sides of the tonsil.
Flossing regularly helps prevent them 😊
I use a pimple popper tool. NOT USED OF COURSE lol. I never knew there was an actual fold(?) or pocket type thing where your tonsils are lmao. They also hide in little holes. I don't get them as often as I used to, but this lil tool works wonders! it's like 2 dollars at wal mart lol. Chop sticks also work very well😂

I don't think it's wrong of her to want to name her child after a TV show character she likes. However, Dean is a pretty whack name, imo. The best exercise for naming a child should start with saying the name over and over again. Imagine yourself saying the name out loud while thinking about your child. If it's weird, then that's name doesn't fit. And, to me, Dean always just sounds like a nickname. Daniel is close enough, I think it should be fine. Or, another compromise would be to let the child's middle name be Dean, but then his first name shouldn't start with a D.

I have a classmate named Dean and even being a fan of supernatural my first thought was never like "ah like Dean Winchester" bc Dean is a fairly regular name. When I was pregnant, I had 3 breakdowns over food. It was hard to get myself to eat something but when you want something a certain way and it’s taken away it feels like the end of the world. It’s hard to be pregnant and hard to know what to anticipate being the pregnant person and the pregnant persons partner

the last story was so bittersweet, i could tell from the second update and how OP pivoted sooo suddenly on how delicately they were approaching their ex gf that they were clearly going through much more than they let on. i’m glad she was able to maintain a friendship with her ex, and lovely to see that it seems like she has a therapist who knows how to get through to her

Portlander here, I've got crow buddies that like to follow me around my apartment complex because I used to feed them ever day. They're hilarious and amazingly intelligent creatures.
when i lived in seattle, i always fed the council of crows. living in oahu now and miss them so much.
I have a group of crows that I feed. They’ve brought me little decorations from my neighbors’ yards and a few scrunchies. lmao

There was an update to that story, basically the neighbours started to feed the crows as well and it later helped bring attention to an elderly person that had fallen, the crows were making a lot of noise round the person that it led to neighbours finding him
I moved from the Midwest to Portland last year and I was shocked by how many crows there are! So the second that story mentioned ‘crows’ and ‘Portland’ I was like yup that tracks haha

Oh my gosh, Morgan and I LITERALLY said 'yes' at the same time on the pregnancy leftovers story. Poor gal 😂. The sad walk back with applesauce got me though. I've had two kiddos, and I was SUPER sick with my first one. I get it, hope things went well for her! Poor guy too! The first trimester is tough for dad-to-be too since it's all new to him and he legit has no idea what's going on.
My OBGYN is a man, and he and his wife have five kids. His literal career is to take care of pregnant women and help deliver babies, and he said even he was at a loss when his own wife was pregnant the first time 😂

Squirrel story: My dad saved a baby squirrel that fell down from a tree and nursed it to health. He took it to a vet to get it all cleared and kept it for a while. It would climb him like a tree and play with him. It would even come when he called. Eventually though he noticed owls in his neighbor hood and worried that it would get taken so he returned it to an area with lots of squirrels to keep it safe. (safety in numbers)

Yeah, no it’s still leftovers. You can be as pedantic as you want but it doesn’t change the fact that it’s leftovers. Communication is important and if you have specific boundaries set in a relationship, you need to communicate before changing those boundaries. It would’ve been very easy to say hey, don’t eat my steak. And it doesn’t work the other way around because there’s a pre-existing rule.

I'm not convinced that the last OP isn't the one that actually smells. She talks about being close to homelessness and having mental health issues. She could be smelling her own breath when she's up close and personal to the other girl. Because I'm sorry, but you smell things like that from other people from farther away. On yourself? That's hard to do. And her having her warm, hot dog breath reflected in an enclosed space could be what she was smelling. Also, the girl immediately coming back with "we need to talk". She for sure is gonna tell OP that she smelled dog sh*t on her breath 😂
Honestly wouldn't be surprised by that. My personal guess is that something about becoming official sparked an internal panic in OP and they were finding any excuse they could to end the relationship.

@@randomtology I was thinking that too. Mental health is a tricky thing and when you struggle with depression, feeling happy is almost a negative emotion. But from personal experience I also know that when I'm by myself, I don't notice when I smell, and when I go to a new environment, I can notice it right away. Like how smokers don't smell smoke on themselves or in their house or how people with pets don't smell their pets, but when you go to a house that has dogs or cats you can usually tell?

I wonder whether the smelly girlfriend story might be due to a smelling issue with the OP? There are nose conditions where you turn good smells into bad smells so maybe they might be experiencing some sort of medical issue. I hope they figure out some sort of solution bc I do think that its not just bad hygiene because even as someone who has severe mental health issues and has gone weeks without showering sometimes, I've been told I smell by family but its always a dirty scent rather than like actual shit.

I've had a friend that did this same thing and it was ultimately a fear of commitment. OP having intimacy issues/trauma (no judging, I'm ace!) explains a lot, I'm glad they talked to their therapist
i love the crow story, i used to live outside of Seattle where UW did some wetland restorations and there were like 10,000 crows that would fly overhead every night. i made the mistake of throwing some food off my balcony for them and then at least a hundred crows landed outside of my apartment every night till i moved

I fed a squirrel a cookie at Epcot once when I was a kid, it was so cute! My mom was annoyed that we spent all the money on flights, hotel, parks, etc and all I could talk about was feeding the squirrel. Lol

Lucky! My whole lifes goal is to domesticate a squirrel they are such lovely enchanted creatures
So we went to the zoo when I was little and this little squirrel followed me for what felt like hours (but was probably only a few minutes, I was young) and it’s all I could talk about all day. I talked my mom into spending a ridiculous amount of money on a stuffed squirrel because I kept talking about getting a pet squirrel all day lol… I still have that stuffed squirrel, it’s named Scamper
