I've never wanted to take a hammer to a thermostat this bad until I found one of these, hot or cold should never be this complex

I agree! I've set mine to "Permanent Hold". We just switch from heat to cool as needed and use "+" or "-" to change the temp as needed. Where's the old-fashioned thermostats that worked like "Permanent Hold" all the time?

Finally figured out how to get it out of "lock mode", and get the furnace back-up, re-set, and running again. With poor eyesight, this thermostat is both hard to see, as well as operate, if the landlord takes the instruction booklet for himself. I nearly panicked, when it showed I had accidently locked it, by mistake. It's nearly at the freezing mark outside today, and temperature was dropping indoors. Thank goodness I have things back to normal again. What a pain in the butt these thermostats are. Rather have the old style thermostats.

Why does it say “Heat On” on the right corner of the thermostat screen? I’ve noticed that when that shows up the heater is not cooling to the temp that I want it to.
How do? you simply turn this system off and on again? I dont want to use all these settings off on thats it. Every time I turn the system to off do I leave the fan on auto or on it continues to run?
How do you set it to turn off automatically when it reaches the desired temperature?
Fan auto will stop it when temperature is reached

The programming. I installed 15 today same T Stat all carriers heat pumps package units and I had no problems at all .
The new box comes with a manual to set up the schedule
and a manual to set up the T Stat and the unit they are two different setups
I hate it. Honeywell WiFi version 8000. No backlight, hard to read, all digital. He set it at 70 and I’m shivering,
this is the worst thermostat i’ve ever used in my entire life. i’m convinced they made this while on crack because why the fuck is it so complicated to turn make the house HOT OR COLD. my last house all you had to do with turn the switch to auto or on, then on the other switch it’s hot, cold or off. simple, easy, and not frustrating.
I know right? My last thermostat has a ❄️ and 🔥 logo to clearly distinguish between the 2 settings...not very user friendly but I got used to it...

This is the worst thermostat . I don’t want to program the air like that , I just want to have one temperature automatic and not running all the time. When I put the temporary hold the air doesn’t turn on until the house is in 82. If I put permanently hold doesn’t stop at all . I don’t want to program for hours or days I just want a normal thermostat. How is possible Honeywell could create something so complicated like that … horrible
I'm a senior. Totally d not understand this unit even with you good instructions. Calling the HVAC company tomorrow to see if there is a simple thermostat. This is crazy!

I have a Honeywell T4 pro. I came into my house today my heat was cut off but my fan was on auto and the house was burning up like a sauna. What's going on with my thermostat? Is there a way I can cut the fan off completely or should I just disconnect the fan wire from the T4 pro.
Thanks so much for this! This is the seventh programmable thermostat we’ve had over the years and it is the only non-user friendly non-intuitive one we’ve ever had. I couldn’t program it, even with the manual, wasting over an hour of my time before coming to RUclips to see if I could get some help. I really appreciate you putting this out there for us. This thermostat should be discontinued altogether.

I’m having a lot of trouble - must have accidentally hit a button before I left today, came home and temperature is 66 degrees. Am trying to figure out how to get it warmer!

This freakin thermostat is WAY TOO COMPLICATED...REALLY ???? I changed this one out on new tempstar for the regular Honeywell thermostat that has the cool, off, heat, emergency heat and fan auto/on. You set temp yourself up or down as you desire. All this fancy dancy thermostat thinks for itself.....throw it out the window !!!!
What if you have it on for heat but there’s no heat coming out?

I had to reset.. press menu anD THE PLUS ➕ . THAN KEEP PRESSING the ➕ until you get reset and press select ..

How do I force it to be OFF? I don't want it cold or heat, I just want to make sure it's OFF for a few days. With mode=off, and fan=auto, it the furnace keeps making noise.

I have this thermostat. I can say that I hate it. I would appreciate it if I could program it day by day, not where Mon-Fri have to be the same. Who does that? Not everyone works Mon-Fri and off on Sat-Sun. I would have never chosen this thermostat. It doesn’t even keep up with the schedule. Doing too much!
You would be looking for a thermostat that has is “7 day programmable”. There are a lot of different options, tons of which are compatible with your system. You just had to find the one with the options you love!
@@sierrallcairconditioninghe6089 Unfortunately, this thermostat was installed when I got a new furnace and AC. I never chose it. All is good, I removed it and replaced it with a Nest a few minutes ago. I love thE Nest.
@@kimmikim6084 mine came with the AC/furnace too; tell me what Nest you got? My Bryant furnace is self contained, 90% energy efficient, single burner.
As some others have commented, this thermostat is too complex. I want to disconnect the fan coming on by itself.I don’t want the fan coming on and blowing air…I don’t want or need that.What do I do stop the fan from just blowing air?
Hit the fan button till it says auto. (4th button)
At 5:31 you talk about Locking the thermostat and writing down the “number so you don’t forget.” What number are you taking about?
I am guessing it is a ‘very safe’ passcode 1234!

I miss the old ones with actual switches. Why does everything have to be digital? The old ones worked just fine. Just like appliances, no one needs a washing machine that you can operate from a cell phone.
Good thing the new landlords changed the old dials out to improperly install this so my heat doesn’t even come on when I select my temp.
Why so complex
My desired temperature is 60 but the middle temperature is stuck at 85 and I’m sweating like crazy and I don’t know how to fix it
Read my comments to see the instructions I used to get my unit to my desired temperature.

Is this compatible with a heat pump?
My house has a heat pump and this was the thermostat installed. Works fine but this particular thermostat model does not have an emergency heat option.
THANK YOU!!!!! I had my thermostat set on a temperature and it was on TEMPORARY HOLD. The desired temp setting kept changing and I could not figure out why. Your video showed me how to reset the thermostat to PERMANENT HOLD!!!! Thank You for taking the time to show us how to operate this!

Thanks for the video. Can’t believe how easy this is… now. I don’t mess with the complicated stuff just adjusting the temperature, switching from heat to cool and fan from auto to on.
Oh dear God the comments… lol In the first 90 seconds is all basic commands and how to use it. Do not go past that unless you’re fully caffeinated.

Ok my husband is OLD school and driving me nuts with this thermostat (Honeywell T4 Pro). PLEASE tell me how to cancel all programing and just manually put the air on what we want during the day and change it at night if we desire with the +/- buttons?? We have been using it this way for over a year (new home)....and one day it just started setting at 83 degrees at night, even if we try to lower it...it stays at 83 at night (not good for living in Florida). Please help? We just want to manually set it to what we want. No set Temps at certain times. Thanks!😊

@@mjkmle35gchoilnek do yourself a favor and just go to Home Depot and buy a regular thermostat and if you don't know how to install have somebody do it, takes literally 5-10 minutes we build homes usually every two years (we've built over 18) And every time they install that digital one my husband's ready to rip it off the wall. He always ends up taking it down and putting in one from Home Depot that just goes up and down Lol!
Got a new AC unit put in, this is the thermostat it came with. I really hope I can get the heat to come on....I've just been pushing random buttons 🤭
Update...I had the technician come out and it was set to a Gas furnace not electric, so he had to reset it.
Just got a new furnace today and this is the thermostat we got (big change from the dial type). The tech explained it to me pretty quickly and when I looked through the manual after he left couldn't make heads or tails of it. Thanks for this straightforward instruction.

I think I did everything I could. Permanently set as 72, auto fan, heating on, confirmed program is not set, however home temp all night and morning is 66. It is freezing in the morning. Am I missing something…?

My lock if you have that problem the code is 1234. I had a panic attack my air change to 81

I would give anything for my old thermostat back. It keeps going back up to 78 no matter what I do.
This isn't a very user friendly thermostat but I got used to it. But it's gonna be a bit tough for elderly people and maybe teens. A/C and Heater settings are not easy to read...my older thermostat at least had a picture of ❄️ and 🔥 logos. And Blue and Red colors to distinguish them.
I agree, new furnace and it’s what they installed. I can’t read what it says without using a flashlight, why no illuminate back light? This thing is 3 days old and a red light is on; tells me I’m not connected to WiFi! I told the installation guy I didn’t want to mess with WiFi connection to over ride it. Now I’m going to have to call them to come fix this thing, plus he said it doesn’t take batteries. When electric goes out will it reset itself? I already hate it.
@@dmariewalker6880 Absolutely true. It is very hard to read even with reading glasses, although I don't need one. It is not made for human eye.
Why does the fan have to be on? My heat was working fine before I had this new thermostat installed. Now I can feel the fan on when my heat Is on. My house is warm instead of hot. Please Advise.

These things are so incredibly complex and very confusing! I almost messed my works up by trying to just kick the heat on one morning bcuz it was freezing inside! I almost had a panic attack thinking I screwed the entire thing up and was gonna have to call my boss 🥶😳🤦🏻♀️
My thermostat is set to 74 on permanent hold but will only get down to 76 and only start when the temp hits 77. This just recently happened so I'm not sure why
How do you cancel the "following schedule"? My thermostat was fine all summer, but when I switched to "heat" it indicated that.

How to switch from COOL to heat?
I just want it turned off .... when I have it on off I still feel heat coming from my vents ... the auto fan is on so I’m not understanding the problem
You have to go to the ISU and set your fans to the correct settings so your unit blows out cool air.

I purchased my home in Dec. 2022. Heat worked fine. Way too hot upstairs & cold downstairs. Realized I had a programmable thermostat after reading manual last night. Now heat will not increase above 60 and I am VERY COLD now in NJ. I reset the system after learning how last night and nothing. I've tried different fan modes too. I have it set at 75, which is very high for me, to come on and warm up, but nothing. Doing a test, not sure what it does & nothing. I see some things not being discussed by anyone on RUclips under "ISU" "120 0." Then you can change it to all of these different three and four digit numbers with a sub number next to it. What is going on??? I'm soooo frustrated. The manual is useless. PLEASE HELP before I have to call a service and spend more money. Thanks!

Why would anyone want to run just the fan without heat or cold?
Mine is goes back to 70 even after turning it down every night . My wife monkeyed with it now my propane bill is 800 bucks a month. I can't figure this thing out for the life of me. Give me the old dial thermostat anyday. This thing is crap. I want to take a flamethrower to this thing.

Extremely helpful! I found this thermostat to be much more difficult to program than my previous Honeywell, but this video answered all my questions - Thank you! It was thorough, well-paced, and very clear.
If you want a 5°f differential I guess you have to hire someone😭 303 is set to 5 but it's not doing it. Furnace kicks on every 15 minutes😭

Why does my old slide style mercury stat control my heat/cool just fine. But when I switch to t4 stat the fan runs all the time. (And yes it’s on auto).
Installers replaced my smart ecobee with this relic. Can't adjust from my phone? Just punching buttons like a caveman😂😂
I don't need all those features! I didn't get into all those advanced settings I just set it to heat 55 degrees and auto fan, I'm away on vacation and just want it to stay at 55 degrees so my pipes don't freeze I'm a simple person lol did I set it right?!?

How can the fan be turned “OFF”? When heat/cool is OFF and the fan is on AUTO, it still turns on from time to time. I want the system off completely, how can I set this?

Replaced the batteries last year and had to call the heating co. to come and straighten it out. Would not return to home screen. This year I am again paying the heating co. to come and change the batteries. I don't dare touch it. This is the worst thermostat I have ever come across. I hate it!!!!!! 😦

So the program you only choose which temp you would like to set it to? So then it's always on? There's no way to schedule when it turns off or shuts off?
And I hate how there's no auto cool or auto heat. It's either permanent on or permanent off. My last house had an old thermostat and even that had something a simple as auto on/off. Moved into my new house and this is what I'm given. Definitely replacing it.
