I used to own and fly an Arrow with the high tee tail. Loved it. Eventually sold for my purchase cost.
One time couldn't get three greens for landing gear... ultimately it was my sunglasses.
One of my favorites all times airplanes ✈️, Piper Arrow , slick design, it will never get old , just like the Porsche 911.
It is a great timeless design.
My first wife was a MEII. Competent and a good instructor but had little or no feel for the airplane. She did say once that, "If you lower the gear to land, sooner or later you'll forget. If you lower the gear to slow down, you'll never forget." I don't know that that's technically true but it makes a lot of sense and has been an axiom for every pilot I know.
I had to stop and rewind a little bit when i herd some radio traffic from my airport X04 Apopka on the take off. Just started my PPL and your videos have been great funny while being informational. See you in the air!
I flew the non turbo version and the instructor I had pulled the same trick with dimming the lights on me, so I know what you were looking at. Great videos Jimmy 🙂
I did a big chunk of my training in an Arrow. Love it.
I love sneaky CFI’s. Good job.
he's a sneaky one alright!
here in Christchurch New Zealand we have possibly the oldest Pa28R-200 Arrow still flying. Still earning a living with the Canterbury Aero Club. :-)
A good practice when lowering the gear is to keep your hand on the gear switch until you verify down and locked. Prevents forgetting to verify.
Great point!
DynamicLink
Good stuff. Nice going. Hopefully you can find the Cirrus. Saludos !!!
I hope so too!
Good luck 👍
Thanks! You too!
The few airplanes that I know of that has speed and six passengers are a PA-46 and a Silver Eagle. I don't know of any that might need your tender loving care. Good luck in finding one.
That's the trick... finding that special one that's been in a hanger for a year or two and the owner needs the space or extra cash in the bank...
If your instructor had NOT thrown you a curve, he would not have been doing the job for you. But he did👍! BTW, the Piper Turbo Arrow was the same aircraft in which I completed my complex endorsement. Love the plane!
Jimmy is a open mouth breather.
Buy a Piper Aerostar. Badass ramp appeal. You could make a ton of videos as you fix it up. Good times.
heck yes!!!
I second this motion!
nice one
Great CFI
the best!
Check out the new Synergy DBT airplane - 300 kts cruise! the ultimate in ultra low drag flying
A Super Viking would be a good choices only 4 seats but fast and fun to fly
great choice!
Cessna 210 or early Piper Malibu should do it for you as far as 6 place go. The Malibu is pressurized and in the flight levels should reach close to 200 knots.
those are great choices.
Beechcraft Baron B55 or T-42a cochise is on my list. It is almost twice as fast as my 110 knot single engine airplane yet burns less than twice as much fuel, getting you there twice as fast at just under the same amount of fuel. fuel injected io-470L engines help with the fuel economy. You can opt for upgrading the engines to 300hp to go really fast and spend more money. If you choos a T-42a, you can get a cool military paint job
Avião lindo aqui no Brasil um parecido com este é o EMB Sertanejo
You can look into the, Saratoga, Seneca, or the piper Chyanne LS 400
I've not considered the LS400. I'll have to check it out. Thank you!
Hey, Jimmy, have you thought about assembling a kit, like a RV10? Would probably fit your criteria, and be well below your 200k budget limit.
I'd wonder how many man hours that would take.
You will have to strap them on the wings but my dream hot rod with low fuel burn like 10 gals a hr would a Glassair ||| and that baby flies at 290 knots and that hauling ass and then some. I been trying to find one just a ride, oh my god that would be so good. The plane you need is the kit plan that they change out to a turbo prop it’s called a Legend then but for got the name as a kit plane they bad boys either way and have the seats for all !
Same thing on my Baron, if you have the nav lights on you can't see the green lights.
that could really mess with a person if they didn't know about that!
Look down the road. Velocity XL with dash-5 option gets you 200+ & 5 seats for less than $200K.
Bombardier Learjet 24D for 150K, very nice!!
yee haw!!! if it's airworthy, that's the deal!
Oh it’s a Lance air old timers kicking in !
Word of advice Jimmy...speed kills...be safe...
that's a great advice! You are so wise... wow
DC-3 in Rockford Il.
Seems like the Cessna 300 series or 400 series is a great deal for your mission.
yeah, several of those models fit the bill.
Shrike Commander 500 good plane easy maintenanance . seats 6 comfortably
The Seneca has twin engine IO-360 which the fuel burn is comparable to that of IO-540
not 200kts though... good planes... just needs to be faster ;)
Hey Jimmy why not a 68 thru 73 Baron. It would handle all your family plus baggage and smooth flying. It's a thought
I live in Lakeland, FL and wanting to get my PPL. Who would you recommend me using?
There’s plenty to choose around Lakeland to Bartow
Yeah, T-Tails were a thing for a while.
they look cool.
Beachcraft Baron. The A36 and F33 are close.
love those planes
Please paint some trim on that beauty!
hahaha, that's what everyone says! need to find a shop that do something cool... maybe sponsored.... anyone? hello? wink wink...
You're next project should be an F86 or MIG 15
G, day Jimmy's World channel from Sydney, Australia.
* there seems to be a benefit in a 200hp engine in the FAR/AIM.
* can your CFI approve a complicated aircraft endorsement (rating)?
(Retractable gear, flaps and variable pitch prop)?
🌏🇭🇲
yes, 200hp is the high performance endorsement and it usually means a constant speed prop. more power, safer for high density situations and weight.
also yes, Levi got me squared away with the complex endorsement :)
Yea, we would always shoot for the “complex” endorsement in one check ride. 200 hp, retract gear and constant speed prop all in one.
Random question... Jimmy, do you deal with a little bit of Tourrette's? Just curious
When he was opening his mouth wide, that was to help equalize the air pressure in his ears.
@@jimrussell-us aaahhhhhh....i gotta remember to do that during my descents
@@JonLeejw it can help. Looks funny, but it works.
there's a good F86 for sale somewhere
Jimmy, a great project would be a Beechcraft Starship. Cruise @ 307 kts and on the top at FL410 not to mention 2,400 BTUs. With the cookie duster you would be STYLING.
Mooney bravo will do 195 knots and is easily found for under 200k
so close!
@@therealjimmysworld 5 knot tail wind and you got 200
very true!
Think about a Piper Seminole
those are great airplanes.
How about a Duke? Although it is a twin.
those are great looking airplanes too!
Cessna 310 or even better a 340? I'm not sure you'll get there with a 200k budget.
the 310's are (usually) not 200kts, unless it is the T310 or a colemill conversion (? I think that's the right one)
TBM 850 fast 6 seater
Careful Jimmy, you’re hittin’ too close to home about what I remember what’s NOT written in the POH!
lol
Are you talking single or twin engine
yep
Meyer's 200D!!
I'll have to look that one up.
@@therealjimmysworld www.trade-a-plane.com/search?category_level1=Single+Engine+Piston&make=MEYERS&model=200D&listing_id=2394000&s-type=aircraft#
That's a cool airplane!
@@therealjimmysworld Yes it is! Useful load being its lesser performance spec.
200mpg airplane 200mpg plus is a piper comanche 250 non turbo
Bellanca Viking 300
great airplane!
Three in the green so the people in the back row can hear it. Centurion will get in that 200 knot area.
Cessna 210T Centurion
Fast, reliable, 6 place, retract gear...They're out there
Cessna 340, 414.
great planes
Why not put a turbo or a blower on the plane you have? Better yet why not a small block Chevy LS? I have a friend that built a airboat it did not have enough power so he put another airplane motor On top of the other one he was running two motors and one prop. LOL that’s true wish I could send you pictures. Enjoy your channel
D18S!
hhhhmmmm, that one was not on the list. I'll have to look into it.
@@therealjimmysworld It’s old school round engines, sounds like a few Harleys cruising down the highway. Mouthwatering.
That would be pretty cool.
where do you find plastics
Vantage plane plastics. Premiere Aerospace and a few others.

@@kevinjarchow8812 thank you
what Kevin said, also ebay.. funny though, I've discovered the used stuff on ebay is often more expensive than NEW stuff from these guys... check prices before buying on ebay.
he's leading you on the straight and narrow :)
@@therealjimmysworld ya old plastics are very britle and break like a craker
I just don't like T-Tail plains because of the handling and s potential stress on the tail.
Aerostar 600
Cessna 340
Lancair IVP.....
Cessna P337
now you're talkin!
Lancair Legacy
Great video!
Call me crazy but I'm trying to find a true 4 seater under $100k. Something that does 1k pounds of people plus some baggage and gas for legal 400 nm that doesn't have the back seat passengers all pretzeled up.
Piper PA28-235, great airplane, the back seat is a bit small but meets all your other requirements.
Could build a kit. The Vans RV10 brags about four full sized seats and over 200 MPH. I'm sure other kits are out there as well.
So I guess an Ercoupe is out of the guestion?
Not unless it has the turbine STC.
I like a rudder.... hahahaha
hahahaha
I never liked the t tail. I wanna feel the stab come alive when power is applied.
yeah, it was weird and on landing it just stopped working and the front wheel fell down.
@@therealjimmysworld yep, you can’t hold the nose up as long as you would like. Short fields you like to mush it in. High winged aircraft are much better during an engine failure, (they normally land slower) but low winged aircraft get you where you wanna go faster. Cheers, and good luck finding your fast bird.
Malibu, but I don't think you are going to find one for less than 200k.
at one that would be airworthy with more than 15 minutes till tbo... lol
Flying prison blues!
when I hear that plane a comin, flyin round the bend....
How come leaving the wife at home for a fast 4-seater is not an option ??? I often find wives to be more annoying than kids.
hahahaha.... uh I mean, I would never consider leaving my wife and love spending lots of time with her.... yes dear, I'll get off the computer now...
@@therealjimmysworld Good,(safe) answer...
Dude if only small things left on her .. I really hope some cheap vinal sticker the all white needs to go
ahahahaha, It's got some primer grey... lol
Twin Comanche
twin 400's!
@@therealjimmysworld 310 or 414 in the cessna market. both are good haulers.
No way you’re getting 200 knots in a twin Comanche.
the Cessna's are solid and twins are still "reasonable" to purchase and repair.
if you started from 12,000ft in a dive ;)
Malibu
that would be awesome!
Malibu...
under $200k.... that's the trick...
@@therealjimmysworld Oh, you were actually serious about the budget.... Usually it is a 2 to 3 times multiplier. Keep on keeping on!
yeah, already looking for the next plane!
That 200 hp Arrow TB is under powered. It should be at least 300 hp.
You want them to screw with you a bit. That is how you learn.
Concorde? Would that work? 😂
That would be AWESOME!!!
@@therealjimmysworld 0
@@therealjimmysworld Well it meets your 200kts, at least four seats...you did mention you weren't including OPERATING costs! haha!!
but can you find one for under $200k that flies?...
@@therealjimmysworld A little TLC with duck tape, two paperclips, and a bubble gum wrapper and you’re golden! I taught MacGyver everything he knows!!!
Glassair
Your leaving a lot out of the equation for whats needed? You want to go fast but the airplanes that do, cant land at any of those cute little airports that are so fun to get into. Mooney's, Lancair's, Aerostars cant do it, their worthless for slow approach speeds and small runways carrying any kind of weight, airplanes I see recommended like super Bellanca's aren't 200kts planes. If you want to go fast "and get into all the uncontrolled" fields and not worry about stalling turning base to final, ""fully loaded"", Cessna 210 Turbo with a runout engine. If want to spend a little more without hassles and have a fixed gear plane thats actually better than Cirrus and cruises at a Real 200kts, get a Cessna TTx, Columbia 400. There is a "Lancair conversion" that is the "best General aviation airplane in the world" that can do it all but its twice what you want to pay. The LX7 from RDD enterprises can do it all, fly's as fast as a jet, has slotted flower flaps to get you into all the small short runways. My guess is you want to pack it full of stuff though, The Turbo 210 with a Robertson Stol kit cant be beat, true 200 kts airplane, not 180 or 190 stupid nonsense like these other recommendations. You just have to be very careful of the carry through spar on 210, you don't want one with any history of moisture above the headliner and have been inspected the right way.
Those are great comments! I can tell you've really researched this! Thanks so much for all the intel.
White Lightening, Oh man, if you can find one, you'll be leaving every body in your turbulence!
White Lightening, talk it up to make it happen!
Jimmy's World! ☜ (↼_↼)
what's with the mouth thing? popping your ears?
Why can’t you remember the co-pilots name is Cleave! You keep calling him Rodger!
hahahaha, so true!
get a canberra bomber $4000 ex raf
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
are you yawning to pop your ears or is that just a flying tick you have
Leave the wife home
Come on Jimmy this is pretty much boring just to look at you two in that airplane
