- For this video , I collaborated once again with none other than @sidewalks2269 to document along the public sidewalk outside this bagel shop. we encountered a mix of reaction while we were outside this location , ranging from a pleasant exchange of words as a woman was crossing the street, to a certified "Karen" who took issue as she was walking past me on the sidewalk heading towards the establishment. Another individual who took issue was a man standing at the front entrance, getting out attention stating that he didn't want to be filmed. I did attempt to advise him, if he didn't want to be featured on camera, to simply just continue on with his business rather than stopping to get our attention . He then had a meltdown & quickly became a male "Karen" who I refer to as a "Darren" . There was a woman outside with him who appeared to try to calm him down before he went inside & manhandling the door on his way in. Eventually Police were called to the location , with 2 officers arriving on scene & proceeded to head inside to speak with the calling party. After a while, the two officers returned outside & were pleasant to speak to from my assessment. I did ask why they were called to the location & we found out that there were claims that we were bothering customers.
In summary, I gave the police a pass for how they handled the situation & of course a fail goes to the calling party.

Finally, a pair of cops who show up, tell the offended party that what you're doing is perfectly legal, and don't try to get you ID or give directives. Could the tide actually be turning?

I completely agree with your view on the officers! Bravo boys! As for your question as to whether the tides are turning, I think, possibly, but at a very, very slow speed.
As long as citizen journalists, auditors and activists are STILL GETTING FALSELY ARRESTED for lawfully exercising their 1st, 4th, 5th and 14th Amendment RIGHTS, the “tide” hasn’t turned fast enough…

It would be interesting to see the bodycam conversation, call me a pessimist, but I’d be willing to bet they didn’t just go in there and say “they’re not breaking the law” “they’re just exercising their rights”….. I’d bet the word unfortunately was used at some point, and would double down on a phrase like “get a reaction “ just baiting” “ trying to get a lawsuit”…..you know the usual🤷♂️

He doesn't even qualify as a Darin. I would simply title him, "Karen". The police officers were perfect. Upon exiting, they didn't even try to make it appear as if they were giving directives.

There’s a difference between a random person recording you and being filmed by security cameras. Case in point: if you get recorded by these people, you get to be criticized but thousands of keyboard warriors who think they are much smarter than they really are

Thanks to both auditors for educating more of the public on civil rights. I find it hard to understand how people object to being recorded in PUBLIC since you can't leave your own home without being observed by countless cameras in private and public security settings. One more camera on a public sidewalk in broad daylight should NOT alarm a person with nothing to hide.

Hmm, at first I thought the cops weren't gonna answer your question about the call. But then once one finally did and we heard no directives, etc., then I guess that's pretty good!
But it would be interesting if you would FOIA the call log and/or at least bodycams so we can see if they were just as genuine inside the place (not saying all that _"unfortunately..."_ mumbo-jumbo, etc.). Wanna follow this up just to see if they do or don't need a little bit of education on that front?

Cops get a fail every time they bring an armed response to reports of discomfort, hurt feelings, and "bothered customers". And "just following orders" has never been an excuse. Dispatchers need to be fixing this.

All public employees and all law enforcement employees should be required to take continuing education classes on local and Constitutional law. Period contact your legislature.

Nah, just because a curbed area is read doesn't mean it's a fire zone. Notice that there isn't a fire hydrant there? It's just a buffer to help ensure that the driveway doesn't even get partly blocked.
