I watched the Netflix documentary and as a mom myself it broke my heart when Mallory’s mom asked the police to let her see the boat and where the accident had happened they denied her that because it was a crime scene but when Alex and his wife showed up they let them step all over the crime scene and evidence. not saying his wife and kid got what they deserved but if his son was still alive he would still be living his life as if he didn’t recklessly killed Mallory so at least her parents got a little bit of justice
You’re nicer than I am. I’ll say it- the world had been relieved of three terrible people. Hopefully buster chooses not to continue his families legacy.
Alex’s brother john is no better. The whole Murdaugher gang is bad news. It goes back to their great grand father. It’s just catching up with them. There will be light at the end of their dark tunnel.
@I see do you research. Being feared because somebody has money isn’t the same as being respected. That guy helped with the whole boat situation. Instead of doing the right thing as an adult, he cleaned the whole scene and helped make it go away. He even admitted to it. Randy is the somewhat “normal” Brother.
Just remember she was drinking too on the boat, they all went to bars for more drinks and she with boyfriend got into boat knowing the driver was wasted. This is nothing new. Just look at the statistics on boat accidents and alcohol. They go hand in hand. Young people need to be taught common sense by parents and be responsible.
Nobody is suppose to die like this ok. But I do NOT feel sorry for Maggie OR Paul. Maggie was just as underhanded as her husband and children. She lived by it and DIED by it.
I absolutely cannot stand how this man continued to implicitly blame the family of the girl who was tragically killed on that boat, even in his testimony at trial. He is a piece of sh8t of the highest order.
He even tried to frame Connor Cool for most of it. Look at the witness sketch he tried to pull for the roadside shooting incident. The sketch looked exactly like Connor who they tried to roll over as the driver of the boat.
Narcissistic people are always delusional. I guarantee his “friends” and family would agree. He didn’t just start being a narcissist the night of the murders. The reason narcissists go unchecked is because no one wants to deal with them because we all know it will do no good and those people are exhausting.
Alex was facing a major cash crunch because of Paul and Maggie. The boat trial is coming up and Paul would need a very good lawyer. Maggie wanted to divorce and that alone would cut into half is assets
Did he? Wife was suspicious of him and living separately. His son Paul was living with uncle John Marvin. Lie after lie. His wealth was from hiding money and stealing from many.
Agreed! Too many times these people are exempt from any kind of accountability..if this butthead had been dealt with earlier these folks might be alive
So strange that he kills the one son and his wife, yet he was willing to die so that his other son could get a payout. Like the most extreme selfishness to ultimate selflessness. That's one effed up guy.
If true, there's a reason Maggie's close friends didn't know she had seen a divorce attorney. She knew eventually it would get back to Alex. All these women would have probably told at least one other person until the whole town knew. She apparently knew her friends.
@@DanRagoo how would they know if she went to a divorce attorney? That would be attorney-client privileged information, which does not expire upon the death of the client.
@@DanRagoo so you're saying that her husband, who is also her murderer, would have been reaching out to divorce attorneys around for them to waive that so that the PROSECUTION could use it against him?
You don’t become that rich and highly influential in the community by being a good person. His family has been corrupt for DECADES. Stuff like this has been going on in communities forever.
Paul sounds like he was a big, p.o.s rich kid, but he didn’t deserve to die the way he did. Maggie’s death is even more heartbreaking, she may have had to watch her son die by his father before being brutally killed herself.. Just monstrous. I’m so glad Alex was found guilty. I hope prison is the worst experience of his life.
I've been waiting for this comment. No one deserves to be murdered, but I'm so tired of people automatically becoming saints when they're a crime victim.
@GodspellFlower FR Oh I agree! I could use some pretty colorful language for the entire family, maybe besides the mom. It's nice to see that I'm not the only one with this opinion!
Not only did he accuse one of the other kids on the boat of being responsible for it crashing he then tried to blame one of them or their friends or family for the killing of Maggie and Paw Paw - despicable
It’s ironic that Alex lied on the dogs; said they killed the housekeeper, but it was Bubba the dog who tricked Alex into speaking on the Snapchat video. Good boy Bubba, the dogs have redeemed themselves ❤.
@@jamiegarrett3869 Alex told his insurance company his family dogs made his housekeeper fall down the stairs leading to her death. That was not true. Y'know when they say "Oh he didn't look like a killer" about murderers? Well this guy *LOOKED* like a murderer. Seriously he's got the eeriest hollow eyed grin. 😳
The jury got it right. Alex traded his life of privilege for a jail cell. This is all on him. Now he has the rest of his pathetic life to think about it. I honestly think he will take the cowards way out soon enough.
@D Mercury My brother & I agree with you 💯!!!!! Prison life is going to be WAY different than his little county jail cell WAS!!!!! Especially once he gets targeted & you know what in prison 🙄 🤔....
He might not have to make that choice for himself. He’s going to prison with people his family has put away for generations. Hope he was a better lawyer to them then he was a husband and father. Also hope he truly finds Jesus before meeting him.
The saddest thing is that she was terrified until her last moments. I hope she was unconscious and wasnt struggling under water. This was just so tragic. I pray her family finds peace and comfort
I believe Mallory hit her head and was not aware of her death or pain. Only aware of the hand from heaven reaching for her and the light of God. She was a precious girl who went to heaven. She is safe and enjoying time with grandparents and people who went before her. God is so good !

For Stephen Smith, Mallory Beach and Gloria Satterfield for sure. Less so for Paul and Maggie Murdaugh since they were apparently so unconcerned about Paul's role in Mallory's death.
Paul may have 'testified from the grave' but he escaped the consequences of his own terrible actions and that poor girl's family never received justice for their loss. What a truly hideous family...
Nothing has been mentioned about the bar that the under age boys were served in after walking in already intoxicated. They hold responsibility as far as the law goes.
The bar is included in Mark Tinsley's case on behalf of the Beach family as well as the Parker's gas station where he also bought alcohol that night...Mark Tinsley is NOT leaving anyone out!!!!!
@@emily3 I know from recently completing alcohol certification yes at least here in FL those continuing to serve the obviously very intoxicated do hold some responsibility(I think this now holds true in many states). As is the person at the store sold Paul all that beer off his brother's ID. Yes, they look very similar but for starters as I recall his brother is quite a bit taller. This definitely should've been spotted. I am all for idiots learning from their own mistakes, but can appreciate the reasons behind those serving alcohol being held strictly accountable. Fact is had the establishments supplying them alcohol been diligent & refused them, that beautiful girl Mallory would very likely be alive today. So tragic.
@@pamelafrye4667 not sure about SC but from my recent alcohol certification in FL they most definitely are responsible! If they had done their F'ING job that poor girl would still be alive. 💔
The prosecution in this case was excellent. They built a rock solid case with excellent witnesses and great cell phone data. They've definitely proven beyond a reasonable doubt that he did this to his wife and son.
Disagree, don’t get me wrong, I think he did it but they got lucky with the guilty verdict thankfully. The investigation was botched, the testimonies were shaky at best. Good thing the jury went on their gut feeling (which you’re NOT supposed to do) and found him guilty. This MONSTER could have easily gotten away with this but Justice was served!!
He lied and lied right off the bat...Why lie if you didn't do it?? I smelled a rat as soon as I saw the interrogation videos...His blubbering and carrying on looked fake and put on to me.
Gets caught once, tries suicide one day later. When that fails, tries to make it look like a random attempted homicide. Still failed. Gets caught again, murders his family as an attempt to divert attention SAME DAY. When that fails, claims innocence. Now a woman has come forward claiming she was raped and beaten twice by him. Do I believe her? Absolutely. And someone really needs to investigate the death of their housekeeper that. “ fell down the stairs.” and died. I really think more and more things are going to come to light now that the trial is over.
@@tanyadaniel6704I understand your question about his state of mind. I can tell you for sure however, with lots of personal experience with opioid addiction, that once you are a couple of months in, you don’t get “high” anymore. You merely seek the opioids to remain functional. It doesn’t take long, after a few weeks of continual use, for your brain to start to rely on the opioids, just as it relies on food. The brain stops producing natural dopamine, because the opioids are flooding the opioid receptors beyond their capacity. It’s nothing like being wasted on alcohol,,where one becomes dysfunctional. The rush of dopamine greatly enhances one’s motivation and enthusiasm., without lack of motor control. The derelict addicts we’ve been propagandized to recognize as the “addict” reality,is false. It’s very common to function as normal, but more likely above normal, when dependent upon opioids. They actually enhance abilities in a productive person. As for the downtrodden street addicts, I think that would be their fate, regardless of the substances they’ve ingested.
First words out of his mouth to the cops were "it's a long story." His wife & son are dead, he's talking to the police without an attorney, and he's running his mouth about "long story"
I just noticed something interesting. The bailiff that led Alex away the day of his sentencing was in the courtroom, as a spectator, the day of the closing arguments. He is sitting right behind Alex in a brown suit and yellow shirt.

This guy could have had a comfortable life without stealing people's money. But this man is so selfish, he sacrificed his wife and son to get sympathy and get more time. Everything he was trying to prevent coming to light, ended up coming to light anyway. But he made it worse by killing and stealing more money
Gosh, there's just so many deaths linked to that family! You have the long time housekeeper that died... But was without a doubt murdered for money. Then you have the one Son who was driving the boat that killed the girl. Then there's the boy that was found on the side of the road dead. And the name that kept coming up from people in town, who they say was involved in his death was the Son Buster. Then there's the murders of the Wife and one of his Sons. So it's just INSANE how much tragedy and death is associated with that family! And he's just an absolute despicable human being! Killing his Wife and own Son like that! It's just absolutely APPALLING..... And It's just Satisfying knowing that he can't continue with his Corrupt, Evil, Narcissistic ways anymore!

This whole case has just had me In a chokehold. Everything there is to watch I have watched, I feel like I’ve read every article I could find too. It’s all so awful. And Mallory dying on that boat breaks my heart. She and I had the same birthday so though I have zero connection, I feel connected to her. It’s awful. Truly. I don’t understand why it took them an entire week to find her! It’s insane to me.
@Annie497 Yeah, the boyfriend said that he kept going under the water to try to find her that night after they first crashed, and there was a very strong current he was fighting against. Very sad.
You have to understand the endless miles of waterways in the Lowcountry :creeks, rivers, currents, tides and marshes. It was a miracle she was found at all. I am so glad they did find her...for her family's sake. As a Mother who has also lost a child, my heart breaks for them all, but especially for Mallory's Mom and Dad.
@@terribarrett9381 my family is from Savannah, so I’m very familiar with low country but I still think it’s very sad it took as long as it did. For Maggie and Paul to know the person who was supposed to love and protect them the most was the one who blasted them with bullets and ended their lives, is beyond unimaginable. May they rest in peace, and may AM live a long miserable life for what he did to them.
Every historical picture I see of this guy, he has a look on his face which says to me "I'm terrified. I'm in over my head. Why am I here" Every single picture.
If I was Mallory’s parent and I knew Paul got away with being held accountable for Mallory’s death, just because of who he was, I would want revenge. The people Alex burned probably wanted revenge, too. I wouldn’t be able to sleep at night because of the injustice. They all must be feeling some sense of satisfaction This is the closest to justice that they can come, at this point, even though their daughter can never be brought back and those millions of dollars are gone forever.
"From day 1 ground 0 the effort was, what can we do to get Paul out of this?" Well Paul your dad did a great job, he got you out of it alright, but I don't think you expected him to accomplish that by blowing your head and brains right off your shoulders!
The picture of the dog and footprints on Mallory's head stone really touched me. 10:26 Especially the stone statue of it sleeping. I imagine that pup in the photo was her little baby to her. So sad 🥹🥹
Is anyone going to talk about Buster flicking people off in the courtroom and notes being passed to Alex? They're so used to their evil manipulating ways they entered the court room disrespectfully thinking they can do what they want. Glad justice was served.
Most recovering addicts will take full responsibility for their misdeeds without blaming them on the drugs. While they may not have committed them if they were sober, they still committed them. It's an important step in recovery. Alex can't even do that right. His entire life he made a living at shifting the blame everywhere else than it belonged. Finally it caught up to him and he'll spend the rest of his days next to people who are far better than him which is more than he deserves.

Less than half of 1% of appeals when the convict has testified in their own case win an appeal. Judge Newman has an impeccable reputation and this conviction will stand.
Glad Alex was found guilty and hopefully, he never gets out. This is pure evil. I can't imagine the pain Maggie felt if she saw her son be murdered. Alex deserve to get what he gets in prison.. no remorse for him!!
I was wondering how normal it is for a 45 day evaluation for a "found guilty" defendant before said defendant gets transferred from jail to prison? Seems excessive...is this the norm in S C??
The fact that the Murdaugh family didn't try to reach out to MB's to resolve the boat accident until the Beach family got the courage to sue just says a lot about AM and his family. Five shots to maggie and AM calling her five times🤔. This case will bring what's hidden into light like bogus death certification. Totally disgusting.
Let's not forget that poor housekeeper Gloria Satterfield. She definitely didn't die falling down 4 or 5 steps onto dirt. And Alex now admits that the dogs were not involved in her fall. If he had nothing to do with her death, why would he lie initially and say that the dogs had caused her to fall? ☮️✌️☮️
If you agree Alex was there at the Kennels at 8:43 and we know family guns were used then you have to believe Alex did or at the least heard the gunshots before the time 8:49, It matters not if another did it, only he could tell us what exactly happened
The irony in Alex Murdaugh Testifying thinking he could charm or intimidate the jury 2 going his way an the final nail in the ⚰ was y'all suggesting the jury go 2 the property those 2 things alone convicted you! That's what I call poetic Justice!
He really did think he could talk himself out of a guilty verdict. Cooked his own goose. He had to testify, though, to try and explain away the video at the kennel. Totally unconvincing.
These phones can reveal your guilt or innocence these days. Video evidence and can track your precise location. Most appealing was the fact that it counted his steps around that time. Wow!
1. There was UNDERAGE drinking, and Buster helped get the alcohol for Paul 2. He's been convicted. You no longer have to say "alleged" or "he has said to have been." It's been PROVEN in court. 3. 41:00 - Look at the murderer smirking in his last mugshot.
*Why didn’t the defense present evidence of people threatening to attack Paul / the family* _and along those lines_ *why didn’t anyone ask Alex to list all of the steps he’s taken to go after* _the “real” people_ *who did it❓❓❓* I would think that would be the main thing on my mind before and after the funeral… *that and protecting myself and my living son.*
Sounds like Paul was never going to be a good person and probably would have ended up killing more people. Thank God this family is finally getting what they deserve.
I think the crazy part is Maggie used to call Paul her little detective. Alec said it in court and that’s exactly what happened. Paul solved his own case.
If it wasn't for the videos his son sent to his friends, there would have been so many innocents people getting lock up for these 2 murders. He tried to frame the victims of the boat accident. He is so selfish.Killing your own son for whatever reasons.
I just know one day in the far away future my daughter is going to be looking for a good true crime story to watch on here and she’ll see one titled “how two dogs and a Chicken took down a dynasty and solved a double homicide.“ and oh what a rabbit hole she’ll fall down.
He’s not going to be in danger, he’s a top tier lawyer. There will be a ton of inmates hiring him to look over their case and try and get them out. There might be a few that get jealous but if he works with the right guys he’ll be untouchable. He will get paid in drugs, food, whatever. He will have protection because these guys want nothing more than to get out. So if he gets close with an inmate with a lot of pull/respect nobody will mess with him. That’s one possibility The other is that he refuses to help anyone and they say f him and he’s gonna have a bad time. He’s gonna be doing more law work in prison than he did his law firm.
Random thoughts: 1. Alex doesn’t seem to be the brightest bulb in the pack no matter his fancy education. 2. In this case, “blew his brains out” is what literally happened to Paul. 3. I like to imagine Alex soiled himself when he found out his voice had been recorded on Paul’s phone that night. 4. Alex is a sociopath & a narcissist - that’s not unusual. What makes Alec “special” are the lengths to which he went to get what he wanted and later on to protect himself. 5. Alex’s beady, dark, staring eyes bug me. He doesn’t even blink at a normal rate. 6. The remaining son isn’t just his father’s doppelgänger, it seems like “sumpin’ tain’t quite right upstairs, if ya know what I mean.” 7. The ONLY hope Alex has got in prison would be to cut a deal with other cons; free legal advice in exchange for his safety (i.e. not being raped and/or beaten to a pulp on a regular basis.” Might want to add a material incentive like free snacks, too. He can afford it. No comparisons to “Shawshank”, either! Why? Because Andy was a decent man wrongly convicted. The opposite of Alex. Morgan Freeman isn’t going to be hanging out with him behind bars, either.
We have the Steven Smith case coming too. It was said there was a close relationship between Buster and Steven. Alec very likely has something to do with that. Anti Gay and his favorite son. The. legal firm paid back all the Beaches, Satterfield and hopefully Smith. The Fall of the House of Murdaugh and thousands of innocent animals will live after all.

@Ole Woodworm Alex admitted to trying to grab Paul's phone out of his pocket bc he said it was half way out but stopped bc he said he couldn't grab it all the way...... js why you do that if you didn't take into consideration modern technology. He also threw his phone so it wasn't pining by the kennels. He knew about modern technology but even with getting rid of it all they have to do is sopena the cell phone company and boom they have his entire cloud. Yes!!! Totally agree!
Great sound track
It’s one of my favorite shows!
Very true!!
HBO Max told it better. Just wish they would’ve waited until the trial was over
I watched the Netflix documentary and as a mom myself it broke my heart when Mallory’s mom asked the police to let her see the boat and where the accident had happened they denied her that because it was a crime scene but when Alex and his wife showed up they let them step all over the crime scene and evidence.
not saying his wife and kid got what they deserved but if his son was still alive he would still be living his life as if he didn’t recklessly killed Mallory so at least her parents got a little bit of justice
Randy is the somewhat “normal”
Brother.
I do not wish bad on anyone, but I get the overwhelming feeling that every member of this family is where they deserve to be.

That’s one possibility
The other is that he refuses to help anyone and they say f him and he’s gonna have a bad time. He’s gonna be doing more law work in prison than he did his law firm.
Can’t wait to see the movie! I’m sure Hollywood is already preparing for it. Probably be a mini series.
Noah Nicholas Emmerich to play Alex Murdaugh.
This case is about the misery of the human condition. May God be with us all. 🙌 🇧🇷
That oart
Yes, that's why we should STOP making more people! To exist is to suffer.

Random thoughts:
6. The remaining son isn’t just his father’s doppelgänger, it seems like “sumpin’ tain’t quite right upstairs, if ya know what I mean.”
Perfect said!
State should’ve offered him a deal in exchange for the truth about Stephen 15/15
Really hurt my spine to hear all his lip-smacking during his testimony.
0:40 she’s looking for the word “prominent”
So inarticulate it’s scary.
😂 Yep.
Fwiw, a few days ago, one of Trump's former attorneys used the term 'petty ante'. (It was Joe Tacopina.)
Strunk & White doing half-gainers in their coffins.
I literally thought the same thing when I saw that 😂.
The prosecution was phenomenal; didn't miss a chance to call out Alex's lies
