Right, it is of course a disgrace of Acer how they designed this keyboard. You want to replace your keyboard every two years or so. Acer does not want that. They want you to buy a new laptop. If you want to replace the whole keyboard you have to buy a top case for $120 and work for three hours to remove everything from the Laptop to install a new keyboard. A disgrace that Acer should be sued. Just like in the video above, the keyboard is in such lousy condition that it would require to replace the whole keyboard.
I have a samsung notebook and the W keeps falling when i press it, pretty much the same design as the one in the video. I've searched but with no results, the white spring detach from the hook bellow, and I'm scared of using a glue in the wrong way and messing the whole thing. And of course I would like to do it on my own to save money, but if really is no other option I'll find someone in my town to fix it
So, I got this problem with one of my keys where the keycap came off with my retainer clip attached too it, I tried taking off the hinge clip first, then reattaching that then putting on the keycap, cool, fine and dandy, but everytime they both end up coming off, I checked for any damage to the keycap and the retainer clip, but nothing seems to be damaged, so I'm insanely confused on why it won't attach (unless something is broken and it's practically microscopic where I just can't notice). I'd like to know if you got any advice on how to fix this issue, I have looked other videos and the one that I mostly been told is that: "If your keycaps come attached with your retainer-clip, that means either it wasn't put in properly or something is damaged and in that case, you have to buy a replacement," or "The metal pins that hold the retainer-clip together are either broken or bent" (which so far the metal pins look just fine as well) I really hope this isn't the case, cause I haven't had this thing for very long and it's this is already a pain, so if you have another possible solution I would be glad to hear it. Thanks in advance.
Did you ever find a fix? My W key keeps coming off and when it first came off, the retainer clip was on the key itself - every time the key slides off I usually have to take the retainer off the key with tweezers and put it back in place as a temporary fix. I don't think the retainer is damaged but the rubber thing did come unglued
@@HahaHumon Sad to say, but no, after all the research that I did, I got nothing, I ended up just giving up and dealing with the fact that I have to snap the key-cap and retainer-clip back in over and over again just so I can type normally, so that sucks. In your case though, if the rubber piece actually came un-glued, that's very bad, cause that's how the key registers itself when you type, so it's practically damaged and won't work correctly, I have heard some people say "use glue" to put it back on, but I wouldn't recommend that, cause you don't want to get glue in any of the components, other than that, your only option (so I been told on this matter) is that you have to replace that piece as well. That's about all I got.
I tried putting the key back in but for some reason the key pops back out when I press at the top of the key. The retainer clip is attached to the key whenever I try putting it back in
im no professional but i was having the same issue. when i checked the back of the key, i realised the small notches on the back had broken, causing it to pop off the retainers. i ordered some replacement keys and am waiting for the delivery
If goes abou replacment all key in keyboard laptop this was very difficult procedure for me XD I broken three key haahah XD so each learning itself on your onw mistake ;)
My keycap fell off but took the retainer with it, they are in one piece. How do I fix this?
