I probably wouldn’t use pedantic in that context, just because it has a pretty negative connotation. Like, pedantic to me usually means someone who uses correcting someone else’s small errors to show superiority or to be petty. Sort of like Hermione Granger or when someone says “black isn’t a color, it’s a shade :)”. It’s usually kind of a snide form of I know better than you.

Thank you hobie. Sometimes I feel like skipping these comps or just relaxing from politics is selfish or unhelpful and that I should be 24/7 striving for education, but it’s not healthy. There have been so many times I’ve seen people dismiss Autistic people because they’ll mention these traits, and allistic people won’t understand the difference! And they’ll always use the phrase, “oh, so you think _______ automatically makes you autistic?!”
The answer is, of course, no. One trait isn’t gonna make you autistic, and there is no one trait that ONLY autistic people have, but when you look at it all together, it paints a clear picture of someone’s neurodivergence. But Allistic people miss that, because they’re only catching the one trait in that one moment, and can’t see the baggage that it’s connected to.

As someone who just recently cosplayed as the leader in cult of the lamb (I’m white btw) there are many fun ways you can incorporate the lambs skin tone into the costume without participating in blackface. @@basildasil NPD is a cluster B personality disorder. Cluster B (BPD, NPD, ASPD, and HPD) are some of the most stigmatized disorders in the DSM. Doctors refuse to treat us, we can be shunned from adoption centres, etc. Being a narcissist (having NPD) isn’t inherently bad or dangerous. A lot of people with NPD are highly successful and determined as they hate people looking down on them.
Saying narcissism is inherently evil is similar to saying autism is inherently evil. This is especially worse when you realize cluster B disorders come from childhood trauma/abuse
We are just people who want to exist. Instead of calling someone narcissistic, call them vain, selfish, or inconsiderate. I’m currently dating someone with ASPD and NPD and to be completely honest this is my healthiest relationship to date

like.. i already "talk with my hands" so literally talking with my hands feels right.
side note: i am not a member of the deaf or hard of hearing community, nor is anyone in my personal life. using sign just makes sense to my brain and it helps make the world a little bit more accessible.
The hand movements don't always come easily to me, but it feels natural in the way that it is easier to speak with my hands than my mouth sometimes. I really feel like it's something that should be taught more in schools!

Irony is kind of a form of hypocrisy in a way, one example would be if someone cut down trees to put a sign for saving the environment. Its almost like doing the opposite of what you mean in a funny way, but it is hard to understand sometimes. If someone says something in an obviously different tone if voice, usually either super deadpan or super dramatic, it's probably sarcasm.
usually some people say they unironically believe certain things and that means they're serious about it. for example "my best ex best friend unironically makes fun of neo-pronoun users" hope that makes sense
@It’s-Wesday I struggled with ironic vs. unironic before too. An example of ironic would be Romeo and Juliet. It would have gone fine if the characters hadn’t actively tried to improve the situation. It’s basically like when something backfires and you get the opposite of what you wanted.
The Alanis Morissette song “Ironic,” she says “It’s like ten thousand spoons when all you need is a knife.” That’s not ironic, that’s just inconvenient. Ironic would be: You were going to bring a knife, but you were told only spoons were needed and that no knives were. So you said, “Well, guess I don’t need this knife then!” and you leave the knife at home. You then proceed to really need that knife that you were going to bring, except you were under the impression you wouldn’t need it. The thing that makes it ironic, is you were about to bring your knife until something actively intervened unintentionally. Bonus points if extra situations now come up where you would need a knife for every damn thing but now don’t have one.
“Unironic” just means earnest and straightforward.
A lot of confusion comes in because a lot of people don’t understand what “ironic” really means, so they use the word when what they really mean is symbolic, or inconvenient or funny.
In the case of “unironic”… I unironically like the song “Never Gonna Give You Up.” I just mean that I genuinely like it, even though most people joke about that song and play it for laughs. When someone Rick Rolls you and they say they are playing the song ironically…. They are actually incorrectly using the word ironic. They just mean they are being funny. They probably don’t know the difference between “ironic” and funny either. Or if they do know, they are just using the word colloquially, which is technically incorrect and informal.

I am honestly p disappointed. Im a trans guy and i need therapy to get HRT and surgeries. However the waiting lists are looooong. I did manage to get a meeting with a therapist on July 31st which is is p soon. But after having read reviews like "He didn't believe i was trans bc i painted my fingernails", "he insulted me bc i was unemployed at the time", "after going to him i have stopped looking for a therapist for months bc he was so rude and disrespectful" or "when i told him i graduated from middle school he said 'i didn't expect that you have made anything in your life'" and stufd like that. so now i get why he had time so soon haha
5:07 strong disagree with this one, as someone diagnosed with ADHD, anxiety, and depression. in the same vein that it's important to give content warnings before posting potentially triggering content, I believe it's very important to check in with people's boundaries before opening up about a topic that might be upsetting. in fact, it's BECAUSE of my history with mental illness that I don't want other people to suddenly start discussing traumatic topics without checking in with me first. and I wouldn't do that to them either. being forced to relive past traumas isn't being "inconvenienced," and as someone who's had my boundaries repeatedly belittled and argued with I'm upset by the disparaging way this person discusses boundaries.
again, I'm neurodivergent and mentally ill - and this isn't the way I communicate or want to communicate. I dislike being spoken for like this.

*Update on Ohio’s impending Cringe Apocalypse*
The House’s Budget greatly contrasts with what the Senate had proposed, being more Bipartisan. Due to sneaking in SB 83 and it’s accompanying fascist bills targeting higher Ed , it seems The House will take the proposed budgets to committee until they reach a compromise. Their deadline is on the 30th, to where the final version will be sent to the Governor. I made sure to send letters to my area’s House and Senate members, and shared the situation with my mutual aide group to keep them informed.
Aside from the budget, the state’s Supreme Court narrowly approved for a special election on August 8th, which will be a vote on changing the majority rule from 50% to 60%. This change would make it much harder for Ohioans to vote on amendments/changes to our State constitution, especially considering we may be able to vote on enshrining Abortion rights in November’s ballot. I got a feeling it’s no coincidence…
Lastly, I am keeping watch on the 6 pieces of Anti-Trans legislation. Recently, there was a session regarding one bill which is your typical healthcare ban for Trans Youth, and a bunch of people protested and opposed the bill in the House chamber, so we’ll have to see where it goes. As for the other pieces, I wouldn’t be surprised if a few of them end up dying in committee at this point, as they had been referred there months ago and I haven’t heard any new information aside from introduction.
I’m going to stand up and fight tooth and nail this time around! I’ll provide another update once things get moving.

@@sapphomei City councils often chose to plant trees that flower, rather than produce fruit (this generally means the male counterpart to female trees).
They do this for a variety of reasons, the main 2 are so that they don't have to clean up fallen fruit, which can be hazardous for pedestrians and smell pretty bad. The other reason is to prevent people getting free food so that they have to rely on stores. Free food isn't profitable.
The side effect of planting more flowering trees than fruiting trees is there being a higher pollen count in the air. The excess pollen in the air triggers allergies in people who wouldn't generally be effected if it weren't for the high ammount of flowering (male) trees being planted, in contrast to the low ammount of fruiting (female) trees (which don't produce pollen and therefore don't trigger allergies).

i can‘t stop thinking about this so here’s the karen story i have from yesterday. part of my job is selling cut flowers at the local farmer‘s market. yesterday my mom, who’s also technically my boss was away on a weekend trip which she absolutely deserved so it was my coworker and i at the market. at some point this lady comes up complaining that her peonies only lasted for 2 days, which sucks and it’s not the standard my parents hold themselves to. when flowers expire too soon we usually give the customer a couple of flowers to give another go, as a sign that we have taken note of their complaint and that we care about that, as well as to show that our products are usually better. of course with cut flowers there’s always a chance that they don’t last for whatever reason. so i give this lady a couple of peonies for free. (while we do grow our own roses spring through fall, we buy everything else, including peonies and other seasonal flowers from wholesale so we have less control over what we get and sometimes it happens that the quality isn’t up to homegrown standart) she looks at me and says ‚my bouquet was worth 30€‘. (the peonies i gave here were not close to being worth 30€ but we rarely give out the full amount of flowers that went bad for free unless the full amount of flowers is a number under 10) i told her to come back and discuss that with my boss because i don’t have to deal with that attitude. i have done everything correctly according to my parent’s standards and if this lady is going to complain she’s not doing it while i have a line with much more pleasant customers to be served.
the usual reaction to customers receiving free flowers after telling us that their last flowers went bad within a matter of days is ‚oh that’s really not necessary, i know you have good flowers, i‘ve been coming here for years and just wanted to let you know‘ or a simple ‚thank you‘. one really important lesson in retail is to recognize good and bad customers and that it’s ok to lose a bad customer. this woman is the only customer i know of who appears to have a genuine issue with the way we do business yet keeps coming back. sure we have customers who are never particularly kind and we have customers who are very particular about the product they recieve (i actually really like this kind of customer, i trust someone who will make me do something twice so that it’s right for them a lot more than someone who barely looks at something they’re spending 15€ on.) but people who have genuine issues with your product or service usually don’t stick around. and if they do that’s the type of masochism i can’t get behind.

guys idk if my dad sees me or my sibling as his kids bc we both arent cishet (nd we are also both out of the closet) and he lives and breathes making fun of trans people and gay people almost every day but im convinced hes just 'tolerating' us bc my mom is fully supportive of us and we both cant live on our own (bc my sibling gets paid through only disability and also it might be considered kidnapping if she just took me and ran) (also if i want to run away i have no where to go bc all of my friends are in america (and are in red states) and i dont think i would be able to live for more than a week since i only think to eat childrens food like pogo corndogs and kraft dinner and bc i wouldnt have rules i would probably consume an unhealthy amount of monster since i cant have it anymore and i also cant cross roads bc i never look before crossing)

Whenever they try to keep you away from hanging out from your siblings or if they try to control how you eat/dress
When they complain abt how everyone abandoned them even though they are self centerd (they are a very manipulative friend and sometimes get violent)
If they call anyone who is alternative a “poser” for no reason. I know this is really weird but I know that if they do this they are judgmental and have a “holy-er than thou” mentality:/

Update on how the baby shower went:)
We went to my aunts friends house to do the baby shower because her house is big and clean (also a really nice kitchen) and I spent most of the time outside on the patio that had this asphalt/cement flooring and that is one of the worst textures ever😭 I was walking on my toes the whole time to avoid it because I didn’t want to take my shoes off and on whenever I wanted food. I ate some snacks, there was a cat there to, and they rubbed up against my legs :3. Anyway it started at 3 and was supposed to end at 6 but I left at 4 because there were to many people and my autism didn’t like that, I walked back to my aunts house( I stay at hers over vacations and weekends) but it was fine because she lives a few blocks away from her friends. And when I got home I was home alone( my favorite) and I watched reruns of Chopped while eating whipped cream and sprinkles.
not the bad textures 😭😭 god i hate when those ruin an event :/

It's so frustrating to be in a place like school during BHM because everyone puts the more palitable quotes everywhere all the while praisng him for being "nonviolent" and "doing it the right way". Yet, there's *many* other quotes where he criticizes capitalism and whiteness. Many other quotes that deserve the spotlight---many other quotes that will actually get people thinking.
A lot of nonblack people only see him as "a leader who brought Black people together and gave them hope". While he did do that, he didn’t *just* give Black people hope, he helped many people *become* their own hope.
He wasn’t just assisnated for his nonviolent speeches and marches. He was assassinated because he was actually making moves towards Black liberation, that actual started to become less palatable and "nonviolent" before he was assassinated.
Most of what I'm trying to say is that white and other nonblack people see him so differently from how the Black community saw and experienced him. White and nonblack people have just taken what they *saw* or wanted to see and have made that into his image everywhere because they dont actually understand Black liberation.
-To me, it seems like it's just entertainment or a "feel good thing" to white and nonblack people. While for Black people all of it is literally the lives we live and the things we expereince.
This gave a new incite and a certain motivation to learn more of the black liberation in America topic. Seems so interesting.

Okay just found out there’s a “slang” term I use all the time that doesn’t exist in the dictionary. I use the term “irrehenceable” like all the time, and I found out yesterday it doesn’t exist? I swear I’ve been using this my entire life. I’ve asked multiple people and only one person says they know this word- and it’s freaking me out.
I’m not trying to say Irreparable, irreprehensible, or anything like that. I swear irrehenceable is a damn word. I don’t even know if I’m spelling it right because even GOOGLE won’t give me anything.

I’ve been getting this one add a lot recently. It’s this documentary by Epoch TV about being transgender. At first I was like, yay more representation!, then I realized how conservative and crappy this thing is. It’s anti-trans. It’s basically a documentary about the whole “You’ll regret it, listen to your parents” argument. Got me excited for shit.

People need to realize that age DOES NOT or rather it SHOULD NOT make your art more or less impressive! It doesn't and should not matter how old someone is when they created the artwork as access to resources and learning curve are the biggest aspects as to WHY this is the case.
"this 15 year old draws better than I do at 30" thats because in our current information age we have more free art resources, drawing tools are more accessable to people more than ever, speedpaints, tutorials, inspirations are EVERYWHERE to assist these young folks than it was back in the day.
Sometimes, people take longer to learn certain things, sometimes it takes them sooner! Either way, it shouldnt matter, all that matters is the final intention and piece.
Thats really the basic crux of it, this isnt to say the creator was wrongful in any way or whatever, I just think this should be something to note for all artists in general
When people say that other countries, like South Korea, are safer than the U.S. because people can sleep anywhere and usually not be bothered or harassed or robbed, it also makes me think of the policing of homeless people in the U.S. that leads to people literally not being able to sleep on public because of the police and local policies.
Like half of the problem is other people hurting you while you are sleeping and the other half is the literal police that are supposed to protect you harassing you for sleeping in public because homeless people can exist peacefully in the U.S.

Okay, so does anyone else struggle with connotation? I'm suspecting that I'm autistic and I'm curious if anyone else struggles with this. There are only a few connotations I know, and that's just because I've memorized them. One of them is Vicissitudes, which is a word I use often, but when will I ever need to know "stingy" is bad.
I struggle with this too! While I’m not officially autistic, people have asked me to get checked out for it. Sometimes I get told that I’m really skinny and apparently that’s bad? I didn’t know skinny had a bad connotation until I had a class that literally taught connotation.

Fellow autistic person here and jfc I did not need to be called out so hard. Brother started playing in 2011, I started in mid 2012. One thing, I'm about to be 14. I have been playing since I was 2 AND A HALF.
Literally was only just able to hold the controller, yet every week or so I'd get a go on the PS in the living room. Got my tablet, which enabled me to play every day, at the age of 4 or 5.
Istg that game owns me. It's one of my first hyperfixations and one of the longest running, second only to art. Not a day goes by where I don't think of something related to Minecraft.

One is personal, the other isn’t,, one is made by your own standards for YOU, the other is made by your standards for SOMEBODY ELSE without the other persons input (usually) !!!
So yea, telling people not to have certain friends for YOUR OWN COMFORT instead of theirs is a rule, not a boundary, since it isn’t personal to you, and rather is made to restrict the other person from doing something that they may want to that doesn’t involve you :-)
