My response to the "learn to take a joke" is always, jokes are funny for everyone in the room. If you have to make a joke at someone's expense and existence, then you're just not a good joke teller.
Today in church they asked this one guy to pray, and ו guess he was trying to connect with the kids or whatever, because instead of referring to God as "Father," he kept calling him "Daddy." This random sixty something year old cishet man was yelling "DADDY" every other sentence, in a church full of cishet conservatives, and no one batted an eye. So yeah, that happened 👍

There is a biblical reason for this. Jesus says that when we pray, we not only address God as our father, but we can address him as "Aba" which was a more childlike and informal way to say father in that language. He was trying to make the point that God wants to have a personal loving relationship with everyone. Daddy would be a more direct translation, if it wasn't for the sexual innuendo. I probably would have failed to stifle a giggle too

I watched Dead End Paranormal Park yesterday and it was so fricking great! It had a gravity falls/owl house sorta vibe to it, and I loved all the characters! My favorite characters were basically the main crew plus Badyah, and I thought all of their character designs were cool and unique. I especially liked the designs of the angels in season 2, its not often that you get such inhuman designs for characters like that. I am incredibly angry that Netflix cancelled the show, especially on such a big cliffhanger, but Im hoping to get the 3rd graphic novel which will help answer at least some questions.

Second most shark attacks happen over a misunderstanding. And third shark attacks are so rare (though that doesn't make them any less tragic)! Hey comrades! I went out for lunch with my brothers and nanna today and I felt really awkward and kinda anxious the whole time 😅
I haven't seen my nanna in ages so it was kinda weird seeing her again. We were in a bar restaurant for like 3 hours and I hated it 😭. The constant clanking of glasses, plates, and cutlery was absolute torture, I couldn't even wear my headphones because I could barely hear *anything* over all the noise 😢.
My nanna asked me if I had anything going on/any news and all I could think about was my autism diagnosis so that's what I said. And almost immediately afterwards she said *"Well isn't everyone a little on the spectrum?"* and I had no idea how to respond to that.
It made me kinda upset because she has 3 or more autistic grandkids so I'd assumed she would've done at least the bare minimum of research, but she hadn't.
How do I respond to things like "everyone is a little autistic/in the spectrum" but in an educational kinda way?
She also asked me what autism does to me (basically just asking what autism is 🫤) and at that moment I forgot everything I knew about autism 😭😭. All I could remember at the moment was that we (nd people) have different communication styles to nt people. Also, the sensory issues, taking things bluntly (brother added that understanding sarcasm is difficult), and dislike of crowds (not every autistic person dislikes crowds).
There was more I could have said but I either could not remember in the moment or didn't get to say it.
Everything went pretty ok besides the talk about autism. Although I was never fully comfortable 😅.

How you could respond to the “everyone is a little bit on the spectrum” comment is by saying that “actually the autism spectrum is the varying spectrum of traits and how they affect that individual autistic person, it is not a line where there is no autism on one side and lots of autism on the other, because all autistic people have the same amount of autism but it presents itself in different ways which is why it is called a spectrum. And while some allistic people can fit some certain traits of autism sometimes autistic people LIVE with MULTIPLE traits of autism that affect them deeply throughout their life. :)” idk I hope that helps lol, my sibling has said the same thing to me before so I understand a lil. Also I find that SOME people who say that might be autistic themselves but either not know or don’t want to admit it to themselves but instead they choose to believe that “everyone is a little on the spectrum so it’s normal that do that or have these traits.” Nope everyone is not but…you might be🤨🤭

I had a similar experience with a friend of mine who just got into RUclips vids about ADHD. She kept making suggestions that I might just have ADHD and not autism
I got really overwhelmed cause I felt like I had to explain my symptoms and when I would. She would just say "but so do people with adhd" I had to explain that people with autism can also have adhd and the signs have similar manifestation, but they aren't the same. I got annoyed and just changed the conversation. It does get annoying cause people who just start learning about things, feel the need to armchair diagnose and pass their own theories around. And it's like no, you're not my doctor. And binge watching RUclips vids about adhd don't make you capable of diagnosing other.

Hi y'all!! I hate the way my ocs are so complex, but have no names yet. So anyway, if any of y'all want to tell me about your ocs, go ahead.
this is way too relatable, most of mine only got names this year or end of last year-ish when they've all had so much lore for years now... one still doesn't have a name. they've all cycled through at least two names but most of them a lot more than that
anyways my main oc cast goes to this school for people from different elemental worlds (there's people from Earth, the fire world and air world. water world doesn't have people living in it)
- Ary: from the air world, she was created by someone being hit by basically a magic lightning strike which split them into two people, each with half a soul, Ary is one of the two (the other is Janus, an antagonist in the series. they later in the story unite into one person again).
- Rosie (Rosemary): autistic girl from Earth. is Ary's girlfriend (later girlfriend of the person Ary and Janus unite into) and the two have this bond between their minds that basically allows their souls to touch, which creates a more intimate connection that transcends the physical world but also a possibility for them to manipulate/control each others' minds to a certain extent which... let's just say doesn't end well
- Elsie (Elysia): Ary's sister. basically people of the air world used to live on Earth where they were persecuted and from this danger they took refuge in villages made up entirely from people with air powers (these people were often born to Earthling parents and then were disowned when their powers showed themselves, so these villages became pretty much big families taking in those people who had none of their family of origin left) by sister, i mean she and Ary came from the same village like this. that village was destroyed in the same magic disaster that created Ary, the only people remaining from it are Ary, Elsie and ofc Janus but they have no contact with him and don't even know he exists for a while.
- (doesn't have a name yet but used to be called Spark so let's call her that): from the fire world, and within that a dangerous cult that basically raised her to be a murderer and kill people who aren't part of her cult. i basically scrapped her story bc she originally ended up killing her partner and THEN got redeemed which i realized is kinda hard to be redeemed from lmao, so now she just kinda has a backstory and a vague idea of character development but no actual plotline yet
- Mano: "Spark"s boyfriend. he isn't human in the traditional sense, as he was created from a part of the ancient force that holds the universe together (kinda like a deity, except way less like a conscious being and more like just a bunch of magic energy woven through everything). this makes him sorta detached from everything human - he still feels emotions and empathy for example, but finds it very hard to understand why mortals are so upset by death and the passing of time (this makes his relationship with her girlfriend, a very much emotional mortal kind of difficult but despite their differences they are a loving couple). he eventually has to "die" (not really, just cease to exist in his human form and return to being a part of the universe magic) because his existence is basically causing a disturbance in magic and making accidents like the one that split Janus and Ary more common.

I'm also going to talk about my own ocs here, for the algorithm more than anything. They don't have names, as I said, so they're getting numbers for now. The number does not denote their importance to the story. The story itself takes place in kind of an alternate version of our world, and it's a lot about revolution and having no choice left but fighting. Some parts of the characters are based on my own experiences(they're both autistic because I can't write NTs very well)
1: She's one of the main characters, and also the second? character I made. They come from a fairly small, lower-middle class family. Her family consists of her, her mother and father, and her older brother. Her parents immigrated from Ghana, but she was born in America, and they met 2 in school, although the story takes place a little after they both graduated. She uses she/they pronouns, she's asexual, straight, and she's autistic. She's also goth, and her special interest is plants, she grows a lot of her own, and they are mostly edible. They also tend to have some problems with their legs.
2: He's the other main character. He's the oldest of three children, and their parents are divorced, but there isn't really much hostility. He's Chinese-American, and once again, he met 1 in school. He was kind of treated like the experimental child growing up. He uses he/him pronouns, he's also autistic (and has fairly low empathy, but this is being written by an autistic person with fairly low empathy, so-), he's a gay, trans man, and his style and beliefs are basically impossible to pin down, but the way he dresses is very cool tbh.
I write about various different kinds of creatures because writing humans is boring to me, so I'll just go with this one. I have a dragon OC where basically I wanted to write an antagonist that was just born a bad person. He's got no trauma, he's just a rich prince who turns out to be a fucking monster completely consumed by his own insecurity and pride. I think villains who get their own PoVs and stories with loads and loads of trauma for why they turned out like they did can be very raw and interesting, but it's way overdone. He's just kinda a challenge to myself to create an unjustifiable villain who is still entertaining and very emotional and complex in their own PoV.
This happened with one of my ocs, but I finally found a name for him after doodling him while being bored in class. His name is Pathos, and he’s a cat that can grant wishes. He has gray fur that’s kinda translucent, an eyepatch on one eye, and he can float around. I came up with the idea for him because one of my favorite teachers seemed like a cat person, so I wrote a story about him finding a cat for a school assignment.

Hey- just a little life update- my mom and stepdad were lucky and got a house after searching for over four years and we’re living out in the suburbs…honestly it does make me really uncomfortable to be out of the inner city and they don’t seem to understand as they were both raised in the suburbs so it’s hard to tell them that I miss the community and understanding that came with the inner city as all they can see is the crime rate…it’s hard but I’m talking about it with my therapist and also unpacking some trauma responses that seem to be showing themselves more now that we’ve moved.

I've lived in the sams small town with less than 2000 people my whole life. Even though I live near a bunch of people who are homophobic and would prefer me dead, being in a city sounds so incredibly scary. I'd never move out of my home town, even if it does have downsides.
100% go to the town library and see what community stuff they have going on. That's my biggest suggestions for city folk moving into a small town. Become friends with the librarians and make the library your new home. Go to the parks aswell. Walk around town for sure and take it all in. Bring a sketchbook with you are a regular book. Being in a town can be really good and the community you'll find will make it so much easier to not notice the people who want you dead.

@@petermultiverse2867 I remember this woman over around two years ago, she was arrested and then sent to the jail in my town, many hours from where she lived. She also is from a big city. No one would give her a ride back to where she's from, all the cops denied her. My friends and I hung out with her until her mom arrived. Made her feel as safe as she could. We wanted to take down to the woods, since there's not much fun to do around here, and she wouldn't even walk the trail. She said that this was the type of small town shenanigans before the killings happened in a horror movie. The small town itself scared her, so there was no way she'd be going in the woods. Which, fair, but I found funny since I've never given it a second thought.
She was scared because all horror movied take place in small towns in the middle of no where. Meanwhile, I'd never live in a city! The city sounds terrifying! If one in a thousand people are murderers, I only got two murderers to be on the look out for! But in a city, there are like three hundred murderers! Very scary stuff! And the traffic is so fast there! Total disreguard for the homes in the area!
The first powwow I went to it was me, my mom, and my pale white cousin who almost passed out because of the heat and we only got to walk around and leave barely even getting to see the dances. I swear that woman was about to throw my cousin out of the atmosphere, but I don’t even know why she decided to bring them along. :( I will go with my mother when I can to actually enjoy the experience the culture of the indigenous American community away from places that completely twist our stories and throw out so much depth in our history like they do , sadly, with so many other cultures.
