I was nervous to take a key off since i know the scissor mechanism is super annoying to out back in. Watching this taught me that if you're careful the mechanism will stay on one half. Very useful and eased my worries. If it had come off idk how I would have gotten it back on.

I was surprised (well I had found out by placing smoke near keyboard) to see air intake holes on keyboard assembly. Like on keys: f1, f2, 1, 2, Q, W. All those years of buildup had blocked the intakes causing the internal cooling fan to work more and the laptop being hot. Even with Thermal paste application was not that effective (it did help quite a bit) but cleaning and removing unwanted blockage improved cooling by a lot. Not theoretically (software based measurements) but in real life use.

Just fixed my shift key after watching this tutorial, if the metal bar is just straight (total of 2 bends in the bar) then first insert the bar into its slots then guide the key forward first then lock it into its mechanism downwards then backwards (the guide says backward and then forwards which didn't work in my case due to very minute design changes)

I LOVE YOU! ❤️ *LOVE!* (Oh, you're HP Support...) Yes that helped. I've got the numpad keyboard on my Envy and use my pgdn so much I was LOST when a dumped milk glass hit the keyboard. I did all the things (off, unplug, towels to shake dampness off) and everything was fine except my pgdn. Popped that sucker off WHILE THIS VIDEO WAS RUNNING 😂 and alcohol swab + isopropyl and, you won't be getting this laptop back in your shop this week. WHEW! Thank you.
(My Enter key is just a _tad_ sluggish; barely noticeable, and that one might get the next super-clean!)

Apparently HP Pavilion x360 keys have more complex keys, so after removing one key to try the whole process it was pretty clear to me it would be hard to put back on. By now I've been trying to put back the key for an hour and still can't do it. How do I manage with my keyboard?

    • @HPSupport
      @HPSupport  4 года назад

+Baby Hitler Follow these steps to clean the keyboard on HP notebooks:
      - Turn off the computer, and then disconnect all cables.
      - If the notebook has a removeable battery, slide the battery release latch, and then remove the battery.
      - On the stuck key, slide a flat blade under the side closest to the screen, just enough to get under the key.
      - Lift the key, and then use your finger to hold it in a lifted position.
      - Slide the blade under the opposite side of the key, and then pry up to remove it.
      - The key and mechanical assembly might come off, or the key will come off and the mechanical assembly remains on the keyboard.
      - If possible, do not remove the mechanical assembly from either the key or keyboard.
      - They can be cleaned while still attached.
      - If available, spray the area with compressed air to remove any loose debris.
      - Dampen a cotton swab with rubbing alcohol, clean the parts of the keyboard like keys, mechanical assembly and the entire exposed area on the keyboard.
      - If any cotton from the swab gets stuck on the keyboard or mechanical assembly, use your fingers or tweezers to remove it.
      - Wait 30 seconds to allow the area to dry.
      - To reinstall a key, slide the front of the key into its original position and press down until it snaps into place.
      - Slide your finger up the key and press down on all four corners to attach the contact points.
      - If you previously removed a battery from the laptop, reinstall it.
      - Reconnect all cables, and then turn on the computer.
      - Open Notepad or another word processing application and test your keyboard.
      - If the keys still stick, repeat the process to clean the areas again.

+Persephone Follow these steps to clean the keyboard on HP notebooks:

@@HPSupport Hello. I have currently HP EliteBook 850 G6. It is my work machine, given to me by my employer. Unfortunately, there is nothing I could do to repair the fallen keys, because the plastic micro pins on them broke. The only solution is to replace the entire keyboard. I have the opposite problem. My keyboard buttons work normally, but my r, 5 & 4 keys don't do anything when depressed. The f & d keys work normally most of the time, but occasionally don't register the first time I hit them. I touch type, which makes it difficult to rewire my brain around my alternatives (I have to paste my r, and god forbid I should have to update a spreadsheet). Also, capitals are a pain, and I've written off percentages and dollar signs as too much hassle. This happened between one night's gaming and the next, while I was at work the following day, and I can only suspect something must have gotten into the works, but I can't get under the keyboard panel to look at it. Is there a way to lift up the whole panel? I feel like I did this once before, but I don't remember why. I think I did it from the inside, though, which seems counterintuitive?

+Hamza Guiling Follow these steps to clean the keyboard on HP notebooks:
