I like that concept with Aries but I’d like to see him come back merges to Lucifer from darksiders there’s so many things Aries was going to do that we didn’t see happen since kratos went all god slayer mode I’d love to see those ideas in the lit like Athena why she so quite what she been doing
Ares is actually one of the only gods that remain in greece , i mean corpse intact. Its possible we might see him the future revived or still dead

Are’s is the only one(aside from Zeus) who felt “god like”. The other gods went down far easier and didn’t pose as much a challenge for Kratos. Ares performed feats that felt like something a god would do. Throwing a giant spike halfway across Greece with pin point accuracy to impale Kratos because he felt like it(which showed he could have stopped Kratos whenever he pleased....just toying with him). Playing mind games, causing hallucinations etc. Kratos slapped the other gods around like they were annoyances in God of War III. The manual did say however that Kratos was getting more powerful with each battle and Zeus feared that he could he could become dangerous. So im guessing his power had increased significantly by the time of God of War III.
Another reason why many of the Gods died so easily in God of War III, was due to what preceded their death:
- Poseidon: after a gruelling battle with Kratos, he got punched squarely by a Titan in the chest of his water form but by the looks of it, when Kratos throws him against the rocks, the punch really damaged his body, which isn't that unusual seeing how he was just hit by a God.
- Hades: His body died when his soul was removed by his own claws, weapons he used to steal the soul of Cronos.
- Helios: Before his beheading he was crushed in the hand of Perses, a Titan.
Only Hephaestus, Hera and Hermes died rather easily, without suffering significant damage before or have their soul removed prior to their death. With Hermes you could say that being crushed beneath the statue did wounded him significantly (and he was always a lesser god) and with Hephaestus, the beating he received from Zeus might have done him almost in. I mean, Atreus could harm Modi with ease after the latter was beaten up by Thor. Also, with the end of God of War III, we know that he was able to kill Gods ever since he opened Pandora's Box, so this allowed him to be a lot more efficient when it came to god killing.

It could've been Ares ultimate plan, use Kratos to destroy everything and everyone until he finally defeated Zeus and then once Kratos left Greece, Ares used his soul to revive his body and take over Greece as the new King of Olympus.

SPOILER WARNING: Okay so one of my theories is that Kratos will die in his fight with Thor, but it will happen when Atreus is older. I think this is how Jormungandr is born from the wrath of Atreus after seeing his father killed. After I do believe that his mother’s ashes play a huge role in resurrecting the dead giants. However, i don’t believe they will activate until Atreus is older and ready to lead the siege on Asgard. I think Atreus will also follow the path of GOW2 in which he will travel to the past to save Kratos from being killed. I think time travel is going to be very important, but more so in the sense of Einstein’s theory of relativity more than just going back in time. I think Atreus will learn how to manipulate time in a way where he can save his father. Just a theory

I think we will die during the first fight with Thor and he will go to Valhalla which is the backdoor entrance to Asgard where he will rescue Atreus who Thor took and imprisoned. The two will then take down Thor.

Ares soul kinda sounds like how after Zeus and Athena died they ascended into ghost like forms so it could be the same thing but he is trapped somehow and kratos says that Zeus is unaware of that camber so it is likely it is still there. Just speculation but wouldn’t it be cool if Kratos and Atreus travel to Greece to get the help of ares to defeat the Norse gods and ares in his ascended form takes the role of Surtr the fire giant that leads the charge in destroying Asgard. Ares and surtr seem similar both holding a lot of hate and anger they bring war and destruction and both have a fire motif

Ohhh, i remember this secret. One of the best easter eggs i've ever seen in a game. Also, the idea of Hades using the soul of Ares to launch an atack on Olympus sounds kinda plausible. Maybe when we will get the remastered games, we will also have more details on this. Cool video as allways, man!

I’ve also been curious why they seemed to go evil. Mimir referenced coming from another land to serve Odin and there was a gradual personality shift and paranoia very similar to Zeus I think

I'm so happy that people are still talking about the very first gen god of war, and there's things never discovered too.
I wonder, if ever of course, Kratos will at some point in God of War 5 go to Helheim and like seeing Zeus, Kratos will see Ares but that of course according to Mimir is an illusion projected by the tormented memories of those who inhabit the realm. Would make sense because Ares was the one who made Kratos the bloodthirsty and war hungry man he is prior to God of War 2018

Maybe, Kratos took Ares’s soul with him when he left Greece and went to Scandinavia. Not necessarily knowing what to expect and that way he has both the souls and power of both his uncle and brother to keep him safe. And maybe, either Hades or even Ares’s souls might play a part in bringing Kratos back to life in God of War 5.

If Sony Santa Monica studios decided to fully remake God of War: Betrayal they should this easter egg as a cannon like boss fight or something.
I'm still happy with the story we get, the story of God of War 2, where Cory Barlog directed it, to me it is a satisfying one.
If Ares returns, I hope it's only a haunting memory, wouldn't make sense to me at this point, I only want to see Athena.
I also believe Kratos and Atreus will go back to Mount Olympus to retrieve a weapon or weapons from the Throne of War. I personally think that before Kratos left Greece, he locked away all his acquired physical weapons in his throne room, which only he could access. Would be nice to see Atreus with a fire weapon, the Bow of Apollo, and perhaps other iconic weapons of the series, specifically from GoW 3.
Maybe he's behind Odin and Thor. Because if this message is canon, then Ares is the only one who survived the destruction of Olympus. Maybe he's pulling the strings.

Finally, a story worth hearing
It is very possible that it can be picked back up. Maybe, something similar has happened to Tyr, the Norse god of war, and they had to go to Greece to retrieve the soul of Ares to free Tyr and give him a new body.
I still think that Kratos will time travel and end up being revealed as Tyr although we known he is Farbauti. The only way I see it is that Tyr is locked up in Asgard and Mimir presumes he is dead.

If Kratos was Tyr Mimir, Freya, Baldur and several others would have recognized him. Odin would lose his shit and immediately send far more gods after him than Baldur. We know from Tyr’s vault that he did diplomacy with the Greek pantheon so how would that even work with the timeline and how would none of the Greek gods have recognized him?

I have a theory that Kratos was never born in Sparta, he was born the bastard son of a shunned woman who had to escaped to Sparta for a new life, Kratos also mentions in GoW (2018) when he shares a drink of Lemnian wine with his son, he states that Lemnos was an Island near the place of his birth, Sparta is pretty far off from Lemnos, is it possible Kratos was born nearer to Athens seeing as Athena seems to watch over him his entire life, from convincing the Gods that Deimos was the Marked Warrior so she could spare Kratos to Forseeing Ares’ death years in advance by placing a giant sword as a bridge, to Aiding him in toppling Olympus. I can expand way more into this but what I’m getting at is: Is there a chance Athena made Zeus plant Kratos as another bastard child of his and manipulated the events of his life for her own gain only to have it all backfire in the last few moments?

Easter egg regarding the idea that if you destroy both the possible taxidermied statues of ares and the hugh minatour that you fight during the game, at the end of the game after you go up into Olympis. Also, I didn't realize that ares' body was buried in ice to what seems like towards the beginning of God of war 2 or 3.

And yes the chances that Magni and Modi's soul getting trapped in a secret place with Ares soul, a place that is only mentioned if you call an 800 number, is probably about as high as me be the starting QB of the Super Bowl winning football team. However, we don't know why Magni didn't comeback, even Mimir thought was strange, so Kaptain threw out a theory about that secret and I thought if they were ever going to bring it up again in a game, why not have their souls trapped there too? Even though I know it is extremely unlikely that it would happen, this is a way that they incorporate the place again.
Maybe to defeat Thor, kraytos needed to be stronger so he gets areas soul?
I kinda hope we hear/see a vision of ares in the next game but I wouldnt bet on it, since the francise got so much more popular now, it would be weird to dedicate alot of time and resources to fully showing Ares full body and all when a huge chunch of players wouldnt know who he is, fingers crossed for a 3 to 5h chapter in greece or mount olympus where he gets the blade of olympus back and some really cool nostalgic scenes.
Something that I always wondered is the writing in the sky. God of War 1 and 2 had it but 3 never did. I've been searching since it was released.

The god of war series we got is my favorite games to just go back and play through all the modes again nothing is more satisfying than killing Ares on God mode or killing Zeus but would love to have seen all the missed opportunities they showed us but didn't use and I still can't wait to see where they take us in gow5
That hallway in God of War 2 before you fight the obese sister of fate, on Titan Mode is a nightmare.
Fun fact: in the first game, there was also another ester eggs about Kratos’ mother and brother, which were faithfully used in the event of Ghost of Sparta.

what if that is why kratos was destroying Athens, to make it so more people believe/worship him than Athena, he would then be more powerful than athena, he kills her and collects/traps her soul and with the power he would have having 2 god souls (his own and athenas) he would be able to start killing off the less powerful gods and working his way up to Zeus
I almost beated God mode. I did it cheesy with the Magic Regeneration Glitch but the Sword fight bringed me in tears.

I'm happy with the direction Cory gave the game. I'm pretty sure with Jaffe it would have been just Kratos wanting to rule Olympus rather than destroy it so it would have turned out pretty boring in the end.
Imagine Kratos harnesses all the greek god souls to defeat Thor or even Odin himself to the point where certain features of him resembles different gods like those spider arms from Aries

In my opinion this Easter Egg was supposed to be a Secret Boss Fight in a potential future game (probably GoW 2 or Ghost of Sparta) but that was never implemented

What if in the next game that chamber has all the souls of the gods Kratos killed in Greece, Odin somehow revives the souls in said next game so we have Zeus fight in Ragnarok but the rest of the Greek gods would be the 5th or 6th games version of the Valkyries. Optional bosses that are really hard but fun
That would be terrible tbh. We've already fought the Greek mythology through 6 games, better off continuing in other mythologies like Egyptian.

Even if Ares does come back to life it will probably require kraits or the Norse gods to discover the secret chamber. But orators will have the upper hand as he already knows where it is and he could probably manipulate ares. This would give him a great advantage if tyr is introduced. Kraatos will have three god of wars on his team : himself tyr and ares
I have a question, so why in gow 3 pandora died touching pandora’s box causing it explosion but at the end kratos said it was empty, was it really empty ? How did kratos defeated zeus with the power of hope if zeus already took his first pandora power as an eagle in gow 2 when he sucked all his power and put it in the big status ? I’m confused as hell that my question is hard to understand

Super Warrior Man Kratos had gotten the power of hope in gow 2 when he was a full fledged god and his most powerful form in the franchise he just didn’t use it until he killed Zeus in gow 3
He got his powers back when facing Zeus at the end of GOWII, when he absorbed the power from Zeus's hand with the Blade of Olympus.

I personally still hold it as canon because there's nothing that contradicts it, even though the story was never picked up again. Although, if you read the God of War comics set between Ghost of Sparta and God of War II, the followers of Ares attempt to use the Ambrosia of Asclepius to resurrect him. On one of the comic book covers it shows a disembodied Ares, his form made entirely out of fire, implying it is his soul we are seeing. While areas never appears in the pages of the comics themselves, I believe this is an indication that the soul of Ares imprisoned on Olympus came into play somehow. Had the writers explored the story more (which it's not too late to do), it is possible that the followers of Ares somehow obtained his soul from Olympus and were attempting to resurrect his body.
