Honestly though I find it hilarious that I know people who let their young children watch marvel movies, but wouldn’t ever take them to a kid friendly drag show. Like, the first iron man movie has a sex scene pretty close to the beginning, right? Not to mention all the violence. And to be fair, the only “marvel” movies I’ve seen are the spiderverse ones, so I could be totally wrong. And I’m not saying you shouldn’t let kids eat he marvel movies, I’m just saying it’s hypocritical.
Funny how parents will take their kids to go watch movies with hostage situations and shoot offs but not to anything even slightly gay. They will always choose representarions of violence over representations of people.

A fun fact about my high school friendship group is that we were all LGBT but only a few of us were out before going to uni. We were all very openly supportive and supported our out friends but it still wasn't safe as we were in a Christian school with Christian/ conservative parents. It's fun to look back now because we clearly weren't straight but I really don't miss that fear of being outed before I was ready.
I know like three straight people, except for the adults in my family. I live in a very safe environment, and I'm very glad all my friends are able to be open about their gender and sexuality even though we're all still in high school, and it makes me feel so lucky especially when I know there are so many people like me who have to live in constant fear.

at this point we're loving and supporting narcissism? we cant love and support everything. yes, we can treat the person with respect and love them, but narcissism, just like many other mental issues/illnesses aren't good 4 u thats why they're called illnesses. if we keep on loving this n treating it like its normal ppl will nvr start reaching out 4 help 4 these type of things, they'll js treat it like normal. if i treated my social anxiety n adhd as normal n never tried to improve or anything, i would've hated myself and my life.

Has anyone here ever heard of benne wafers? Benne is the Bantu word for sesame seed and the benne wafers are very popular among the Charleston area. Charleston was a major slave trade town and the enslaved Africans brought benne to America with them. Benne can still be found in many southern recipes. The slaves made these little wafer cookies as a sort of way to stay connected to their roots
Guess what? I did it! I am finally getting rid of the bed I’ve had since a toddler and getting a grown up bed! I finally got the motivation to take my old bed apart last night. I’m currently sleeping on a mattress in the floor but still yay!

a lil storytime: in Norway we have like 9-10 main political parties that all fight against each other during elections. every party has a youth version where teenagers can engage in politics. Thursday this week, each youth party visited my school to debate. it was so entertaining. they had like 10% good arguments and 90% insults towards the other parties. though, I was glad to find out most of my school leans towards the left side of politics

I built a robot at school today! It was very small+simple (a battery, tiny motor, toothbrush head assembled to make a moving thing) but it was really fun!
Plus in a ftm tiptoks thing I saw a while ago, one of them mentioned dapping and I got to use that info so it was a very gender moment:D and when I was telling my other friend about the time I got stuck in a trash can (hide and seek gone wrong) they referred to me as a “small boy” (even tho I’m taller than her and most of my friends) so another gender moment!

stressing about school right now 😭. I start school in September but I am still so nervous. My school building is getting the statues out front replaced with replicas cause the old ones are like 50+ years old, the replicas are getting put up in November but I just hope they won't install them during the school day because I can't stand loud noises. We aren't allowed to bring schoolbags to the classrooms this year and I got all of these cute little pins for my schoolbag last year so now I can't even carry them around with pride. I love my school but I've been overthinking every little thing about my first day and if I will drop my school Chromebook down the school steps. On a brighter note my cat has been curling up next to me
I'm curious about why you aren't allowed bags in the classrooms, I assume it's a security thing but it's also not the most logical decision to have hundreds of people carrying everything they need in their hands because they don't have bags or possibly even pockets
@@dragonalpaca3530 we have uniforms at our school so there is pockets for the boys pants (I'm a boy) but no pockets for the girls skirts. The school said there was no schoolbags allowed in the classrooms prior to the pandemic idk if it was for safety reasons or not . We have lockers to put our school bags in which I will be doing and my mom suggested that I switch my books out during lunch but my lunch this year begins at 9:40 with only 2 class periods prior to that. And we have chrome books and I'm taking honors art this year so I will have to carry around a large sketchbook cause it won't fit in my locker.

Creative Writing Prompt 165: Lately I have been fascinated by the idea of genre. Genre is a word we use to describe a series of patters we observe within storytelling, things certain stories have in common and things they don’t.
It’s possible to write a story without bringing genre into consideration, but if you deliberately use it as a tool you have the ability to create something unique and era-defining.
Consider how Hunter x Hunter (Togashi), though it doesn’t subvert the shounen genre, it seeks to apply consequences to classic shounen tropes in a way that both elevates the story and leaves a lasting impact on the genre.
Take a piece of genre fiction, something you’re very familiar with, and write an opening to a story which will use the conventions of genre as a playground.
Eg: so I’ve been thinking a lot about mecha lately. I’ve tried to read some books and play some games, watch some anime in part to prepare for the new Armored Core game, but I’m just kind of dissatisfied with what I’ve been seeing so far (I’ll take Recs if you’ve got ‘em.)
So we take a look at what the genre is: giant fighting robots with pilots. Now there are some problems inherent to that premise. The first is that a mech has a lot of moving parts that can break down, and generally in engineering the more things can go wrong the more will. There is no combat arena where having legs with multiple joints that can break is better than having two sets of treads. Nowhere where a waist and arms and shoulders and a neck and eyes can replace a gun mounted on two motors with a camera. Why build the former when you can build fifty of the later for the same price?
We also have to deal with the fact that these things are big, expensive, resource-intensive, heavy, and complicated to build and maintain. So the only people who can make use of them are large, militant, industrial organization with tons of resources.
The consequence of trying to solve both these problems is that the enemy needs to be some kind of supernatural force that must be met on the battlefield with a humanoid form, and the mechs are deployed my special military divisions that use them for certain special operations.
But I don’t want to do all that. So we’ll answer those problems another way: spectacle. These pilots fight in an arena for entertainment. Big teams work together to keep mechs in top condition and prepare their pilots to secure victory. Our drama can come from lack of funding, corruption, team disputes, and the ever-mounting pressure of the coming matches. We can spend less time describing pseudo-technology to the reader and instead let the stench of cheap grease and steel loom over a strained mechanic crew, watch their panicking because the pilot hasn’t shown up and they need this win.
Anyway, I’ll get to work
Eg 2: [Not my best work, but here we go] There was 1 hour, 13 minutes, and 42 seconds left until the most important fight of our lives. TB 8531-HALO vs HV 2000-DYNAMO, The Last Spartan vs Tobi the Boxer. The posters around town showed them: HALO standing 40 feet tall and proud against a warm glow, a custom 30 foot spear in its right arm, modified TB-0156 shield on its left. Thin brass plating had been layered onto its chassis to simulate the appearance of historical spartan armor, but it bore the marks of battle--deep scars in the layered armor protecting the cockpit-and these had no doubt been repaired, but evidently the Spartan's marketing team had decided the scratches gave the mech character. The Spartan stood on HALO's shoulder, his pilot suit unzipped to his sternum to show off his gleaming bare chest. His headshot filled the poster's dead space. He would be beautiful if he were only a little less frighting. He kept head and face shaved, but a thick black beard framed his face from under flawless olive skin. Heavy brow and jaw, sharp cheekbones, lazily repaired nose, thick lips in a scowl but a fearless smile in his eyes. He looked ready to fight. We weren't.
Our pilot, Akira Toriyashi, Tobi, stood in the foreground of his poster. He grinned broadly, thin and slight with his fists up mimicking our DYNAMO's boxer's stance. He was prettier than the Spartan, bleached hair lank in his eyes from sweat. He had the top half of his jumpsuit tied around his waist, leaving his chest bare to show off his charging bull tattoo. The DYNAMO always sported a fresh coat of red and white paint that we'd added to draw attention to Akira's flashy style, and of course our signature scarlet cape that billowed about the mechs while they grappled.
1 hour, 12, minutes, 51 seconds, and we weren't ready. We had the DYNAMO. It stood on the elevator, ready to lift into the arena. We'd spend all night polishing the paint, greasing the joints, testing and retesting and retesting the brand new mortar-powered punch system we'd installed, praying it'd survive the fight and-even more so-be noticed by the crowd. Being able to pack a bigger punch, maybe even being able to damage the HALO's armor, we could spin the match to our investors even if we lost. As long as Akira got here in time. He was three hours late.

its a little confusing for the reason they dropped us but im mainly just tired of losing friends in general. they were our only irl friend in the span of 2-3ish years, and they already disappeared within months. no matter what we do it feels like none of us can keep friends in ANY community. straight, queer, ND, NT, we just cant. my self esteem is just lowering every day and i feel like we are terrible people that drive everyone away. i dont know how to change without repressing everything and weve been trying for so hard already. im tired man

I'd like to listen to more political music. Atm the only artists I really listen to with political themes in their music are MARINA and Penelope Scott. Love Marina very much and mostly only listen to Penelope Scott when I want catharsis.

@@autisticfrog290 well its probably important to note that his music is VERY different from Penelope Scott or Marina and it's a lot more abstract. A lot of people have cancelled him over things they haven't researched.
They are quite different in style, but I really like Fever 333. The lead singer is biracial, and the songs are often about racial issues and injustice.
Rage Rgainst the Machine is really good but considering MARINA is indie/pop and Penelope Scott is Baroque punk, you probably wouldn't like them to much. They're nu metal and all of their songs are very anti capitalist, anti yt supremacy, anti imperialism, yk stuff like that. If you don't know what nu metal is, its kind of a mix between heavy metal & elements of hip hop. If you're familiar with Korn, Limp Bizkit, or Slipknot then you know some nu metal bands. does anyone have any tips on making protein filled healthy meals for picky people? im autistic and im quite a picky eater; when i move out and live on my own id like to be able to make stuff for myself, but im not really sure what i could make thats healthy, has protein, and that id like other, than a few things i already have in mind.
what kind of meals do you typically eat? it's easier to add to what your already familiar with then to force yourself to eat something new in my experience.
Learn how to COMBINE food. Learn what spices you can and can’t handle. Literally just go online/go through cookbooks, cook as much as possible, and mark what recipes you like.
There are gonna be dishes that you LOVE and ones that make you wanna cry. I also recommend cooking with friends. Turn it into something you LIKE instead of a chore! Do you REALLY like a certain ingredient ? For this example I’ll use salmon. Learn how to use salmon in a bunch of dishes that all taste different with different levels of difficulty
This is all coming from people who can eat anything and had to take care of a kid who thinks strawberries are too intense

Experimenting with different paints and markers is a nice way to try new art. I'd also recommend drawing one thing in multiple styles (anime, realism, etc).

For me it was a short comic about BLM protests. I was raised by conservative parents so at first I was like, “Well my parents aren’t fond of the protests so I’m not”, but then I saw a comic about the movement. It was showing a house on fire and a house that was perfectly fine. And the firefighters were hosing down only the house that wasn’t on fire. And when asked why, they said, “But this house deserves water too” and the other bystander said “But that house doesn’t need water like that house on fire does”. And then it kinda clicked in my head that…**gasp** the left can make sense?!?!?!? And now here we are.

Hey everybody!!! i just got home from my second day of school and i leave for a football game in about an hour!!! i'm in marching band and we have a pregame performance we are doing Mr. Blue Sky, Sir Duke, and Hooked on a Feeling!!! i'm confident that i at least won't bump into anyone lol i have the music mostly memorized and i have the drills down pretty well! this will actually be this first football game i ever go to since i'm a freshman and i never went to the games before and we get the third quarter off to go get food and stuff and we get half price on the food and free water and soda so that's great!!! i don't know our stand tunes very well cause we haven't practiced them much except one because i learned it last year but i'm really excited!!! i play the baritone and i am the only baritone player in my whole school! anyway have a good day everyone!!!

Does anyone know where I can get free disposable masks? Do you know if schools still provide masks? I am just very anxious about finding masks right now and I want to know if anyone knows where I get a couple more.
At my school in Texas, the nurse has disposable masks in her office, and they have them at the front desk, too. I don't know that it's true for all schools in my state, but my state is pretty conservative, so there's a chance.
