    To those of you interested, I purchased and received my 83-inch S90c direct from Samsung yesterday and got it hooked up last night. And I have to say I love it! I have a 55-inch S95c in another room and while I'm sure it's brighter, the 83-inch looks amazing to me. I have zero regrets with the purchase.

      I'm still deciding, Samsung is offering a deal for $2,799 two years warranty and free mounting, but I was concern since there's no reviews, is it dark as the C3 ? I have an LG OLED in my bedroom and is just too dark at times. expand a bit more on how it looks :)

    I bought one of these on Black Friday - also definitely didn't realize that WOLED is display technology than the excellent reviews for the smaller QLED models. That being said my wife and I very are much enjoying the TV (we upgraded from a 2nd gen 65" Samsung 4k TV) and the large size is important to us for our living room as we want to place our couch a bit aways from the display to open space and also replicate a movie theater experience. While the QLED 77in model might be marginally superior in terms of brightness and perhaps some other specs I really don't see myself returning it as it's worth it for the extra size and this is definitely one of the best >80IN models available.

    Strange how they didn't just call it an S85C or something. To use the sams model name as their QD-OLED line is very confusing for customers. I'm sure this was done on purpose tho to drive up more sales but at the same time it's deceptive if the customer has no knowledge of this.

    Hi Fomo
    I don't remember which video, but I saw someone saying that Samsung officialy doesn't support "Dolby Vision", however when the content was played from an Apple TV box, it shows that Dolby Vision was active on Samsung. I might have heard it or understood it wrong. Is it like, S95C is capable of playing DV content but just it is not certified by Dolby? or it doesn't support at all. Some light on that will might help in the right purchase decission.

    Hey FOMO will the 83 inch LG OLED for 2024 have MLA? If so, that could be a winner because they're not making 83 inch QD OLED's next year, correct? In the vast majority of content, the difference between LG's MLA TV's and S95C is very very subtle

    That green frog in the Samsung demo loop shows you exactly why you DON'T ever want to buy a Samsung TV - at any level of their model lineup: ridiculously oversaturated and over boosted colors (right out of the box by default) that you then have to go into the menus to try and figure out how to fix! One look at that horrible demo loop content of theirs and you'll instantly know why Sony is far and away the better option for your new TV due to its far more accurate and natural looking colors. And, that's before you even get into the absolute confusing mess that is Samsung TizenOS.

  • @n1c3g4i
    @n1c3g4i 9 месяцев назад +2

    @FOMO I see Samsung has it on sale for $2799 if you have EDU/EPP discount. Think it's a good value with the W-OLED panel? Also, when are you getting one so we can get the true insights from the man himself. 😄

    • @stopthefomo
      @stopthefomo  9 месяцев назад +2

      YES! many of our viewers have gotten this deal if they're AAA members! Alas, I don't plan on getting one mostly because Samsung is just liquidating these at firesale prices as a loss leader so as long as it works, the image quality should still be better than any similarly priced LCD TV! Do not get this tv for "critical viewing" but rather as a stepping stone to "what's all the hubbub about OLED??"

    For the "Luxury" Apartment life, even with big walls and very high ceilings. For us 75inches and 77inches for the OLEDS are the max and plenty big for our rooms. If anything we'd possibly upgrade the 75inch SONY X95K in our living room, but it has such great sound and gets plenty bright enough for all the light in there it would have to be a special tv to replace it at this point. Maybe Black Friday week 2024 for anything worth it at the 85inch size..

      If you are ENJOYING IT please keep because you are now used to the immersion of 83" and will feel a loss going smaller (albeit slightly more vibrant) TV - you can always reach out to Samsung and ask for the extended warranty if you haven't already done so (you can use the WRGB as leverage because you thought you were getting QD-OLED)

      Andrew: Where did you order the S90C from to get it at that price? (And who was "the guy" you spoke with?) I was about to get the 85" sony X90L at BBY for $2000 price. With the 83" Samsung S90C, getting what appears to be the equivalent of the 83" LG C2 or C3 at well under $3k is VERY tempting.
      FOMO: Is my comment about basically getting a 83" LG C2 or C3 clone with the 83" S90C accurate? Thanks to you both...

      Got it at Video Only their located in OR, WA & CA. I'd have to check my receipt for the clerks name, listed price was $3500 but then then knocked off $800 bc I brought in my crappy old TV then asked if he could just do an even 1k off and said yes!!!

    I bought the 77” last week and today I bought the 83”. With AAA discount and $100 coupon from Samsung it was $3499 and they are giving away a free Samsung 32” frame TV with purchase of a 83” S90C. It’s replacing a 77” LG CX so I expect it to an upgrade in picture quality. I got the 77”S90C for my bonus room and I’m loving it. Wish the 83” was QD OLED panel but oh well. It’s going in living room for the kids and wife to use and I have the 77” for myself upstairs to game on so it works out for me. Not gonna lie I almost got the G2 at Best Buy but I saved $500 and got a free 32”TV so it worked out.

      @@sinjb6206 Hey I love my S95B, but I had to hack the service menu just to love it like I do, by calling their 83" an S90C they are intentionally misleading people into thinking it's the same thing, sure you and I know different, and anyone here with the interest we have in this technology, but many people who hear the buzz word of QD-OLED will be under the assumption that it will be one and the same since the model has the exact same designation minus the screen size, combine that with the fact that they intentionally left "QD-OLED" out of the actual series with the qd panel by just calling it an OLED to make people that don't know any better think that it just has to be awesome simply because it's a Samsung OLED without clearly distinguishing the difference so people will assume any Samsung OLED has to be awesome just because the ones they saw with a QD panel kicked so much ass, that ain't very cash money of them, how hard would it be to switch a single letter or number to prevent this confusion? It was the deceitful intent that I don't care for here, that's all, one last factor to account for, 83", who tf is going to bother returning that monster after getting it set up regardless of their disappointment if they were dissatisfied? Samsung knows this game all too well, even if half of them get returned the extra sales generated from this kind of mislead will still make them a killing, bad business practice just as it was nerfing the S95B with updates if you ask me

    LG G3 65" or Sony A95L 65". Waiting to see both in person and the king of tv shootout in August then buying time in September for the NFL season. I like LG, have a C9 now and still works great. But I got the itch for MLA or QD-OLED. Its all about picture quality. I watch youtube tv and 4k bluray movies primaraly, no gaming for me, so low bit rate sdr upscaling is a important factor. Wish the Sony had 4 hdmi 2.1 ports but i can get by with 2. G3: proven panel & tech (wrgb) plus 5 year pannel waranty, priced fairly for new top of the line tv. A-95L: wider more vivid colors, probably the best proccessing buy a little, Con: qd oled is only second gen, still worry about long term burn in issusses, and of course the infamaous Sony tax. Decesions, Decesions, only one thing fore sure, no to Samsung because of build quality, them nurfing thier tv with firmware updates, Tizon operating system sucks and no Dolby Vision. Your thoughts?

I may have missed it but, can you elaborate about the differences between the S90C from Best Buy and the S90CD from Costco???? I’m particularly interested on the 77” model. Besides the warranty, I believe there are other differences between those. Some say it is related to the screen, some say it is related to the audio. I’m not sure but, I read that the one from Costco comes with a more powerful audio system. Can you clear this up for is looking to get one? Thanks a lot!
