  • Use this video to help you replace and install an individual key for an HP Pavilion 15-N Series computer. Be careful of the Retainer Clip so as not to break them. They can be difficult to find for sale. If needed, consider purchasing a keyboard and taking keys off as needed. If you need to see how to replace a larger key, refer to this video; • How To Fix Large Keybo... . Check out the FAQ's and Related Video Links below !!

    FAQ's:
Q: My Key Cap will not click down in place correctly. Whats wrong?
A: If your Key Cap is not clicking down in place correctly, it is most likely due to the Retainer Clip not being properly installed or damaged. Remove the Cap and inspect for damage or that its not laying down flush and properly snapped in itself. Compare to another Clip if needed by removing another Cap.
Q: Where can I purchase replacement keys?
A: I usually get my keys on Ebay or www.laptopkeys.... If you cannot find a loose key for sale, you may have to purchase a keyboard and take a key from there.
Q: I have a Key or Keys that are not working. Will this fix them?
A: This video is a tutorial on how to replace a key. If your keys are not working but are not mechanically broken, troubleshoot them as seen here; • How To Fix Troubleshoo... .
Q: The hinge clip came appart into two pieces. How can I reassemble?
A: They fit together with a small plastic pin on the left and right of the inner clip. These fit into holes on the outer clip. To see exactly how the inner clip sits in the outer clip, remove another key cap and copy the clip under it.
Q: The rubber spring came off. How do I reattach it?
A: There isnt really a good way to reattach those. They are not meant to be replaced. Best advice is try to use a small amount of glue. If that does not work, you may have to replace the keyboard.

Weird....the clips are upside down on my girlfriend's Pavilion 15-F(which I'm cleaning up due to her spilling vegetable oil on the keyboard). So I had to watch this video upside down. I tore apart the rest of the laptop's inards in order to soak up the oil and cotton-scrub with 99% Isopropyl...so now the final part is lifting each of these individual keys(and the clips/brackets) to clean up the last of the oil. Anyway...thanks for the video.

@@PC_Monkey Well, fortunately vegetable oil isn't a great electrical conductor...but it's still certainly a nuisance...and an eventual hinderance for certain mechanical elements within the laptop.
Since my original comment to your video, I realized that I wasn't having consistent success with removing the brackets underneath the keys without having something go wrong.
So I found that I could purchase an entire keyboard replacement piece for $13 on Amazon....so I'll be installing that this week. It just seemed more time/cost efficient to do so, instead of paying $5 per key replacement.
Oh...another weird discover I had was when I removed the right-arrow key. It had a different type of bracket underneath the key, compared to the other similar-sized keys. But, to satisfy my curiosity...I lifted the left-arrow key...and the bracket underneath that key was just like the rest of the similar-sized keys. So I feel like I just unveiled an Easter Egg. Weird.

My keycap gets out after a few clicks what to do do i need glue to fix it

    • @PC_Monkey
      @PC_Monkey  6 месяцев назад

I never recommend using glue as glue may stop the free movement of the components. If my key was loose, I would uninstall, inspect for damage and then reinstall if no damage was found. If damage was found, I would replace the key

@@PC_Monkey the thing is only the keycap fell off from its place and the hinge cap is there only and that little rubber part is working fine the key is working fine only the thing is THE KEYCAP ISN'T GETTING BACK TO ITS USUAL PLACE AS IT IS NOT GETTING ATTACHED TO THE HINGE CAP

@@Nishant_Khanna If just the key cap fell off, then I am assuming the hinge clip is still installed correctly. The key cap would clip in and you can tell if its being put in correctly if the letter or symbol is correctly positioned. If its not clicking in it may be due to damage under the key cap or to the hinge clip where the cap is supposed to clip in. Again, if so, it would need to be replaced.
