      Kratos indirectly weakened them in the course of his journey though.
      Athena = Destruction of Athens
      Poseidon = Destruction of Atlantis
      Helios = Destruction of City of Rhodes
      Hera = Destruction of Olympus
      And also may I remind you that Zeus destroyed Sparta which made Kratos lose his shit.

      That's kinda what it looks like to me. From Ascension to gow 1, the Olympian gods looked like they were impossible to beat and kratos even lost to Charon the boat man who is one of the weaker gods, and needed the sun sheild and the gauntlet of Zeus which are some of the most powerful weapons in the gowverse. He needed both Pandora's box and the sword of judgement to barely beat ares. In gow 2, despite being a full god, Zeus was still so much stronger than kratos that he zapped away half of his power in an instant. By gow 3, he's beating zeuses ass with just the chained blades and brute strength.

    Its a good theory but i don't really think this is how to weak a god. Kratos unleashed the power to kill a god from pandoras box this is why its easy for him to kill any god easly no matter if he's greek or not. And you can find my point true because of killing baldur without destroying something related to him. The power he took from pand box made him the god killer

    I love this video, it's very well thought out and makes good points. There's one thing I can add to this theory that can reinforce it lol
    I think once the world was in havoc by killing the other gods, like with the floods caused by Poseidon's death and the sun dying from Helios' death, disease from Hermes' death, and Hera's death killing all plant life (If I recall correctly), I think that was enough for everyone to stop believing in the Gods all together, including Zeus, also keep in mind the Flood might've destroyed his statue and since he is literally the King of the Gods, mankind would have questioned why Zeus wont just stop all of it, thus making them want to stop believing in Zeus, thus weakening him.
    But thats my take on it anyway lol, all and all, great video, keep it up!

  • @DARTH__REVAN
    @DARTH__REVAN 4 года назад +12

    Based on your theory :
    Greek gods needs worshippers but i believe that besides worshipping and prayers fear can be another source for power of gods of Olympus dor example in Egyptian mythology which is kinda similar to Greek in the way of prayers and worshipers the gods of Egypt demand prayers from humans but they use fear as a better way to gain more human followers so based on their demands and your theory i do think that they need humans to get. Stronger
    But in Norse mythology i do think statues are what makes them stronger not statues particularly but it has something to do with it since in Norse mythology humans dont really pray that much but they build many statues in honor of their selected by choice gods I mean every time humans in norse myth feel that a particular god is angry at them they build a statue of that god the bigger the better ( but i also do think that fear has something to do with it even in Norse because Odin is the most powerful and the most feared god of all )
    What do u think ?
    But also keep in mind that there are some gods that didn't have many followers but were strong enough to give us a bit of a tough time defeating them.

  • @ulisesdiale4004
    @ulisesdiale4004 4 года назад +6

    Wow...This theory is really interesting, I love it.
    But...what do the gods really need from their worshippers? I mean, Kratos says to Atreus the gods don't care about men lives... And they just frighten them with curses and punishments... Do they feed themselves with the fear of their worshippers to them? That's why Kratos could fight them all? Maybe they all were just terrified of Kratos, actually Zeus was. Maybe Kratos could like feed himself with the fear he caused to the gods... Maybe the gods had fear of Kratos, due to Persephone's curse on Kratos, if the theory was true.
    Maybe Persephone planned to curse Kratos and Olympus in revenge of her marriage to Hades.
    Ares wanted to take down Olympus, maybe by making Kratos kill his own family would have been fed with Kratos' fear (although things didn't go as planned).

  • @anthonyhernandez7799

    I always though that in GOT the "gods" where like "batteries", as they may need to be recharged wether that be through prayer (like with the Greek gods) or perhaps through elements. Maybe the Norse gods are charged not through prayer but by their respective element (maybe location) balder may be recharged by exposure to light, Thor may be recharged by exposure to lightning. And maybe with frayja, she's recharged by her connection to extra dimensional energies (i.e. magic). I don't know it's just a theory.

    1. The one who went down the easiest in God Of War 3 was Hermes
    2 .The Colossus of was Rhodes was brought to life by Zeus draining most of Kratos's power and giving it to the statue.
    3 . Poseidon in his elemental form took down 2 Titans and would have killed Gaia if not for Kratos.
    4 .Kratos was infused with the power of hope the "only thing" capable of killing a God, that's why it was easy for him to kill the Gods.

    WELLLLLLLLLL since kratos was the god of war and so was ares and athena and they died without losing any sort of worshipers so the theory doesn't make sense and also kratos is still alive after zues destroyed sparta which was a well known place to worship the god of war. But it is interesting that ares was always after athena even tho they both traveled together to kidnap kratos's brother deimos, and in god of war ascension it was revealed that ares was trying to over throw Olympus with the help if kratos, but maybe that just shows how evil gods are in some cases

    Kuba I have a bunch of theories I want you too here Theory 1 : can a god die out of his domain, when a god dies some curse/ power is released like killing Hermes and releasing desease, well if kratos dies would his power release in Norse land or travel too Greek land or if his power won’t release in Norse land or travel too Greek lands could kratos not die and his power would rather be drained into his own body too heal him.thereby making his power kill himself over time. This would explain in the novel ( where ares was in the Egyptian dessert why he was not attacked making the Egyptian gods would know this and purposely not attack area in Egypt because he was not in greek land. theory 2: is kratos invincible because he’s a god or because he is cursed, kratos was cursed by the oracle of Sparta in god of war 1 and she said that he would walk the earth for hundreds of years soooo kratos could be immortal because of the oracles curse and not because he was a god. But in god of war 4 in the first fight with balder you see kratos’s skin materialize this could be his godly powers or the curse that the Oracle set and he could of learned how too Bend the curse too his will. Also if zues could transform could it be that zues was also the oracle because the curse is similar too the curse placed on Prometheus near the start of god of war 2. ( I think zues gave kratos this curse too make him come alive after he entered hades and zues for told this and so kratos could stay alive while in hades and climb up the grave he dug. Theory 3: does jormungander remember Atreus at the end of god of war 4 and does mimir remember jormungander telling him that he recognizes Atreus because the death of bandit could have changed the outcome of ragnorok and thereby changing jormunganders memory. Theory 4 : did kratos “DIE” at the end of god of war 3? Kratos has basically the power of 2 gods at the end of god of war 3 and stabbed himself with the blade of Olympus this released the power of hope and made him weak enough to give up most of his weapons , scince the blade of Olympus is extremely powerful I believe it is powerful enough too circumvent the oracles curse and actually kill kratos . But I also think that the blade could only hold the power of 1 god so I think when kratos stabbed himself with the blade that the greek pantheons power was drained into the blade and filled it then kratos’ s body released the m power of hope too mankind which is Something that in my opinion mimics goldy powers being released and then kratos thought he was immortal and then went too Scandinavia. This would mean that the Greek domain thinks that kratos is dead which means kratos fooled the world. Theory 5: does kratos still decide the outcome of Greek wars scince he is still the Greek god of war And theory 6: what did Athena do with the blade of Olympus? She might have used it’s power too help rebuild Olympus ( like in the picture on the god of war mug) or did she do something completely different I personally think that she is trying too resurect herself and claim the power that is in the blade of olympus and controll the power of hope that mankind has.

    Poseidon seemed weak because he was fighting a full powered Kratos. The Kratos Poseidon fought was endgame GoW 2 Kratos who fought Zeus at the end of that game(And nearly won). It was only after his fight with Poseidon that Kratos fell to Hell and lost most of his powers swimming through the river of death. That's why he struggled more in later fights of GoW 3.

What if in a future sequel Atreus finds out a bunch of the gods in Egypt are dead because of him and that's how he initially learns about Kratos having killed Aries? Itd be interesting having Kratos tell him bits and pieces of his old life just to have Atreus piece it together by traveling and learning of the good and bad he's done then trying to form his own opinion on his father. If he were to hear about the deeds from the Olympians he'd probably get the absolute bloodiest depiction of his father but what if in Egypt the remaining gods know Kratos for dealing with a dangerous threat to their borders

    Something else about Kratos, I think he is a demigod in the Greek pantheon (for not having a role in Mount Olympus as a God), but in the Norse one he could be considered a God due to his power level and having a Godly father.
    In Norse mythology I believe that if you are strong and powerful like a God, then the Gods can invite you to their land and say you are a God (just how some Giants like Loki and Tyr are considered to be Gods, and in the game, someone said Magni and Modi are demigods even though they are the same as Thor and Odin, they have a giant mother. It's because of their power level).
    Besides in the real Norse mythology they are not inmortal, they use some apples to stop aging
    (In a way, demigods in Greek mythology could be considered unemployed Gods)
    In summary, demigod in Greek mythology means having one Godly parent and not having a role in Olympus, in the Norse mythology a demigod is someone with a low power level but higher than mortal beings.

    This theory might explain why Zeus moved on to Sparta (according to last Spartan soldier Kratos fought befor Kraken) after killing Kratos in the beginning of GOW 2. Zeus learned Kratos somehow escaped hell so he sought the destruction of Sparta to weaken Kratos.
    My memory is a little foggy about this next one but: can this be the reason why Kratos turned back in time to right after his murder by Zeus? He needed a timeline that he is actually dead but still had the worshipers (thus, the strength to fight Zeus).

    When comparing the Greek gods to the Norse gods, I always try to remember how each of their respective mythological realms differ greatly in their rules. Many aspects of Greece and its adjacent realms were almost completely held together or kept in motion by a god (or titan, if you count atlas), which caused some form of chaos on the world whenever something was out of place....while Midgard and the rest of the Norse realms seem to operate much more on autopilot, since there doesn’t seem to be a god that is needed to control and maintain each of the aspects of the worlds. Much of Midgard’s monuments to the gods are abandoned and no real mortal worshippers are shown either, at least in the latest game.
    It is very much possible that with the differing rules for each of these realms comes differing rules on their gods in terms of powers and weaknesses. If indeed the Greek gods were weakened by losing followers, then it would seem this weakness may not be attributed to the Norse gods, at least not with what has been shown of late. Only time will tell.

    I think there's a difference to the powers of the gods and how they are worshipped by their people.
    The amount of tribute and the success of Greece may be so great that their gods rely on it, but I feel like Norse gods don't revolve around as much tribute other than prayers and blessings for the sake of the believers.
    And Norse god powers usually come from their magical weapons and great knowledge in magic, the apples of Idun making them immortal in age, but they have always been known to be able to die by natural causes although they are very durable. While the Greek gods are more godly, their powers are their own, and the weapons they use are secondary as mere extensions of their power.
    While Thor can loose his hammer and we'll be left just a very strong man.
    There's so much to think of.

    Poseidon was not the weakest Olympian and was not taken down easily. If Kratos was not there to stop him, he would have single handedly destroyed all of the titans. We saw him flinging the titans off Mount Olympus like children. If Kratos didn't help Gaia, he likely would have killed her too. So he is actually the second strongest Olympian, as he should be.
    Also, he did not go down the easiest. His fight vs Kratos lasted way longer than a lot of other fights in gow 3 and he got super punched by Gaia then tackled by Kratos at super sonic speed before Kratos brutally finished him off. Also, Helios got crushed by a Titan and still lived. Given how easy it was for Kratos to kill Hermes, he would have died if crushed like that.
    Other than that, love your videos and always interested at hearing your theories! :)

    This theory applys to the American God's TV series. They say if a god has worshippers, then the god can't be killed easily and if killed can come back. If a god no longer has worshippers then the god can be killed more easily and if killed can't come back.

    With this theory in mind is actually very logical how Kratos managed to kill Zeus at the end of GOW 3. Just think about it, the whole city of Olympia venerates Zeus and Kratos practically leaves it in ruins as he goes along the mountain, which as a consequence, weakens Zeus himself. I believe this because at the start of GOW 3 Zeus needs nothing more than some of his power to blast Gaia and Kratos away, while in the final battle he's constantly struggling against Kratos

  • @paramvanshsingh7637
    @paramvanshsingh7637 4 года назад

    Kratos did use the strategy of killing the worshippers, that is why Zeus stopped him in god of war 2 saying you will never be the ruler of Olympus, since kratos destroyed cities known for worshipping the gods, and Zeus understood the plan of kratos

    The fact that the live prayers are not needed for Norse gods is probably because that they don't necessarily need living prayers in their code of religion because as we all know when you die in Norse you go to Valhalla and await the Ragnarok which means it is beneficial for gods there if you die

    Im quite sure the disasters unleashed upon the world killed most of the worshipers. Notably, Poseidon's death have sunken most of Greece, leaving much of the gods weaken... Except Hades, who im sure doesnt have much worshippers. As for the Spartans, pretty sure they joined their god to fight the end war.
    Also forgot Hera, who seemed to draw her power from nature, as we can see she was significantly weaken after Hermes' death.

    In Midgard kratos came across a clan of God worshipers who worshiped a god of fury so in turn they embodied fury which took the form of a bear, they had a totem that they focused their worship on so they could gain the power of fury. Until kratos burned them and they could not longer fight as bear, so they were useless to him and he killed them all with ease

    This theory is identical to what happens in American Gods (the Prime Original). Traditional Old Gods are getting weaker and dying or stooping to incredible lows as a result of a lack of faith/belief/worship. And New God's like Media and Technology are being born in response to people's new obsessions.

    I could explain that with so many ways like maybe his power was based on his weapon and Magic attackes that were given to him in story or from pendoras box that helped him to defeat areas or from his rage that gives him power because i always see his Blades are red when attacking i hope you'll make a video about that

    I think that destroying worshippers can weaken Gods but I don't think it'll outright kill them immediately ... and as far as the Norse gods go we haven't actually really seen any of them when they had worshippers so we have no idea how strong their support they would be with or without worshippers... and while number of worshipers Might increase a God's power I don't think it's the only source of power/sustenance for them.. Tyr had many followers but it's clear that number of followers is not the only measure of a God strength.

And before you say the power of hope in gow 3 it was stated that he didn't have access to it until the end with zeus so he shouldn't have been able to kill poseidon or hades or even hermes. Hades i might let slide because of his chains but still.

    • @edgardtheknowledgekeeper3119
      @edgardtheknowledgekeeper3119 4 года назад +2

      Leviathan Axe is the most constantly by lore to be stronger. Some people do misinterpret a line in the novels when Kratos needs to go to Helheim and needs the blades, the novels use a phrasing of "you need something stronger" but this doesn't inherently mean it's outright more powerful as a whole compared to the Leviathan Axe, it just means it's more powerful in Helheim a land of nothing but ice, obviously the Axe isn't going to be useful there. But the Axe by lore is actually stated to be the equal to Mjölnir by Brok and Sindri at the end of the game, and Thor breaks the Yggdrasil with Mjölnir against Jormungandr. So you should be correct, Leviathan Axe is more than likely stronger.
