"Since This Is Their Property, She Can Sign For Misdemeanor Criminal Trespass"

  • Here we have this audit , taking place from the public sidewalk outside this Farmers & Merchants bank location. As I was documenting the signage on the front door, a woman came out demanding that I stop recording the bank claiming that I needed consent to continue with what I was doing. I informer her that consent was not required. She then instructed on of her colleagues to call 911. A short time later, two units from Orange County Sheriff's dept. arrived on scene. The main contact I had was from the deputy who went inside the bank to speak with the calling party. When he came outside to speak to me, he informed me that they could file a misdemeanor criminal trespass & have my vehicle towed, being under the assumption that I was parked on bank property. I didn't confirm or deny if I was parked on the property & informed the deputy to go ahead & tow the vehicle if they felt compelled to do so.

Before I got sick, I regularly ran marathons. So the idea of parking a mile away and hoofing it to some business seemed normal. Clearly that is not the case for the bank manager. Her thought process is that anyone visiting her branch must park in her lot. I love how you take advantage of that mindset and simply won’t give them the facts they need to know for sure. Further, the manager was clearly emotionally distraught by the entire experience and was making poor decisions. Still, it would be lovely to stay around as she tows the car of an important customer based on her flawed mindset.

That beta guy that pulled over was so ignorant and sad. Why in earth would he think it was any of his business? Very telling that, when a total stranger tells him they don’t want to share what they are doing, he instantly goes to insults and disrespect. Seems like quite a bit of projection going on there with the “hiding something” but. Has he never heard of paparazzi? Street photography? Seen a news crew on a sidewalk?

Like what kind of moron would say they don't want to give their name, but then hand over something with their name, address, AND date of birth on it?
