Some of y’all need to be reminded to not demonize sex work. All work is inherently evil and exploitative, and there will always be people forced in the service, but demonizing sex work instead of trying to help the people who don’t want to be there does nothing.
There are people who genuinely love what they do, and there are people who desperately want out and have no other option, and demonizing either of those groups isn’t okay.
We all sell put bodies and time to survive under capitalism, sex work is no different. Acting like you're different or better is just elitism and you're a jerk and support class division lmao

They had some mildly sketchy vibes through their presentation, but at the end they showed a video of a visibly disabled child running a race with his peers and they were like look how inspirational this child is, you as teachers should try to be inspirational like this

Hey y'all, my family went to see Barbie yesterday!!! ✌️😘✨ Which is so so slay, but it really got me thinking. This is gonna be a rant, mildly depressing perhaps, but ו just gotta get this of my chest. Alrighty, pretty spoiler free, here we go:
The movie has a really fun, campy view of the impact of patriarchy and "if the roles were reversed," but it also carries the message of figuring out yourself, and loving who you are. Even then, when boiled all the way down, it holds the message of what it means to be human, all the joy and pain and love that comes with living. This is a beautiful theme regardless of where it comes from, but when ו thought it over, ו realized how much easier it is said than done. ו want to be myself and get out and see the world, but ו'm stuck in a body ו hate and could live with my parents till my 30s. ו want to raise and nurture a community and help it thrive, but the world we live in is burning and ו don't have the energy to interact with people sometimes. ו want to live and love and be human, but so many people around me don't even think ו deserve it, and want me to erase myself from existence. It's exhausting. Anyhoo, rant over, sorry for the depression, it's a GREAT movie ✨
Completely agree that it's a great movie! Also, I'm so sorry that you're in this situation, I know that there are a few things a lot easier said than done, but I really do believe that anyone within this generation who can grow up, get involved in mutual aid and helping others, and fight for what we believe will do great things. As this time goes on, I really do think that change can be made, hopefully a revolution of sorts. It's not easy to live under Capitalism, and I also know it's not easy in the situation you're in right now, but I really hope you can get through it cause you're clearly a fantastic person who really cares about others. I know that the horrible homophobes and transphobes are a very loud voice right now, but remember that there's a larger community of people who support you, me included! (Also this is not to say that you aren't justified in ranting, cause you are and also I understand that ranting can be really helpful, just do what you can, it's clear that you're a kind and caring person).

Today I went to Sheffield and we went to the beach. We went to an amusement park and there was so many spiny rides it was so fun, I love spinning so much so it was amazing!!! It was loud but that’s the only problem. The beach was nice I found some very nice shells and rocks I found one which is a perfect circle (oval idk like a circle but flatter). I hear people talking all the time about how they've gotten old as a bad thing. I've been suicidal since I was 12. I'm just starting to not be suicidal at age 26. I didn't think I would live to see 20 years old. And I had a massive existential crisis when I hit 25 because I was so surprised I had survived long enough to see my 25th birthday.
It really rubs me the wrong way when people talk about being old as a bad thing.
Getting old is a huge achievement in my eyes. It means you fought through several decades of hell on earth and refused to die. Getting old means that you're stubborn and have a willpower of steel. Or it means that your life has been good enough that you wanted to stick around for it.
I hope i grow old

3) yes, to an extent. Mostly for things like when they stop you on the street or while you're in a car. If they ask to search you, then they don't have a warrant to search you. Say very clearly "no you cannot search me or my things, and I will not speak to you further without an attorney present. If you do not have a warrant for me then I will be going now."
The reason I say you have to be very clear is because they will ask questions formatted so that they can twist your answer around to suit them. They might ask "do you mind if I search your car?" And whether you say yes or no, they will twist that answer for their needs. So you have to be clear.

Last night, I had found out about a “Champaign socialist”. A person who is wealthy/comes from a wealthy family and become socialist. I’ve seen mixed opinions online, but never from leftist. So how do you guys feel about them?
If they genuinely support the ideology of a community, recognize their privilege, and don't own means of production then I am so cool with that. Be born rich, but actually pool your resources with the community. Don't just "sympathize with the poors" support the community
i tend to be weary of people with a bunch of money who say that they care about the community, but if they're *GENUINELY* supporting their community and aren't afraid to get their hands dirty and they're actually making moves to dismantle the same systems we're trying to dismantle while acknowledging that they're apart of that system, then i'm willing to tolerate.
Never heard this term before, and I feel like it would be too nuanced to just say yes good or no bad
I feel the distinction on whether someone who has money and aligns themselves with the left/socialism/communism is the distinction between words and actions. Like, just saying you support leftism and equality, but not doing anything about it or actively participating in things that go against what you say you support, then it's just performative, but if you actually use your privileges and resources to support others and do the work towards a more equitable and fair world, then that is valid
I just looked it up, and I found that hypocrisy is inherent to - and cannot be separated from - the term "champagne socialist." Champagne socialists are people who understand that aligning themselves with the masses will grant them popularity and a socially conscious image. They do so as a PR move, all the while engaging in behaviors in private that are entirely out of touch with the public and that make light of their struggle to afford basic necessities. I think that is different than someone who's born into a wealthy family and falls somewhere on the leftist spectrum.
I find the second type of person to be untrustworthy at best, especially until they've shown a willingness to invest - money AND time - in community and then continuously followed through. Trust cannot be earned without transferring superfluous resources to people who need them (e.g., selling a second house rather than running an Airbnb or renting, taking extra food to a community fridge, offering quality used goods to a neighbor rather than sending them to the landfill). Regardless of how much they identify with leftists, reading and discussing theory is much different than PRAXIS. Additionally, certain concerns will never come onto their radar due to a lifetime of fulfilled material needs and all the trappings that accompany financial privilege (e.g., quality educational facilities and post-grad preparation, safe neighborhoods, good credit score, ability to buy goods in bulk, etc.). This becomes more and more applicable the more they fit the heteronormative, patriarchal, able-bodied capitalist ideal.
Somewhat related: I immediately thought of Grimes when reading your comment. If I remember correctly from something I read a while ago, she was comfortable growing up. She liked the counterculture aesthetic and wanted to be contrarian, so she changed her style and attracted an alt fanbase. She was never a communist, but she intentionally got caught reading The Communist Manifesto in 2021 as a way to troll the paparazzi. We all know she dated and had two children with Elon Musk, and a fascist's girlfriend is also a fascist. So yeah, I'm wary of celebrities in leftist-adjacent spaces

i tend to be a person who gets into fights in comment sections a lot (almost always in defense of someone getting harassed/wrongfully hated on) but by far the WORST one ive gotten into is a comment i left like 3 and a half weeks ago that basically was just telling a group of male gamers that they have to stop treating their game as more important than their partners. to this DAY i am still getting spammed with hate comments that range from petty insults, wrongly psychoanalyzing me, actual sexism, and actual violent threats (i just got one while typing this...). my blocked list on that platform has nearly sextupled because of this (going from 24 to 142) and it doesnt seem to be stopping anytime soon, that and ive been getting basically 0 defense on my part. if you need a reason to stay far far away from a male gamer then here is your sign lmao
