The gods are very arrogant and selfish, with Ares being one of the most arrogant. He wouldn't think that a mere mortal would be able to defeat a God like him.
@@Josef217 It is. That's literally God of War's story. All Olympians and other beings are overconfident and underestimate Kratos, because they believe he will not succeed.
and also...he believed the box had ancient evil beings that would destroy anything in their way. He didn't expect Kratos to get big after opening it.
This is the boss fight that made Kratos a God Destroyer.
Funny that he killed Persephone before ever killing Ares
Persephone was a threat to Olympus.

The gods , demigods, and enemies were so damn stupid throughout GOW1-3.
Kratos actually tries to spare them, and they kept getting in his way and pissing him off
Hermes, Hercules, Hera, Perseus, Theseus, Icarus, Zeus, efc.
I realized that They all instigated their own deaths. Kratos would have left them alone if they didn’t attack him first
I realized that Kratos isn’t as crazy as I thought growing up.
Hera, Hermes and Icarus were truly stupid. Hera just mouthed off, Hermes really had nothing going for him but his speed, and Icarus had some weird obsession with his task.

What still gets me to this day is that even with the power of Pandora's Box, Ares STILL had the edge against Kratos.
A lot of fans overlook the fact that Ares was more powerful than people wanted to admit.
He is weaker in mythology
Ares looks like he would of been a handful for the other gods to deal with, they were probably happy to see Kratos and Ares killing each other instead of targeting olympus even though it din't save them in the end.

Kratos was already a GOD KILLER before this game since he killed Persephone in Chains Of Olympus
I think Chains Of Olympus is God Of War 2 Prologue, in my opinion though.

I remember being a 7 year old in 2005 trying to beat kratos's clones so many times i ended up leaving the game unbeaten for months because of frustration. And yeah i did beat the game after trying again 2-3 times and it is one of the best memories of my childhood. God of war is my childhood and still playing the series till this day console after console. God of War and God of War 2 had the best stories,plot and gameplays it remains unbeaten

In mythology ares is a great and strong warrior but then in the game they made him a real monster

The only reason I keep my ps3 is because of the 6 original gow games...
I remember this part on very hard difficulty. Took me a week to find that might of hercules was very effective against zombies as well as preserving the rage for emergency while sustaining the whole fight.

@@Quantum_Noir You present a very valid argument ngl. But I'm sure they'ed innovate new ways to make the three classics fit the mold of GoW 2018 and GoW-R. It would be a challenge, but this is the same group of brilliant game creators that not only reinvented their flagship franchise. But did it to superb effect.
Unreal Engine is not good for combat. Literally all Unreal Engine games have trashy combat mechanics. You are not actually hitting your opponents or getting hit by them, it's just playing some animations. And that's my biggest disappointment in newer God of War games. They could've kept the original game engine with elegantly designed combat, but instead they became lazy and targeted a different audience with cinematic gameplay experience.
They should just leave the original games be. I love the old combat mechanics, not the newer ones.

This was amazing yet so sad and so powerful. I always hated there’s no new game plus and how you could never use the beautiful blades of Athena & you can’t max out the blades of chaos
You could max out all the weapons by the end of the game if you worked for it.
The Blue Blades of Athena are in Gow Ghost of Sparta for a Full Game and In Gow Betrayal It has some Ablities from Gow 1.

Fighting the twisted Kratos clones sucked on max difficulty. Best way to do it was by relying on each of his spells in combination with Rage of Sparta.
Why did kratos prayed to Ares if he was a demigod like Hercules and Perseus? He should have the power to defeat the barbarian king. Pls someone explain
He didn’t know he was a demigod then. It’s likely that his powers were only just beginning to manifest when he was forced to pray to Ares.
The barbarian king was hades champion actually and the army and him were boosted so it equaled the playing field to a degree
