I’ve been opening up about my experiences (I’m self diagnosed as autistic) to my parents lately because I’m trying to salvage our relationship before I move away. Yes! Today I went to the Gynecologist with my mum (as a trans boy). So it already was a very stressful experience plus I'm having my period rn😭. However the gynecologist was really nice and didn't deadname me. But afterwards my mum said she was embarrassed because I "couldn't even make eye contact, although we taught you that since you could speak! You could at least be friendly once when others are friendly to you". I thought I'd done well and I was proud of myself :(

Fr. I literally can’t stand when people portray people with NPD as self-serving assholes and people with ASD as unempathetic. And don’t even get me started on the villain with truama/“crazy” villain trope.
I'm gonna be honest, and this will not make me look good, but I'm genuinely scared of people with NPD because my own diagnosed father has treated me and my family terribly. In fact, when he was diagnosed/found out he had it, he leaned into the harmful traits more. I know my father is only one person and has made me biased. It doesn't help that the only NPD content/information I've come across basically just states to stay clear or leave if the first part wasn't an option. I don't know how to change my perspective without putting myself (or potentially others) in harms way.

- Many kids, a stereotype that Latine familes are extremely sexual/sexually active
- the kids named Nacho and Nachito (could possible be short for Ignacío)

00:14 As a Latine who grew up in Southern California, I found myself conflicted with Primos discourse because on one hand, I understand where the criticism is coming from. The names, the yellow sky, the stereotypes and the rude cast member and creator. But on the other hand, that is my life on screen. I walked around neighborhoods that looked like that. I had family members and friends who had like 3 different families living under the same roof. I never fully grasped the grammar of Spanish and just like in the song, often use the wrong conjugations of verbs all the time. I even found the name of the neighborhood kinda funny because terremoto translates to "earthquake" in english and the show is set in Los Angeles where earthquakes are normalized and even joked about here.
I am proud of my Latine culture and SoCal upbringing but as a kid, when most media and cartoons showed families being two parents, two and a half kids, suburban, and white, I felt my life was weird, not normal. Ngl, I wished that a show like Primos came across my tv screen so I knew that somewhere out there, there was another person who was like me.
I do hope that we get more shows that tell Latine stories and break the stereotypes imposed on us by White America but I still hope that all types of family and living situations get to be shown so we don't go around thinking that we were weird for having our aunts or grandparents living with us.

I'm probably hella stupid, but what's wrong with the yellow sky? In part four of Jojo's Bizarre Adventure, the sky is yellow and I always enjoyed that stylistic change.
@@ElizabethMidfordHatesCops I think it stems from how in American media, they use a yellow filter to help distinguish a location as being set in a Latin American country. The most popular example is Breaking Bad using a yellow filter for scenes set in Mexico.
I do agree that it can be a great stylistic choice to depict emotion, time, and temperature. Since Primos does take place during the summer, it's reasonable to use warm colors to help get that across visually and judging by the setting sun at the end, it's late afternoon/early evening, when golden hour usually occurs.
But with how historically latine and latine Americans are portrayed in American media, I can see how an aspect of visual storytelling can be seen as stereotypical.

Hi y'all!! Today I went on a walk, and we saw some turtles. Anyway, I have spent so long writing transcripts and theories and I am now writing about ableist tropes.
I also have to write a speech next school year, and I might write about discrimination in healthcare, either that or write about how capitalism enables bigotry (this is in front of my class, and I have always been very clear about my political opinions).

I really appreciate the Sámi tiktok! My great grandparents were Sámi but assimilated into Finnish culture, and my family later on moved to the United States and further assimilated. I didn't know about that part of my ancestry until this past year. I love learning more about the Sámi as it makes me feel more connected to the world and a larger community.
A few resources I'd recommend to anyone interested in learning about the Sámi is Ann Laestadius's novel Stolen. It covers present day Sámi life and issues very well (specifically those who still herd reindeer). The movies Sámi Blood and The Kautokeino Rebellion are also great as they are both historical fiction (although Sámi Blood isn't based on a single event but rather the general experience of pressured and forced assimilation). All of these works were made by Sámi people. :)

Also I have Cherokee heritage(eastern band) but my family has been whitewashed over the generations. One of my ancestors was tied to a tree and had rocks thrown at her because she married a white man. According to my grandma our family has rights to receive government checks because of indigenous ancestry but no one has pursued it for some reason
@@CorvusMoon22 Yes I love Sámi art! I don't know much about the Cherokee but I have been learning more about the Dakota (specifically the Mdewakanton and the Wahpekute tribes) because I'm Minnesotan and they are the indigenous groups from here.
I dunno if you want book recommendations but Mni Sota Makoce by Gwen Westerman and Bruce White is really informative about the Dakota. Oh and the memoir Spirit Car by Diane Wilson may be a good fit for you since it's about Wilson's journey in learning about her Dakota ancestry. She comes from a very assimilated family as well.

Ikr my moms and grandmother are fluent and I know a little from a combination of family, lessons and living in Vienna for a month and traveling a lot in Germany. So much german sounds like English with a stereotypical accent lmao. It's my birthday today (but tmr for most of you because time zones are whack, it's Thursday where I am right now)

Like celebrations like this (especially since it's a big birthday for me) are so hyped up and then you get the celebrations for a little and then well that's it and you just spend the rest of the day deflated because you're supposed to think it's a special day but all the special things about it have stopped...

3:20 ngl that pissed me off so much.. Like no one here uses lash glue and tweezer... It felt oddly white people trying on bindi... She's brown but she's just so white washed that the way she was talking about the bindi felt weird.. Like tere is the reason it's so sticky already.. It will remain like that through out the day without the lash glue.. And seeing the packaging i can tell those are local ones and they are very sturdy
