‘Pocket Full of Pills’: Alex Murdaugh Fed Addiction with Dozens of Pills Per Day

- Опубликовано: 23 фев 2023
- Prosecutor Creighton Waters asked Alex Murdaugh for more details about his addiction to opiates. The disgraced lawyer testified the number of pills he took each day varied anywhere from a dosage of 1000mg to 2000mg. “I had a pocket full of pills,” Murdaugh said claiming he had the substance on him while talking to police on June 8, 2021, shortly after his wife and son were murdered.

When they cant convince you, they'll confuse you.
They'll "try" to confuse you.
He's tryin!
Prosecution and defense are confusing things. Hung jury.
Good point
Baffle them with b.s.
Can't blame drugs for everything bad, especially something as serious as murder. People scare me.
Yee its easy to blame everything else than themselves
Drugs will definitely bring you down low enough to murder someone is that an excuse? No!
Yes. No pills on earth will make anyone do first degree murder.
well it's only prosecution that could blame his drugs use for murders, since they don't have enough evidence for the initial argument that they developed in opening statement ... anyways, we will see
True, so true!
Alex displays LOTS of spontaneous energy and animation when remembering how sick he was when he used a different pain pill, yet has next to no recall regarding personal conversations he had or physical interactions he shared on the day his wife and son were murdered.
Well I’m not saying he is telling the truth but one is exclusive to the other they are not the same type of memories at all. And you’ve gone through what he is recalling multiple times if not hundreds but the day of the murders is just one single incident
@@lsuronak1992 Not until Paul's Snapchat was revealed in court, did Alex remember to mention having been at the kennels minutes before half his family was murdered. His memory is very "exclusive" indeed.
I am not making excuses for what he did but as an ex addict I understand why he remembers the drugs. That's why addiction is so hard to get over. Your brain only remembers the good times when you are high to pull you back.
I don't care how addicted he was. Many people are addicted. They don't blow anyone's brains out. He blames everything on the drugs and yet he claims they made him function better. Which is it??
That's the truth. I'm sick and tired of people blaming their nasty reactions on drugs.
He isn't saying DRUGS made him do it!!
@ Donna Bittner I don’t agree. I believe Alex is enjoying discussing his alleged drug use and thinks it’s his way out of this dog and pony show.
Professional LIAR
His choice of words gets me - I allowed my staff to be misled. He makes it sound like he allowed someone else to do it! He's just not that sorry despite his admissions
Woah. While I heard him say those words, the importance of their meaning completely whooshed over my head. Thanks for pointing that out.
Narcissists are never sorry for the pain they caused. That's why he's deflecting when being asked questions. Going on tangents, repeating the question back to Waters before he answers. AM is caught up in the web he weaved, & now he can't get out.
Alex is detached. In denial over murdering his wife and son. LOVES discussing his alleged drug addiction. Trying to charm the jury with his victim role. Alex rattles on and on. Nothing but lies.
He is well-versed in the court room and I believe he's doing that on purpose
Um that's how addicts talk.. it's not that he isn't sorry, it's that the person he was at that time wasn't him. None of this addiction & stealing has to do with murdering anyways the prosecution is boring me.
He could have done so much good for his family and town- but he let the power, money, drugs take over, such a sad situation for all the victims.
Crook
Unfortunately no matter how much money you have - this monster addiction does not discriminate and it’s for sure a disease
That applies to all wealthy people!
Opiates😈 but the pharmacist will give them to you. So that’s OK isn’t it……….. 😈😈😈😈😈😈😈
The addiction was def his downfall and created a monster
He is lying now like he has lied before… cannot change that in a person… crooked keeps doing crooked things. Police should be investigated what they did all these years that things were going around this family … it’s unbearable and unbelievable to think that Paul was still using arms when he was guilty of a crime
ABSOLUTELY!
Agreed cops swept 🧹
Agree. Paul wasn’t convicted yet; I think his trial was coming up. He was indicted though on several felony accounts.
His own lawyers look at him like " what the h*ll Alec" .
They oughta check if any psychologists were consulted for addiction in the area. Perhaps mother and son were planning an intervention, and confronted him instead.
The text messages support your theory, so I totally agree with you!!!💯✊🏾
That’s not why he murdered. He murdered for the family and to avoid divorce. Maggie would soon find out about all the theft, she would have been ‘embarrassed and left. Most of the property was in her name ( sold for 1$) by Alex. The son caused it all and the public was crying for justice bringing shame. Alex is a criminal! Just listen to his jail calls……all of them. He wasn’t on pills then.
He already had done that a few times tho? Remember what his son said? They already had done a few interventions for him.. he'd gone to rehab I believe twice already. So why would he randomly kill them now?
can't diminish acts by blaming drugs
is he on oxycodone right now
@@iWatier no he is sober now.. also it's the prosecution bringing up his addiction not the other way around.
Court system does it all the time.
Liar. Didn’t bring his phone to the Kennel so he could hide he was NOT at the kennel
I am a critical care nurse. There is no way he could have taken these huge dosages and still be alive. There must have been either selling going on or other unknown activity. He needed money, maybe this is where he was making it. He would have someone else do the selling. I just can’t believe he took these amounts. Withdrawal would have been horrendous, which could easily result in violent behaviour.
Thank you for explaining -- If he was on so many drugs - could he have killed his wife and son and not remembered?
@@Ela-cw7fi If you take those amount of drugs, you're not able to walk.
He is lying about the amount he was taking. Right on, he would be dead and full if poop
@@Ela-cw7fi Absolutely, if he had not taken enough pills. Withdrawal on these amounts would be horrendous. In addition, he would have had a respiratory arrest, on the amounts he was on. These drugs suppress breathing. Tolerance is an factor. However based on the extremely high dosages he was taking it just does not make any sense. Something else is going on here.
@@cq9882 • Hi, I just wanted to respectfully reply to you about the questioning of his intake - I am a LCDC (licensed chemical dependency counselor) and I promise what he’s saying about giving him energy is very much what I witnessed with my ex. My husband is the GM at the Jaguar dealership in Houston and he was literally like a bb in a tin can busy! It didn’t put him on his face. So while I know everyone is different, there is a way to consume that much Rx and function - xoxo, denise
I know the pain. Been on opiates 20 years. Since I was 15. I wanted to stop but withdrawals are scary
He was selling them....$$$$$$$$
Yes, I said that. And something went wrong. it is possible that drug dealers killed his family. Maybe he didn't pay or maybe stole from them. The amount of money he desappeared with is enormous to be just for consumption.
did you take 60 pills per day though
@@011egis I know ppl who did 60-80 a day when they had the money
@@011egis but I use to be bad on them too but I didn’t have money to do but 3-5 30s
1,500 mgs of oxycodone a day is insane. I don't believe someone his age could take that much. He is just saying that high of a quantity so they don't go looking for the money he stashed away for Buster.
💯
It is an insane amount but I believe it. I used to take 10 30s a day and got to a point where I stopped feeling high… I would have taken a lot more if I had the money. If you have the money and access it just turns Into a free fall.
As a nurse I made some comment about this. You are correct, he would be dead on the amount he is saying. He may have had someone selling for him.
Opioid tolerance can go pretty high
Alec couldn’t have possibly consumed that dosage daily. He’d be so severely constipated that his discomfort would be visible.
He’s a clever legal professional who I’d certainly want to fight my battles, (although wouldn’t trust him to pay up). He is very suave and calm, I can see how easily he manipulated his victims.
BUT he is like a child telling you a ridiculous lie, when he’s expecting the jury to believe his consumption of opioids. I do hope that they will follow up with a medical professionals view of his stated self medicated dosages and their side effects. As his functioning would not have been capable at those strengths.
I wonder if his lawyer told him not to ramble and just answer the questions in as few words as possible ? He is very annoying
He gets A+ in Babbling101
How is he even still alive IF he took that many???
U forget u aren’t a millionaire but if u did u would take unlimited amount
He is lying. He would know exactly how much he needed every day. I want to know how he managed the constipation caused by 1000mg-2000mg/day! Gallons of prune juice & miralax??
He’s an attorney. He worked it out with a pencil.
He’s lying about being a pill addict.
Yup he's trying to switch his argument to be about how drugs made him do it. Cyz his other arguments were failing
Agree. Lying about where the stolen money went too. Does nothing but lie. Where is the 8-10 million he stole ? Certainly not for pills.
He maybe lying about the **amount** he was taking but he can describe the effects too well to say he’s lying about having an addiction.
Sorry. Prosecutors let him talk too much. They are hoping for a contradiction but he talks to just talk.
It's working. It's "giving him enough rope", to effectively hang himself.
Changed the entire story to fit with the time WOW
If this DUDE is found NOT GUILTY the jurors should be investigated for STUPIDITY
just because your feelings are hurt it does not mean you are above the way our laws work
I have some reasonable doubt so far. You have to follow the facts 🤷🏼♀️
If he's not guilty I would bet corruption or something. This is so blatantly obvious. The fake enemies, trying to set up his dealer for his family's murders. How tf does someone try to kill themselves by getting shot in the head and then have the time to call 911 lmao
😂
Or jury tampering
CAN this guy give a straight answer??? At this pace, this trail are gonna go on for months. He LOVES talking about his addiction and he is trying to sound like a victim.
He MISLED no one. HE LIED. The prosecution should call him out on that
Your right this is a long trail.
They gave him rope to hang himself.
How many (much) , and what, was he taking for constipation. He would have been highly constipated as opiates cause the villi, which are in your intestines and cause food to be passed through, as well as peristalsis, to be effectively anaesthetised.
2000mg a day, he better have some good laxative. Because I know he couldn't take a s***.
Alex is very good at deflection, and hyper-aware of how he’s being perceived. He’s terrible when it comes to getting away with double homicide and covering his tracks. After stealing from people in need that are suffering a loss of some form, I guess he came to believe he was bulletproof. With a badge.
It took him 10 minutes of explanation to say how many pills he took a day? . . . the jury isn't going to like that. Say you were asked about how many joints a day do you smoke . . . and say you have smoked 20 years, the correct answer would be 1-5 joints on average a day. Easy right. Alex is deflecting.
You literally have no idea what addiction is like. Nevertheless it absolutely doesn’t matter at all how many pills he took. He had opiates in his bloodstream 24/7 enough to make an average person drop dead. But his tolerance was his so high by this time. He was literally
High as a kite for 20 years straight
@@PrinceOfTheCity1 buster is that you?
He just LOVES to hear himself talk!
Please. The poor jurors sat through 2-weeks of prior bad acts already. Most of the evidence in this trial isn’t evidence pertaining to this crime. Now the prosecution is trying to use character assassination to prove murder. This whole drawn out mess is going to end in a hung jury.
@@lstruggy yes I’m his son because I understand opiate addiction. Oh that was a joke? My bad , hahaha You’re so funny ! 😂
He just admitted he was guilty of something bad at the end there. Driving with pills he could convince himself they weren't following him in a matter of seconds but he couldn't convince himself that when they got murdered? I wonder what he felt guilty about then
Because that’s what it seems like every time a rich person does something wrong and they killed somebody they don’t have to go to jail

Did he say he took 100 30 MG oxys a day? Or did I hear that wrong?
Not one answer he gives is simple and direct. He's already admitted to stealing millions from those who trusted him, even from a severely disabled client. His claim he didn't kill is of no value.
He can’t even be honest about how many pills on the day I could take them at night 24 hours a day
Think Alex would have been better off not getting on the stand
murdaugh thinking he should deny being at the kennels at almost the time of the murders is a sign of guilty knowledge. if it happened while he was at his parents' home, why would it occur to him to deny he was at the kennels beforehand? because he KNEW how tight the time line was going to be.
Paul had the nerve to talk about his gfs dad! Look at how big of mess your daddy is! The irony and karma of it all!
Well he is not here anymore so I think that subject is moot. He may have acted like an entitled boy and he may not have always been the best person but let him rest in peace

Yes, the nicknames are so annoying and so strange.
I suffered a brain injury and numerous physical injuries alongside it. I am on 50 mg twice a day. My doctor says he's suprised I can even function on that amount of oxycodone so I have NO idea how this guy could apparently take 1000mg a day without dying.
Righttttt! I’ve had multiple surgeries and was on them for years and got addicted quickly. I’m sober now! But no effin way her took that much!
Right... I was on 300mg before biologic medicine came out.... Usually $2 a gram on the street...1200mg I call b.s. if you don't have pain you would be asleep on those high doses.

How did he even become a lawyer with no ability to recall anything specific. Every explanation is some cockamamie story
How will he survive prison without his pills?
Can almost guarantee he’ll be back on opioids when in prison.
He's already talking about his addiction in the past so I guess it won't be an issue

Even they know he's guilty. 🤷♀️
He probably told his lawyers "guys I'm a GREAT lawyer, let me handle this"
This man is making his trial fucus be regarding pain pills as in his precise explanations.
He says he was taking Oxycodone probably mixed in with some Oxycontin. What??? Oxycodone and Oxycontin are the same thing. Oxycontin is just the brand name and Oxycodone is the chemical.
one is a instant release and the other one is a slow release pain killer, still the same just different absorption.
He’s getting his math wrong. There is no way anyone is taking FIFTY oxy30s in a day. He probably meant to say 500mg a day total which would be around 12 pills per day, which is a lot bc the 30mgs are really strong. You don’t start with 30s. He probably started with 10mgs pills and worked his way up to 30mgs

It's possible
So now people are believing the proven liar?! Pfff. He is lying about EVERYTHING.
They should have a doctor to explain what this kind of dosage would do to a person. Would this kind of dose not kill a person. He is trying to blame everything on his drug use
